When my best friend is beaten to within an inch of her life, I step into Vadim's Gym, where her boyfriend exercises, and go off. Though, I'll one day become a district attorney, there's nothing graceful about how I seek justice, which is all a big mistake. One: I'm at the wrong damn gym. Two: I've cussed and disrespected every male in the place. Oh, and the Russian fighter I encounter, whose jacked with muscles and packing heat, won't let me go! He promises to extract vengeance. His loyalty comes at a price. Not to mention, my father is the Chief of Police.
Vassili Karo Resnov
Zariah and I had a misunderstanding when she walked into Vadim's Gym. The beautiful, black vixen came into my life and cussed everyone out before I could say a word. I introduced myself, the anger and desire she felt gave way to fear... But we'll fix that, because now she's mine.
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Amarie Avant focuses on writing romantic suspense, contemporary romance, dark romance with the occasional redeemable anti-hero.
January 21, 2018 ---Reread due to "Fearless II" going live on Thursday, January 25, 2018 !
Still a favorite read --- loved it! Hero and MMA fighter Vassili's character was still as hot as ever - a true Alpha male, memorable protector and very possessive who bends only for a few - namely Zariah! Zariah's loyalty to her friend was memorable also but her ghetto-fabulous ways still bugs me as I still questioned her 'edumacation' and laugh a lot!
Still give this romantic suspense, "Fearless" a 5 star rating.
"Fearless" by Amarie Avant was a gripping and well-written romantic suspense about a very alpha, Russian MMA fighter named Vassili and a feisty and fearless female named Zariah from very different worlds. The way they meet was too weird but their attraction wasn't! Ya' see, not a doormat, Zariah was on a mission and that mission was to hurt her friend's no-good boyfriend after he beat her up--- badly! She actually ended up at the wrong gym, upset the men in the gym but strangely enough Vassili wants to protect her --- largely from herself no doubt! lol This couple's attraction was so instantly intense but so very, very smexy!!!! With twists and turns abound, mystery and of course drama with humor and memorable family dynamics, this story will keep you on the very edge of your seat! Did I tell you that Zar and Vassili's chemistry was HAWT and their controlling fathers were well, similar yet different!
Do I recommend "Fearless".... YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
The best part about this novel is that it followed this couple through years. It offered the chance to watch their rocky (and bloody) beginning. Usually authors would've left it at that and maybe started a book two or something. Instead, we follow them along their steamy and at times roller coaster ride of a relationship. This wasn't angsty. It was realistic in many ways with a huge tasty dollop of escapism.
Dark Alpha. Smart, Kick Ass Heroine. MMA fighting. Race & Police Relations. Russian Mafia connections. There's even some politics and discussion on African American culture.
I'm down to check out Fearless II and see where else we'll be going!
Zariah meets Vassili when she comes into his gym raving like a lunatic out for blood for the man that dared beat her friend and sent her to the hospital.
When he tells her she's at the wrong gym she's sufficiently mortified and he wants to continue talking to her to get to know her better. She explains the reason for her visit and he promises to take care of the problem -- permanently!
Flash forward seven years later and the couple is married with a daughter and their relationship is at a crossroad. Flashbacks tell us how they got there. I liked the fact that meeting Vassaili didn't change Zariah's life plans. No grass grew under his feet, Vass continued to hone his MMA fighting skills to stay on top of the sport. Their lives moved on but they never moved on from each other.
I loved that is couple married early (this is not a spoiler) in the story and we get to see their daily lives and interactions. Though this story doesn't end on a cliffhanger, there are some unanswered questions, so there will be a Book 2.
Who is the mysterious Danny? Can their fathers be trusted? Where is Zariah's best friend?
This is my review and how I see it. The author has provided a free copy of her work in exchange for an honest review. Author Amarie Avant has brought us another sensual romance with a hard hitting Alpha who falls in love with his woman at first sight. This is her best one (in my opinion) to date. He waits seven years to have her and once he gets he is not letting her go.
Two people for total different worlds who have an instant attraction toward each other. One wants the other but knows that they will not fit into the other's lifestyle.
The ending will leave you wanting to see what happens next.
Fearless. That's what you would call an unarmed woman who walks into an unknown situation threatening an unknown man for hurting her friend. At least that's what Vassili thought about the beautiful woman walked into his gym, she's fearless, beautiful, and his. Zariah wasn't thinking, she was just feeling, feeling the rage running through her body after seeing what her friend Ronisha looked like after her boyfriend Sergio used her as a punching bag. She was determined to make him pay, she just needed to find him. And that's how she ended up in the middle of a gym full of men and coming face to face with the scariest but also sexiest man she's ever met. When Vassili promises take care of her problem and Zariah accepts his help, these two embark on a journey together that's full of drama from interfering family members and life's many challenges that makes for a very entertaining and enjoyable read. These two also have some very passionate and romantic encounters that makes this hero and heroine jump right to the top of my favorite book couple list. My only complaint is that Fearless ended with some unfinished business and unanswered questions. For example what happens when Vassili finds out his stepsister has befriended Zariah without his knowledge and why. I really enjoyed this book but because of the unanswered questions, I give this one 4.5 stars.
Well...I tried. The opening scene was okay - even though I started and stopped the reading of this book for months - but I'm just going to throw in the towel. While I'm no damned expert, I got tired of correcting the grammar and typos as I read. I was annoyed with the characters and the almost non-existent to ridiculous plot; i.e. too much sex and sex on the brain, and not enough story. I know that Avant has a huge fanbase, but I won't be one of them. Deleting from my Kindle.

My Thoughts.....
This author has done it again and that is giving the readers another good read. This story was of Zariah [educated, strong & intelligent] and Vassili [Russian MMA fighter, Alpha] that was off the chain being a well written story that will keep ones attention to see what was going on next between these two. How will these two survive from this instant attraction be able to fit into each others lifestyle? These two characters will keep you on a emotional ride due to the fact that both of these two were so very 'strong will and determined' and let's not leave out the hot chemistry that flowed heavily between them. I will say at times I did question Zariah's reactions toward her father in regard to what all had happened to her mother and brother. Be ready for lots of drama, humor, mystery and oh my that romance! Will Zariah and Vassili be able to whether the storms that seems to always be around them with some deep family issues along with some their racial backgrounds? I was so happy to see this story ended with a HEAFN leaving the reader to know there will be 'more curveballs to come' along with some unanswered questions to be answered. Thank you to the author for another good read!
There is a good story here somewhere. I enjoyed the H. The h is a trifling chick that gets it sometimes. Is the regular response by an adult to a question or comment with a "whateva?" . In addition, the author pulls all these different threads that only adds a layer to be finished sometime in the future as in book 2?. In addition, the ending...what was that about? Book 2? One wonders about the morality of a character who stays with the father after witnessing verbal and physical abuse by said father; yet acts pretentious and judgemental? Even after allowing the H to settle an injustice; seriously resolved; that was perpetuated on a friend? Also, sometimes after reading a paragraph, I have to re-read because I am thinking WTH? What is the author talking about....sometimes too hip_hopish/juvenile? A little less chaos, better organization of the storyline, would help to create a substantially better story....a 5 star read.
This story about Zariah and Vassili was soooooooo good. It was very interesting it had me reading from start to finish. Zariah comes crashing into Vassili's world by a complete slip up. From their very first meeting Vassili has vowed that Zariah will be his no matter how much she fights it. I loved reading how Vassili was relentless in his pursuits of breaking down Zariah's walls. I also really enjoyed reading the dynamics and backgrounds of the characteristics made you understand the story more. This story will make you want your own alpha Russian male, so if you love reading about them, this story is definitely for you. Highly recommend this book!
Vassilli and Zariah are off the charts hot! From their semi innocent first night together through all of the ups and downs of building a life together I was locked in for every second!! Vassilli is damn near my ideal book boyfriend. Sexy tattooed Russian who is so enthralled with Zariah that their chemistry just jumps off the page. The MMA aspects only added to the excitement. I. CANNOT. WAIT. FOR. PART. 2!!!!!
This read was amazing . I enjoyed both characters in the story . Zariah and Vassili completed each other despite their families and racial backgrounds . I loved all the other friendly faces in the read as well lol Yuri was cool and Tayrn was a cool chick . Can't wait for book 2 its going to be some drama . Little Natasha is such a cutie pie 💙. Good job
I love this couple. I love the bond they had together. I also love how Ms. Avant add a little comedy to essences of this loving couple. I also liked how there were not just lovers but also Friends who push each other to accomplished there goals.
This was a reread and just like I read it the first time it’s still good to me on the second. I’m basically just brushing up in preparation for book 3 on New Years Eve. Happy Holidays everyone and happy reading
I purchased the book when it first came out and it has been in my TBR pile. Should have left it there. This is my least favorite story by this author.......it was just really hard to get into. I know typically authors do research and it seem like she didn't do any about Russian culture or dialect. It made the story disengenious, hard to follow, and disjointed. Only because I have read all of her books, followed her from the beginning, is the only reason I will be reading the follow up. I hope it will be a little more researched and more plot development.
I realize that romance novels are supposed to be fluff reads but I was so disappointed in this book. The grammar was terrible and the plot was all over the place. It does not need to be a series and I struggled to complete this book so I definitely will not be reading the next. By the way, a DA is a District Attorney and Defense Attorneys do not prosecute cases, they defend people accused of committing crimes. An editor should have caught the myriad of errors in this book. Too much sex, overly repetitive and it just got old.
Cliche. Virgin h who waits seven years for H, who she knows is screwing other women, because other woman answers H’s phone when h calls. Just like every other book, good girl h and bad boy H! Nothing new!!!
I received this ARC for an honest. I loved this book like I love hot sauce because it was that freaking good. Such an amazing book to read Zariah and Vassili are smoking hot.
I love reading a book where the lead female character is strong, well educated and intelligent. Zariah walked up to those Russian MMA fighters and held her ground. That's what drew Vassili to her besides her being the most beautiful woman he laid eyes on. They were instantly drawn to each other but Vassili knew he had to wait for her until she was ready. Even after a three year of no contact with each other after their first meeting seven years prior, the sparks took off and could not be extinguished, even though Zar's father did all he could to stop it to no avail. Even after they married he was still determined to break them. Vassili was determined not to let anyone, including his father's Bratva brotherhood and father from ruining his life. He wanted no part of that life style. Their love was was fearless and hot. Vassili's bedroom talk was off the chain. I loved it.
Amarie wrote a story that kept my attention from beginning to end. This was a story about complicated characters who were determined not to let actions of bad parenting keep them from having their HEAFN. I can see a new book being written on Taryn and Yuri's relationship as well as other bombs being thrown at the Resnovs. Great story line.
I didn’t like the beginning. I felt the H and h’s first meet was forced and unbelievable but once they got together I was hooked. Vasili was such an alpha. Super possessive and cocky. He went after Zariah like a bull. She didn’t stand a chance against Vasili. The H and h were perfect for each other because they had similar personalities. They both were dedicated to their jobs and new what they wanted out of life. Both were stubborn as hell and the chemistry was hot. Good start to the series.
I'm happy to have read the first book and I really enjoyed it but the gramatical errors and typos were really annoying and somewhat stopped me from fully being immersed in the story. Nevertheless, I want to read more about Zariah and Vassili.
