Rate this book
Jorem Farr is a fugitive. A renegade sorcerer born in a city that despises magic, he has spent his entire life on the run from a group of fanatical, mage-killing huntresses. But everything changes when he flees into the arms—and the long, slender legs—of a beautiful amazon warrior who inexplicably pledges her life to his service.

Jorem quickly learns that her sacred vow involves far more than acting as his bodyguard, however. The amazon magically binds herself to his will, allowing her to sense his deepest desires and anticipate his filthiest carnal needs. What follows is an adventure filled with sex, swords and sorcery—in other words, the consummate fantasy erotica!

The Amazon's Pledge is an action-packed erotic fantasy novella (23,000 words).

Publisher's Note : This book and the rest of the series appears in The Highwind Catch-up Collection, a massive anthology of 15 novellas.

About the author

Sarah Hawke

Sarah Hawke is a prolific writer of science fiction and fantasy in multiple genres, including erotica, harem, and bondage. Her books are known for their intricate world-building, twisting plots, and fleshed-out characters—and of course their many intense, steamy sex scenes.

If you are interested in "pure" traditional harem stories, The Lost Fleet is the perfect place to start! Wings of the Seraph is a shorter, older series but also hits most of the traditional harem notes. Shadow of the Seraph features a rotating male and female pov with some F-F scenes involving temporary futanari, so avoid that unless it is your jam!

Her fantasy universe features many types of erotica stories involving bondage (Elf Slave, all the Spider Queen books) and non-traditional harems (The Amazon's Pledge, The Amazon's Vengeance). She also has two ongoing fantasy erotica series with intense action and multiple points of view, War of the White Throne and The Blade of Highwind.

Well, for a very short, but very naughty novel set in a fantasy setting, you could certainly do much worse than The Amazon's Pledge.

The thing I find strangest about the book is it's definitely written (I think anyways) more as male fantasy fulfillment material than anything else. Which given that the author is female, makes it very interesting indeed. But not interesting as in bad. It's actually rather good.

So what do you get with The Amazon's Pledge? Simply put, you get a very brisk tale of a magic user on the run from those who wish him ill, and the Amazon warrior who pledges her services (and I mean ALL of her services!) to him after he helps her out in a time of need. While this isn't going to win any awards, it's actually a very well conceived, and well written, erotic romp through a cool, though familiar, fantasy setting.

Jorem is our protagonist, and the entire story is told from his perspective. He's an above average magic user with a penchant to think primarily with his...magic wand...as it were. He's a little self-effacing, a little paranoid, and extremely naughty. He can hardly believe his luck when Kaseya, the tit-ular (wah wah wah) Amazon pledges her loyalty to him. But even though she a servant to his every whim, he generally tries to treat her respectfully.

For a short little title, there's plenty of action, and plenty of ACTION, thrown into the mix. This first book mainly exists to set the stage with Jorem and Kaseya (and to allow the sexual shenanigans to unfold) but also gives our heroes a quest at the end that promises to expand the scope of the story.

As for the naughtiness, it keeps it pretty vanilla (I don't know if the other books will expand on this). You have m/f coupling, as Jorem takes Kaseya in basically every way possible. I would say that the sex is standard erotica fare; neither tame nor overly explicit and nasty, resting somewhere comfortably in between.

All in all, The Amazon's Pledge is a very well done little slice of fantasy erotica.

So, after a VERY slow beginning, the story does start to pick up the longer you read the book and it does a nice dance of leaving you what the hell is about to happen next. I did enjoy the book. Forewarning, if you're not into rough sex. I suggest you skip this book. Seriously.

This was surprisingly good. I was expecting a short erotic tale, basically smut. But this one had a pretty good story to it. I think the author would have done better to add up the 6 books in the series into one book instead of these shorter stories.

The story follows Jorem Farr, a sorcerer trying to escape a city where magic is illegal. A group of female cultists are hunting him. On the boat fleeing the city an Amazon woman comes up to him to beg his help to save her sister. This is dangerous for him since doing this would reveal that he is a sorcerer and could lead to trouble. She is smoking hot and he is a guy so he agrees and saves the sisters life. The amazon who asked for his help pledges her life to protect his. In her land, it is the duty of the amazon women to protect their bonded male magic users. She bonds with Jorem which basically makes her subservient to his every needs, including and especially sexual. Magic users have a lot of power and they can be dangerous when they get backed up, so it is the amazons job to make sure that doesn't happen as well as protect him from external threats.

My review for the whole series.

I like the story and world, it's really interesting however I have a love/hate thing going with how the main characters. Our male MC is far too stupid and willing to put his dick into anything, I am not a huge fan of "open" relationships in the manner its been done here and mostly I don't like Valuri.

I dislike how lots of "harem" type book want to make ALL the women, and men, cum guzzling porn star like degens that want to fuck everyone and drop their pants cause she or he is "hot". Our MC's basically could have used more work to be believable and have better personalities that fit, and please dont tell me Valuri is just a strong woman cause being nasty and unable to be other than nasty/snarky isn't being "strong".

At the end of the last book of this series there a short story about how Valuri and Jorem met. She basically hunted him down, shot him with a poisoned bolt, chained him naked to a wall and offered him two choices, either be turned over to the castrarium to be tortured and then killed by castration OR serve her and she then convinces him serving her is better by essentially raping him, she essentially trained and manipulated him to like her abusiveness. Quite the dysfunctional and toxic relationship and the author wants us to believe in the series that has turned into "love".....lol

Another thing that kind of stupid is in all the humping done in these book we never have anyone get a STD....lol

I gave this a 3 star for the story but it could have been lots better and if you dislike Valuri right away and can't stand the character then stop reading cause she doesn't really get any better. Frankly I almost gave the series a 2 stars because of Valuri. I read other books from this author and the characters were done better like the Lost Fleet series for example.

This is an odd, short beginning to what has become one of my favorite fantasy series, culminating in The Dragon of Highwind, and even more surprising since it's erotica. But as other reviewers have mentioned, you could take the erotica elements out and it would still be an excellent fantasy series with great, original world-building and characters. But why would you, the erotica is also a worthy element. Many writers don't know how to balance smut and good writing, and the results are plastered throughout trashy Kindle Unlimited covers; I've read dozens of them and hated most of them. Sarah Hawke is different, one of the very few writing today who has mastered this genre, and this is a great book to begin to explore her worlds.

Setting:
The setting here is a rather generic and lightly sketched fantasy land.

Characters:
Jorem: Jorem is a sorcerer and that’s bad news for him. Along with the magical power comes a death sentence. He’s trying to keep his magic hidden and do his best to have an okay life.

Kaseya: Kaseya is a powerful and beautiful warrior woman.

Plot:
While fleeing the hunters that tirelessly pursue him, Jorem bumps into two Amazonian women one of whom is badly injured. Against his better judgment he reveals his magic to attempt to heal the wounded woman. Partially in thanks for saving her friend and partially because the society she's from both reveres and fears mages, Kaseya pledges herself wholly to Jorem’s service in any capacity he might wish or require.

My Thoughts:
This is fine. It’s short and smutty and very much in the vein of the other things Hawke has written in this setting. It works as a functional introduction to the setting and to Jorem if you want to skip right to the main stories of this world.

It’s a very quick and easy read. We are light on world building beyond sorcerers are bad but magic is generally okay. Not much else to say about this one.

I liked this.. Quite a bit. Even 4-5 stars worth.
The problem is. its only 97 pages long.
The author is one of those who decided to "Mine the Miners" so to speak.

Put 4 of the "books"(<Hence 3 stars.

Would recommend this to those interested in this type of fiction.
