Reboot—Verb To restart by loading the operating system; boot again.
Ninety-nine percent of the time you can right your wrongs. Sometimes all it takes is a simple apology.
But what about that one percent?
The wrong that you can’t make right. The wrong that will haunt you. The wrong that seemingly defines the very core of you.
Starting over and putting the past behind me is all I want to do. But girls like me—with pasts like mine—are fated to live in the shadows of their mistakes.
So what happens when you’re given that second chance? At life… at love? Do you take it? Or do you stay in the shadows?
Good people who do bad things deserve second chances. Don’t they?

I don’t know why I forced myself to finish this since I normally have no problem dnf-ing a book. This was duller than dirt and the 2 main characters came off so immature and juvenile it made me want to bang my head against the wall repeatedly. I highly doubt I have any intentions of going back and reading the previous books in this series or any following this. I definitely prefer some of the stuff this author has been putting out lately over this.
OMG!!! This book is absolutely brilliant. I'm new to Ms. Davies writing but I am a fan now. Lexi made a mistake with good intentions but now is paying for it. Tried as an adult even though she was only 15 years old, Lexi has a rough time of it when she is moved to an adult maximum facility. That is until she is called into the warden's office and presented with a viable option for early release. She is put into a program, given a job at the community center and lives with a nice elderly lady.
Evan is the IT guru of the team, with a carefree attitude it doesn't appear anything that bothers him but he is holding in a deeper pain from his past. His girlfriend is a police officer and a real class-A b**ch always making fun of him for his job, not being present and his slogan T-shirts.
These two tortured souls find they have a lot in common. They started their relationship backwards but they are so connected to each other they don't have a problem with it. Lexi doesn't feel like she deserves a second chance at life or love. Will Evan be able to convince her that she does?
** I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review **
OMG! These books are just getting better and better with each one i read, this one is about Evan the cheeky chappy and joker of the MAC Security group, this was a heart felt story that had all the feels and story line that left me routing so hard for this couple Evan and Lexi, that you don't know from one minuet to the next what the hell is happening.Addictive, explosive and gut-wrenching just a few words to describe this story.
Evan has a past that he keeps hidden even from his adoptive parents and team mates,he puts a front up so that you don't know what he is really like, but when he meets Lexi she can see that he has put walls up as she has done the same herself, just to survive her life for the last five years in prison.
This story will leave you not knowing how this will end or even if they can survive everything that is thrown at them as there are so many twists around each corner and obstacles that are thrown there way that at times time seems to be running out.
I love this authors style of writing where nothing is as it seems and you never know from one moment to the next what is around the corner, this story keep me on my toes with how this all unfolded and i loved every minuet of it.
OMG Evan, the happy go lucky, cheeky chap of the team. This book defiantly gives you an insight into his life before, during and after. It had me crying and laughing.
Abigail Davies has delivered throughout the entire series. However, this one goes that little bit further. You meet the real Evan in this book and whilst I know he is spoken for by some readers, it makes you love him that little bit more.
Lexi, has had it rough in her young years and all she needs is someone to give her that chance in life. A chance to prove she is not what people think she is because of where she has come from.
I loved her spunk and the verbal vomit that just seems to come out of her mouth. It makes her that bit more endearing.
Their story had me melting and showing that anything in life is possible if you just hope.
You know that more is going to come from one of the story lines within this book and I can't wait for that to unfold. I want to know how that bit will uncover.
This upto now has to be the best book in the series. However, I know book 5 will be the one to totally break me. Luke is mine.
The book gives you a glimpse into his life and his vulnerability. The snippets you get had me cursing the author in places and threatening to pull a 'Misery' on her. Is it wrong to love an author for the books she writes and how she writes them, but also want to damn her too? Nope!! OK, worth a try.
Reboot is the 4th full-length novel in the MAC Security series and it shares Evan and Lexi’s story. Evan is the tech guy at MAC and I have been desperately looking forward to his story because I love a man who possesses intelligence and skills like he does.
I absolutely loved getting to know Evan. There are scenes from his younger days that broke my heart but in present times, I enjoyed seeing him not only with his MAC family but his adoptive family too who are incredible and I absolutely adore them.
Lexi’s story is also a tough one to read. This young lady has had one of the worst starts in life and I admire her strength and determination to make this new chapter the best that it can be.
I found that I quickly became immersed in this story but my attention sadly wasn’t held. This was completely unexpected as I have loved the previous books in the series AND Reboot focuses on Evan - who ticks many of my boxes, remember! It wasn’t that I disliked the narrative per se, especially enough to DNF it, which I’m so pleased about as I thought the last 30% was brilliant. The final scenes had all the suspense and excitement to keep me entertained and enough twists and turns to keep my mind ticking over too.
There is no way that I am not heading straight into Luke’s story. He’s the mystery guy at MAC, and I cannot wait to discover the secrets he has been keeping from the rest of the security team.
Lexi is one amazing young woman when you hear all the problems she has faced. Being sentenced to the adult maximum facility at the age of fifteen because her "evil" DA Uncle would not help when had trouble with the law. Lexi is offered an outside program where she could have a place to live and a job. She will be working at the community center during the evening hours and living with an elderly lady within walking distance of her job. Evan also is working during the evening for the community center. His daytime job is with MAC Security. He is the IP "nerd" and can do anything he needs to with electronics. When they do meet there is a chemistry between them that everyone can see. Of course, Lexi is so unsure of herself after spending her teen years in the prison system. Evan has a past that he does not allow anyone to know about. With the two of them learning to communicate so they can share their pasts and then slowly falling in love with each other the book is impossible to put it down. There are just so many turns and twists that you will want to purchase the book and find out the ending to their story and all the people involved in their lives. Abigail Davies is such a terrific author.
I know I have said this before but I was so not ready for Evan's story. We see a side of him that no one knows exist not even the fathers that rescued him by adopting and loving him. But she broke through all of the disguises and walls he has surrounded himself with for years. They both have so much to hide, no reason to trust, no reason to believe life would change, their past haunting every step and decision.
My emotions were all over the place with this book and of course there was someone I wanted to kill (this author won't let me read a book in this series where I don't feel homicidal). I laughed out loud and had a smirk a lot of the time but then of course the tears and oh craps and wtf's were fluent. The story will knock you for a loop, the characters will make you scream, the plot will twist you up and down. The ending will finally let you breathe again. Then you'll do the crazy thing and grab the next book. . . . after a double shot.
Evan has a past that no one really knows all of it and doesn’t let anyone in fully, even his girlfriend although things haven’t been right between them. Lexi can’t believe her luck at being chosen for the program and leave prison, have somewhere to live and a job. When Evan meets Lexi, she wasn’t what he was expecting hearing the Gym had employed an ex-con and wasn’t prepared for how he felt. The chemistry between Evan and Lexi is obvious to everyone that sees them. Although both Evan and Lexi both feel that no one will ever love them, Evan sees all the walls that Lexi has up and knows he wants to break them down, Lexi sees Evan for who he is and for the first time they both wonder if they can, have, a future filled with happiness. Love the series, Evan being the IT guy was always in the background, but he certainly showed who he is now. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I finally have MY Evan!! I've been waiting for this book for a year since I first read about him. And it was with every second!
Evan is the definition of "hot nerd." I loved him snd his jokes so much! And Lexi... well she's the cutest awkward person in the world.
Neither have had the best start in life, but it's this that draws them to each other. They help heal each other by giving their trust over freely.
I wanted to kick Geena in the face, she was a manipulative witch!
Again, Abigail writes with a finesse that pulls you into the story and doesn't let go until its spat you out. Another incredible book to add to the MAC security series, and I can't wait for Luke's! It's sounds like it's going to be a scorcher of a closing book for the series!
OMG! I just love this book so much! From the very beginning! Evan is so quiet yet so smart, funny, sweet and sexy! If it weren't already claimed, I'd claim him, Haha. Lexi is just so sweet and funny! I love watching her grow and can't wait to see the woman she becomes in future books. Geena... well, you'll see! Lol. The rest of the MAC family is involved as well and I love that! They're such a strong family with so much love and protectiveness. Lexi and Evan are perfect for each other. Mal and Cal are by far my most favorite!! And Livvy is just so special! Seb and West are pretty much amazing, lol. The entire book is just amazing and the characters you can't help but love. It's definitely a must read!! Then there's Luke! He's mine, of course! And I can't wait for his book!
This book is absolutely brilliant I loved everything about it and I couldn't put it down. It has everything in it you want, suspense , drama which had me gripped and would let me go and romance between 2 tortured souls who meet and are Instantly drawn to each other and their romance may have started off backwards but got there in the end and it left me all happy inside. This story was intense and it never faulted. I was going in blind with this book as I haven't read the rest of the series but you do t have to read them to keep up, that been said I. Not gonna have to read the other books now as I'm hooked and I'm looking forward to reading the cavemans book as he has me intrigued and wanting to know more about him. I highly recommend this book .
Wow Evan's story is a real heartbreaker but I kind of like my guys slightly broken and that's what I got. when he isn't vulnerable he is smart, funny and such a gentleman he makes me swoon, A LOT. I don't want to give anything away but Geena is not cool. I did feel the Geena story was left a little unfinished but I will live. The less I had to read Geena the better. Then we have Lexi who is also broken in her own way but that compliments Evan so well. Lexi and Evan take quite a journey through this book. It will keep you on your toes and leave you smiling. So glad I have continued on with this series.
Holy. Moly!! Seriously, this series just gets better and better! This book scattered my emotions six ways Sunday!! Honest to goodness! I have had a soft spot for Evan since book one and to find out his back story in this one.....broke me.....and then we have Lexi...equally broken as Evan. I'm not sure my heart could take much more!! But you know what they say, every one is a little broken, it's how the light shines through, and boy, these two together?! Nobody deserves the light more than these two, apart from maybe Luke, but that's a different story all together!! Flipping love this series!
I freaking loved this book! I've been a fan of this series ever since reading Fractured Lies. This book follows the character Evan and I could NOT put it down. Even had always been my least favourite character. He always just seemed like the funny guy in the background. Boy was I wrong! Evan has quickly become my most favourite character. In this book he meets sweet Lexi and they are a match made in heaven! Too bad Evan is already hooked up with someone else. I can not recommend these books any higher. I need the next book now!
What can I say about Evan? He's amazing!! He's hurting from his past but comes across as strong and funny. He constantly keeps his facade up but somehow Lexi breaks through. Lexi is socially awkward after going having spent years away from most of society. She has managed to create a good life for herself after her ordeal and we get to see how she slowly gains everyone's trust and learn more about her story. Abigail has always had a beautiful writing style and she brings more of the same beauty to this book. She tears you down and puts you back together in a completely new way. Her books have really healed parts of me as much as torn me apart. I've already added Evan to my harem, he's great at keeping the others entertained!!
This is the fourth book in the series but with #2.5 it makes it the fifth. The previous books are Fractured Lies and Exposed, which are a duet, Flying Free (2.5) and The Distance Between Us are standalones.
BRILLIANT!!! This series is freaking brilliant! It will captivate you from beginning to end. It is so well written that it will make you ask for more because it is that good!!! I love how the story revolves on each character, the action, the drama, the suspence, I just freaking love it love it love it!! I cant wait for Luke's story!! I want it now!! 😂 ❤❤❤❤❤★★★★★★★★★★★
Could not put this book down! So I may have said previously that book 3- The Distance Between Us, was my favourite....sorry Charlie- Evan has kicked you off top spot! If you haven't read this series, what the heck have you been reading??!! Get into now!! If you love flawed characters, a twisty plot, and men who are nothing but loyal to those they love, then you really will love these guys!!
Ugh. Cliffy is not my friend. Lucky for me the next book ( I think the last of the series ) is ready for me to dive right into. Still looking for answers on Eva’s roommate. Don’t know if I’m going to get those. And now Luke. With the way that book ended I’ve got a lot looking forward to in the next one
I absolutely loved reading about Evan! I didn’t think his story would be anything like this but now I’m loving him even more than I already did! Lexi is now my major lady crush and I couldn’t read this book quick enough!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Five Stupendous Stars! Amazing book! This is the forth book in the Mac Security Series and the author has knocked it out the park. The drama, suspense, and romance left me thrilled and chilled. It was completely captivating and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. This is a one click author for sure and I can't wait to get my hands on whatever she writes next. I highly recommend this book, series, and author!
Lexi made a mistake while trying to help the one person in her life who had always supported and been there for her. As a result, the course of her future was forever altered but now she is about to get a chance to start again.
Evan is the IT guru of the team. On the outside, he appears to not have a trouble in the world but his past has secrets that define him to this day.
Their journey is filled with ups and downs but their feelings for each other are never in question. They connect and trust each other with all their secrets that they have never shared with anyone before and that only deepens their love.
I loved both these characters as Lexi is clumsy, socially awkward and just can’t seem to think before she speaks but that only makes you love her more. Evan’s past results in a low self-confidence when it comes to relationships and not believing that he deserves better than he had received in the past. It was great to catch up with the other members of the team and they along with Evan’s fathers and Izzy, the woman who took Lexi in, provided a great family and support system for Lexi and Evan. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
OMG I just can't even find the words for this book.... I freaking LOVED it... I've loved them all actually.. this series is just perfect... it hooks me in... gives me all the feels and emotions....and makes me fall in love with every single character it gives us!!!! I don't want to give away any spoilers but Evans story is just heart warming... it's perfect just like he is! Being the quiet nerd of the group is just Evans way to cope but there is so much more with this guy it's unreal... and with another little cliffhanger at the end of this book I just know I'm ready to jump into the last book... once my heart rate has calmed down and I can breathe again that is! Abigail Davies has found herself a huge fan and I will recommend this series to anyone and everyone!
From the very first book in the MAC security series I couldn't wait for Evan's story. It was so much more than I ever imagined it would be. Every page I fell more in love with him and the moment he and Lexi met I knew they were perfect. I absolutely loved this book and I will be waiting impatiently for Luke's book.
This is book 4 in the !AC Security series and each book has been amazing, but they all seem to get better and better, and I think it's because the characters are now a big part of us, and they're like our neighbour next door. Evan has always been the quiet, computer geek in all of the books. He has been the one to get any I formation the guys needed, where as in this book he was out there, using his talents, and making us fall in love with his character. I wanted to jump into the book and batter Gina's lights out for her mocking him. I felt he was my family member and I was so protective of his character. Then Lexi comes on the scene. Our sweet, loving, Lexi. This poor girl pulled at my heart. She has had a rough ride and her and Evan are meant for one another. Again, when everything happened to Lexi, I felt this pang of protectiveness cone over me, and I felt every emotion known to man. For me this has been the best book in the series to date, and I've loved them all. I want book 5 yesterday, an I can't wait until it is released. 😀
