AKA Barbara A. Masci & Barbara Masci-Goss

From Kindle Author Page:

Barbara Masci Goss is now just Barbara Goss. I live in Western New York State and have three grown sons, two step daughters and 10 grandchildren. I wrote my books in the early '90's and now that I'm retired I have obtained the book rights and am converting them to Kindle. That's exciting for me because I don't read paper books at all anymore. I have designed new covers with a new author name: Barbara Goss. My first two books "Captured Heart" and "Forbidden Legacy" went to a second printing in the mid '90's and the publisher added my name as Barbara Masci-Goss, but I now prefer to keep it short and sweet.

From Author Website:

I'm from Western New York, and I live with my husband and two cats, Mandy and Molly.

I wrote these books in the early 1990's in paperback. My publishers were Fleming Revell and Baker Book House.

Now, I have the rights and have put them out on E-Books so people can still enjoy them.

My goal in writing these books is to provide clean but still romantic and adventurous novels for all ages. I've always felt that we needed more clean, wholesome books. When I wrote these books there were but a handful of Christian romance writers. Now, thankfully there are more. My biggest influence in writing was Grace Livingston Hill. Enjoy.

Love on the side of the road...

This book centered around the female lead, Leila and her journey to her future husband, Joe.

There is trouble on the train and Leila needs help from a handsome stranger.

There are twists, turns, and love in unexpected places making this story a Good weekend Read.

R. William James did well with the narration.

In Dan McCall's Bride, Leila is on her way to marry Joe, whom she has been corresponding with for months. She is a mail order bride. As she is riding the train to meet Joe, her train is held up by a notorious gang. She is taken from the train by these men and used as a shield. Then they throw her in a ditch and ride their horses away. When Leila lands in the ditch she hits her head on a rock.

Dan McCall is a Marshall who has been tracking the train robbing gang. He comes upon Leila and sees she is hurt. He takes her to the doctor and stays with her until she wakes up. When she wakes up, she does not have any memory. Dan is touched by how beautiful she is. When she asks to accompany him to the next town, he cannot deny her. He takes her to stay with friends while he works. But Leila has fallen in love with Dan and wants to be with him. They share a kiss that both Dan and Leila cannot forget.

When Leila's memory returns, she realizes she was to be the mail order bride for Joe. Dan encourages her to move on and find another man. Dan is not the marrying kind. Unfortunately he cannot stop thinking about her. When he finds out she is to marry Joe, he realizes he loves her. He also realizes Joe is not the best man for Leila and he intends to catch Joe in illegal activity so he can have Leila all to himself.

The book is a clean romance that is well written and has lovable characters.

My Musings

I thoroughly enjoyed Leila and Dan’s love story. They are perfect for each other. Again, some of the wording is a little modern, but the story is so good, I tried to overlook that. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series. Happy reading/listening!

I remember when I was younger , my dad would sit in front of the tv on Saturdays and watch western movies all day. It would really irritate me until I I started to watch them myself and fell in love with them. The author has taken me back to that time with this wonderful story. I loved Leila as soon as she was introduced. She had a hard life as an orphan and wanted a family so much. Her decision to become a mail-order bride gives her hope of belonging somewhere and finding happiness. It must have been a bit scary to travel to a strange town to marry someone you don't know.

Lelia has high hopes of becoming a bride until a band of robbers leave her hurt on the side of the road. When Dan finds her, he takes her back to town. I loved how Leila instantly had this infatuation with Dan. Well how could she help herself? He did save her life. Now if only she can remember who is she and why she traveled to the town. The author paints a vivid picture of the Wild West and gives readers an unforgettable story. I loved how she brought faith and God into the story. I thought Dan was a wonderful character and found it funny that he kept saying," he is not the marrying kind." Oh me thinks thy do protest to much Mr. Dan McCall.

I loved the town, the cattle rustling going on and especially a little love triangle brewing all to make for a very exciting book. I will now have to purchase every book the author has written so I can read about an era that fascinates me. I have fallen in love with this author's writing and look forward to read all her books.

I received a copy of the book from the author. The review is my own opinion.

Historical western romance is one of my guilty pleasures. This book is the perfect blend of old time west meets mail order bride. Leila is on her way to meet her husband to be when her train is held up. Taken as a hostage and tossed away, Leila hits her head and is left for dead. Dan McCall, Federal Marshall, finds her and takes her back to town to find out she has no recollection of who she is or why she was on the train. What is she to do? She falls for her hero. But does the federal marshal feel the same way? There is cattle rustling, gun fights, home cooking and good friends in this story, sure to warm your heart as you listen to it. I love the premise of this story, always wondering what would happen if the bride ended up at the wrong residence and Barbara Goss has given an very entertaining answer.

This is my first narration by R William James, and I have to say, his baritone voice is soothing and warm. He can give the inflection of power and authority as well as tenderness and love.

Dan McCall's Bride
Mail Order Misdelivery, Book 1
By: Barbara Goss

Before I can even think of reviewing I will say I am annoyed!!! Salina is pronounced Sa-line-a not Sa-lean-a!!!

This is a historical fiction western romance. Leila is on a train headed to Hays Kansas to be the mail order bride of Joe, when train robbers attack. When US Marshal.

Dan McCall arrives. The robbers grab a woman hostage. As they make a quick get away they throw her to the ground. Dan rescues her but she has amnesia. She falls head

over heals for him. That is where the adventure begins. Corrupt sheriff, cattle rustlers, and much more keep Dan busy, oh and trying to convince Leila he isn't the

marrying kind.

The listener will travel with these folks to the end of the journey, of who ends up with a bride.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. : R. William James may be a little breathy, but nice voice.

A very good beginning story to this series about a young lady who finds herself head over heels in love with the Marshall but he cares more for his job than to marry her - or so it seems.
I loved that Leila's love never faltered, it just grew stronger and stronger and also the moment of truth for Dan when he realizes that Leila is the one for him.
Barbara Goss has again written a beautiful love story with all the right components to make unputdownable. Can you tell that I loved it?
R. William James has an interesting voice and I enjoyed his rendition of this storytelling.
I am quite happy to recommend this audiobook story as an enjoyable and entertaining one.
An audiobook version was provided by the author at no cost and this is my honest and unbiased review.

I never fail to enjoy books by Ms. Goss. This one was full of mystery, romance, inspiration and all the other things this author includes in all of her books. The book is well written and there are twists and turns to the very end. Intrigue follows Leila while she endeavors to remember who she is and Dan determines to keep from falling in love, finding all the obstacles to letting Leila into his heart. As should be, in the end, with God's help, everyone finds their place and those plaguing Dan and Leila are brought to justice.

The narration was great. Ms. Goss seems to have a knack for using only the best narrators.

Another Barbara Goss audio book that I just loved! She does such a good job with characterization and plot that you are transported back in time. Although Leila was meant to be another man's wife, she falls for the big lawman, Dan McCall. Dan's sure not looking for a wife, but he's having a hard time putting Leila off when she wants to be with him. His morals are strong as he slowly falls for the woman he rescued.
There is danger, love, friendship and growing intimacy in this delightful story. The narration by R. William James lends the perfect gruffness and masculinity to it.
I received this book from the author. All thoughts are my own.

I really enjoyed this book! I wish there would have been more conversation about God, and Leila would have wanted a relationship with him, instead of praying only because Dan held prayer in high esteem. But remembering she grew up with the nuns kind of fills in the gap. I can understand how Leila was desperate for love, but I was a bit shocked by her aggressiveness. I'm pleased Dan held fast to his morals and they could start their marriage off on the right foot!

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. The author did another great job in this Christian western romance genre. Every book she writes is different. In this story the main characters lives are so different and Dan keeps saying he is not the marrying type. However, he can't fight Leila's love for him. They are both stubborn in their feelings which makes this book hard to put down. The narrator did a good job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story.

This was a sweet story with characters I came to really enjoy. I thought it unusual that Leila didn't seem to know God after being raised by nuns, but it was lovely that her friend taught her to pray. It left no question that there was to be a Happily Ever After, and I was pretty confident that she and Dan McCall were truly fond of one another. It was nice that the good guys won!

Another winner.

Really good story with lots of action and clean romance. When love hits you just can't get away from it. A confirmed bachler can try but good luck with that. A book you can't put down because your mind is wondering what the next chapter brings. Thank you Barbara Goss.

The hero in this book is swoon worthy. I almost didn't want to finish reading this one because I hate to leave good characters, towns and story lines. If there was a real time machine I think I would travel back and forth because I love the wild west and the men and women who settled it. You will love this book I believe. Enjoy.

Author Barbara Goss has written another action-packed western adventure/love story. Federal Marshals combat train robbers, cattle rustlers and the like as they wreak havoc in the rapidly settling west. Ably narrated by R. William James the characters spring to life, fighting their way to an HEA (Happily Ever After).

Dan McCall's Bride by Barbara Goss was a great read. Leila was on her way to meet the man she was supposed to marry. Unfortunately Leila doesn't make it as Dan finds her lying unconscious on the ground. Leila finds herself in love with Dan as he is her rescuer. This was another great book by Barbara Goss.

Narrated Book

This book was an enjoyable easy listening story. A little suspense with a great ending. Because I am female I enjoy a lady reading but this was a pleasant and expressive mans voice and very enjoyable. I also like this writers sense of humor. Her books are easy to read or listen to.

She got trowed from a horse

She was to be a mail order bride when the train robbers threw her to the ground and made her forget everything. I liked how she knew right away that she loved him and was very persistent about it.

A Lot Going On

There was a lot of action going on in this mail order bride romance. Leila was not my favorite character, but most characters were well-written. This fast paced story held my interest.

Very enjoyable book!

Barbara Goss once again gives us a interesting, well-written story of sweet love. US Marshall, Big Dan McCall, never planned to marry due to his dangerous job. However, after rescuing an injured young woman with amnesia, he finds himself drawn to her...

This was a pleasant read, though I had difficulty sympathizing with the heroine. Leila certainly had her share of hard knocks, but at times she seemed quite peevish and spineless. Several minor characters stood out, and made me wonder if they had or will have their own stories.

This one seemed a little more forward/risque in speech than other Goss books I've read... which lowered it a star for me. However, the story was interesting and characters well developed.

Dan McCall - a marshal who is too busy chasing gangs and loving his job to consider marriage even if she is pretty inside as she is outside.
Leila- a m.o.b. and on her way to marry Joe when her train was robbed and she was being used as a hostage then she was discarded and ended up with amnesia.
I enjoyed this action packed story with a lovely hea.
