Liam Breckenridge was the worst person Aella McDaniel had ever had the misfortune of working for! The cold, indifferent corporate attorney knew exactly how to get under her skin, and to make matters worse, he was absolutely gorgeous. Aella and Liam's attraction was impossible to ignore and as much as she wanted to kill the man, Aella couldn't deny what her body and soul craved. To the world, Liam was a living, breathing nightmare. But underneath the surface is a single father who is far more complex than could be imagined. As they get to know and understand each other, Aella sees the true Liam and it leads her down a life altering path. All of Aella's life she hid her intelligence behind her body and beauty. She'd used both to try and break away from the overwhelming expectations placed on her, purposely living as an underachiever despite her capabilities. Liam challenges her to step up and take the reigns of her life and shape it to her wants. He puts his feelings on the table and won't allow Aella to deny her own. Will Aella be able to balance new found love with Liam, parenthood and a career? Or will she have to choose? Can she choose between all of the things she'd come to love?
I don't know where to start with this book. The dialogue felt stilted and not quite believable for an older couple. Originally, the heroine was 37 and then later in the story she's 35 -- seven years younger than the hero. The hero is raising his nieces and nephews, five children in total, while his brother and sister are in jail. His oldest nephew discovers something about the heroine that was a running joke and it just felt awkward and in poor taste. There was constant mention of the heroine's attractiveness and her killer body -- it's a wonder how this woman was still single given all the heads she turned.
The author failed to mention that this was a HFN story and there is a Book 2 in the works.
This is the second novel by this author and this one was kinda....not quiet right. Although, the foundation of the story was good, there was obvious grammar mistakes which made it hard to read at those points. I don't know about others but for me, when characters constantly call each other by their full names like, 5 or 6 time in a chapter is overkill and make the story weird. This story desperately needed either a couple of additional chapters or a serious epilogue. I just kinda ended. But for all of the take away, I really love the relationship between Liam and Aella (and the kids). Their chemistry was off the charts and the witty way they dealt with each other made the story barable.
I love Kimberly M. Clayborne’s novels, I love her style of writing, how she builds a story, and her characters. “Most of All” just continued that trend.
I loved Aella. She was a kindhearted, good-natured, and a STRONG woman. Even though Liam was her boss she still respectfully let him know when he was being unkind and unfair to her when at work. Liam’s a bit moody and has a temper at work, but when he lets his guard down and you get to know the real Liam you see what an amazing, selfless, and good person he really is. The attraction between them is pretty instant but they don’t jump into bed right away, they dance around each other, then get to know each other on a deeper level before they take the next step.
The story is paced well and incredibly detailed. I am not sure if every reader will enjoy these long vivid scenes, but it doesn’t take away from the story - but admittedly could be left out to quicken the pace. I actually enjoy them, because it comes off realistic to me. Speaking of realism, just like in her novel “For Always”, “Most of All” has several scenes of Liam and Aella interacting with their respective families. Ms. Clayborne really excels when she writes scenes with families, it comes of really natural.
The dialogue and witty banter between Aella and Liam is golden, I found myself chuckling to myself quite a bit, because that’s what my real life conversations are like!
Oh and the love scenes… god… they were delicious. Romantic, sensual, erotic and very descriptive. Just how I LOVE them! :D
I only have two criticisms.
1.) The ending was very very abrupt - so abrupt it leads me to believe there must be a book 2, which I wish she indicated beforehand so I knew it wasn’t a standalone. 2.) Most of the time I ignore grammatical mistakes when I come across them, but there were just too many in this book. Also one minute Aella is 37 next she’s 35. It’s just inconsistent and takes away from the reading experience. It didn’t bother me enough to take away a star, BUT, I do hope Ms. Clayborne’s next book is edited better.
All in all, I really enjoyed reading “Most of All” and I really look forward to reading the next one!
I really enjoyed Liam and Ella's story. The ending, however, was an absolute letdown. I don't mind a cliffhanger when it makes sense but the book had enough added fluff that the extras could have been removed to actually give this couple a chance to have a full story.
Omg!!! These two were great together.... so funny I caught my self lol at 3 am....woke my husband... wished it didn't end like it did but then I could read about these two all day.
I took a chance and read this book on a recommendation. It's really good. I picked it up and did not stop reading until I finished it. I need more from this author. This story was so good and never boring.
First time reading Ms. Clayborne. I loved the first scene with uncle dad. It was sweet. I liked the pace at which the romance evolved. The scene when Liam was on her porch was hilarious. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
This book was good until the ending. It just stopped. Did Ella make it to Canada? What happens next? I'm hoping that there is a part two. I was glad that Liam and Aella didn't hop into bed right away it was refreshing.
This book was very good but no one said anything about a second book. I hope I this author doesn't wait years for the second book like so many other authors do. I lose interest.
The empathy for both characters is amazing. The author nailed it. Both Liam and Aella were so attuned to each other and their family. I would love to read more about this family.
This was such a great book and I'm so happy I decided to read it. Just loved Liam and Aella they were great together the kids were so cute and funny. I so didn't want this book to end! I need to read more of this family! Thanks so much for sharing.
