This review will be as spoiler free as I can possibly make it. As soon as I started this I found it hard to put down, it was inhaled in record time. Such a unique, different, suspenseful twisty turny, unputdownable read that had me racing through the pages trying to reach the end. I've only read one other by this author which I really enjoyed so I knew I'd fall in love with this story also and she didn't disappoint. I highly recommend this.

Being a cover hoe the eye candy kind of made me request this, and I’m so glad what was within held it’s own.

In the beginning we’re pulled into the darkness of the story but to fully understand it we’re then pulled back into full light when we’re thrown into the present.

Tade was an enigma there was so much more to him than met the eye, even his close friends didn’t know the real Tade or his story. Like an onion he has so many layers to him that we uncover as the story progressed. You are going to LOVE Tade. He had a five year plan and in that plan there was no girlfriend. Until Her. One look at her and he was a goner. One look at her and he had to claim her.

Because of you, I learned to love and not fear.
Because of you, I can be loved and not be tormented.
Because of you I feel like a woman and not a victim.
Because of HIM, my life wasn't empty.

Reagan was also a mystery, a past that was shrouded in darkness, mistrust, fear, home schooled and watched over protectively by an overbearing mother that didn't allow her to breath or blossom into her own, but for very good reason. Until Tade. Because of him, he brought light into her darkness and allowed her to breathe. These two though from different walks of life, were just perfect for each other.



She also didn't have plans for a boyfriend, one look upon his beautiful face, with the dare devil smirk and she didn't want anything to do with him.

Guys that looked like him were dangerous to the heart. He was a temptation I didn't need.

I went into this just knowing that it was good and kept your attention. Obviously I was in love with the model on the cover. I've loved past books by this author and one of my all time reads she cowrote with another author. So yeah, I'm gonna read it. And I am so glad I did💗

I'm going to be vague in my review to ensure I don't give much away on the story line. But here's the thing,

Tade Astor is one of those men that seem to have all woman gravitate towards him. He's beautiful, gorgeous, cocky, yeah basically dripping male beauty. He doesn't do relationships, he wants a clear record, so he keeps to himself with a frequent quicky here and there. When he notices Reagan Winters, he raises his red flag. He's ready to surrender and give in to anything she wants.

The thing is, Raegan doesn't want anything to do with a male. Nope. She's beautiful, she's quiet, she's very to herself. She is determined to get her education, her degree, and live her life. She doesn't believe in love and she doesn't believe in a happily ever after.

I had my guesses as to what was going on throughout this story, so the ending wasn't a huge shock to me, but the way this story is told is so good. This author sucks you in, little by little laying out new details, and then boom 💥 💥





Beautifully done is all I'll say. Loved it!! Would love to get Megan and/or Gavin's story :-))))

What a brilliant story, they storyline was unique and interesting.I was hooked from the beginning and I couldn't put it down.I was mesmerized by Reagan and Tade's story.

Both Tade and Reagan's characters were well developed.Trade is charming,sweet,protective and sexy.Reagan isn't easy with him, she tries to stay away but she can't.I loved her strength and she is also sweet.

This is a light read but also in some parts dark.If you are looking for something different then try this one, believe me you will not be disappointed.

Five Brilliant Stars!!

Wow!! This story was tantalizing from start to finish. This is no ordinary love between two people. The Author goes way beyond what you'd expect. I was jaw opening, heart melting and jumping for joy. The story takes you into some dark moments and makes you angry. And then has you sighing with relief. The ending was mind blowing. If your a fan of Pepper Winters writing you will definitely enjoy this dark tale. Beware if you have triggers of kidnapping and human trafficking this story takes you there. But you do get a HEA.

So I met this author at Shameless BookCon in Orlando today and explained that I hadn’t read this book yet but told her it was absolutely one of my favorite book covers. I don’t usually comment too much on them but something about this cover just captivated me.

Anywho I’m not sure why I waited so long to read this one. It was really well written with great characters. There were twists and turns with suspense thrown in and just the right amount of angst IMO.

I adored Tade. He was a bit of a cocky ass in the beginning. Then he met Reagan and slowly begins to grow into the man she needs. This has a couple of good secondary characters that I’m assuming the next book will be about. This one is wrapped up with an amazing epilogue. This will definitely not be my last read by this author.

5 "I can't handle my emotions right now" Stars!!!!!

MY FREAKING MIND HAS BEEN BLOWN TO SMITHEREENS!!!!! WHAT? HOW? I MEAN! I CAN'T! I just can't deal with my emotions. In all the things that are holy, this book blew it out of the water. I was so consumed in this story and in these characters. I couldn't put my kindle down! There was so many twists and turns that I had no idea what was going to happen next. I was at the edge of my seat, clutching anything and everything in my grasp. The adrenaline I felt was all-consuming. My heart went through so many emotions I'm surprised it's still intact.

You'll probably look at the cover and think "oh, a hot guy, I know how this will pan out." But I'm telling you, there is so much more than meets the eye. There is so much to be said, but it'd be spoilers OVERLOAD if I said anything. Please, please, please avoid spoilers. This book should be experienced in its entirety. Just take my word for it, you want to go into this book as blind as possible.

Reagan and Tade, the two main characters pulled at my heartstrings. These two were electric. Tade was so much more than what people thought he was. He has so many layers to him. He was absolutely everything, a complete and utter dream. I couldn't get enough of him or his amazing heart.

'Because of Him' utterly captivated me. The story flowed seamlessly. The characters were so well developed. My breath was stolen and my emotions were knocked senseless. It was such a riveting story, and I couldn't get enough. Terri, you did an exceptional job. I can't wait to read your future books. I hope Megan and Gavin get their own book. Oh please, I NEED to know more about them!

Because of Him is a heary breaking story. It has many triggers such as child abduction, human trafficking, child abuse etc. Be careful.

Miss Laine set a tender and respectfull tone to address the issues on her book. I especially love the slow burn relationship between Reagen and Tade. They both lovely characters.

Overall, I enjoy the book.

Darkness & light, sweet & sour, past & present, a delicious recipe.



Because of him is full of mystery and suspense. You are captivated from the very beginning of this story . The story of a girl taken, sold, abused, its dark and raw then there's the present a girl who just wants to study, get on with her life with no complications.

There's a gradual build up as the two eventually entwine keeping you wondering, guessing as to what will unfold.

The present: Reagan first meets Tate at a bar, Reagan isn't the kind of girl to frequent bars but goes along at the instance of her friend.

You could say it's lust at first sight for Tate but for Reagan she isn't interested not in any boy, she doesn't trust easily, especially someone with a reputation and with an overprotective mother constantly breathing down her neck, threatening to take her out of school and back to home schooling at the slightest thing she needs to tread carefully and be there for her study's.

Tate who has a reputation as a play boy, a rich guy with his own air of mystery, who is he? , who's son is he? Tate has his own secrets but he wants Reagan and he is persistent and determined to get her.

This is the sweet to this story, Tate eventually wins Reagan's heart, the two become close, it's a sweet and heartwarming journey until past and present collide, darkness and light collide and the conflicting recipe that could either lead to disaster or rise to something beautiful.

It was good, exciting, steady then fast paced and perfectly balanced by the author with the suspense, angst, hotness and swoon-worthy moments right up until the end.

Because of him is a stand alone told in first person. No cliffhanger and an exciting recommended read.

Tade is destined to become the next greatest lawyer or politician. While Reagan is trying to make it through college without her mom going batshit crazy on her. God forbid she finds out about the relationship she is developing with Tade. Both have obstacles to overcome along with trying to deal with a new relationship and demanding parents.
Sometimes things don't go the way you planned and sometimes you are surprised by the things you learn. This book is a FAVORITE OF 2017!


I beta read this book and OMG it is incredibly good! It is one of those stories that stays with you and you just can't forget it.

Ok I am going to warn you right off the bat, this review is going to be very vague and probably on the shorter side. I can’t really talk about the storyline at all, because I am afraid I will spoil something and that wouldn’t be good.

Because Of Him was nothing like what I expected going into when I chose to read this book. Now that isn’t a bad thing, just a surprising thing. This story had me on the edge of my seat right from the start. I thought Terri did an amazing job joining suspense, love and real life topics together perfectly. We got the perfect mix of light and dark in this story.

The one and only thing I will say about the storyline, is that you need to be warned, this book covers some very tough subjects and some parts might be hard for readers to read. Although I did love the fact that Terri didn’t get overly graphic in this book and took it just far enough for the reader to know what is happening.

Because Of Him is Terri E. Laine’s latest standalone novel. It is told in Dual POV and is a complete story with NO cliffhanger. You don’t have to read any other book to fully enjoy this book. I thought the way this story played out was perfect and the pace and flow worked well for these characters. This is a college based story so I would say it is a New Adult story. You will become instantly invested in these characters right from the start. Once I picked up this book, I was unable to put it down. I truly couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I had so many things running through my head while reading this book.

Another thing I loved about this book was that it felt so different from anything else I have read by Terri. This was a new side to her writing and I thought it was fantastic.

All I can really say is if you are a fan of the New Adult Genre, then I think you should give this book a try. It’s a story about letting go and coming into oneself. If you are a fan of Terri’s books you don’t want to miss this latest GEM from her!!!!

Regan captivated jaded Tade. He becomes infatuated and falls for the girl with pink streaks in her hair. Her innocence isn't something that comes around often.

Sidenote- Regan and Tade need their very own soundtrack.

Another Terri Laine book I became obsessed with and couldn't put down. I felt what the characters were feeling! I didn't want their adventure to end! Yes, at first the plot seems complicated and difficult to follow, but I was hooked! I couldn't wait to discover out how their love story ends. The narrative has triggers, but if you can get past those, I recommend you pick up Because of Him. Beware of the dreaded book hangover when you're done. That's Not All! Read The Rest Of My Review

Don't be fooled by the amazing cover, Because of Him is a masterpiece. It's a story that enthralled me from the first page to the last one. I don't even know where to start.

I won't lie and say parts of this book weren't really hard to read. I mean gut wrenching, curling myself into a ball, and letting curse words slip out of my mouth hard. There were some chapters that were brutal, and as I read them, I wished it wasn't real at all but a mental break with reality because no one should have to experience that. My pain and anger were eased a little by the way they were weaved into the romance.

Tade and Reagan are excellent characters and they're extremely well developed. The characters are not what you'd think. Tade is not an asshole. He's the absolute opposite. The way he takes his time with her, and the way he is regardless of the issues he has, was just wonderful. He's an alpha, but he's not over the top, which I know I really loved. And Reagan? She's a bad ass. I loved how she willing to put herself out there and break out of the barriers and boundaries placed on her. She's strong, resilient, and a fighter.

The epilogue had me in tears. I am hoping one day Gavin and Meghan (Tade and Reagan's best friends) will have their own story. There are others who'd I love to read about, but mentioning them would spoil parts of the book.

I've never read a book by Terri E. Laine, but I do know she's on my radar in a big way after reading this book. I don't know how she managed to mesh multiple arcs into one that managed to keep me on my toes, but she did it in a way that was magical and superb. I keep hearing how different this book is from anything she's ever written. so if you've never read her, I think this is the perfect book to pick up and read!

OMG this 6 star story is a must read. I have some criterias in order to give a story a 6 star, well this story sports it very well. It was highly addicting. Once I started reading it, I couldn't seem to want to put it down. I just plain devoured it.

I always write spoiler free reviews but this is one of those that needs to stay that way in order for the readers to experience what I did.

This is one of the best stories of 2017. It was well thought out and planned to perfection. An unique storyline that left me baffled. There were some shocking twists and none that I saw coming either. I had quite a few WTF moments. This story was intriguing, somewhat dark and intense, very suspenseful with of course a love story to swoon over.

Tade vowed to never commit to one woman but one look at Reagan, that's all it took. He was so good, patient and tender with her. She had him work for it, she didn't make it easy for him. These characters were perfectly created to compliment this amazing story.

This story had me twisted in knots. I was kept on the edge of my seat all throughout. My heart broke many time over but I was left smiling. Bottomline is this is one of 2017 must read.

Standalone told in a dual POV with an amazing HEA. The epilogue was one of my favourites and left me emotionally happy. I strongly recommend this story.

Terri seriously knocked it OUT.OF.THE.PARK with Because of Him! The story of Reagan and Tade are still in my thoughts and imbedded in my heart. We certainly cannot overlook this stunning book cover. Thank you to Terri for providing me with the perfect muse for Tade :)

Once you get past ogling the cover, you quickly realize the heart and depth of this story. There were so many twists and turns in this beautifully crafted romance, you will be sure to devour it in one sitting. I could not put it down, I did not want to put it down. I was completely consumed by Reagan and Tade's journey to find happiness and shed the dark clouds that seem to follow them through life.

This story was dark, yet beautiful and heartwarming all at the same time. Terri kept me on my toes, just when I thought I knew where the story was headed with Reagan and Tade she threw a wrench in my theory, putting me back to square one. I found the mystery and intrigue so captivating. Some of the darker times were sad to read, but Terri balanced all of the emotions beautifully. The connection between Reagan and Tade leaped off the pages! There is no shortage of steaminess between these two, the sparks will fly!

I love the characters in this story. Reagan was strong, fierce and so determined. I really admired her tenacity for life. She knew her parents sheltered her, but that did not diminish her desire to experience life. Tade...WOW! He's deemed a "player" with the girls at school, but deep down you know there's more to him than what he shares with everyone else. For various reasons I don't want to spoil, he's extremely careful as to who he lets into his life. The more we get to know him, the more we realize just how swoonworthy and big-hearted he is. Reagan gives Tade a run for his money, she doesn't back down to him and she's not afraid to make him work for her attention. She doesn't give in to his every whim like the rest of the girls do, that intrigues Tade and keeps him coming back for more. Gosh, I love Reagan!

Do I recommend you read this? ABSOLUTELY! You will experience all the emotions with Reagan and Tade; sadness, happiness, despair, grief, redemption and most of all love. This is my favorite read by Terri, I cannot wait to see if she expands on some of the wonderful supporting characters. Thanks for the journey!

An incredible, beautiful story for fall 2017 by USA Bestselling author Terri E. Laine has captured our hearts in Because of Him. This dark and raw story impacted me long after the tale ended and I am sure it will be the same for you. Terri’s words will pull at your heartstrings little by little and by the end you will long for more.

In Because of Him it’s not just about a hot man meets a young woman and they fall madly in love with some bumps along the way… nope! There is so much more to this fabulous story that you’ll be craving this romance long after you’ve set it aside.

Reagen’s trust is hard to come by given her past, but meeting Tade, the playboy with a rich-airy tone… she is determined to keep him at arm’s length. Too much is at stake, but Tade wants her at any costs. Past and present collide with these two and both must deal with their ever-loving demanding parents.

Electric, fierce characters that Terri has produced. Both Tade and Reagen were beautifully constructed and thought of. This story was executed and written flawlessly with multiple twists and turns at every corner. You didn’t know what was coming up next. Moments of suspense, lust, need and mystery all wrapped in a remarkable book.

This book could not have been any better. The intricately woven plot had me hooked from the beginning and I fell head over heels for Tade and Reagan. I don't believe in telling the story and there are too many twists so I won't give any spoilers. Do yourself a huge favor and read this book. It is spellbinding and your heart will ache at times and at others it will leap with joy. Terri E. Laine knocked it out of the park with this one.

Wow! Just Wow! Terri E. Laine has me floored. In a fabulous way, she brought a dark story so much light and beauty. The charachters are what always gets me with her books. She digs and claws her ways to the depths of all that matters to bring you a life altering journey. Sacrifice, LOVE, grief, sadness, despair, pain, tragedy and so much more is throughout this story.

Raegan Winters attends her first year at college as a Senior. Being sheltered and homeschooled has left her shy and only focused on her studies. Her roomate and only real friend, Megan, is the fun and wild girl who has to convince Raegan to leave her studies sometimes to enjoy little moments of fun. These little moments lead her to meeting a beautifully handsome man, Tade. Tade is your ultimate playboy. Even though he is focused on his studies and his sports, he still enjoys his time with women. He never sees a girl after their "first" encounter and his only reprieve is one night stands. Until he meets her. "Biscuit" as he calls her because she refuses to give him her name. She's spunky and challenging in all the right "wrong" ways. He has never been pulled towards a girl and he has never had a girlfriend. Somehow these two have explosive chemistry throughout. If only their pasts can't take them down, then they might have a real shot.

This book will bring you tears, laughter and heartache. However, it will introduce you to not only the beautiful work this author provides, but also the ugly that can be out their in this world. Keep your tissues nearby and hold out for Hope and Love.....

When you see a cover and hard core judge the book behind instantly... that was me me, the moment I saw the cover to Because of Him by Terri E. Laine. That beautiful cover drew me in that I probably would have read it regardless of the storyline. 😂 The cover aside though, Because of Him was so beautiful!

I read it in one sitting, setting it down was not an option because my soul was aching to finish it! It was fast paced and believable. The mix of present and past casts a shadow of mystery and a heaping helping of unknown throughout. You will be kept guessing until the end is revealed, I know I was. No matter how hard I tried to figure it out, this story is written in the perfect way to keep you just enough in the dark and keep you at the edge of your seat.

Let's talk characters now. Tade, a "bad boy player" of his own admission is the perfect anti hero to start because deep down you know there is more to him than what he shows the world. His sweet and caring side shines through for the right girl to a point that I melted, straight up swooned. I LOVE him!

As far as Reagan goes, I think she is best to be experiment without much preface. I will say, I love her strength and fire deep inside to live the life she wants on her terms. There is a lot to her that is extremely relatable and I found myself doing just that throughout the book.

Because of Him is a MUST read for everyone! High levels of love, angst, danger, suspicion, worry, rebellion, fear, and a wonderful sprinkle of steaminess that gave me tingles. Terri E. Laine wrote a beautiful story that will stick with me for a long time!

BECAUSE OF HIM is a mix of light and dark contemporary romance about a college student who was closed off to men, when they got too intimate, until a notorious playboy taught her how to love and not be afraid to fall.

There are very sensitive themes in this book that should be read with a really open mind and heart. And my gosh, once I finished reading it, I needed a moment! This was truly a BRILLIANT novel! The transitions per chapter were unpredictable and vibrantly written. I cried and cringed in this book, and my emotions were in a jumble but I could not dare to put the book down as it was exciting and amazingly suspenseful at the same time. BECAUSE OF HIM was truly a phenomenal love story of survival, where love teaches strength and acceptance, and reveals that even people who have had a dark, ugly and agonizing past can have a bright, beautiful, and liberating happy ending. This was an absolutely sensational read!

I have read an advanced copy of this book and this is a fair and honest review and recommendation voluntarily shared.

Woes:

1. Reagan has a really shitty, irresponsible best friend.
2. Both MCs and their conversation topics are dull. They don't bounce off each other well.
3. Am I really supposed to buy that the H of this book is going to Harvard Law School, yet agrees to his girlfriend's (h) justification of "I took the morning after pill a day ago when we accidentally split the condom so let's throw all caution to the wind and have bareback sex again because we 'should' be protected". My mind was shattered by her logic. I wasn't surprised by the "accidental" pregnancy.
4. Personally thought the hero was a bit snooty and could have been more protective. He was a "player" but at the very least dedicated after meeting her.

Pros
1. Interesting back stories for both of them. Human trafficking for her, established early on.
2. I liked that we got her past given in each alternate chapter.
3. The ending/climax was interesting and too perfect. The problems surrounding them as a couple should have been more cushioned out because they had quite a few obstacles.

Wow! Amazing story and plot. I love the characters and their struggle.
I will write that much because of spoilers but the chemistry, drama and passion is fantastic.
The characters develop through the story and it is so well described. This story keeps you captivated from first to last chapter. It is about believing in each other and dare to take the chance.
Tade is the new famous lawyer and Reagan is in college. Reagans has not go the mother to win the mother of the year prize. Tade has also got issues with his family. They both have to struggle to get their HEA.
I can only recommend this amazing read.
