The war enters its final phase . . . The Queen defeated the rebels, but most of them do not know it yet. Waverly’s Raiders are still fully engaged as they return one world after another to the fold. It’s time to take the war to the Chessori, but how? Where are they? The Chessori domain is as large as the Empire, and the Empire knows almost nothing about it. Ellie’s Knights will, as always, be called to give everything that they are, but this time they are called to be explorers as much as they are warriors. Again, all players will play.
I have not liked the ‘fantasy’ parts of this Book Series (Dragons, Queens, etc) — but the SciFi and fighting/military/war aspects were mostly well done. And, I believe that the chronology for Book #4 is weird, and it gives away some of the plot for the ‘final’ Book #5 (so, be careful, if you haven’t read it, yet). And, note: Although the previous books only identified 2 species of aliens as being able to stand-up to (and continue functioning) whenever the ‘scree’ was sounding — the author clearly wrote many, many pages about a specific 3rd alien ‘civilization’ as also having the ability to withstand the ‘scree’ — but this capability is completely glossed over and never directly identified or discussed ...
i really hate to give a bad review on a decently written book. Independent authors is what I read 90% on Kindle Unlimited. That being said, this book felt rushed and a TON on hand WAVIUM to make the "End of the series". Book is probably about 85% dialogue, 5% Tech BS and 10% action. If your looking for major battles scenes this is NOT you book. What disappointing end to the series. Books 1-3 were pretty darn good but this felt rushed and like the author just didn't have any more to give and just gave up. Book 5 and this book has so much for shadowing into another book series, but it appears thats not going to happen. TWO YEARS to write a book!?? Its supposedly double sized. Double sized of fluff and promises that will never happen. To compare, one my my favorite SCI FI author Chris Hechtl writes 400 to 500 pages of books at least 3 to 4 times a year.
The author foreshadows more books in the series, but here we are 2021 as of this review and NOTHING has been published.
Books 1-3 get a 9/10 Book 4 gets a 2/10 Book 5 gets a 2/10 Overall - 5/10 - Don't waste your time or money because the "series" isn't over and will likely never be finished.
It has been a long ride to the end, but it was worth every minute of my time. There are few books that I read every word, And fewer that I read some paragraphs twice. This series is one of them. I don’t think I skipped anything, enjoying the story and the wisdom of the author. From the abduction of Michael, through his fantastic voyage from earth to the throne of a galactic empire and his love of Ellie, to the victory over the evil empire of the Chessori , we are treated to a very good space opera with lessons to learn and enjoy. Thank you Lawrence P White for a good ride. Highly recommend.
Thanks for realizing that some stories become stale. So far yours have not, so if circumstances and fan support call for it I will continue to read more of this story line. Some authors become too involved in the back story and it becomes boring, things happen at glacial pace. Others either have poorly developed characters of way too much built into them also resulting in a boring story, you have found the perfect medium. Enjoyed these stories and will read more of your work. Thank you for making my reading time enjoyable.
I have read this series from the beginning and was thrilled to read this book. The Author does a great job of writing tight and well written dialog. The story moves at a good pace. Solid characters that develop well over the series. I greatly respect the Amazon authors that need to edit their own material. Sure, there are a few points that could have been polished by a team of 20, but actually this book is extremely well edited and flows like water. Overall, one of the most enjoyable reads of my last year.
A wonderfully complex, simple, and entertaining story.
One must read the whole series, but each book stands by itself. There are many worlds, many characters, but those characters are tempered by fewer main characters. Never a dull moment in any of the books. This is the third time I have read the whole series and the read was just as entertaining as it was the first time. I am now looking for more books by Lawrence White.
I read this series after I finished his second series. Both are fantastic! I, for one, hate to see a good thing come to an end. I understand the reasoning.....but.....when you grow to love the characters, and these characters live for 400 years.......I say there should be another series to follow. Regardless of what you decide, Mr White, thank you! I look forward to reading what your incredible imagination creates next!
I waited until I read all the series before I wrote this review and I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed the Chosen series. I give it 5 stars only because that is as high as the rating goes. Great start and great finely. I look forward to any books you write in the future. I have read both series I've seen from you and I can't come up with the words to say how much I enjoyed both. Bravo Zulu
I have been reading science fiction since the 1950's. This series reminds me of some of those stories and authors. A great story is always built around people and relationships. These bring all of it together with a solid resonance that keeps the storyline going with a style that is solid and convincing.
Wisdom is really two or more books that wrap up the Chosen Series (at least for now), though the author has left a nice path forward to continuing the Series. Hopefully he will continue the series as the characters he developed will become your friends. This book is very good, but will be much better if read after the preceding books.
I like your Terran’s! This is a very relaxing series, Earth’s issue’s were only addressed in the peripheral. Sometimes it’s good to get away to a place where you can respect your own species. The core principle of Science Fiction. I’ve re-read this series 3X, Still love it!
When I saw your series i said I would not start another. But your characters, plots and diversity compelled me to keep reading. I hope you continue the series with the mechanical threat with these wonderful characters
LPW. has. penned the fifth novel in the Spirit of the Empire. The Chessori and the Rebel fraction have been defeated and the empire is preparing to enter the Chessori domain. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
I took me many hours to complete this series, most of the time I was somewhere else, on a cruiser, on resolve, in tunnels filled with spiders ekkk. I truly enjoyed the trip and thank the author for providing a amazing, fun adventure- I want to know about the BLOB!
I just completed the series and I think you will enjoy these books. Mr. White writes as though you are part of the book! These are the books you don't want to put down! Thank you Mr. White, and thank you for your service in Nam.
What an incredible story, the turns the story takes, based on the author’s creativity, is amazing. The series conveys a high moral standard that it s rarely experienced in military novels. An interesting and delightful read.
This book is almost magical, it is very difficult to put down. It is also very rewarding, it provokes thought, tears, and a lot of smiles! A must read, if you like sci-fi.
Pretty good binge read. Simply good space opera story surprisingly satisfactory content aliens and conflict guy gets girl had have guys get their reward. Have read the series and it is a long but entertaining journey.. The book does what it's suppose to due for us entertain and kill time.
