Transformational Coaching: Bridge Building that Impacts, Connects, and Advances the Ministry and the Marketplace

Rate this book
This book describes the powerful story of the launch and development of a global Transformational Coaching movement. Now in 28 countries and 14 languages the revised copy gives updates on how personal, organizational, and community transformation is taking place through this unique coaching and training process. From a personal development course, to a professional coach training course, to a corporate management course, and to a master's and doctoral level higher education course, this story will inspire the reader to put these timeless principles to work in their own context and culture. Over the last 15 years there are weekly stories of sustainable change and breakthroughs coming from coaches, trainers, and clients in both for profit and non profit sectors. These stories cross generational, gender, ethnic, and cultural borders and reach the spectrum from Middle School age to Retirement age. Training centers have recently opened up in Panama and Bangkok with the same results we have seen through our offices in Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Atlanta, San Antonio, and our multiple partners in the U.S. and global arenas. What started as a professional coach training movement has now become a grass-roots movement that is changing the quality of family table talks, tuck-in talks, and teachable moment talks, because the quality of our conversations is a key measure of the quality of our relationships. Now organizations are experiencing a shift to "cultures of honor" through the values and competencies shared in this story. For the first time in years many are getting out of bed in the morning looking forward to the workplace as they have the tools to make a living doing what they love. What makes coaching transformational is described in detail in this book. It describes the key intersection of Purpose and Passion we now call Dreamfire. It describes the battleground of Identity we now call I Brand Inside. It describes the opportunity of moving from Retire to Re-fire we now call Third Act. It describes the foundation of character we now call Personal Leadership Effectiveness. It describes the impact of over 8,000 coaches trained to be agents of transformation, whether as certified coaches or as empowering leaders using coaching values and competencies in their careers. But at the end of the day it is a call to transform the 7 mountains of our culture in ways that are milestone moments in our everyday lives. This book will not train you to be a transformational coach. It will inspire you to reframe your approach to life and work to experience the fruit of this approach. For many it became the starting point to launch them into the most significant training in their development and the most productive season in the lives. This book is a collection of chapters written by different authors, lending itself to a haphazard group of opinions on what coaching is and can do. Umidi and Stoltzfus have significant coach training businesses, and their chapters tend to promote their organization's training (without really explaining the nuts and bolts of it) and describe their philosophy about it.

I'd pass on this book. It doesn't give you much more than a philosophy of coaching and why transformation is important.
