Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
"That's right. If we separate...we'll end up like that boy"
Featuring three full cases: The Client from the Deep, Murder in the Steam and The White Day Murder, as well as the start of Air on the G String
Sometimes I just like to pick a random volume of Case Closed / Detective Conan off my shelf to quench my mystery craving. This isn't Aoyama's strongest entry, but there are some fun stories nevertheless. A few of these kind of have an obvious culprit, yet they still manage to throw in a few surprises when it comes to motive and execution. Whilst The White Day Murder isn't my favourite, it has my favourite ending of the bunch. As usual, an enjoyable read over all.
I’m relieved that the final chapters managed to redeem this volume. The Kappa case was frustrating, and the resolution left me feeling unsatisfied. Typically, Case Closed shines by balancing humor, mystery, and a bit of warmth, but this time it felt a bit off. Thankfully, the later chapters brought back some of that classic charm I look forward to in the series.
This volume of Case Closed begins with Detective Moore heading out with Detective Conan and Rachel to look into a murder that occurred 11 years ago. As usual, it is not as simple as it seems and there are some very interesting twists that makes this story stand out as an absolute gem! Next story involves a murder at a Hot Spring! This story has a film crew along with actors and actresses there and makes for an entertaining story. The next story is a rare storytelling technique, but we get to see the murderer before they commit the crime, and then get the joy of watching Detective Conan solve it. I like that this is done very sparingly but admit to really being drawn in when done right, which this story I believe does. The real reason behind this technique is not always who did it, but the motive! I thought it was very interesting how it all played out. The final story contains the Junior Detectives, and it not completed in this volume...so stay tuned for volume 70!
The first murder mystery about a 10 year old drowning of an 11 year old boy that someone lures Mori to solve as a murder (by anonymous note), and just gets more and more sad. Then Agasa and the detective boys vacation at a resort with hot springs, where a group of movie makers are researching for a movie that takes place in hot springs, when the perverted screen writer turns up dead; a discovery that causes Conan to see more of Haibara and Ayumi than he should! Very funny. Next, Conan has to prove a candy factory owner was murdered by his co-owner / wife, but her alibi is actually provided by Ran! Finally, we start a story about a creepy villa that seems to be the hiding place of a piano prodigy. Very good volume.
i picked up this book from library since i purchased the volumn 68, 5 star for the childwood memories. But I have to say, in English version, Names of characters translated into Jimmy and Racheal really disappoint me.
General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
THE KAPPA'S CURSE: A TRAGEDY REVISITED Kogoro, Conan, and Ran are lured to the Koura Inn by a mysterious letter, hinting at a murderer tied to a tragic flood from eleven years ago. A chilling encounter with a kappa-like figure at the river deepens the mystery. When the inn's owner—who is also the father of the deceased boy—is found drowned in the attic, Conan faces the challenge of uncovering how the killer transported reservoir water without leaving a trace.
BLOOD IN THE BATH: THE ONSEN DRAMA MURDER Professor Agasa takes the Detective Boys to an onsen, where Haibara and Ayumi stumble upon a scriptwriter's body in the women’s bath. Though the police suspect an accident, Conan uncovers pools of water on the victim’s body—evidence that the murderer washed away blood. The suspects are the three cast members of the drama, and Conan races to unravel who exploited the steamy setting to commit the perfect crime.
THE BITTER TASTE OF WHITE CHOCOLATE: A DEADLY DECEPTION Kogoro stars in a White Day commercial and attends the chocolate company's party with Conan and Ran. When the company president suddenly collapses and dies from cyanide poisoning, suspicion falls on his wife. Despite evidence pointing to suicide, Conan senses foul play. A shattered glass of lemon tea and a poisoned medicinal wafer hold the key to exposing the cunning method behind the murder.
Cerita 1 Klien dari dasar kolam: sayang banget ya jadi membunuh orang yang tidak berdosa. cerita berikutnya masih menarik, duh kapan ya Conan tamat....lama banget
sukaaaaa banget sama case yang white day hihi :'> jadi penasaran nih sama lanjutan dari case the air on a g-string(?) *eh bener ga tuh* volume berikutnya cepetaaaaan dong terbitnyaaaa!
Di volume ini saya suka bagian yang ada Miwako & Takagi nya, white day, ah so sweet yah bahkan Shinichi jg ternyata ga lupa kasih sesuatu ke Ran yg hampir mau mewek itu hiks hahaha...
