Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
Kobayashi and Santos’ romance and the intrigue surrounding Subaru and Akai are what really saved this volume for me. However, the other chapters felt a bit lackluster and even ridiculous at times. It was disappointing to see such formulaic, lazily constructed cases mixed in, especially when this series usually brings more to the table.
The first case to kick off this volume is one that started last volume involving a Gothic Lolita. This case has the team stumped but Detective Conan comes to the conclusion before the others. The next case/story involves the Junior Detectives and a man who is planning to commit suicide. It’s a quick story which I liked and kind of wished was a little longer but definitely was a quality story. Then the next story is a real nail bitter with a shopper turned into a walking bomb set to cause destruction if the demands are not met. The mysterious organization with the Men in Black are also involved in this twist and turn story which has the great making for an animated or live action movie! This story ends and immediately starts a new one…something that has not happened often within the series but for me is always refreshing and entertaining. It isn’t long and you may even call it an epilogue, but I enjoyed it. The next story revolves around the police and some love-interest/unrest. What starts as a story simply about those relations shifts quickly when Ms. Kobayashi finds a dead body. The story does not end within this volume and so we will have to hold our breath until the next installment of Case Closed!
Pretty much anything with the Black Syndicate will automatically earn five stars, because it always means some crazy stuff's gonna go down (and it moves the main plot forward, which is always nice). We get to see all known Syndicate members in this one! And they show up for good reason--a reason I am very excited and hopeful about.
I'm also dying to find out for sure who Subaru really is. The "I've been reading Case Closed for years" part of me insists he's not who everything is pointing to him being, because Gosho Aoyama has trained me to be smarter than that. But at the same time... everything is pointing to him being this. In any case, I love his character, and he's done some pretty incredible things.
Also, I never thought I would so desperately want things to work out for Santos. But dang, that ending! This needs to be resolved in the next book. Go Santos, go!
good volume, including a bomb scare at the mall that includes a mysterious red shirt mystery and somehow ropes in the Black Organization attempting to discover a still living Akai and ready to snipe him outside the mall, waiting for the evacuation. A lot of moving parts in this story, more than before. Interesting story telling.

General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
THE CASE OF GOTHIC LOLITA A mysterious gothic lolita girl visits a tea house before disappearing, only for her body to be discovered later in a public restroom. Her phone has been ringing every ten minutes, linking her to another woman who had arrived at the tea house shortly after her. Although the timeline suggests the woman couldn’t have committed the crime, Conan’s sharp instincts uncover a hidden truth behind the carefully constructed alibi.
THE MYSTERIOUS KYOZO DAITA While helping an eccentric man named Kyozo Daita after a theft attempt, Conan and the Detective Boys sense that something isn’t right. Kyozo’s strange behavior raises suspicion, prompting Conan to dig deeper into the man’s past and intentions, unraveling a shocking truth beneath his odd demeanor.
RED SHIRTS AND A DEADLY COUNTDOWN Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are drawn into a high-stakes hostage crisis when a man with bombs strapped to his body reveals that a bomber demands the identity of the sender of thirteen red shirts. As Conan decodes the pattern hidden in the shirts, the Black Organization waits outside, ready to kill Kir if Akai is found alive. Conan’s race against time intensifies as Jodie spots Scar Akai near the danger zone, and Conan pieces together a chilling connection to a disaster on December 28.
Seru lah.
I read this book with fast paced. I don't really enjoy that. But, I have been reading this serial since I was a kid and learn that the author made this story more complicated than ever. The plot grows bigger and many characters appears. I like how the author tries to make us thinking and laughing at the same time. Too emotional, but it's still an awesome detective story.
kasus goth loli biasa ajaaa.. trus yg masih ada hari esok lumayan.. yg kasus baju merah ramee dan kasus pencopetan itu juga ramee trus ada scene yg lucu gitu.. hehe :) cepatlah terbit buku selanjutnyaaa...
