There are many “so called” management books out there that speak to the idea of management as a science. Many fall short of that and instead reveal another “management du jour” plan.


Thrive By Design: The Neuroscience That Drives High-Performance Cultures by Don Rheem is not like that. Instead, Rheem discusses why different approaches to management work and why others don’t.

Rheem gives examples of how management should work and why it will work that way.

I promise you there is none of that pass out pins, put up posters, hold hands, ropes course kind of management in Thrive By Design. This is a well-written book about how things work in the real world of management.

"Thrive by Design" by Don Rheem is a mixed bag. While it offers some interesting insights into workplace culture through neuroscience, it often feels overly optimistic and simplistic. Rheem's ideas might sound great in theory, but they don't always hold up in the real world, especially in complex industries like wrestling.

Investing in AEW based on this book's principles was a mistake. The wrestling industry is a beast of its own, driven by factors far beyond employee engagement. The book's strategies might boost morale, but they won't save a failing investment in a highly competitive market.

Next time, diversify your investments and do your homework. Don't rely on feel-good management theories to guide your financial decisions. The wrestling world is tough, and you need solid, market-driven strategies to succeed.

Read this for work. It's a good book describing what it's like in today's time in the workplace.

It's great to see attachment theory used in business. The first 3/4 of the book was really helpful and practical and I will use the language in my daily work with managers. The final few chapters I skimmed, as they feel mostly like a sales pitch for the author's company. 3.5 stars for me.
