Great book with material I had never read about most of these people. Not the easiest read as some of the language was kind of old English but definitely worth trudging through.

This book was given to me by a friend and I loved it. It is inspiring in regard to some of the early Christian pioneers who loved their God so much that they spent life times spreading His Word.

For any who love to read biographies of Christian leaders and models of the faith, Elizabeth Skoglund's book is for you. The book doesn't allow for indepth studies of their lives, but Skoglund gives us insights and highlights to encourage us on our own spiritual journeys. As a family counselor, she chose her subjects based on issues they faced in their personal journeys, dealing with depression, grief, pain, suffering, and endurance in the faith.

This quote given by F. B. Meyer is just one of many that brought reflection: "Satan rushes men. God leads them."

It's a powerful, but easy-to-read book that would make a great gift.

I mostly enjoyed the perspective on the suffering of these 'wounded heroes.' However, the chapter on C.S. Lewis was mostly long quotes from his writing. I found it frustrating that the editor did not revise this chapter.

This book is important and talks about many heroes of the faith that struggled with many different things. It’s important that we know Christians aren’t perfect and that it’s okay to be not okay.
