When I read the blurb for Mr. Alpha I was ready to drop everything and read this book. Not only do I love a possessive Hero, but I'm a sucker for a brothers-best-friend romance. So of course I was going to start this right away.

And then my expectations got shot down.



In all honesty I should have realized on page 1 that this book was not going to be for me. Anyone that knows me knows that I have a huge pet peeve for people using the word "seen" when it should be "saw", so when that occurred only a few sentences into this book I don't know why I didn't change my mind about reading it. I wish I had though because this book was riddled with mistakes that drove me insane.

I can usually ignore some spelling mistakes and even some grammar mistakes, but there were just so many big ones that grabbed my attention and forced me to notice them in this story. I kept hoping that they would end, but sadly that did not happen.

On top of all the grammar that was driving me batshit crazy I was also just really bored with the story. It all happened so fast that I never felt a connection with these characters or truly understood them. They're getting together within the first few pages of the book and then all of the sudden it's a month later and they're in love. I just felt like I missed a lot.

I have more that I could rant about but I do know that I'm sounding like a huge bitch right now so I'll leave it at this. This book may not have been for me but I would still recommend it for anyone that likes a Alpha possessive hero since Dominic was definitely that.

Didn't make sense.
Started off seeming like he didn't really care for the heroine saying she was bratty when then were younger and had braces and wouldn't ever leave them alone.
Then it was switched to he always loved her it's always been her so on and so forth. The storyline was inconsistent and it was only 100 pages.
This is usually why I to tend to stick with books no less than 150 pages. At least you can get just a little more involved with the characters than everything being all rush rush.

La historia es cortita cortita y aunque son libros independientes entiendo que un poco, los libros de la saga estarán relacionados, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que el segundo libro va sobre el hermano de la protagonista de este primer libro. Me ha gustado la historia y aunque ha acabado como se supone han dejado el tema del hermano abierto supongo que para desarrollarlo en el segundo libro.
Recomendada para pasar el rato 😉

Mr. Alpha is a very short and quick romance read. Dominic is definitely the perfect alpha and I love the semi taboo and the best friend sister angle with Mason’s little sister, Blair. Blair has always had a crush on her older brother’s best friend Dom so when they end up meeting up again, she sees this as her chance to make her move. I have to say the intense chemistry between these two is HAWT and when all is said and done, OMG I need to find me a Dominic. He is for sure a keeper. This was deliciously sensual and erotically yummy. Ms. Beck always knows how to write her heroes and her heroines and I eagerly await for her next story for they always hit the spot!!

This is a sweet short book. Everything is happening so fast here.
As for the characters, Dom is one sexy Military personnel, he's cocky and a bit alpha.
And Blair it's a bit confusing, one minute she's sassy and another minute she's really shy.
I found it's kinda hard to connect with these characters in this short time, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying this book.
I got the sweetness and hotness and a bit drama, there's some repetitions, but I'm pretty happy reading it.

If you're looking something fast and hot to read, try this one.

This is the start of a new series by JL Beck. I expected this one to be very short, and it was. However, I think it was too short. I don't think it is a good start to the series, but it looks like I'm wrong compared to the others. I've read many other stories by JL Beck, and not all of them have done it for me. This is one of them.

Dom and Blair are the main couple, but but you really don't know much about them other than they both crushed on one another when they were younger, and now live in the same apartment complex. Ok, maybe a little physical description of the two, but not much. There is pretty much no character development, and I couldn't connect with either one. It's the intense instalove I'm used to from a JL Beck book, but without the sizzle I love so much and keep reading to get more of.

Besides the lack of connection and hot sizzles I love, the ending of this story wasn't as satisfying, but that's because there are loose ends that will be tied up in later books. There were still a few minor grammar mistakes, but a lot less than other books I've read, which was refreshing. If you are looking for a very short read with lots of instalove, then you'll love this book. If this is your first JL Beck book, then try another one. If you like her books, you'll probably like this one, but I didn't for whatever reason. I hope the next one has more resolution.

Great little insta-love novella! Well, it's sort of a second-chance/insta-love actually. :)

Blair's older brother Mason asks his longtime best friend and notorious playboy Dominic to help Blair move into her new apartment, keep an eye on her and keep his hands off of her. Dom says - no problem. She's a knobby kneed, brace-faced little girl. Not interested. Um... well guess what Dom, Blair grew into a beautiful woman while you were overseas, bad news is that she still holds a grudge.

Blair had a crush on Dom growing up, but for many reasons it never developed into anything more than a teen infatuation. To protect herself from getting her heart broken by him again, she keeps a cold, snarky wall up between them. Dom's not going to let anyone tell him no this time. He's determined to make Blair his.

Sexy, quick older brother's best friend romance. Lots of steamy scenes, some family drama and a happy ending!

Great start to a new series. Looking forward to reading Mason's story next!

This was a short story that took about forty minutes to read. Because it was so short I felt a little let down at the end. I wanted to know more about what happened with Blair and Dominic and Blair's brother, Mason. Good news though! The next book in the series is Mason's story so I'm hoping his relationship with this couple will be explained.

I didn't like Blair at first. She seemed braty and hostile towards Dominic and I wasn't really sure why. Although she did a quick about face, she really grew on me. I loved Dominic though. He was a great guy who really cared about and took care of Blair. They were pretty hot together too. I'm looking forward to book two.

A hot and steamy quick read about Dominic and Blair. Blair is the younger sister of Dominic's best friend and when she moves into his apartment complex on the same floor, their heated attraction can't be denied any longer. Blair's brother asked Dominic to look after her while he is away...look after her he did.
Steamy scenes, forbidden love, hot alpha male, sweet innocent young woman, combustible attraction, brother who doesn't approve but can't stop them, no extra drama, no exes or others keeping them apart, just a story of two people who don't deny what they have felt for years towards each other....what more do you want....loved it and I can't wait for Mason's story!

Who hasn't had a crush on a brothers/cousins best friend. This capture so much emotions in such a story. Dom, is doing Mason a favor by helping his little sister move in to her apartment. When he see's Blair again after all the years apart. He is instantly drawn to her. Blair, has had a crush on Dom for forever. When she sees him again it all comes crashing back. These two immediately hit it off again, and finally giving in to their desire, despite the consequences with Mason.
I loved this short story. Dom and Blair's funny banter back and forth when they first see each other again was too good. I also liked that Blair finally took what she wanted and that it paid off. All in all a great, hot short story!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. What a great story to lead off within this new series by JL Beck. I found it sweet and sexy. Yes it was fast paced but there was so much packed into it. I really enjoyed the story of Blair and Dominic. Two people who have known each other all their life. Dominic is the best friend of Blair's brother Mason, who has been tasked with keeping Blair safe. What Mason doesn't know is that both Blair and Dominic have always had a crush on one another. A crush that not even Blair or Dominic have ever told one another. While Mason is still away on active duty in the military Blair and Dominic give into their feelings for one another and will have to let Mason know once he returns. I loved this story and the HEA. I can't wait to read Mason's story.

Too many typos and continuity issues

I get this is a short read, but I have read SO many stories around the same length and loved them. This one didn't work for me. Even though I am a total grammar nazi, I can usually ignore a couple. I think there is at least one per page. Also, the dialogue felt forced. Nothing really flowed together, and it seemed the couple's past changed partway through the story. The story started off sounding like growing up, the Hero never noticed/was attracted to the heroine, but then he started talking about always loving her, a secret kiss ten years earlier, etc. Too many ideas never completed, and the story was poorly written. I, too am a little confused by all the four and give star reviews

This fast paced love story is hot yet sweet. Dominic and Blair have known each other since they were kids and they each had a secret crush on one another. The only thing standing in their way was Mason, Blair's older brother and Dominic's best friend. But now after years of not seeing each other Mason has asked Dominic to look after her since she is moving into the same apartment building as him. He does more than just look after her but now that Mason is coming home from his second tour, they have to tell him they are together. You can't help but root for these two and I can't wait to see what happens next in Maosn's story.

Loved this latest story from JL Beck.  This one is the first book in her Mr. Series. It is short in length but not passion!!  Have you ever lusted after your siblings best friend?  That's what the base of this story is about. And let me tell you Dom and Blair make up for some lost time in very steamy ways!  Great quick read. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Second chances / Forbidden love stories are great.

Blair is Dominic's best friend's little sister. Totally out of limits since the moment they met.
Back then the couldn't do anything for that, and besides, Dominic was a d* and Blair a little sassy but now, that Blair has moved next to Dominic and her brother asked Dominic for help to keep am eye of her, they are botn grown ups and can't deny their feelings, they only thing that hasn't changed and won't change, is that Blake is his best friend's little sister.
But neither of them is ready to give up.

Can't wait for more of their story is we get it in the next boom and of course know about Mason's story

I really enjoyed this short story. I liked the banter/bickering between Dominic and Blair at the beginning. I liked the tension between them, which then progressed to passion. I liked that Dominic was determined to keep Blair as his. He finally had his chance with her and nothing not even his best friend was going to get in his way. My only complaint/disappointment with this book was that it wasn’t longer. I wanted more scenes of Blair and Dominic. Because this book was so short, I was left wanting more. I wanted to know more about the hero and heroines personalities.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read. I cannot wait to read Mason’s story.

A great quick read!

I love Blair & Dominic's story! I adore Blair's spunkiness and her feistiness towards Dominic in the beginning. Dominic thought he was just helping his best friend's little sister who he hadn't seen in five years. Dominic wasn't prepared for Blair. I love that Blair caught him off guard.

I love a good instant love story and no one does that better than J.L. Beck! I can't wait to read Mason's story next!!!

Dom hasn’t seen his best friend’s little sister in five years and his body’s reaction to her now can’t keep him away. He wants to claim her, protect her and never let her go. Now he just has to tell his best friend, her big brother she belongs to him.

J.L. Beck writes another wonderful story. It is a shorter story but it packs a hell of a punch. Dom is asked to help the sister of his best friend move. But after years away from Blair, Dom has no idea how much she has grown up. The chemistry when these two get together is off the charts. Even when Blair is afraid of what her brother is going to do and say Dom is there to make her feel better and stay strong. Dom is a great alpha male and I loved him.

This is a start to a new series. It was a short hot sexy read. But I felt it was to short. I would have like more from Dom and Blair. I would have like to see their relationship grow and to see some of their back story together. There was hints throughout the story about them. The shared kiss and crushing. I would just have like more of a story. It just felt rush. Overall if you want a sexy, fun, hot fast read, it's a good book. I have read alot of Josi books and she she one of my favorites. I hope Mason's book has more details and a story line. Received an ARC for an honest review.
