When Piper Jones fled New York for a secluded mountainside in Alaska, she thought she was safe from the back-stabbing, supernatural drama of the city. Now she's back, with the sexy werewolf Alpha Knox, his pack, and her grizzly bear sidekick for backup. But Piper's plan to get closure is derailed when her vampire mate Merc is abducted, forcing her to form a shaky alliance with a warlock lord. Faced with death threats, romantic entanglements, and dubious allies, Piper is running out of time before someone she loves becomes the latest casualty in a never-ending war...
AMBER LYNN NATUSCH is the author of the bestselling Caged series for adults. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, and is still deeply attached to her Canadian roots. She loves to dance and practice Muay Thai―but spends most of her time running a chiropractic practice with her husband, raising two young children, and attempting to write when she can lock herself in the bathroom for ten minutes of peace. Dare You to Lie is her debut YA novel with Tor Teen.
As with her previous book, I was able to read this book as to came to fruition. It's something I thoroughly enjoy and honored to do. With that being said, here's my thoughts on this one:
Amber is at it again!!! And if you thought From The Ashes was spine-tingling and hair raising, Into The Storm gives you even more. Amber delves deeper into the paranormal world and gives us more characters and exciting scenes that you leave breathless but wanting more!
Into The Storm starts off where From the Ashes ended and we are back in New York. Knox and the wolf pack returned with Piper and things go full force from the start of this book. However, I have no idea where to even start or what to tell you without giving anything away.
Things we already know from the first book:
Piper is mated with Merc. However, Merc tried to kill her which sent her fleeing and her ending up on Knox's doorstep. Then she is somehow mated to Knox while still attached to Merc. It's surreal being mated to two individual, let alone two different supernaturals. And this is just part of her problem in this book that she has to figure out.
Now what we come across in this book:
Piper is torn between Merc and Knox - what she feels for each is totally different. She has forgiven Merc because she now understands he truly wasn't himself when he tried kill her. However, she learns a lot more about Merc and what his future holds if things pan out certain ways.
Piper is trying to learn new abilities and figure out how to harness them. She comes across a very unique individual and one she's not sure on how to take or trust. Kat - OMG, this girl is my heart. I love her attitude and how she handles things. She and Piper together are a force to be reckoned with. And Grizz - he owns me - I need this supernatural as my best friend.
Amber does a phenomenal job of adding new twists and turns into this whole story, but they all intertwine somehow and when you finally see how it's all pieced together, you're like "holy shit!!" And then she leaves you going "I NEED MORE - NOW - PLEASE!!"
I have no idea how she does it, but she writes an amazing and intriguing story that has you vested from the get go and never wanting it to end. Her characters are always so well developed and mix that in with a great action and plot, you have an unbelievable book! I am excited for the next one to come - hopefully soon!!
Into the Storm in book 2 in the Force of Nature series by Amber Lynn Natusch and after I was blown away by how much I enjoyed book 1 of this series my expectations were high going into this book.
I needn't of worried though as Into the Storm was just as amazing and exciting as the first book! I love the cast of characters that Piper has got around her, including the bear Grizz. I'm actually not sure who is my favourite, Grizz or Kat, that's a real hard one to choose as they're both as prickly but funny as each other. They also both had some awesome scenes in this book, and for a bear that doesn't talk, I really love and admire the way the author has managed to convey so much from Grizz.
Piper still has trouble following her around as much as she did in the first book and we really do jump straight into the action from the beginning. We start to unravel a little more of the mystery of just who and what Piper is and I'm really excited to discover more in the next book.
This was an enjoyable read for me and one that I just couldn't put down. I'm really looking forward to the next one in the series and hope that I won't have to wait to long to get my fix.
As always Anber Lynn books are full of action and intrigue. Piper is growing in to her powers and we are able to see some of that, se is a "force of nature" and a heroine we are just beginig to know. I love Grizz !!!! The pack and the vampires are there too but not as much in this one. The focus is on Piper and all the trues thar she is learning and there are so many secrets yet. The love triangle is not something I enjoy, and really don't like it. I hope she takes a decision soon. And what can I say, I'm team Knox all the way !!!!! I hope we don't have to wait much for the next book.
Second book in the series and wow! It didn’t disappoint! We see Piper slowly coming into her powers but still screwing things up in between it all. I don’t know why but Knox is still my all time favourite but the secrets he and Merc are keeping from her make me want her to choose someone else entirely. Frizz is back in this book and is as cute and fierce as he was in the first book. Actually even more so. We finally figure out what his lien is with Piper.
(RabidReads.com)Seems like I have been waiting forever for this book. It shouldn’t because there’s been one from another series by her in between, but still, the first book was so awesome, I couldn’t wait for this one to publish. Just a heads up, there will be spoilers from the previous book if you haven’t read that one yet. I really recommend reading it, as it’s so good.
Piper has just moved back to New York City from Alaska, bringing Knox and his whole werewolf pack with her-oh, and a certain black bear has come with her as well. Grizz-one of my favorite characters. But coming back to New York has it’s own share of problems, because that’s where the vampire she is blood bound mated to lives. Merc and Piper have a major history together, including a night of horrible violence, hence the reason she moved to Alaska. She loved him, but after the “incident” she tries to move on in a relationship with Knox. Now that she knows that Merc wasn’t exactly himself when the “incident” occurred, she doesn’t know what to think, because she loves them both. Love triangle yes, but not an intentional one. Now the supernatural of the city are on the brink of an all out war, and of course, Piper and all her loved ones are involved up to their necks in it-Piper in particular.
Piper is such a bad ass, plain and simple. We learn more about her heritage and slowly begin to fill in the gaps about why she has the powers she wields. We are introduced to Drake, a warlock who begins to train Piper to control her powers. The Vampire King is up to something and Piper isn’t scared, and should be. And the Fae are involved in lots of the bad that happens. In this authors world building, there is a Fae Queen and Fae King and they are separate entities with their own agendas-and not good ones. Knox and Merc have their own dark secrets and we do learn some of them. Kat, Piper’s best friend and a werewolf, is throughout the book and has more than her share of problems. Of course, I must mention Grizz. He’s Piper’s self proclaimed(although he doesn’t talk)bodyguard and refuses to leave her side. And he’s a bear with an attitude!
I was team Knox and I still am-probably-however, Merc has redeemed himself to me quite a bit. He’s so dark and brooding and Knox is so just the opposite. I am really curious how the author is going to resolve this. The threat of war and all the beginning salvos make up the rest of the book. And so much action and violence as well. Throw in a bit of romance(and a bit of steam), a bit of mystery, portals to Faerie, and this book was hard to put down. Well written and paced, this one was a page turner for me, as is pretty much any book by this author.
Highly recommended to adult urban fantasy and paranormal romance readers. 4.5/5 stars
I have no words for this book!! from the very beginning, the intensity in the plot, in the events, on the characters... Amber wasted no time, there is no boring introduction, no downtime. From the moment the pack and Piper came back to New York there was action. I, of course wasn't expecting what happened (twists out of nowhere) I died then and thought it was pretty sudden but the story made up for it later. I am in love with Grizz, oh how much I love the fury beast, didn't see it coming either but I think it was necessary and I looooove Amber for it. Knox, my sweet Knox and Merc, talk about heat... so worth it! I couldn't be happier with this series, I think after "Caged" this is my favorite. It's just so full of sexy alphas and bad ass women, i love the supernatural world and I think that was nailed in this series. Piper's secrets coming to the light was something that kept me on my toes, although I have my suspicions, with Amber as the author I could never be sure. If you haven't given this series a chance and especially this book then you should reconsider. Amazing from the get go!
I feel that this book, and the first, lack a certain cohesion....there seem to be certain aspects that I find lacking. The timeline is one. What I read will only indicate to me that maybe two days at the most have passed but the actions of the characters are such that after two days they know way more than they should. I start doubting, wondering what I missed.
Into The Storm is the 2nd book in the Force of nature series. To say i was eagerly awaiting this installment to the series would be a major understatement, after book 1 ended i needed to know the answer to so many of my questions. Thankfully, i didnt have to wait too long. I am so ecstatically happy to now be able to confirm that i was not disappointed in any way by Into The Storm.
Into the storm follows Piper after return to NYC. Her love life is too confusing for her to even deal with, she has an ornery Grizly bear as her side kick, an ass kicking bet friend in Kat, and more than enough Alpha testosterone surrounding her on a daily basis. Not to mention that political tensions have risen beyond belief, there is subterfuge and hidden agendas in everyone and finding the truth is like pulling teeth...from a bear...not sedated. There were unexpected twists in this book that just completely blindsided me, thankfully though, for the most part, these twists were explored later in the book. You can really start to see the bigger picture coming together in this book which i loved.
I loved that this book had a big focus on the action and the plot, but also had such emotionally captivating relationship developments in the book, of both the platonic and non platonic type. Piper continues to grow in strength and bad-assness, which is good to see, id hate for her to be the damsel hiding behind everyone else. The secondary characters are truly amazing, particularly Grizz and Kat, their invaluable contribution to Pipers life is so significant in this book. Grizz by far is one of my favorite characters in this book, he conveys so much, with so little and he is just the most amazing companion for Piper. I felt that Jase and Dean fell a little by the way side in this book, i really missed their scenes and interactions from the first book. Merc and Knox, those two, each other them in utterly beautiful in their own right. I loved that Amber made both characters work to gain any headway in the romance department. They both had to learn different lessons to get there and im so glad that it wasnt just a quick fix. I will say though, those two boys burn so so so hot!
This series has blown me away...Pun intended. I absolutely love the characters and the dynamics of their relationships. I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading this bad boy, and it was worth every minute of my sleepless night.
Amber Lynn Natusch is a breath of fresh air, as per usual. Her writing style is creative, and wonderfully care free. You know that person who is good at everything and you just cannot stand them? Well, her name is Amber, and she is soooo good it's ridiculous. She takes us on a tantalizing ride throughout this amazing story. Never a dull moment in her books folks.
Into the Storm is the second installment in the Force of Nature series. It starts out right where we left off in book two, and has a nice quick pace right into crazy town people!! Right off the bat something major happens, and the book is so well written that you'll have no trouble keeping up. Turn after turn, we get to see Piper and her friends try and figure out what's really going on in NYC, and try and come up with a plan to save the day. Knox is one of my favorite characters in the series and we really learn so much more about his character this time around. I love the relationship he and Piper share.....he is for sure my number one pick for Piper. Merc is as brooding and gorgeous as ever, and we get to see his softer side ladies. Kat, also one of my favs, goes through some big changes in the book. Changes that took my breath away.
The ending was amazing and kept me on my toes. As I am not one for spoilers I suggest you stop reading this review and buy your ass the book!!! I highly recommend reading book one first, you'll be missing out on so much without doing so.
Into the Storm is another great addition to what is sure to be a kick ass series! It's full of romance, adventure, action, and nonstop drama! Pick it up people, what are you waiting for!!!
Favorite line:
"There was no ambush awaiting us at the back of the building, unless the hooker giving some poor schmuck a blow job was actually a fey spy ready to jump off her knees at any moment and take us all."
I’m really disappointed in this book, and I think it all had to do with Piper. She really didn’t do it for me this time – I don’t know if she was trying too hard? Her whole “good girl” act while still trying to be the tough, badass chick? Nuh uh. Not buyin’ it. When she would insert herself into dangerous situations, I cringed. When she made gallant speeches, I rolled my eyes. She just seemed superficial, and what’s with not making any progress whatsoever with the love triangle? HUH? She’s no closer to making a decision than she was at the end of the first book, so that REALLY annoyed me too.
I think I want to call Piper prissy, but in an understated way that’s not really obvious. And a prude. I don’t know. . . she just bugged me. And let’s not forget that “Reinhardt” is supposed to be training her, right? Sure. So their first “lesson” consisted of “Reinhardt” hovering Grizz over a canyon or whatever and saying, “Save him, you must!” which Piper then OBVIOUSLY does because she’s so mighty and powerful and all-knowing. Then it’s all, “That’s it for your first lesson – well done!” and blah blah. Why does she even need “training” if she’s already so powerful? And don’t get me started about the whole having-to-talk-to-use-my-magic bit. All the “help me’s” and “save them’s” made me roll my eyes. You couldn’t have made those commands internally? It’s not like she’s saying a spell or something – she’s literally talking to whatever element/power/being/spirit/whatever that her magic stems from, but we STILL don’t have any explanation as to what that might be? Needless to say I’m done with this series, and done with this author. I just wasted my time on something that shouldn’t have made it past production, which is a shame because I really like Merc, and Knox, for that matter. Way to ruin a good thing.

Book two of the Force of Nature series was spectacular! I loved everything about this book from beginning to end!!! Into The Storm picks up right where book 1 From The Ashes left off at. I don't know about anyone else but after finishing From The Ashes I was as far away from Team Merc as I could get. Amber Lynn certainly has a way with words as I was all for Team Alpha Knox at the end of From The Ashes and even three chapters into book 2, Into The Storm. Now I am confused with my indecision as I'm not sure if this will lead into a reverse harem scenario or not (once you finish the entirety of Into The Storm you'll understand what I'm saying). Piper has been given two choices for a mate. She is already mated to Merc (we learned this in From The Ashes) but now Knox is showing the same characteristics of having Piper be a destined mate as well. The question is now where will the story lead after THAT ending! Shock and excitement were the only two emotional feelings I had after reading the last chapter now I just need to know two things. One is there going to be a book 3 (Praying for YES I need MORE) and two how soon can I click the pre-order button!
Thank you Kindle Unlimited for bring this series to my attention!!
Into the Storm did not disappoint at all. Why? Oh, because ....
1. Piper 2. More action
During the first book, Piper is portrayed weak and I actually didn't like her character that much. In the second book, Piper's character development is phenomenal. I liked her a lot better in this book. Even though I loved her more, I just didn't care about the love triangle. After reading so many books with that in the plot it gets kind of boring (at least to me--sorry!!). I still want to end up with a certain someone and I'm not saying who. I really hope, if there is a Book 3, that the "love triangle" will end.
Now onto the action part. I don't want to spoil anything but it definitely was a page turner. It was really hard to put this book down. I mean if you look at what I gave the first book, From the Ashes I gave it 2 stars....and for this book I'm giving it 4. That's a huge improvement! It honestly shocked me that this book was just so much better.
I'm really happy that every character, especially Piper, were written so much better. Loved it.
The Force of Nature series is one of my favorites from Amber Lynn Natusch. Into the Storm does not disappoint! It was totally worth the wait. There is so much awesome in this book! Action from start to finish, there is never a dull moment. Piper is such a badass, and I really loved seeing her kick ass and take names in this book. Gone is the girl who was lost and helpless. The relationships grow deeper and stronger between the characters, both new and old. Kat is my favorite feisty friend who takes shit from no one. She is first in line to give Piper (and anyone for that matter) a swift kick in the ass when she needs it. Merc and Knox are still swoon-worthy as ever, Piper definitely has her hands full with those two. And let us not forget Grizz! The lovable, over protective, I'll-eat-your-face-off-if-you-touch-her bear who has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to anyone who messes with Piper. I love that bear!
Into the Storm is a great read that takes you on a wild ride full of twists and turns to make you laugh and cry. I highly recommend it!
Into the Storm was about a hundred times better than the previous book in the series, there is really no comparison. Natusch is famous for this in all her series, so it is not surprising. I loved seeing Piper grow into her own and become a literal force of nature throughout the book. Her character development was next level compared to before with her becoming a well rounded character. I laughed a lot while reading this because the dynamics of having vampires and werewolves all vying to protect Piper and living together is something else. What I really enjoyed is the progression of the story and how you actually learn more about each characters past, but you also get the answers you want without having to hold until the next book or become frustrated by muddled explanations. The only part of this story overall that I am not keen with is the love triangle aspect, but I'm betting that isn't going to drag on much longer. Definitely worth a read, especially if you have kindle unlimited. :)
I loved it! Every second of this story pulled me in, sucked me under and made me turned the pages faster. Piper, oh Piper! How she comes into her own, granted crazily and madly. She's a force to be reckoned with. The triangle of her, Merc and Knox. I know who I'm rooting for but Ms. Natusch is certainly making me work for that ending knowledge, oh how I love it and hate it! Bravo madam, I salute you. Don't get me wrong dear readers, it's not all roses and sunshine, that isn't our beloved authors way. I laughed, I darn near cried, I wanted to smash someone's face in, my heart broke, but I'd never have it any other way. Now about my favorite cuddly bear, Grizz....totally did not see that coming! Nope, that one was a wow, holy crap, I love it, love it, love it moment! If you haven't started this series yet, I suggest you do!! Now my struggle to wait begins..... How soon before book 3 will be out!?
It seems we have hit a dead end here. I never really could tell how the plot was going to develop, but especially now. I just don't see where the story can go from here. What's the end goal? Also, the second book just couldn't hold my attention for long, not like the first book did. Then there's relationship, which is also going nowhere. On the one hand there's Merc, who I really like, but don't see any point in pursuing. I mean, why restore a bond that will have to be broken either way when . On the other hand, there's Knox, who I just don't like, plain and simple. I don't like how evasive he is about his past. It's all seems shady. Also, Piper has become somewhat unstable, in my opinion. It doesn't take much for her to loose her shit and start burning people now. The only character that I actually still like is Grizz. I want my own personal bear friend like him.
First off, I am thrilled with Piper's character development. She is no longer the weak damsel in distress that I had trouble connecting to in Book 1. She has taken her past and used it to better herself and become stronger. I could not give it 4 or 5 stars because of the love triangle. While I know some readers love it, I am not one of them. If I had known there was one, I would have never read book 1. I was led to believe the triangle was scarce in Book 2... Untrue.
If Book 3 is the final chapter, I will read it. If it is not, then I will not continue the series. Nothing against the author, I just did not pick this story up expecting a romance, let alone a love triangle. Gag.
This book continues where the first one left off. If you don't like love triangles I'd skip this one. The whole book has our h stringing the two guys along. They seem happy enough about it but as the book went on I cared less and less. I just want her to choose hell keep both of them but what she's doing isn't fair and falls in the cheating area. We learn more about her lineage but even that is far from clear. I'd still like a good reason why all these powerful people hate her on sight. Not a big cliffhanger but the book ends with nothing resolved just postponed.
With more practice I think this author will be great but more focus is needed on development. I do like how they add in snippets of foreshowing when telling the story (and I'm not normally a fan).
Wow! Just wow... there is so much that happens in this book. We get some answers about Piper, Knox and Merc’s pasts, but there is still so much more that we don’t know. Piper grows so much in this story, and it is heartbreaking to see her caught between the two men in her life, I will say I am a bit terrified of how this story will end. Usually I am not much for love triangles, but this book does such a great job with it. There is definitely some surprises in this book and I expect a few more as the series goes on. This story is so well written and I have a feeling that when I look back at the end I will see little tidbits that make more sense.
I loved this book, and I am so excited to see where Piper’s story goes next.
All I can say is "tighten your seatbelt" as you're in for a wild ride with all the characters in this the 2nd book of Ms. Natusch's Force of Nature series... Piper continues to discover her "gifts" and her parentage as the story unfolds and who wouldn't want the predicament of 2 hunky males vying for her "love".. Quite the triangle.... I think I clapped when Grizz was magically transformed into a "fine" male specimen....and who doesn't want to first pump Kat! We all need a friend like her! I'm caught up in "Into The Storm" and can't wait for what's next!
Hello everyone! This is the second book I've managed to finish right away. I have no regrets doing so either. It looks like the plot twists that took place could be a predicted, but how the characters play out you'll realize you'll love them, hate them, and love them again. Grizz gets an upgrade. Merc is vocal, and Knox is hmm...... hot. But then there is ...... another warlock alpha in the picture. And Kat is finding a way to survive in all of this mess. I'd recommend it.
I have to say book two is way better than book One. There is very little romance this time around and more self-discovery on the heroines part but the best thing about this book is the grizzly bear Grizz.
This is not a standalone so you have to read book One. Piper is our heroine and her Warlock familiar/guardian is a grizzly bear. He has a mind of his own and at times seems very much like a human.
Can't wait to read book three. What happens with the love triangle?
Book 2 of the Forces of Nature series, Into the Storm picked up where book one left off, and I have to say, it surpassed all my expectations, Piper powers are now making themselves known, and heaven help those on the receiving end... surrounded by a host of entertaining characters, including Grizz, a bear who has totally stolen my heart, this book really does have it all...hold on tight, you're in for a wild ride
This girl really is a force of nature. Part fairy and part warlock , and very powerful! She has become a part of a fearsome group of supernatural beings. All of which have become a large family. I have never been a big Fran of a love triangle. Someone always gets hurt. However, this triangle gives piper emotional balance. At least for now.
I really hope there is a part three in the near future. I am anxious to see how this ends.
I started the first book in this series two days ago and just finished this book today. I just could not put these books down. Piper and her people are so fully developed I felt as this was my life. This book is fast paced and takes you on a roller coaster of a ride, I hope Amber is busy writing because I can not wait to find out what the next journey is in these characters lives.
5 stars because I love this series. The characters are fun and deep, each with their own past making them who they are today. The writer is very creative in how these small details leak out through out the story. As for Piper, she has more clues to who she is, part warlock, part Fey. And Grizzly finally gets a human skin suit. There is always so much to this authors books, I never want to put them down! Can't wait for book 3.
