About my wrist is a tattoo of roses, strung like beads on a bracelet of thorns. I have a past, if only I could remember — but I cannot remember.

Held captive in a strange city, Dana dreams of fire and flight. There is something she must find, but she does not know what it is, or why it is important. If only her dreams would let her rest.

Half a world away, Will studies a new, exciting discipline. But while enchantress N'tombe is impressed by his newfound skills, inside he feels only desperation. A terrible moment is approaching. Soon, Dana must face her final ordeal.

Is his new power enough to save her? And is he prepared for what might happen next?

In this thrilling conclusion to the award-winning SoulNecklace Stories, Will and Dana must make a heart-breaking choice. A choice that will change their world forever.

Going into reading A Memory of Fire, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. Having read and enjoyed the first two books, where would the journeys of Dana and Will come to a conclusion? I highly recommend ‘binge-reading’ the three books in this series back to back so that you don’t miss out on all of the fantasy world-building and adventures. The decision both characters had to come to regarding their future together absolutely broke my heart, I don’t get that emotionally attached to a story that often but with reading this, my past reading experiences had been thrown out the window. The aspects of this series as a whole that really appealed to me were the storyline with the dreams, they were visual and blended in so well with the main happenings in the book, the no insta-love and most importantly, I love reading YA Fantasy books that truly make me feel that I am experiencing the same things as Will and Dana did (well, I probably wouldn’t want to be on a boat) but that’s just me. Overall, a lovely series that transported me away from reality, perfect for fans of Ruined by Amy Tintera and The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye!

The spell-binding conclusion to the trilogy, A Memory of Fire is as memorising and eloquently written as its predecessors. Even without reading book two, it had me engrossed, although I would definitely recommend reading the trilogy in order (and a re-read will be in order for me!).

R.L Stedman is a New Zealand author, living in Otago. The first book in the trilogy, Necklace of Souls, received the Tessa Duder award in 2012 and has gone on to receive several more. It begins with Dana, a princess with a haunting destiny, bearing the burden of true dreaming. An orphaned boy, Will, takes up residence in the castle, first baking bread, then training as a warrior. He and Dana become drawn to one another, and romance blossoms.

A Memory of Fire begins with Will and Dana separated. Dana has sacrificed herself to save those she loves, and is now held captive in a strange city, her mind kept harnessed with drugs. She will have to entrust an unlikely ally to escape. Half a world away, Will is learning a new discipline in fighting - being trained by an enemy-turned-friend. But for all that he is learning, he wishes for nothing more than to be reunited with Dana, and with the help of his companions, an enchantress and a warrior, he will set out across an earthquake-ravaged landscape to be with her. However, many obstacles stand in their way, including betrayal.

With strong characters, especially in Dana, I would recommend this series to young adults (and adult adults!) who enjoy the likes of Sarah J Maas. They are engrossing, well-written, and evocative, compelling enough to draw you thoroughly into their worlds and hold you captive until the conclusion. Best read together, in close succession, I suspect!

A Memory of Fire is an adventure filled with magic. A battle between light and dark. It's a predestined story.

Dana is a princess who sacrifices herself to save her loved one. She is now being held captive under the influence of drugs and she is more or less in a permanent dream state.

Will has embarked on the rough seas in the hope to reach his loved one, before it's too late. He has an enchantress and a warrior as his friends and companions.

Dana's dreams sometimes merge with reality and with the help of her guardians, she becomes aware of some of the realities. She is in danger and in a foreign land full of dark magic. Her life is in the hands of the Emperor! She finds an ally in the least likely person, but she has no other choice. She entrusts her with her secret.

By now, Will has discovered that he is not just a peasant. He is a force to be reckoned with. His main focus is getting to Dana before she faces her terrible fate. The problem is that when one thing goes right, something else goes wrong. Will there be an end to this ongoing battle?

There are friends who are loyal and those blinded by greed and power.

This is story is well portrayed and full of mystery and surprises. It's an intriguing mystical and magical concept that kept me on my toes. It's fascinating to watch the mysteries unfold! I would recommend to fans of the supernatural.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

I want to start by thanking the author for sending me this book. I also want to say thank you to the author for writing such an amazing series. l have been following Will and Dana from their beginning to their end, and it has been an amazing journey.

The last book. This book was an amazing end to that beautiful journey. To see how Dana evolves as a woman, but also as a young lady in love is breathtaking. The same goes for Will's journey, as a reader you can't but fall in love with him. Even if the book is an all fantasy book, and everything in it is fantasy. It gives the reader (at least me) the hope that everyone can have that transforming if they just want it enough.
When it comes to the writing I can only say BRAVO! The language is easy to read, and the book is really well written. Simply a pleasure to read!

I'm taking my hat off for the author, she has done an amazing job. Hope I will have the pleasure of reading more of her work in the near future!

P.S: I'm really going to miss Will, Dana, N'tomebe, and Rosa

Fantastic job. Well done. Kudos.

A great story wrapped up nicely. At first, I was a bit perturbed when, as you expect, the Eternal One is killed but Dana and Will not not yet together. Then I noticed that I still had about a third of the book to go. While good and evil may be never ending, a good story reaches a conclusion. And so it is for the SoulNecklace Stories.

I was given this as an ARC by the author; however, the review and rating rating are mine and mine alone.

This book was fantastic. The series so far is definitely a must read. The story continues on at a great pace from the last two books, and RL Stedman keeps me wanting more. This is the kind of story that draws you in. I could not put this book down.

This is a 3 and a half star read for me. Concluding the Necklace of Souls trilogy, this novel is not quite as tightly written as the first two books but still a good read, and a fitting ending for all the characters you've come to love
