Falling Heat

Rate this book
Gina Winters never thought New York would become dull and routine, but after five years of working a soul-sucking job and struggling through night school, she questions whether her dream is worth the fight. Her romantic life offers no reprieve – thanks to a string of bad dates, she’s given up on men, too.

Saul Henderson clawed his way up the corporate ladder, no matter what the cost to his personal life. The demise of everything else meant nothing in the face of finally getting a corner office on Wall Street with a partner track. Dating is a distraction he can’t afford – not this close to his goal.

When Saul rescues Gina from the terrifying prospect of bad coffee, an undeniable spark flares to life. Will the burnt-out dreamer and the jaded go-getter find more than just attraction to bring them together? Or is this just another empty one-night stand in the making?

Oh. My. Golly. I loved this book! I'm a huge romance fan and when I read a new romance book, I want three things: fun banter, hot tension and satisfying sex scenes. This book has all three in spades and SO much more.

Gina and Saul randomly meet one morning at a NYC coffee shop and hit it off while chatting in line. They go their separate ways and don't expect to see each other again...but there's a spark. They both think about each other as they go about their separate days. What follows is a memorable evening that both Gina and Saul will have a hard time ever forgetting.

It's written in dual perspectives, which I don't normally like, but this book did an excellent job with it. Saul and Gina's voices were unique and each time it switched I never had a difficult time following along. I loved knowing both of their thought processes. It gave better insight into their actions and the dialogue.

The banter was KILLER. Seriously. Conversations between Saul and Gina were funny and flowed naturally. I chuckled out loud MANY times :) It was honestly like listening to a real-life couple chatting and flirting. It was such a nice change from the overly cheesy conversations that happen a lot in romance books.

The naughty scenes were very, very naughty (yay! I'm a huge fan). The author does an amazing job building tension and heat without it being trashy. It can be a difficult line to walk, but in this book, it totally works.

I didn't want to put this book down when I read it. I reads so quickly, you're done before you know it. I finished it wanting to know what happens next for Saul and Gina. I seriously can't wait for Lexi to release her second book! If you're looking for a quick, dirty and hot read, Falling Heat is perfect!
