Like all of Jeaniene Frost's books, this one was packed with action and entertainment.
Something I really like from her books and that is also present in this series, is that the females are always strong, independent, resourceful and loyal to their friends and loves ones.
Something I really like of the male MCs is that they are not black and white. They are a mix of good and bad (predominately good in the end though),trustworthy, strong, loyal and they love completely.
I can't really complain about her character development, I really like them all.
Jeanine remains one of my favorite writers, I love how she thinks and portraits love stories, and how she always shows humor even when the circumstances are tragic. However, I miss the potency that the romance had in the Night Huntress Series. I like the romance in this series, but it is not as memorable and I don't feel as connected to it and invested in their relationship as I was with the love between Kat and Bones.
This book is interesting and keeps you entertained. It has emotions, but for me it needs to go deeper, it needs to dedicate more time to emotional conflicts so I can get really engaged with the characters and story, instead, there is so much action that it robs me from truly connecting. The last books I have read from Jeaniene Frost have started a pattern of more and more action being present in them. I wouldn't mind it as much if if wasn't because that action in robbing space to the emotional side of the stories.
I'll move on to the next installment and I am really hoping for a 4 stars at least.

The Sweetest Burn is the second installment in Jeaniene Frost's new-adult/urban fantasy series titled Broken Destiny. This story picks up not very long after the first book The Beautiful Ashes ends, and I admit, I didn't re-read the first book or refresh my memory in any way before starting this one. Since it's been a long three-year stretch in between these two books, it took a little bit to remember all the former happenings but it wasn't too long before everything fell into place. This story is fast paced and action packed. Even so, I found it difficult to find significant investment in this story, the characters, and the romance in general. This may be because of the three years in between books or it may be that I'm just not digging the series...I'm not sure. Regardless, I'm committing to one more book (because Ms. Frost is amazing!). If you love this author as I do, or you enjoy urban fantasy with new-adult aged characters, give this series a shot.

I liked this book. After having mixed feelings about the first book in the series, The Beautiful Ashes, I had considered not reading this book. I decided to give it a try in the end and actually liked it more than the first book in the series. I do think that this is a series that needs to be read in order. This book picks up shortly after the events of the first book and is really a continuing story. I am very glad that I made the decision to give this book a chance.
I love the world that this story is set in. It is like the world we live in but with a few extra features available to certain people. In other words, most people don't see the things that Ivy and Adrian see and I like the idea of the something extra. In some cases, people really just don't want to believe what they are seeing. It was rather exciting to go with Ivy and Adrian to all of the realms and deal with so many different issues.
Ivy and Adrian's relationship takes some big steps in this book. I do really like them as a couple and was happy to see things progress for them. At the start of the book, Ivy did drive me a bit nuts by being a tad dramatic. I understood why she was upset but maybe she could have found out why things happened the way they did. It just seemed to slow the story down at times.
There were some pretty interesting developments in the overall story. I really didn't expect the artifacts to work for Ivy quite the way that they did and I found it to be really creative. They spend a lot of this story looking for the second artifact which is a staff. We learn a lot about Adrian's history as they search through different areas.
I did enjoy the narration of this audiobook. Tavia Gilbert does a really good job with the character voices which helped to bring the story to life. I thought that she really added a lot of emotion to her delivery which made everything a bit more exciting. I thought that her voice was very pleasant and I found myself listening to the book for hours at a time.
I would recommend this book to others. I can't say that I like this series as much as the Night Huntress series but it is quite entertaining. In the end, I found it to be quite enjoyable and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

THE SWEETEST BURN is the highly anticipated second book in the Broken Destiny series by Jeaniene Frost. It’s been three years since the first book in the series debuted so I was really wondering what happened to this series and if there was ever going to be a sequel. When I realized that we were finally going to get it, I jumped at the chance at reading it.
Now I would it’s important to read this series in order. Or, if you’re like me, to take the time to reread the first book again before jumping into this one. While Frost does do some recap in the beginning of this book, I really think it’s important to refresh yourself because of the relationship aspect of this book. The worldbuilding is complex and unique but actually fairly simple to pick up and understand. I think the real thing readers need to focus on is the relationship between Ivy and Adrian. In the last book, a big betrayal occurs and therefore, in this book, we are looking at a second chance. I think if you jumped into this book without reading or refreshing yourself then you’d miss that emotional impact to connect with Ivy’s character.
The writing in this book is fairly simple. I remember when the first book debuted, it was marketed as a New Adult Paranormal Romance. I do still kind of get that feeling from it, but it’s also clear that the author has tried to make it less New Adult and more PNR and Urban Fantasy in style. I’m not sure how I feel about this because it does make it seem inconsistent. Even the new covers reflect a more Adult style. However if you are a PNR fan, the sexiness is amped up and the tension between Ivy and Adrian becomes more pronounce.
The book is on the shorter side and I did feel like everything kind of happened really quickly. The action scenes are fast, which I normally don’t mind, but I didn’t think there were enough moments of pause to really maintain a good balance. That being said, you can easily finish this book in one sitting.
The epilogue didn’t hit as hard as I imagined it would be. But it does create some questions that I’m sure will be addressed in the next book. I look forward to seeing what Frost has in store for readers next.

Protagonisten
Ivy ist ein taffes Mädchen, das ihre Prinzipien hat und noch an das Gute in den Menschen glaubt. Sie hat eine wichtige Bestimmung und diese Last wiegt schwer auf ihren Schultern. Für einige Dinge ist sie einfach nicht stark genug und muss immer wieder ihr Leben riskieren, aber das tut sie, wenn es bedeutet, die Menschen vor den Dämonen zu bewahren. Sie wurde von Adrian verraten und hat wegen seiner Bestimmung Angst, dass es wieder passieren wird. Aber sie fühlt sich noch zu ihm hingezogen und würde ihm gern vertrauen, aber die Umstände machen es ihr sehr schwer.
Adrian, der heiße und starke, mächtige Mann hat sich kaum verändert. Man erfährt mehr über seine Vergangenheit und kann seine Aktionen noch besser nachvollziehen. Auch seine Zuneigung zu Ivy wird besprochen und man sieht, wie wichtig sie ihm ist. Er möchte sie nie wieder verraten und will nur ihr Vertrauen und wirkt in diesem Buch oft traurig und gequält. Ivy denkt immer nur an ihn, und er ist ja auch immer in der Nähe und auch so wichtig für ihre Mission, dass sie sehr oft mit ihm allein ist.
Jasmin ist sehr abweisend und aggressiv. Sie hat in den Reichen vieles durchmachen müssen und hasst die Dämonen nun noch mehr als Ivy. Dieser Hass erstreckt sich auch auf Adrian, was es Iva weiter erschwert, sich ihm zu nähern. Jasmin möchte ihre Schwester unbedingt beschützen, aber sie kann halt eigentlich nicht wirklich etwas tun. Das hat mich dann etwas genervt, weil sie sich immer eingemischt hat und eine Zicke war, und dabei nichts beigetragen hat.
Zach war mal wieder selten hilfreich. Er ist zwar immer wieder aufgetaucht, um neue Dinge zu enthüllen, aber dabei hat er trotzdem noch sehr viel für sich behalten und manchmal waren die Informationen auch nicht besonders hilfreich. Ich fand es aber besser als im ersten Teil!
Handlung und Schreibstil
Wie im ersten Teil wird auch hier nach einem mächtigen magischen Gegenstand gesucht und man weiß auch schon, dass das auch im dritten Teil der Fall sein wird. Ein wenig langweilig und vorhersehbar, aber so gab es ein Ziel und immer Action, weil sie eben auf einer Suche waren.
Aber es gab kaum etwas Neues, es kam mir oft so vor, als würden sich viele Handlungen aus dem ersten Teil wiederholen. Da gab es dieses ganze Hin und Her bei Ivy und Adrian, ohne richtigen Fortschritt, und auch das war ein wenig frustrierend.
Es gab aber einige Mysterien und Geheimnisse, die nach und nach aufgedeckt wurden, sowie einige aktionsreiche Szenen, die das Buch trotzdem spannend gemacht haben.
Fazit
"Broken Destiny - Dämonenrache" hat mir nicht so gut gefallen wie der erste Teil. Zwar gab es wieder fast die gleichen Elemente, aber das ist ja nicht unbedingt gut, weil man es eben schon kennt. Stattdessen kam es mir so vor, als ob es nur eine etwas schlechtere Kopie von Band 1.

I read the first book in this series, but when I picked up this second installment in the Broken Destiny trilogy, I could not remember a single thing that happened. That’s what happens when a publisher takes a three years pause between books. Even as I continued to read here, very few of the details came back to me. The good news is, Jeanine Frost does such a great job of filling in the blanks, even a brand new reader could jump into this book and understand what’s going on.
The biggest things you need to know are as follows: Ivy and Adrian are destined for tragedy. She is the last Davidian. He’s the last in their long line of betrayers. And betray her he did in book 1. Now he wants to make amends. The two of them are in love, but Ivy doesn’t trust him not to fulfill his destiny again. Meanwhile, Adrian will do anything to win her back.
Just as Ivy had to recover a lost holy artifact in The Beautiful Ashes, so too does she have to do it here. Now she is searching for the staff of Moses to seal the growing rifts between our world and the demonic one. And to do it, she takes an around the world road trip with Adrian, his BFF, her sister, and her pet gargoyle.
I’m pretty sure this series was marketed as New Adult, and I guess it is, in that the heroine is only 21 and a virgin at the beginning of the book. She’s also a bit immature as she faces some nearly impossible circumstances. Like how she deals with and thinks about the angel Zach. Or her actions that seem impetuous. But youth aside, she’s an ok heroine. She tries to do the right thing, and it’s hard to fault her for falling for Adrian when he’s just so delicious.
The book moves fast and it’s easy reading. The world-building is solid and the action sequences are entertaining and plentiful. As for the romance, it definitely moves to the next level here. It actually takes a turbo jump. Which primes the story perfectly for the ending. It’s not surprising, because destiny is what it is. But it made sense and it was in keeping with everything we knew about the characters.
I will definitely read book 3 to see how it all ends. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait that long. I’m looking forward to more of Frost’s super sexy scenes and good one liners. (Favorite quote: I found the staff. And it is mighty. — You’re damn right it is.)

I am really enjoying this series.
It is different than I am used to and Ivy is a pretty kick-ass character.
I liked that this book didn’t start after book 1, sometimes not a lot but some has passed and I felt that brought more to the story by doing that than anything else really.
Adrian really steps up in this book and this is where I feel for the HERO finally. He showed Ivy he was all in and that part well it was my favorite hands down.
This book had just as much action as book 1 so there never really were dead spots and that kept me interested. I am looking forward to book 3.
Tavia does another great job with the narration.

It’s been about three years since the release of the first Broken Destiny book, so as excited as I was to read The Sweetest Burn, I was afraid I just wouldn’t be able to get into the story because it’d been so long since I was immersed in the Broken Destiny world. Thankfully, this didn’t happen – as soon as I opened up the first page of this long-awaited sequel, I was sucked back into this new(ish) world Jeaniene Frost created. It was almost as if I didn’t have to wait three years to read this, which impressed me immensely. If you were a fan of The Beautiful Ashes and have been waiting anxiously to continue the series, wait no more! Ivy and Adrian are back – and even better than they were before.
As the last Davidian, Ivy is the only person capable of wielding the three artifacts that hold the power to destroy demons and save humanity. Adrian is fated to be her enemy and downfall, but somehow fate got a little twisted and these two fell in love with each other. At the end of the first book, after finding the first artifact, Adrian had left Ivy for her own good – but now he’s back and ready to help Ivy again on her journey to finding the second and third artifacts, all the while proving his love and devotion to her.
Much of the first book felt like it was a set-up for the rest of the series. It had potential… and that potential was finally realized in The Sweetest Burn! I have to say I enjoyed this sequel so much more than the first book, mainly because of how much more I liked the characters. I felt like we get to know Ivy and Adrian a lot better, after all the trials and tribulations they overcome and still have waiting for them in the future.
This book was pretty fast-paced and easy to read. The action was intense and exciting, but it was definitely the romance that had me hooked onto the pages. I loved how determined Adrian was to win Ivy’s heart – he’s so lovable, charming, and protective! Ivy herself is a great heroine – a little too self-sacrificing, but I admired her strength and how she took to learning her newfound Davidian powers.
I’m SO excited to see how this series will end. There’s a little twist at the end of The Sweetest Burn that I’m sure will stir up a lot of trouble in the next and final book of this trilogy, and I can’t wait to see how it goes! I’m also so glad we don’t have to wait for another few years for the last book – it’s only a few months away in November!

It’s been about three years since the release of the first Broken Destiny book, so as excited as I was to read The Sweetest Burn, I was afraid I just wouldn’t be able to get into the story because it’d been so long since I was immersed in the Broken Destiny world. Thankfully, this didn’t happen – as soon as I opened up the first page of this long-awaited sequel, I was sucked back into this new(ish) world Jeaniene Frost created. It was almost as if I didn’t have to wait three years to read this, which impressed me immensely. If you were a fan of The Beautiful Ashes and have been waiting anxiously to continue the series, wait no more! Ivy and Adrian are back – and even better than they were before.
As the last Davidian, Ivy is the only person capable of wielding the three artifacts that hold the power to destroy demons and save humanity. Adrian is fated to be her enemy and downfall, but somehow fate got a little twisted and these two fell in love with each other. At the end of the first book, after finding the first artifact, Adrian had left Ivy for her own good – but now he’s back and ready to help Ivy again on her journey to finding the second and third artifacts, all the while proving his love and devotion to her.
“I didn’t want to know you, like you, need you, or most of all, love you, but I did. I still do. You are my destiny, Ivy, just not how everyone predicted. Now, when I think of the future, I think of spending it with you.”
Much of the first book felt like it was a set-up for the rest of the series. It had potential… and that potential was finally realized in The Sweetest Burn! I have to say I enjoyed this sequel so much more than the first book, mainly because of how much more I liked the characters. I felt like we get to know Ivy and Adrian a lot better, after all the trials and tribulations they overcome and still have waiting for them in the future.

I think this story tried to hard to be unique and failed. I have to be honest here, I just really didn't enjoy this story. Maybe because of the time in between, but I doubt it. I didn't much like the first book but gave this one a shot.
The world building in this story could be great. The premise is interesting enough. However, the execution makes the story come off as ridiculous as sparkling vampires should have been (though they weren't). The black diamond, soul tying and a few other things had me rolling my eyes, a lot.
I think for me I wasn't attached to the characters either. Again, time between releases??? Maybe, but Ivy was a lot self-righteous, yet she would do the same things to others that she complained about. Pot and kettle, much?
The narrator was great, but I wished she hadn't used Vlad's voice for Adrian. It made it hard to disconnect the two stories. And Tavia has a wealth of voices. She didn't use Bones's voice for anyone else.
Overall, this was a fail for me. Maybe I've read too many PNR/UF books in a row and it feels like I've heard it all? I don't know, but I love this author and will buy the next book in the series. Partly because of her and partly because there is so little in new PRN/UF, beggars can't be choosers. Here's hoping to the final (hopefully, final) installment of this series will be a lot stronger than the first two.
But I won't tell you not to read it. You may love it. So give it a shot!!!

I found this slow going and a bit dull in places.I didn't like The Beautiful Ashes and only read this because I've enjoyed so many of her other book but not re-reading meant I was a bit at sea with the plot and all the different characters, powers and bloodlines so I found it confusing in places because I had no idea what was going on, you really would need to remember the basic plot and outline of the world to understand it properly.
I didn't like Ivy and Adrian's relationship last time and I'm not a fan of it this time either. The characters didn't seem to have much depth to their personality and Ivy is so determined to be nice that she nearly gets herself killed a few times (it just seems dumb to risk her life when she's humanity's only hope to try and save like 5 people).
I found the story quite repetitive, it seemed like they kept doing the same thing again and again with minor variations (turn up somewhere looking for the staff and get attacked by demon/minions).
The book just didn't have much going for it for me to enjoy and then it ended with a cliffhanger.
Also is it just me who can only think of the little cute yellow things the second they hear the word minion.

The Sweetest Burn was a long time coming. It took me awhile to bring the happenings of Beautiful Ashes into play since it was 3 years ago this series debuted but I feel that THE SWEETEST BURN can stand on its own.
The Sweetest Burn leaves off a few months after The Beautiful Ashes ended. Ivy, her sister and a gargoyle disguised as a seagull are all living in Florida near the beach. Ivy is wondering what the heck has happened to Adrian, since he’s just disappeared from her life. Ivy is fuming mad about Adrian’s disappearance only to find herself suddenly reunited with Adrian, with a little help from Zach.
Zach has a mission for Ivy, Adrian and the gang, find the next holy item of power before the demons.
I really enjoyed most of the storytelling, although a large portion of the book seemed to have Adrian’s and Ivy’s discussing their predisposed destiny which inevitably made the epilogue predictable and not a surprise.
Frost writes snarky, fun characters adds a pretty steady action extreme plot then twists an interesting blending of religious beliefs to formulate a colorful and vivid clash between good and evil and all the gray areas in between.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The second book in the Broken Destinies series can be read as a standalone. It is recommended to read the first book to understand how this all begins. Full disclosure, I did not read the first book and I was still fine catching up with Ms. Frost's concise recaps.
This is a book filled with conflict and moral lessons. I liked it because the character is constantly in turmoil trying to decide what to do. Ivy is the last descendant of David. As the last Descendant, she is the one who can wield three artifacts which can bring about the destruction of Demons. If it was easy, there would be no story. Ms. Frost throws in so many obstacles, I am impressed with her cruelty and ruthlessness. Because these hardships is a kindness to Ivy as it brings about her character development. As Ivy bemoans, what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger.
From what I can tell, Ivy is an idealistic young woman who wants to save everyone. She is neither experienced nor jaded like Adrian or Zach. This is an important point, because it brings about the question of why it is the youth who make the changes. Is it because they don't know enough and are dumb enough to think they can do it? Because they believe it can be done with a bit of hope, they actually succeed? Whilst an older jaded person will know it is not possible and they will not try. Is this a self fulfilling prophecy for both the young/dumb and the old/wiser? Is it really wiser when a person gives up hope? What I liked about this book in my old age is not the characters - it is what each character represented and how idealists become pragmatist with enough experience.
Ivy is a character with determination and grit. She is like Buffy, before Buffy died, went to heaven and was pulled back down to earth. Ivy still believes that being given the answers and taking the easy way is the most expedited way to save the world. She misses a very important point that Zach is trying to teach her. Zach is like Yoda to her Luke. And I felt bad for Zach. It is clear he has been given parameters which he must abide. His methods and reasons are rather transparent for me yet unfathomable by Ivy. However, I think about if I was still in my early twenties, I would probably respond the same way as Ivy. Ivy sputters in self righteous indignation, certain that Zach is unhelpful. Ms. Frost's interplay between Zach and Ivy, Zach and Adrian is poignant and harsh. It reminds me of all my Chinese teachers, they educate through tough love.
The plot to this story is a fascinating interpretation of biblical characters, events and artifacts. I usually shy away from Christian reinterpretations because they usually cross a blasphemous line I have difficulty ignoring due to my upbringing. However, there are a few authors who write it in a way that is thought provoking and doesn't generate a subconscious response of outrage at heretic postulations. Ms. Frost is one of them. She is respectful of a religion and brings about a paranormal story with rich imagery, characters and a plausible unseen world. She leaves openings for spin-offs as well as hooks a reader into this dark, nearly apocalyptic world. The set up for betrayal and fighting one's destiny is well done. She cleverly places Ivy and Adrian in a prisoner's dilemma with their heritage and foretold destiny. A key point Ms. Frost does emphasis is choice. I especially liked how choice, even when a person does not feel the choices are good, is still a choice. This is a hard lesson to learn and understand for many. This is the kind of book which generates discussions cross generations in a book club. I love it. This book is recommended to those who enjoy anti-heroes, the harsh realities of sacrifice all tempered with love, loyalty and hope. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.

The Sweetest Burn is the second book in author Jeaniene Frost’s Broken Destiny series and after reading, and loving, the first book I was so excited to dive into this second installment. Well, let me just say, it was everything I had hoped for any more.
Let me start out by saying that yes, you really should read the first book in the series. I don’t think you’d understand a lot of what was going on with the search Ivy and Adrian are on and you certainly wouldn’t feel the depth of the connections all of these characters have made.
Speaking of the connections and the search…holy moly do things really heat up in this book! Ivy and Adrian are reunited, tumultuously at first, and head of on the search for the second on Ivy’s list of hallowed artifacts that will help her bring balance to the world and the good vs. evil fight. The search for the new item brings Ivy and Adrian even closer when they both realize after too many close calls and brushes with death that they are truly meant to be. I won’t ruin anything for you but let me say, they have a total swoon worthy moment that had me smiling through happy tears.
Now, of course, while all of the reuniting is going on, we are in the middle of the quest for Ivy’s next weapon. That search brings tons of danger and more than a few surprises along the way. Friendships are tested and some family bonds are broken while others are strengthened. There were more than a few “no way” moments during this book as secrets were reveled and I loved it. While I hate being to vague, I certainly don’t want to spoil this story for you so you have to trust me when I tell you that it was phenomenal.
This series is filled with characters I adore, especially Brutus, and a journey that has me glued to each page. I cannot wait to see what happens next with Ivy, Adrian, and the gang. I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next installment! Thank you, Ms. Frost, for another fabulous read!

I had higher expectations of this book. It dragged and was utterly predictable. Still I plan to get around to the last book of the trilogy just to see if it'll get better.

We've waited awhile for this second part to the Broken Destiny series. I'm not upset about it as I know Jeaniene went through a great deal over these past couple of years. I'm just glad we finally have it and I got to read it.
It's been so long since I read the first one that I forgot a bit of it but this book does a good job of refreshing points from the previous book but not taking up too much time with that. In the previous book Adrian did everything he could to stay away from Ivy because of his destiny to kill her as the last Judian and she, the last Davidian. However, things have reversed in this one as Adrian loves Ivy (as he did in the last book and admitted it before pushing her out of the demon realm) and wants to prove to her that he won't betray her. All the while, they are searching for the staff of Moses which can close off the human realm from all the demon realms.
It is a madcap journey and Ivy wants to fight her feelings for Adrian because of his betrayal but eventually realizes he truly loves her and doesn't want to betray her. It's a sweet story and a fun read to learn about these two and their feelings for each other.
While I didn't get the va-va-voom feelings like we see between Vlad and Leila, Cat and Bones, this is still a good series. I look forward to the final book in the series especially after that ending. I think it comes out next month or the one after that so not too long to wait.

Full review to come, but stellar work from Jeaniene Frost. I liked this one even better than THE BEAUTIFUL ASHES, and found the chemistry between Ivy and Adrian to be electric. The internal conflicts were standout for me as was the romance.

After two months keeping his distance for some reason we'll learn during the book, Adrian is back in Ivy's life and since she made him believe in his goodness, he's the one who's trying to convince her they should be together no matter the influence of the past and their supposed destiny. But this time, she's the one who call into question their relationship because of his previous behavior. Jasmine and Costa are still with them for the journey, as well as Ivy's new and unusual pet, Brutus. And her mission to find influential objects, in our realm or an other continue.
Once again, I have the same trouble than with the first book. There's great ideas, it's action packed and well executed, but I don't connect with the protagonists (and Ivy's sister really get on my nerves). Maybe it's the constant push and pull between Ivy and Adrian that bothers me too. Having said that, I'll still be there for the last book because it's Jeaniene Frost and I still want to know how it's gonna end, so it show there's an interest on my part after all ;p

It breaks my heart to rate this book so low. I love Jeaniene Frost, I mean I LOVE her. I think she is a fabulous writer and I just think she is the sweetest lady... I mean I haven't ever met her but she is so sweet in her interviews and in her blogs.. lol.
Anyways, I kind of didn't like this book at all. I can not stand the heroine. Ivy is a moron. She just found out about this whole other world 6ish months ago and she thinks she knows everything. She yells and tells like the head angel guy that he is wrong and that she could do his job better. She was absolutely obnoxious in this book. I wanted to punch her 99% of this book.
The story line itself was good. They went after the 2nd holy artifact. But I honestly couldn't get past Ivy. Nothing else stood out except how much I disliked her.
I am absolutely going to read the next book. I need to know how it ends but this one just didn't do it for me.

I feel like Tavia Gilbert was in a race to read this one. The narration was way faster than it should've been. I checked my phone to make sure it wasn't set on a faster speed by mistake. I actually slowed it down to .75 speed and it still sounded like she was speed reading.
The story continues from the first book and this time it felt like a middle book. You know the book in a series that stretches things out to get you to the last book. I have to say I enjoyed the first book more, not sure if it was the pacing or the newness of the world.

I really like this one for upping the stakes of their quest. It was just as entertaining as the first one, while putting everyone through the ringer. I'm still not sold on the romance, though that could be because it was overly sweet for my taste. But even with that said, I like them as a couple. The secrets are pretty intense, and I can only guess at what's next. Except for 1 thing. That ending is what I've been waiting for the entire time. And boy, is Ivy going to be pissed!

Ivy is on her second hunt for a super powerful relic that will seal all the walls to the demonic realms. Demons and minions are fought, betrayals happen (not from Adrian, thank goodness), near death experiences, revelations upon revelations, soul tethering and smoking hot sex all ensue.
I liked this story but it didn’t keep my attention like the first one. I’m anxious to hear the next chapter however my library is not cooperating.

This was a bit of a tough one to get through. Jasmine is being an utter pain as a character. Ivy and Adrian have not really given me all too much reason to like them this time around either though they had their moments. The plot dragged despite there being a review on the cover that says it's fast-paced - ah... nope. Not really. Not for me anyway.
Unfortunately, this was more of a 2.5 star read for me, a bit of a disappointment after I quite enjoyed the first book in the trilogy. Maybe the final book can redeem the series a little for me.

I do enjoy Frost's stuff a lot. I like the premise of this series. I like the action. For me in this one, I am not enjoying the struggling love affair between the characters. It isn't Kat and Bones from The Night Huntress. It feels very juvenile to me in it's context and depth when I read it. The rest I liked a good deal. Less struggling love stuff and more action would make this a far better read in my opinion.

Oh, this book was just freaking fantastic! So much happened, so many revelations, some really tense times, both dangerous and romantic! And that ending, wow! So evil! Ivy and Adrian know what has to be done, and the price, but oh, man! Just evil, that ending!
