New, expanded edition. Moonchuckle Bay … Movies … Monsters … Magic! PR-rated paranormal romance from USA Today Bestselling Author Heather Horrocks.
HE’S THE FIRE CHIEF. SHE BREEDS FIRE-BREATHING DOGS. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG? When Poppy gets a call from her childhood best friend to come for a visit, she’s thrilled and anxious to see her again. What she doesn’t expect is the feelings she had for her friend’s brother flare up once more. Which is really bad considering the man is engaged and about to be married. Kea finds himself engaged and wonders what happened, but he’s promised. But when Poppy re-enters his life, he remembers how much he liked his sister’s friend — and she’s grown into a beautiful woman. As a newly engaged man, he certainly shouldn’t be feeling this way. Can fire-breathing dogs, meddlesome family, and arson lead to a happily ever after?

5-STAR REVIEWS OF THE ARTIST CRIES WOLF A Fun New Paranormal Series (Jessie C) I've already enjoyed Heather Horrocks' Chick Flick Clique series. I am loving her foray into the paranormal realm with Moonchuckle Bay. I like the idea of a place where paranormal can live in peace, and in the open, while tourists think it is all part of the town's movie productions. … I found myself wishing Moonchuckle Bay was a real town, just for all of the funny gimmicks that they have for the tourists. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books in this series. Content: clean (some kissing, mild violence, smelly trolls)
You must read!! And I must re-read! (Kindle Customer) I love Heather Horrocks, and this book is no exception, I like that you can see where its going without it being completely predictable. Such a great story line, I look forward to hearing more about these townsmonsters :) in Moonchuckle Bay.
REVIEW OF BAH, HUMBUG (Christmas Street Romantic Comedy Christmas Novella #1): “This isn't a book; it’s magic. What could be a sappy Christmas story turns into a wonderful, magical, bring-the-family-together Christmas story. I wasn't merely reading Lexi and Kyle's story, I was there with them, being part of their story. I came up for breath only when I was done with the book (I read it at one sitting).
I’m an author who had a somewhat unorthodox upbringing. I was raised in South America and the Middle East, and wrote my first stories as a teenager in Kuwait, where my sister and I proved it really is hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk. I wrote my first novel in three months on a typewriter when I was 21, I used every romance cliché possible (including amnesia — need I say more?), and never rewrote anything, which is why it’s so much fun to pull it out occasionally when I need a good laugh. I wrote sporadically until my youngest child (who is now 18) was two, when I decided it was time to either actually start writing, or to stop saying I was a writer. So I took a class and started doing the scary things that writing requires. Now I’ve written about twelve novels and several children’s books.
I love this charming, lighthearted series. It's so perfect for when I get too stressed out or I've just read something intense and scary. When I put down a Moonchuckle Bay book, I always feel happier and calmer than when I started it. :) Thanks Heather!
As a series in whole: I'm had a hard time getting past Ms. Horrocks's blatant rip off of another author's town concept. The similarities are much too close to be a coincidence. However; that point aside, the story was cute, fun and well done. My only other complaint with the series as a whole, mainly being that the same shops are described over and over even if they don't really play any part in the story. It got old after about the third book. I was left wanting her to only bring up a location if the character was going to go there. Not a shop by shop naming as they walked down the street, but they never went to 90% of the places mentioned. (these issues do not affect the rating I give the books).
With this story: I got to about 17% into the story and couldn't continue. The series has taken a dive in the last several books and the characters aren't being rounded out well. Being able to connect to the characters at all takes a lot of effort, and it seems that Ms. Horrocks is more interested in how many books can be released than the quality of the book. It's disappointing as there were some very good books in the series.
Poppy is a dog designer. One Blaze breaths fire. She is friends with a big Hawaiian family. She came to Moonchuckle Bay to visit. Kealoha is the fire chief. He is engaged to Lizzie but his family does not like or trust her. There is something suspicious about her. Poppy has a crush on Kea. When Lizzieis not around Kea stares at Poppy. There is also an arsonist afoot. Of course Poppy's dog Blaze is blamed for it. Interesting story.
Hero: Kae Heroine: Poppy Reading Enjoyment:4.5* I enjoyed reading this fiery story include characters we know and love. Love the characters of the dogs. The dogs added another element of humor and I found myself wondering what other funny dog combos there could be. Cute sweet story with a villain you loved to hate.
Another sweet, wonderful, chick flick of a book. I love the whole series of these books. Such a wonderful author. Absolutely love her books and her imagination. Love how she takes each character and somehow connect them into the other characters or bring a brand new character into the book and connect them with the original characters. Love it!!
I love your books !! You have a wonderful imagination. I enjoy reading your books. I can't wait to read the next one. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent with the world.
What can I say?...I just love this series!!! So lighthearted, cute, clean, and funny!!! Plus all the supernatural creatures to keep it interesting! Can't wait to read the next one!!!
I love all of the Moonchuckle Bay stories. I have read most of them and they are sweet clean romances with a little danger and mystery thrown in. I really loved this one and learning about some traditional Hawaii things. . .
I have read the first eight books of this series and have had a difficult time stopping when ever I have to stop too do something else 😓. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!! Thank you for this great entertainment!!!!
I really enjoyed this book. I will have to go back to book 2 and read the series. I bought the first book back in 2017. It was a fun book to read and loved the dogs.
