Mia is experiencing the normal life she’s dreamed about. A mother of three. “Did the last one have to be born in the snow?” Parent teacher conferences. “What do you mean Dieter is flunking English?” Trips to the library. “Why is this ghost throwing books at me?”
Acting Sheriff Tom Braverman’s life isn’t going much better, his mother has kicked him out of the house, and the teen he’s mentoring is being targeted by a psychopath.
“The Return” is about returns, whether they are souls, spirits, or feathers. Join Mia, Murphy and PEEPs as they navigate the perils that come when the past returns with a vengeance.
“The Return,” is the 21st book of the popular “Haunted Series.”
My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read. Once upon a time… I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads. It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.
It took me a bit to get into this story, it seemed to jump about, but once the action got going the magic happened. As in each book Mia has changes and challenges in her life as a superhuman, angel/birdperson, mother, and wife. As usual most of the men are in love with her, much to Ted's chagrin. I was glad to see some PEEP's action, and the new additions to the Martin motley crew are entertaining. I liked that Tom Braverman is featured more in this story. I'm still wishing for a Tom/Sabine connection. Murphy and Lazar present some development and understanding for Mia. It was great to get more story from Burt. The glossary needs a bit updating but not a big thing if you've read all the stories. Ready for more, especially featuring some PEEP's ghost hunts.
Another good book in the saga of Mia Cooper Martin and her entourage of husband, children, Peeps (co-workers), best friend who wishes he could be more (ghost), Angelic friends, Brotherhood of Wings friends, even a demon or devil frenemies!
Wasn't my favorite out of the 21 books in this series but I'm still pulled to start reading Book 22 immediately. I've never stayed with any series as long as I have this one as I grow bored to easily but I do love the paranormal and this Author's imagination is pretty impressive. I also like not having to plod thru graphic sex scenes which always feels more like just a gratuitous way to fill a book rather than actually adding anything to the story. If you have ever read one graphic sex scene then you have basically read them all. You won't find these in this series (at least not so far!)
The Return is without a doubt my favorite book so far. I know I always say that but, when a book has me in tears five minutes in, it's a special book. I cried off and on throughout the entire book. I also laughed out loud, held my breath, cursed, and did all I could to try to make this edition\addition last as long as possible. I hated to put it down but hated more the thought of coming to the last page. Thank you Alexie for quality entertainment, for giving us something to look forward to and a big eclectic, dysfunctional, crazy....loving family to belong to in our hearts and dreams. You make our imaginations and hearts take FLIGHT. Literally.
As many times as she has to, in order to survive! Every time there is a crisis in Mia's life part of surviving involves a major change to her body. Angel armor, birdman wings, superhuman genes, angel wings, what will it be this time? If you want to know you will have to read this, the 21st book in the exciting, best selling Haunted Series. As always the writing is spectacular, the characters are well developed and by now we luv them like family, warts and all. The storyline unfolds further in this installment, it gets even more interesting. Highly recommended.
I hope so, he has waited so long and I foresee Ted's demise. I have so enjoyed this series. Even with all the tech involvement, it is easy to follow. I do love supernatural books and this one gives the afterlife a sound footing. Having lost my husband last year, I need to believe he is still watching out for me and waiting.
This is one book series where I can't wait for the next one to come out. In this book ,life becomes even more complicated for Mia (I didn't think it would be possible),we revisit old enemies and we are left with a thousand possibilities for the future - I can't wait.
I love the whole series!! They revisit Sentinel Woods and make it a much nicer and safer place . There was a lot of action. Just waiting for the next one! If you haven't read this series, you should! Start with the first one.
Love all of the PEEPS series but this one was the best so far. Outrageous but with just enough comedy and a strange touch of romantic attachment between humans and spirits. Can't wait to start the next one.
The poetry was a bit much and frankly not all that good but the stories were entertaining enough. Nice to see the return of a few old friends? Only time will tell. As usual I just skimmed through the annoying stupidity that is Mia's story. As well as the author's need to man bash.
I love all 21 of Alexie's stories, and Cid's adventures alone. I also love her Cin-Fin series. A tv series could be made of PEEPS to rival Supernatural!
When I think these books couldn't possibly get even better, and wonder how in the world can she keep the tension from exploding and ending the series - Alexie surpasses herself.
