John Francis Moore is comic book writer known for stints as writer on such Marvel comics series as X-Force, X-Factor, Doom 2099 and X-Men 2099. He also wrote Elseworld's Finest and co-wrote Batman/Houdini: The Devil's Workshop, with Howard Chaykin, for DC's Elseworlds series, and was the writer for Howard Chaykin's American Flagg! series. He wrote some episodes of The Flash and Freakazoid television series.

I was really excited to get my hands on this issue of Dick Tracy. Sadly I bought it online so I could not see the inside art. I found it very sloppy and distracting. The only drawings that looked like someone had tried were the close ups of the character's faces. Aside from that the story was ok but it did not move fast enough and it took forever to even see Dick Tracy at all. This is book one of three but I doubt I will bother to buy the other three.

A manera de pretexto por el hype de la pelicula de DICK TRACY de los 90s. De tono muy Noir y Hard boiled, bastante alejado del tono de la citada pelicula Disney, aunque con todo el look. Muy del gusto adulto de este clasico personaje.

I actually enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting to. I imagined this to just be a fluff hype piece to advertise Disney's upcoming Dick Tracy movie, but it turned out to be a densely plotted dark noir piece set in a city rife with mobsters and crooked cops. Kyle Baker's art is a bit polarizing at first, but by the end I had come to appreciate his cartoony style and exagerated figures as being the perfect tools to offset the dark tone of the story as well as help distinguish between the multitudes of characters introduced here. This is as close as Dick Tracy has ever come to the 80's grim'n'gritty craze pioneered by Watchmen and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

Bin eigentlich kein Noir-Fan aber die quietschbunte Dick Tracy Version von Kyle Parker gefällt mir gut. "Big City Blues" ist der erste Band der "True Hearts and Tommy Guns" Trilogie, von denen die ersten beiden Teile Prequels zum 1990er Film mit Warren Beatty sind und der dritte Teil eine Comic Version des Films.
