Faded Letters

Rate this book
After a troubling childhood, Lieutenant James Walker has finally found a place he wants to be in life-- a family with his SEAL brothers, a loving dog, and a pen pal named Kaylee, but when they start to reveal more of their lives to each other, James finds himself falling for the mysterious woman behind the letters and finding himself in difficult situations overseas.

James Walker never had the perfect life, shifting from foster parent to foster parent. When he finally escaped the system, he dedicated his life to the United States Navy and became a SEAL.

Kaylee Tatum is a simple photojournalist trying to figure out what she truly wants in life: whether that be working at the small newspaper or moving in with her seemingly perfect boyfriend.

For months, James and Kaylee have been writing letters to each other, keeping up-to-date on what is happening in their lives. When Kaylee's boyfriend does the unthinkable and James goes through a horrific event, their letters are the only thing keeping them together. And their letters do more than build a friendship.

It is a delightful read. The description may not give the book justice because it is so much more than just a letter writing book or even a romance. This book deals with all kinds of brilliant issues and handles them with care, but also allows the reader to feel for the characters.

I definitely have my favorite characters, and I would read this book again and again. It IS sad though and it's something people need to know going in. It really pulls at the heartstrings. Don't read this book without a comforting blanket or some hot chocolate.
