When her new kitten, Simon, suddenly disappears, 64-year-old amateur sleuth Beatrice Young chalks it up to bad luck. But when Petunia, her fluffy Himalayan, vanishes, Bee realizes something more sinister might be going on. The list of people who'd like to take revenge on her is long ... after all, she's put many the local criminal behind bars.
It's time for the Cozy Cat Cafe owner to team up once again with new boyfriend Matthew and her old friend the sheriff to hunt down the catnapper before her other cats, Lucky and Hamish, are put in harm's way...
This is the eleventh book in the Beatrice Young cozy cat mystery series set in the small town of Ashbrook, New Hampshire. The books can be read out of order but are extra delightful when enjoyed in sequence. This novella is a clean mystery with no graphic violence, sex, or swearing.
A good read but mostly about the human sleuthing element. I missed the cats. A camping break should have been relaxing but all it does is get the kitten, Simon, catnapped. Then as another goes missing and finally a third, Bee is at her wits end. Thankfully the rest of their close circle of friends come up with a plan to rescue the cats using Hamish as bait. Will the plan succeed? Is human intervention necessary or is Hamish and the others capable of rescuing themselves? Plus will Bee and Matthew actually move in together?
Bee and Matthew put their heads together to try and find Simon.
Where is Simon? Did he get lost in the woods or did a critter carry him away? Now Petunia is missing too? What in the world is going on? It's up to Matthew and Bee to gather information and form a plan to find the kitties and save them from doom. Hamish is destined to be the lead on this investigation. This is a must read.
I've read all the Beatrice Young books thus far and am enjoying the series. In this one, a culprit from the past comes back to take revenge on Beatrice by kidnapping her cats. The whole town comes together to help her get them back. I like this series because each book is a quick read, Beatrice is drama queen compared to Matt's composure, the other characters are fun and believable, and story lines are eventful. Looking forward to #12.
Another visit with Beatrice Young and the 4 cats! Simon, Petunia and Lucky are suddenly missing...Hammish, Sheriff Roy, Beatrice and Matthew hatch a plan for their return -which Hammish executes to the full extent of the law. All of the cats returned home, unharmed. I love the characters, the mystery (that isn't always a murder) and that these are clean Cozy Mysteries.
Excellent story of working together to solve a crime. I mean the cats because the main characters, Beatrice, Matthew and Jacob do it all the time. The cats, Hamish, Lucky, Petunia and Simon, are the real characters for this story. The clues are there for the humans if they only paid attention! Read and enjoy!
This was so intense I was bitting my nails until the end. I knew she would get her fur babies back, but the suspense was killing me. Hamish saved the day! I absolutely love these cats even if they are characters in a mystery. They seem so real that I wanted to beat the mess out of the catnappers. Fantastic series!!
I loved this book. I almost cried with her when the kitten disappeared. I could imagine how I would feel if it happened to me. I love this whole series.
Beatrice's three crime fighting cats have become four recently. However, Simon was suddenly missing! Then Petunia, then Lucky! The whole town pitches in to help save Bee's cats. Great kitty cozy mystery!
