The Faelti

Rate this book
NEVER WISH UPON A STAR. IT MIGHT GET YOU CURSED.

One wish on the stars.
A group of unusual suitors.
A quest to end a curse.

The three kingdoms are in need of help. War is brewing, and the faelti are ready to take everything.

Abigail Crumble was only seeking to right the wrongs of her wish when she set out to find Levana, Watcher of the Night Sky. The last thing she expected was to stumble into the path of the faelti, fae-like creatures with a thirst for power and the ability to manipulate fire.

Separated from her friends and believing them dead, trapped in the faelti camp and held hostage by the evil Kai Sisu, Abigail is no closer to reaching Levana's dwelling and breaking the curse than she was the day she left her hometown.

As the threat to the three kingdoms grows, and past secrets begin to unravel, Abigail makes discoveries that force her deeper into a fight she’s not ready for.

Can Abigail take on the role she was born to have?

Can she put aside her own dreams for the lives of others?

Only the stars will tell…

Action-packed and full of intrigue, The Faelti continues the tale of one girl's quest to rid herself of a curse turning into a journey to save a kingdom.

Good

I am really enjoying this series, and this book was a good addition. The characters are developed well. Looking forward to the next book.

The mythology is beautiful

I enjoyed this sequel far more than the first book. We finally get into the deeper part of the plot and get to the meeting with Levana. We also get back stories for Abigails men which I loved. Particularly Eris and Etva who are my favourites. I also loved the newly introduced character of Katherine, my heart goes out for her 💙. I am a little Clay starved though so I hope we see more of him in Aaravale.

On my second read through I’ve not enjoyed it as much and so I’ve brought the rating down to 3 stars. I think too much of the action has been glossed over in the narrative. 2 of the kingdoms fall seemingly overnight and it just feels too sudden. even if we knew it was coming. What happens on the journey is far more detailed than what happens at the destination and there’s a lot of potential here for that to be explored. There’s also a lot of inconsistencies in the writing. The men are all reacting differently to Abigail which is understandable, but I’m not sure why the princes are becoming ridiculous in their love while the others still seem relatively normal? The author also uses a characters lack of knowledge to not expand on the world. Since this has happened a few times it makes the world seem 2 dimensional.

Despite this the cliffhanger and my concerns this still had me diving straight into the next book (the reason I did a re-read) and I would actually love to see a book exploring the mythology she uses in this series because I find myself wanting to know it all!

This is a delightfully fresh perspective on the Fae trope that I’ve enjoyed reading.

I had the pleasure of reading the first book in the Aronia series. I remember enjoying the book very much and even looking forward to this Book II, so I was delightfully inclined to sit down for a good read and post a review on the second installment. I had to go back and take another look at the first book before moving on since it’s been nearly two years since I’ve heard anything on this story.

That being said, I did enjoy this second book as much—if not more—than I enjoyed the first book. Abigail Crumble returns along with her curse and her desire to break it. She doesn’t get much closer to achieving her goal as she is locked in a prison and separated from her friends, but this second book gives us a good look at new characters, further character development, and a deeper dive into what seems like a genuine romance.

In my review of the first book in this series, I complained that it was too wordy and had a lot of unnecessary description. I didn’t see that here which was definitely a plus. While I felt the first chapter dragged a little, I was engrossed in Pudsey’s beautiful world and in the lives of its inhabitants as I read. I am very glad to have given this series a chance. The plot itself is one I feel I have seen before, but I mean that in a positive way. The first book felt like a fairy tale YA romance gone wrong while the second book gets a little darker, a little deeper, a little stronger. The writing is better, the characters are a bit more mature, and I feel like the overall plot has thickened. Things are getting serious. I can only imagine what Pudsey will bring us in Book III.

I recommend this to readers of all ages. Those who enjoy fantasy, romance, and even dark fiction will want to give this a try.

Another great story from this author in my opinion. She picked up the story smoothly, my attention was immediately caught back in, & she ended it on another great note. The changes in some of the characters were wonderful to see and the introduction of new characters also seemed to be well laid out. I still don’t get why Levana wanted to wait to talk with Abigail, but Levana’s story itself was very interesting.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

End of part two? End of part two?!! Noooooo! This author is so cruel with her cliffhangers.

The Faleti was a great sequel! The story had turned a bit dark towards the end of book one, and in book two, a whole lot darker. There’s not as much humor to be found in book two (rightfully so) because of the dire circumstances Abigail and her crew find themselves in. This story has progressed well beyond a wish gone awry.

In The Faelti, we’re treated to multiple POVs. I really liked this switch-up, because it helped develop our supporting male characters more. I loved learning about where Abigail’s guys were, and what they were doing, right before the curse overtook them.

I finished this book just as quickly as I did book one. The pacing was consistently fast (in a good way) and the story kept me enraptured the entire time. Also – the twists – OMG – so good!!

I’m pumped for book three!

I couldn’t put book 2 down, & even though book 1 & 2 have cliff-hanger endings, I will buy book 3 to find out what happens. The part that kills me & that I was so mad about, that book 3 isn't out yet!

The plot is unique, a play on be careful what you wish for. The heroine, Abigail is unique, I was intrigued by her not being so typical of heroines. I think the supporting characters all add a unique flair to the story, & the possible love interest (Clay) is great! This had so many twists & turns I didn’t see coming, just like in book 1. The world building grows with the story, learning along with Abigail about what’s going on. Definitely worth reading.

The second book in the series was just as engaging as the first, maybe even a bit more.
It is action-packed and full of intrigue, as well as a little romance. I loved the glimpses into fae life and the world Pudsey created. Really looking forward to the final installment of this series!

The author appears to be trying to create a young adult series based around a quest and the creation of friendships. While she is succeeding, the way in which she is succeeding bothers me. There is a lot of hysteria and running around and general chaos - the story careens from one mess to another battle to another hysterical confrontation. The characters, except for Abigail and Clay, seem more than a little shallow and could use some beefing up. The storyline is thin but binds the quest together. The premises start out as reasonable and veer into implausible. The book(s) in general will need some work to be of the same quality as Lewis' Narnia or Rowlings' Harry Potter or Megan Whalen Turner's Queen's Thief series.

Rachel Pudsey has done it again with this second book of The Aronia Series. Leaving off at an incredible end, The Faelti, will grip you. As once again I stupidly was smiling throughout the entire book. And now, wishing upon the stars for the third book in this series.

Once again we are continuing our journey with Abigail to reach Levana's Dwelling. Will she make it there? Will she be captured yet again? Will her journey ever end? Only the stars can tell...

Eagerly waiting for the third book in this series...

Can we take a moment and look at how stunning this cover is!

😍😍😍

I think it’s one of the most beautiful covers I seen in a long time, it will definitely have the reader reaching for it in any shop or online.

Rachel Pudsey is a new author to me, what had me saying yes to the review was obviously the cover, but the blurb also grabbed me. Now in hind sight I should have read the first book (I’ll be correcting that asap) I struggled a couple of times when things that happened in the first book were brought up but I felt that it didn’t put me off following this beautiful story. Rachel shows she has a passion for this genre, her character and scene discretion is second to none!

This book is action packed and had me enthralled from start to finish, I enjoyed the darkness to the story and I’m most definitely craving more  waiting for book 3 will give me time to read the first book and get myself fully imursed in the series.

This continues to be a really well written series. The little bits of comedy from the first book have been cast aside as the plot really gets down to business. No punches are pulled as we see Abigail continue her journey. As we saw at the end of the first book, no one is safe. I find myself liking the characters even more as the series progresses. Their personalities are really well defined and stay true throughout the different scenarios they find themselves in. The world building is also excellent. No editing or grammar errors were to be found. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that! This is a really well written series. I'll now be plunging directly into book 3.

This book gives you the point of view from a few of the other characters in the beginning. As much as it was needed and gave more depth to them, I couldn't help but want to read on quickly to get to the good stuff! Once again though, I was sucked into the story and enjoyed everything that unfolded. I don't like to spoil stories in reviews and I'm sure if you've read book one, you'll want to read this too - you won't be disappointed!
I only had one niggle when reading this and that was the fact I didn't get enough of a Clay fix! MORE CLAY next time, please!!

Abi and the 7 men

Abigail draws closer to Clay but still has the other men to follow along. She meets her real parents and has to deal with a lot of change in a short amount of time. She can't slow down or Kai will win. What is he up to? Why doesn't he kill her? What will Abi do and will she win?

I loved this follow up to the first in the series and it definitely lived up to the hype from the first book. I enjoyed the fact that the main character is not your typical heroine. It definitely added some flavour to the storyline. I adored reading this.

Good Adventure

This book is better yhen the first. The characters developed more but some needed more, the world building is good and it has action, adventure, magic, battles, tragedy and romance.
A good read.

Not as good as the first.

It just didn't have the same magic as the first book. It dragged in spots and lacked the previous humor and tension. Still, it was a decent read.

For my clean readers: violence and mild language.

The first book in this series was good, but it left me on the cusp of whether to read the second book. I am so glad that I did read the second book, because the tale only got better and I definitely already have the third book ready to go. This was a good book.
