Still reeling from her former partner Lucy’s death and from her partner Bill’s PTSD, FBI Special Agent Riley Paige does her best to try to keep herself stable and to patch together her family life. She has to decide what to about April’s boyfriend, recovering from his abusive father, and about Blaine, who is ready for their relationship to move ahead.
But before she can work it out, Riley is summoned for a new case. In an idyllic suburban town in the Midwest, teenage girls are going missing—and a body has already turned up. The police are stumped, and Riley is called in to catch the killer before another girl goes missing.
Making things worse is that Riley is assigned a partner she does not want—her nemesis, Special agent Roston—who had been interrogating her in Shane’s case.
Even worse: Shane is on the loose, he wants revenge—and he has Riley’s family in his sights.
A dark psychological thriller with heart-pounding suspense, ONCE LOST is book #10 in a riveting new series—with a beloved new character—that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

3...A minor step backwards for me...Yes, there is a new case in this book, very interesting really, BUT this novel is basically the introduction of a new team member, and Bill's struggle with PTSD...And I am having mixed emotions about Hatcher's storyline...back at square one? Really? All that for...nothing, really! I will say I am intrigued by the new agent...what's her story...
All the books in this series are so good. This author has quite a few mystery/thriller books. I can't wait to read them all. I've read the Kate Wise series and I'm almost caught up in the Jesse Hunt series. I'm close to catching up in the Riley Paige series too.
I love the main character Riley Paige. She's with the FBI and has been for a long time. She and her long time partner Bill have been together so long they have this amazing partnership. Bill was going through some PTSD and Riley is helping him through so much. Bill is divorced with 2 boys. Riley is also divorced with a teenaged daughter. A few books back she worked a case that involved a 13 year old girl with a terrible father so she decided to sell herself to truckers at truck ⁵. Riley found her and with a lot of back story Riley saved Jilly's life. She adopted Jilly and gave her a real family. One that loves and cares for her.
Riley is an amazing agent and she has this knack of getting inside the killers mind. Not literally but she tries to put herself in their heads. She's a really good profiler.
How could you be disappointed with this last book! It has everything. A new character, an old friend in trouble, a new serial killer to find, a small town to enter, her children to be concerned about, Shane Thatcher and a friend to count on. It moves fast and makes you hoping Book 11 comes soon. A very, very exciting read.
this may be my favorite one in the Riley paige series thus far...the case was awesome and took me awhile to figure out. as far as Hatcher I love how that turned out and I love jenn I'm curious as to her secrets she keeps hinting too....cant wait for the next.
Slightly different to the others as the case seemed to be the secondary part to the story. It focused much more on the long standing characters and their relationships with each other & past issues. The case developed and was wrapped up quite quickly towards the end of the book. Still a good read, easy to whizz through. You know what you are getting if you have read the others in the series.
The Audiobook Narrator was changed. Hard to hear her voice even on high volume and pronounces BAU as “bau”. Unable to get through this book (I have enjoyed the series) because the new narrator is unbearable.
Its a good book, with a good plot. This was my first book of Blake maybe I need to start on the 1st book to understand better the story of Riley. It's easy to read
The translation of this ebook to portuguese have a lot of errors lol
There was a lot to like about this book, especially the strong female characters. It just wasn't a series I wish to pursue but that's because of my own peculiarities, preferring more cozy type books. Great for anyone who likes the intelligent hunt of a dangerous killer.
Amazing as always! I honestly thought this was gunna be the last one, so im super happy to have pre ordered book 11!! Why do i think its not over with hatcher.... cant wait to find out
I still like the series but the author needs to focus more on proofreading than getting the next book out in a hurry. There were a few instances of people being called the wrong name.
I'm so glad I started reading this series again. I couldn't figure out who was committing the murders??? Thank goodness it wasn't the same old repeating the past over and over. And Jenn the new agent, I'm thinking she's going to bring some interesting new spice to the series. She was a nice fill in till Bill can get it together. And I know Hatcher isn't done with Riley just yet. Over all a good read 👍
When Riley Paige is summoned to a small idyllic suburban, seemingly perfect town, to investigate the death of a teenage girl, and a potential disappearance of another; she doesn’t believe it’s a case befitting the FBI. Her former partner, Lucy Vargus’s, death is still heavy on her mind and her other partner, Bill, is suffering from PTSD. So when she’s put in the case with Agent Roston, seemingly her nemesis, Riley is anything but pleased.
On the personal front, she has two teenage daughters, one of whose boyfriends is suffering from abuse at the hands of his father; a steady relationship with Blaine who wants to take things forward; and terrifyingly Shane Hatcher on the loose, who seeks revenge from Riley’s family.
A seemingly one-off case, the FBI face flak from the local authorities and they are about to call it off, when more bodies start appearing. It seems to be a serial killer after all. The question is who and why? What is the motive? In a perfect town, is everything as perfect as it seems to be?
Will Riley be able to solve the case in time for her to be beside Bill, when he needs her at his darkest time, and protect her family from Shane Hatcher?
Whoa...... Riley's nemesis has been neutralized? Is it really true? You have to read this to find out. Riley's partner, Bill, is on leave after a traumatic shooting in Book 9, and now Riley has been paired with a bright agent, but an agent Riley is not entirely sure she can trust. I am not sure I trust her either! Their case involves teenage girls going missing in a small Midwest, perfect town. The most perfect citizens might just be the perfect suspects--but which ones? Lots of twists and turns here, and this book will keep you up late into the night.
I love all the Riley Paige novels, but this one may be in the top two or three!! Pierce touched on several relevant issues in our society today...serials, work environment changes, family danger, PTSD...I could go on and on! He always seems to deliver an outstanding storyline, plot and theme that I have rarely NOT finished a book in one sitting! Thank you for making my day!
God, why does the author have to portray Riley as entirely dumb? Don't take me wrong, I am a fan of the series, and am on a binge read of the series (despite a lot of gaping errors). But how many times is Riley going to be shown dumb enough to be entering the suspect's house without back-up, without telling anyone either! Please, please, she's 40. why cant she be shown at least a little bit sensible in such matters.
This one felt a little bit tamer than previous reads. Riley was really distracted by Shane Hatcher's threats and getting over the death of her young partner. She does get thrown back into a case with a new partner with some bad blood between them. Overall they get through that and become close enough for Riley to race back home when Bill needed her. I really liked the way her fued ends with Shane thr Chain, but now Im anxious to see what is yet to come!
I love listening to a book while cycling. I started this book and found the female FBI agent had a British accent which was a bit off putting but I made it work. Now the voice is less British sounding but she has a weird smacking sound that she makes at the end of some sentences. Drives me wild. As far as the storyline goes, Agent Paige needs regular therapy and reminder that she's one person and shouldn't carry the world on her shoulders. What's up with Jen?
probably my least favorite book. Riley is sent with a new partner to investigate a missing girl. the local cops seem to think this is not something or the FBI to be investigating because it's only one girl. but then more girls start to show up. Riley's Criminal friend that escaped from jail now has a site on her family. he goes after her family and Riley's boyfriend which is now the neighbor guy shoots him.
I absolutely loved this book. There was more character growth from Riley, along with new intriguing characters. You also get to see the aftermath of the last book, as well as some of the aftermath of the last several books.
I cannot wait to read the next one in the series! Blake Pierce is quickly becoming my favorite author.
At first I felt like the series was starting to get a little slow and redundant but this book really picked up the pace of the series! I loved every minute of the action. The only problem I had were several spelling mistakes and in one sentence a wrong name was used. Other than that great to the end!
These books are incredibly addictive and as you can see from my reading list, I am reading them at the rate of knots. I have been devouring this series and every other series this author has written. What I will note, is that the books seem to be getting shorter at the same price point and the editing leaves a lot to be desired. However, the stories just bring me back for more and more and more.
Riley is feeling form the death of a promising agent she was mentoring and Bill is off on leave with PTSD. Unusual case of disappearing girls and the team is joined by agent Roston who was trying to catch 'Shane the Chain' and hot way to close to Riley's relationship with the kilker. Great plot twist when it came to the big reveal on who was the killer.
