Being You, Changing the Worldby Dr. Dain HeerThis is a very different book. It is written for the dreamers of this world the people who KNOW that something different is possible but who have never had the tools before.... This is a Handbook for Generating Infinite Possibilities and Dynamic Change. For you. And the world. Ten years ago, Dr. Dain Heer started as a chiropractor in California, USA. Seemingly successful and happy, Dain Heer was on the verge of suicide when he came across Access Consciousness. With this modality, based on question and choice, Dr. Heer 's life began to expand and grow with more ease and speed than even he could have imagined possible. This book is his way of paying it forward.'Being You, Changing the World', provides you with a set of PRACTICAL tools and processes which can change everything and give you YOU, as you truly be. It provides you with a totally different perspective of BEING. What if being you isn t about doing something differently or being better? What if it is about BEING the energy you be, in totality? And what if that can change EVERYTHING? Your life, your relationships, your money situation . . . And the world Access Consciousness is a system for opening the doors to anything that is possible in this world. By giving you access to your knowing. By dynamically increasing you awareness. By including everything and judging nothing.Today, Dr. Dain Heer travels all over the world inviting and inspiring people to more consciousness from total allowance, caring, humor and a phenomenal knowing. His unique points of view on of embodiment, earth, sexualness and healing transcend most things currently being taught. 'Being You, Changing the World' is his eighth book. From the back cover: 'I am not a guru. I have no answers for you. Just questions. Only you know what is true for you. What I am inviting you to, is exploring WITH me. My own path to consciousness is on going, as is yours. I use these tools every day and I keep discovering what else is possible, every day. If you re willing, this book can guide you to Being You. And Changing the World. Is now the time?' You can download an audio of the first chapter, read by Dain Heer, at: www.beingyoubook.com.
Dr. Dain Heer is an internationally renowned author of nine books on the topics of embodiment, healing, money and relationships. His latest book, ‘Being You, Changing the World’ was published in June 2011 and has been translated into Swedish, German, Spanish, Italian and Estonian. He is a facilitator of consciousness and change and speaks all over the world.
For over 14 years now, Dain has been inviting people to embrace their true greatness—people from every culture, country, age and social strata of society. Originally trained as a chiropractor, he has a completely different approach to healing by facilitating people to tap into and recognise their own abilities and knowing.
Dain is was born and raised in California, USA. He hosts a regular radio show entitled Conversations in Consciousness on Voice of America and has been a guest on hundreds of nationally syndicated radio shows. He also has appeared on several TV shows including ‘Fox News’, ‘Good Morning’ Shows in New Zealand, Australia and Canada and on Gaiam TV.
Dain Heer is one of the main figures in Access Consciousness, and this “weird” book (to use a term Dain often applies to himself and others like him) presents the basic precepts of Access.
I have previously heard Dain Heer on shows on the net, so Access and Dains’s way of being are not new to me. Even so, I did not always find this book easy to comprehend, Though I absolutely agree with everything I did “get”.
As indicated by the book’s title, Dain’s basic concept seems to be, if you dared to really be you, this would change the world. And he is definitely doing his bit.
We are told that this is not a book of answers, but of questions. We are introduced to several basic questions we can start asking the Universe:
1) How does it get any better than this? (to be asked both when something good, and something bad, happens)
2) What’s right about this I’m not getting? (I understand that by “getting” he here means “understanding”)
3) What would it take to change this?
4) What else is possible?
5) What would it take for this to turn out better than I could have imagined?
6) Who am I today and what grand and glorious adventures am I going to have?
Dain contends that when we start asking these questions, great things will start to happen.
One of the main features of Access is the clearing statement, which is formulated a bit strangely, but when you’re working with the problem or matter to be cleared, it is, again, contended, that clearing does in fact occur. My life hasn’t changed because of Access, but I have several times felt a bit “lighter” during a clearing.
The clearing statement is:
“Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, POD and POC, All Nine, Shorts, Boys and Beyond”.
Another of Dain’s contentions is that something that is true for you always makes you feel lighter, while a lie always makes you feel heavier.
So you can always check whether to believe what people say, and whether you should do this or that. I must confess I can’t always feel whether something makes me feel lighter or heavier, but apparently practice makes perfect. And the words in this book do make me feel lighter.
Dain wants to change the world, and he divides us who live in it into two categories – humans and humanoids. Humans constitute the majority – those who’re satisfied with things the way they are, while humanoids are those like Dain who want a big change in the world. Humanoids are the ones this book was written for – those who are willing to “step into being the difference that you are – the non-judgment, the caring, the joy, the peace, the connection and the awareness of a different possibility”.
We need to stop being judgmental and to claim our own potency. We need to let go of the idea that we are “wrong”. Throughout our life we have taken on ourselves beliefs that we are wrong, but these beliefs actually belong to others.
What we need to do is at times to ask the question “Who does this belong to?”. If we feel lighter, then whatever it is we’re thinking of isn’t ours and should be “returned to sender” (whoever “sender” is). The contention is that 98% of all our feelings and thoughts don’t belong to us, and should be returned to sender. “You, being you, are light. You trying to be someone else are heavy.”
This book is a different sort of book. I would conjecture that Dain has a strong Uranus in his horoscope. Even the set-up of this book is different and strange. When you think you’ve got to the end of the chapter, you haven’t – there are a couple of pages more. Dain even uses language differently – he keeps talking, not about “who you are”, but “who you be”.
I find the book refreshing, and am planning on taking at least the first Access course. I recommend that you read the book, if you think you also are a humanoid , and want to “be you, and change the world” (and you must be, if you’re reading this review).
At first I thought the book offered some good insights into how our thinking affects our lives. I was a little put off by some other things, so I looked into the author and it seems he and a partner are running a Scientology-like scheme.
I received this book in the mail yesterday and devoured it one sitting. It is written in a large font with plenty of whitespace, so it was pretty easy to do that. Dr. Dain's writing is like a huge drink of cool water on a hot, dry day. He uses humor and interjects a lot of lighthearted fun into what is ultimately life-changing work. This book is for people who are new to Access Consciousness as well as more experienced facilitators. It is full of clearing statements that can be used immediately to take the negative charge away from the thoughts and memories that get in the way of your being the wise and infinite being that you truly be. Dr. Dain gives you the tools to "destroy and uncreate" that place in time when you made your obstacles, barriers, and judgements real enough to hinder your progress. He gives you what you need to get out of your own way and realize your infinite potential, and he does it tenderness, sweetness and gentleness. I cannot recommend this book hard enough. It can and will create miracles in your life! I will keep it where I can just crack it open and use it daily.
BRILLIANT BOOK and I love the way Dr Dain speaks- as if we are having a conversation in my living room. The information created enormous relief for me.... I read this book as I was struggling to find me in a world of people I felt I couldn't relate to. I was convinced it was me that was the problem. Dr Dain somehow magically talked about every area of my life that I thought was so messed up- and I used the tools he suggests throughout-and THEY ACTUALLY WORK!!!! I was on a journey to being happy again. When I finished the last page I immediately turned to the front page and read it through all over- I got more out of it second time around.
This is a "weird" book and definitely not for everyone. I won't lie, that even though I LOVED this book, there were a few chapters that were just a little too far out there for me, and a bit strange...and perhaps even awkward. ha ha. But overall, fascinating ideas. The idea that I liked the most was the suggestion to look at everything as "AN INTERESTING IDEA." So often in my life, I get overwhelmed by the opinions of others. And I get completely stuck in my own judgement of making sure I am right and someone else is wrong. Right and Wrong....Judging all day long...it is exhausting! As I have practiced looking at everything in this way, I have been amazed at just how many judgements about ideas I actually have. For the last few weeks when I have got myself worked up about someone's opinion I have chanted "that's an interesting idea" over and over and over again until something shifts and I am no longer charged up about it. It is amazing how much better life is when you don't have to change someone else's opinion, when you no longer have to prove to other's that you are right, when you can just live your own life, knowing the things that you know, and following your own heart...all the while letting other's live side by side with you with their own interesting ideas! It has also been amazing to chant "that's an interesting idea" to my own thoughts inside my own head. Just because I think it, doesn't make it true...it is just an interesting idea floating around in my head. LOVED LOVED LOVED this book...but it is weird. :)
Having seen the words cognitions appear, a doctor passionate about quantum physics, I immediately bought it knowing that it remained personal development. I do not in any way agree with the previous opinions. It is a book in which the author addresses us throughout the book in the form of statements of principle and then asks us a sum of questions to encourage us to get out of our prejudices, traumas, cognitive and societal biases. The problem is that to say that having suffered a trauma is a choice, that September 11 can be seen as an opportunity to see a miracle given the small number of deaths seems to me very displaced or unacceptable. Many times, he invites us to perceive him as a madman and to throw away his book... but my curiosity led me to the end of this book (a pretty conclusion all the same) but surfing on all the concepts of personal development without any pragmatic answer except to affirm to believe him as a leader, international lecturer:( This book is nothing more than an invitation to join his movement... dangerous in my humble opinion. A book written by one more guru even if I believe in the laws of quantum physics and energy flows.
I need to read this book again and again! I've already been practicing some of his techniques like asking "What else is possible?" when I feel stuck and it keeps me from making conclusions that will close my mind and heart. Very deep stuff!!!!!!!!!
I keep having to buy new copies as they disappear to friends...such a great read! And you can get the first chapter for free read by Dain on his website beingyoubook.com Simple yet profound tools for everyone from teenagers on.
I actually have both the audio and the paper version of this book and I love them both. I played the CD's in my car driving to and from work for a few months straight and felt like I discovered new things that I have never heard before every time! Dain puts a perspective on things that I always had a sense of and does it in a way that created changes in my life on a fundamental level. I still read and follow everything he does and try to attend his face-to-face classes as often as possible. A truly life changing book by a phenomenal author!!
I love all the questions the author poses. I listened to him read the book on audio, which was nice. When the author reads his own book, it comes more to life for me. I wrote a few of his good questions on notecards to ask myself on occasion. I also bought two paperback copies as gifts for my daughters. I will re-read or listen to this book in the future. I need to "chew on it" for a bit first though.
I had to put this book down because it is just so incredibly STRANGE. I guess I must be a human, not an almighty humanoid... because I think this is all a big scam to get you to buy thousands of dollars worth of Access Consciousness classes.
Also, Gary Douglas - the founder of Access Consciousness - has reportedly said that “children are incredibly sexy.”
Is this just Scientology for pedophiles?
I guess I’ll never know, because I certainly won’t keep reading.
I'm still not really sure what I thought of this book and I finished it months ago. I think there is some great material here, but it all just seems a bit like an advertisement for access consciousness. I think I'll move on... Read at your own risk.
I had difficulty reviewing this book fairly. For myself, this book served a great purpose, so I am giving it 4 stars. I have been avidly reading many spiritual healing books, especially Tibetan Buddhist books and thus was very familiar with some of the concepts covered in this book, but in a more mundane way; in digestible bite-size pieces. I really enjoyed listening to the audio-book read by the author because I found him and his style humorous.
What bothers me is this: I have often seen that very appealing books like this can take advantage of peoples' vulnerabilities. I have seen how destitute people get hooked to this sort of mind-bending ideas hoping for miracles in their lives and spending their last penny and keep going further and further. So, having seen this in the past, I was a bit concerned. If the author and his partner are really authentic, they should consider spreading this wisdom without making it a lucrative business. I do understand they cannot give everything free, but should consider creating a more authentic image. Or do they laugh all the way to bank after their seminars and workshops?
This book annoyed the hell out of me, but it also offered some good insights. Some people seem te fall over the fact that this book would be an add for spending money on Access Consciousness courses. I do not see the problem. If you think this would help you based on what is written in the book, it will probably do. For me it is a little bit too 'floaty floaty' as we say it in Holland, but I do believe that it would be good for me not to dismiss the concepts described in this book.
I gave this book 45 minutes and still had no concrete idea what this guy was saying. The book seems to be an advertisement for Access Consciousness, a program whereby you have your "bars" adjusted (I think this means you get an energetic adjustment) and learn to let yourself dissolve into the energetic self you were meant to be. Sigh. I'm good. I couldn't bear to go on, even though the introduction promised all I had to do was listen to have my whole life changed.
I could read this book time and time again and always get something different from it. It is the kind of book you could just open on any page and get something from.
Dain sees the world as I always knew possible and I am so grateful for him and this book, filled with information on changing what doesn't work for you and creating the life you would like to have.
I'm sure this book is great, however I just cannot get past the authors consistent use of the word gifted, last time I checked this was a noun not a verb, perhaps this is just my upbringing. Unfortunately it annoyed me so much that I could not continue the book.
Dr Dain Heer says this book is for "weird" people - yep! I'm weird; I LOVED this book. I started re-reading it again this morning. Only read it if you are weird, and willing to think way way way outside the box.
Would I recommend the book, yes .. if you have time to read it. Same information as any other book from a different author. The way he puts it is beautiful and makes change. At so many parts I felt he’s talking to me personally.
He lost me on page 1 but I continued to read to page 7 when the bizarre cult undertones (the "Access clearing statement" with such gems as "Boys. Stands for nucleated spheres") were too much.
Seeing all the positive reviews, I am genuinely wondering if something is wrong with me. I rarely ever give one star to a book, but I just can’t help with this one. I’ve heard about access consciousness and I believe it’s a great thing to do. Chapter 1 and 2 were kind of okay but later on I started feeling that something was off. A sense of cringe comes through the authors words. Then things started to become stranger as I went on, so I made the mistake of looking up who the hell this guy is. After hearing him speak about scientology, and seeing those colorful rosy shirts he’s wearing it all made sense. He’s the type of people I can’t be around, they give me unbearable cringe. The book is absolutely ridiculous, I felt so happy I was still within my return period. He talks utter nonsense like there’s two types of people: horses who likes to jump around and have sex, and cows who like to eat popcorn and watch tv. The most important chant in the book “right and wrong, good and bad…” was explained very poorly, and instead suggested you to check the course on the website. Just please, if u have half a brain, avoid this book.
This a self-help book and I was expecting to find some better content, however, the One thing which I discovered from this lecture and fascinates me is the Judgement.
We have been taught to judge others since we became adults, and this follows us all our lives but how many people you can go to and they won’t judge you? You would feel comfortable and at ease with them. Not many, isn’t it?
Don’t judge anyone no matter who they are, nobody is perfect. The kids are the only ones who will not judge you. We should learn from them.
The world will be a much better place if we don’t judge each other.
Definitely a “weird” book, and not for everyone, but weird doesn’t typically bother me. There are parts of this book that are inspiring and thought provoking, but I had a difficult time getting past the tone deaf way that the author described “the ghetto” where he grew up, and the portion about his childhood abuse could be extremely triggering for survivors (not “victims”, like he claims) due to how he essentially pardoned his abuser and takes responsibility for saving the abuser from his sexual deviancy. I had trouble continuing the book after that, but I did finish it.
WOW this was quite an interesting read! I had read some of the reviews here and wasn't sure whether it had been a good thing or a bad thing that I had borrowed this book to read. Actually it was a GREAT thing that I did. I'm not in agreement with all of the premises but I love how it forced me to think out of my normal way of thinking. And some of the items that were mentioned I have been putting into practice right away and it really does change the way I see things. Definitively not a book for everyone but if you give it a chance I think you will get some insight for sure.
A fantastic book for pointing out all of the thoughts and bleiefs you may be carrying around that may be holding you back from leading your ideal authentic life.
I would have to say that I find the whole idea of just using a mantra (the whole POD/POC idea) to be a bit shallow and may only work if you've been on the access courses and do some deeper work on refuting your limiting beliefs and thoughts.
