Great reviews on Amazon. This is Talk to Me ebook. Here's one reviewer's comment: By Tavares S. Carney "Inspire, Motivate & Encourage" (Michigan) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME) This review is from: Talk to Me (Urban Christian) (Paperback) In the novel Talk to Me by Pat Simmons, the author introduces readers to Noel Richardson, an independent, wealthy and spiritual businessman with strong family values. His only perceived setback, and to varying degrees, according to supporting characters Mackenzie and Valerie, is Noel's inability to hear. The author intertwines themes of faith and equal opportunity as the main character deals with challenges of acceptance, societal inclusion and developing even keel relationships. After reading Talk to Me by Pat Simmons, I became more enlightened to the challenges and everyday experiences of members of the Deaf population. Reinforced messages throughout the novel are "accept people as they are" and "never make assumptions".
Author Pat Simmons has a great platform with this novel. Readers will close the last page with a sense of understanding and perhaps a more open-minded view of the challenges faced by the Deaf population. The author does a great job of bringing the issues of an underserved population to light, while at the same time delighting readers with an intriguing romance between Noel and Mackenzie. I would definitely read another novel by Pat Simmons.
This book was somewhat of a shocker. Upon reading the review, I had no indication that it was a romance novel. Seeing how I like a little romance in my life it was a pleasant surprise Also it didn't end the way I thought it would, but I enjoyed it none the less. It was romance done tastefully.
it was a good love story about how you should envolve god in your everyday life and the struggles that you go through building a relationship with god and the person that you are with.
Mr. Noel Richardson was Mr. GQ personified. I enjoyed his character and felt his challenges, and he could actually speak. I appreciate that Mrs. Simmons is raising awareness to societal situations in her novels. Her novels aren’t just rich handsome guy gets pretty lady, but something that increases knowledge in addition to being entertaining. MacKenzie was a bit too feisty and her high sense of self almost caused her to lose her blessing. The novel was Suspenseful -I was asking “is Noel going to get the girl?”. I had decided this would be the one Pat Simmons book that had an unhappy ending. The book was detailed and very lengthy, but you will get your money’s worth. Another kudos is we had a good illustration of a handsome man on the cover. His description from the author matched very well with the book cover. I deducted one star bec MacKenzie had a bit of extra drama for my personal liking.
Each book that I read written by this author, I give myself extra time to read. Why? Because I enter into praise and worship along with my bible study. This compelling book was an argument to not confuse God's messages with my wants. I also learned to not question another person's faith. The information about the deaf signage and life in a hearing world was humbling. I must admit that I began to get bored around chapter 37. I do not know if it was my short attention span or the customary writing that I have experienced with reading the previous 18 books by the author.
This was a refreshing perspective of the deaf community. I grew up in a large community of deaf population. But I had never experienced it until COVID. I helped a member of the community shopping while I worked at a retail establishment. It was an eye opening experience. Mackenzie and Noel's journey was so unique. We got to read and understand both of their perspectives. I truly enjoy all of Pat Simmons works but this was a hidden gem! It touched on some precious issues prevalent in today's culture especially with the deaf community.
I loved this book and it gave me some inside into the deaf community and some of their challenges. It was definitely a page turner and I could hardly put it down!
This is one of my all time favorites. This was the first time I'd ever read a book that dealt with a character's handicap. I didn't agree with some of the theology and some of the church practices but the story was well written and kept my attention.
Pat simmons does it again with this interesting story about a man who became deaf as a teenager and the deaf intepreter he meets while visiting a church. Very intriguing, and I'm sure Mrs. Simmons had to do a lot of research for the story to flow as good as it did. Kudos
I felt that the book was good and i enjoyed it showed how two people should be when they fall in love and the strugle that they may face and with god it can be done!!!
