Web Of Lies by JG Sumner is a... Web of total insanity!!!

OMG... I have rarely read a book that was not so full of drama, deceit, misconduct and deception. I was completely taken by it because once you start, its like a bag chips...

Hero and heroines... All three... are self interested assholes. This is no romance, it's a soap opera. You won't fall in love with any of these characters. And I had little sympathy for anyone in the story. The 41 year old hero, for being so selfish and falling for a 16 year old. (WHAT? You may say... YES!!).
His wife. For all the deceitful things she did to her husband.
And the 16 year old nanny, for tearing apart a family.

The story was so stressful that I had to pop an antacid to get through it. If you're in mood for some real drama... give it a go. But remember... this really is no romance.

There were more than a few parts where you really ask yourself how an educated man can be so dumb. He makes a few key mistakes that made me wonder what the author was doing. Like when he finds out everyone is trying to set him up, possibly even the nanny... Yet he tells her the truth about his father and brings her to the bank then the Cayman Islands where he grants her access to his millions? Pleeeeeaaaase!!!
Or when they leave the three kids at home alone with strangers to go off somewhere and have a family meeting right after their nanny was attacked by a mobster in their own house. THEY LEFT THE KIDS!!! What the hell?!!

There are many things in this book that make you go...hmmmmmmm... But if choose to read this, be warned!! Its Chardonnay or Rolaids!! (Maybe both!) Because it certainly is a roller coaster ride!

This is a trilogy? Good Lord!!!

Reviewed on behalf of Book Addict.live,
“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.”
I don’t think I can put it any  better than Sir Walter Scott as this saying was popping about in my head while reading this book.
Web of Lies is a book where nothing is how it seems. At first we have a happily married couple with three children. Until a conspiracy is planned against the husband who naively trusts his wife and her brother as they conspire against him.
This is a great read I really enjoyed it as the machinations going on. I really felt sorry for Trent, as he is manipulated by all around him. This being the first book of a trilogy we think we know who is behind all the problems. Towards the end everyone seems to put all the surprises behind then and  carry on as normal.
We end on a cliffhanger, which I knew would happen, but I was enjoying the book so much I didn’t want it to end. I now have to wait for book two Cage of Deceit.

Is it wrong to have a crush on your 16-year old babysitter? But Mr. Trent Davis, a successful lawyer with a perfect wife, perfect family, and perfect trust fund can’t help but be allured by the young and voluptuous Beth.

“I ignore the number flashing like a neon sign in my head and inch forward, mesmerized by how her tongue and lips could make eating so sexual. I press myself against her and lean down as she removes the stem from her lips to invite me in.” (14)

For Beth, a sultry vixen, Trent was the whole million-dollar package. The only thing standing in her was the wife.

Told in the POV of the main characters, story encompasses powerful and exciting emotions, like Trent’s resentment of his wife’s charities or Beth’s envy and desires. It’s a whirlwind of moral ethics, obsessions, and complications. How could something so wrong feel so right?

However, it turns out that there is much more going on than just a tawdry affair. Something big is happening with the family business and everyone is holding secrets. Turns out blood and loyalty run deep in families. And, soon, the web of lies takes form, quickly spiraling into an intricate pattern of manipulation and betrayal. Who can you really trust?

Well-written and captivating, Web of Lies is a mysterious embellishment of passion, greed, and deceit. There’s a game being played and no one knows who will win. You can’t wait to see how this ends. A worthy read!

Such a great start to this trilogy!

Get ready for one thriller that will leave you at the edge of your seat. This forbidden romance was not only hot but also suspenseful. I don't know how many times I wanted to crush my kindle while reading. Web of Lies was such a great start to this trilogy. Usually cheating is a hard limit for me in books and was a little nervous going in, but JG Sumner wrote this book in a way that made me not only enjoy this story but kept me hooked all through the end.
The title totally describes this story perfectly. Everyone is keeping secrets and no one can be trusted. One lie always leads to another and before you know it, you're in too deep. Not only are people secrets and reputations on the line, but so are their lives.
I can't wait for the next book to come out and see what these characters are up to next. Definitely a must read.

If you had one more book to read this year then Web of lies is it!!!

Guys, let me tell you how this story got under my skill.
The level of emotions that was drawn out of from me was beyond anything that I've read this year.
JG Sumner is excellent at writing mystery into her stories. I can't tell you guys enough how much I love this author and all of her books.
Web of Lies follows the story of a successful lawyer with the almost perfect life. Trent knows he has it all but feels that something is missing. I won't talk too much about the plot as I don't want to give anything away.

Basically lies unfold and expect the unexpected.

Overall, great plot, characters that get under your skin (Trent is ughhh) but a story that kept me wanting more and very entertaining.
Amazing read!!

Carla's Four Star Review

Holy Cow! If you are looking for a thriller packed full of twists and turns, this is the book for you!

This story focuses on Trent Davis. In most people's eyes, Trent seems to have it all-a great job, a loving family, wealth, and a family name that is well known and respected among the elite. However, things are always what they appear to be. The story that follows is one of lies, secrets, betrayal, and blackmail.

Overall, I found this to be a pretty good read. With that said, cheating is a hard limit for me. If not for that, this would have been a five star read for me.

This is generally why I do not read trilogies anymore. I can't stand cliffhangers. This is also why I don't read books that have cheating or one of the main characters married. It just pisses me off when the hero or heroine is just so wishy-washy. Make your intentions clear from the start because then it just gets aggravating to me. Of course I'm going to have to read at least book 2 to find out what's going on because that's just the type of reader I am but otherwise I would have avoided this.

For someone who doesn't have the same hangups with these books that I do I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I have to say I did not care for the way the story starts and continues on in one of the many plots happening during this book. But that is more a personal reason and not anything to actually do with the story. This book is well written with many twists that will keep you guessing. It is a part of a series and even as much as I disliked one of the story lines the rest of the book is interesting enough for me to want to read the next book. Overall this book is well written and shoulders be given a fair chance

Web Of Lies is a forbidden romance with lots of drama, suspense and betrayal. It is book 1 in The Lies Trilogy. It will keep you guessing until the very end. It's rare that I find a book that I can't figure out what's going to happen, but this is one of those books. Trent has a perfect life. Wealth, prestige, a beautiful wife and 3 amazing son's. Now the sin's of the past and present are jeopardizing his perfect life. Nothing is as it seems and there are so many lies it will make your head spin. I could not put this one down. I can't wait for book 2.

One of my favorite things about J.G. Summer books are now the author pulls in the suspense and keeps the readers on their toes the entire time. I have read other books of hers and have loved delving into those stories so I couldn’t wait to read this book.

If you haven’t read on of J.G. Sumner’s books before then you are missing out; this one has lies & deceit, secrets and betrayals. This is the first book in a trilogy and it was a great start for a series – I can’t wait to see what comes next!

**4 Stars - I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.

This book had me interested at the beginning and slightly not happy with the way Beth was acting. But there is more to this story then just the affair between Beth and Trent. The title really reflects what is going on in this book so many lies that it all becomes a web and just when you think you have learned it all. You end up discovering so much more. This was a great book, I really liked the mystery and how it kept me on my toes the whole time for I just really wanted to know how it all would play out in the end.

Web of Lies was fantastic. It kept me glued to the pages. The title fits this book perfectly. Secrets, lies, blackmail, and betrayal all play a part in this highly charged book. This is most definitely a forbidden romance that may push your comfort level, but this scandalous book kept me wanting more. There are lots of bombshells and unexpected twists and turns. I can't wait for more in book 2, Cage Of Deceit! Most definitely a 5 star read for me!

I think this book should come with a trigger warning given some of the subjects of this book. It had a lot going on in this story so many plots in one book I think it would be best spread out amongst more books of a story. The characters were developed in their parts of the book it just seemed they had to many plots they were trying go include in this book. I don't plan on reading the next book of this series.

I love this cover. I think that it is a great cover to depict the feel of the novel.

A Main character who is easy to relate to and understand. Trent really appeals to the reader and you care what happens to him throughout the novel. I really liked the forbidden aspect of the novel. Those romances are always my favorites.

This is definitely a Romantic Suspense novel that will make you think and keep you guessing. Then you will want book #2 as soon as possible!

Web of Lies is fantastic! I enjoyed the story so much. It will hook you in from the beginning and will not let go, at all. I loved the romance, but the suspense was just the cherry on top. The lies, the secrets, forbidden romance, it was all wonderful!! I cannot wait to read more. This is a definite must read!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Holy moly! This has to be one of my favorite forbidden romances! J.G. Sumner nailed it when it comes this plot. So many twist and turns, but not an overwhelming amount where you struggle to keep up.

The story itself, well if your not into a grown man falling for the pretty, babysitter this book isn't for you! If you are, don't look back! Go to your reading platform and buy now!!!!

First Time

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I enjoyed the book and I look forward to reading more of her books, the only thing I didn't like was the age. I'm not a writer but I wished the author had made the character 21 at 16 that would be rape and I don't like it.

This was my first book to read by this author. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn't read the pages fast enough wanting to see what was going to happen next. Lots of lies, and telling more lies to cover those lies. Whew! The way it ended, oh my gosh! I can't wait for book 2 to see what direction the author takes us!!
