Malie's mom manages an ice cream parlor, but Malie's real love is ballet. She dreams of landing the lead in an upcoming production of Cinderella and dancing onstage while her boyfriend, Ethan, cheers from the audience. But Malie's mom is less than supportive.

Then cute new boy Alonzo arrives from Italy. His true love is ice cream -- gelato, to be exact. Alonzo offers a Malie a deal: If she lets him help out at the parlor, she can take dance lessons from his mom, a famed ballerina.

As Malie pirouettes between the parlor and the ballet studio, things start to spin out of control. Does she have feelings for Alonzo? What about Ethan? And if she doesn't get a role in Cinderella, can she find her happily ever after?

When she was in kindergarten, Suzanne Nelson jotted down in a school keepsake album that she wanted to be a “riter.” Though she clearly had issues with spelling, she persisted, composing cryptic poems about rainbows, fairies, mud, and even "Star Wars" in spiral notebooks all through elementary school. When she was seventeen, she filled four journals with her handwritten first novel, titled “The Dream Keeper.” To escape her chores, she often lied to her parents about what time her shift started at the local fast food joint so that she could spend an extra hour writing in the parking lot in her mom’s faded Buick. Her first published novel was The Sound of Munich, followed by Heart and Salsa, The Ghoul Next Door, Cake Pop Crush, and Dead in the Water. She is a shameless fan of “The Sound of Music,” Hershey’s kisses, Charlotte Bronte, and Jane Austen, and can often be caught daydreaming of romping about gothic castles in lovely Victorian gowns. She was born in New Jersey, grew up in Southern California, attended college in Texas, and spent eight years as a children’s book editor in New York City. She now lives in Ridgefield, Connecticut with her family.

Cute and enjoyable. My one complaint was that Lanz was a walking Italian steotype.

So this book was enjoyable enough, I liked the fact that Mallie is a Ballet dancer since I'm trying to get into this these days so I felt so related to her ..
The story is about Mallie, a ballet dancer who is suddenly being challenged when she had to lie to her mother and pretend she doesn't like a another boy while she already have a boyfriend .. but all is good when Sundae's are in the mix
the story was nice but as you can tell I didn't like the fact that there was a mild form of cheating in this .. so yeah

This book is a masterpiece. 5 stars with a cherry on top.

There are many reasons for my love of this novel. The characters are great, the plot is great, the recipes are 10/10.

I will start my explanation with the characters. The main characters are Malie and Lanz. Malie is a young dancer with dreams of having the lead role in Cinderella, a dance that her studio is putting on. Lanz just came from Italy and adores creating creamy concoctions. When Malie can't afford dance and Lanz can't make ice cream, their dreams collide, just like how they collided when they first met. My favorite character, though, is Tillisha, Malie's best friend.

Next up is the plot. It was awesome and very realistic. Malie's mother works at an ice cream shop, but the owner hates them. Malie has to work at the shop, too, and she doesn't get paid. Because of this, Malie's mother can't afford her fancy dancey classes. Luckily, Lanz comes from Italy. His mother is the new dance teacher. Lanz really really likes ice cream and doesn't want to get paid, so he works at the ice cream shop in exchange for Malie's lessons. Of course Malie thinks Lanz is super cool because he is, but she has a boyfriend named Ethan who hates her and never talks to her and likes science. She eventually eliminates Ethan as she should, and I was really happy about this.

Lastly, the recipes and food in this were spectacular. Goldichocs and the Butterfinger Bears? Yes please! I love how we can make our own Tiaramisu at home with the help of our parents.

I would like to thank Suzanne Nelson for this amazing experience. I hope you also enjoyed this book and if you didn't, you should jump in a pit with Ethan <3.

'Sundae My Prince Will Come' by Suzanne Nelson combines main character Malie's love of ballet with her relationship woes. Her boyfriend, Ethan, whom she has been friends with for years before they chanted their relationship status, seems like her perfect match. They get along well, share friends, enjoy spending time together, and respect each other's personal interests, even if they don't have them in common. Everything seems like it's fine and dandy until Alonzo - Lanz for short - comes to town. His arrival prompts Malie to begin questioning feelings that she has never felt before, and which she doesn't know what to do with, especially since she's still with Ethan.

As she acts like she doesn't want to be around Lanz, he makes every attempt to try to win her over as friends. The fact that she is standoffish only makes him more focused on figuring out why she doesn't want to bother with him. When Malie doesn't think she'll be able to take ballet anymore, Lanz smoothly comes to the rescue, owing to the fact that his mother is the new dance instructor at the studio where Malie dances. They come up with what they feel is an even exchange, even though Lanz is willing to do even more than necessary to hold up his end of the bargain.

Malie's friends and her mother figure into her predicament as she keeps a variety of secrets from each of them, including her attraction to Lanz and her feelings of upset over becoming disconnected from Ethan. The fact that a mean girl is out to steal her part in the ballet school's performance of Cinderella puts the level of worry and annoyance over the top for Malie, and she has trouble knowing where and to whom to turn for help.

A sweet and enjoyable story about the power of friendship, family, and knowing how to rely on others rather than just oneself, Malie's story is one that will resonate with readers of all ages. Life doesn't always go just the way one hopes, but that doesn't mean it can't end up working out in the end.

This book was really good. I like how the author has the characters feel confused about their feelings and all along we know how they feel and want them to figure it out. There are a lot of plot twist that make you want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen. I also like how the characters are hiding things from each other and it leaves you wondering whats going to happen and when their going to find out.

This wasn’t a favorite, because the problems seemed a bit more far fetched and the relationships with friends and family didn’t come across as well developed as in other books. Cute over all but I had to listen to the ending three times to know what happened because I kept falling asleep. Even the recipes at the end were subjective to the ice cream machine you have. Understandable, but also took a bit out of the recipe fun as well.

This book was spectacular. I originally only picked it up at my school's Book Fair because it was cheap and thick enough for my taste, though I doubted it would be my genre. It is now evident that yes, it was.

This book was happy, with minor problems for the character in the beginning, but I saw how they really began to pile up upon Malie. I saw how not all of the problems could be tied to one problem, or force. I saw how the author captured real life, and real problems, in a way that makes the reader feel sympathy for this girl. This book had me hooked, and it was a wonderful, easy-to-read Sunday read.

Spoiler: When Lanz left, that was an amazing plot twist. I understood his reasons and it made perfect sense, his kind soul, yet a felt tears in my eyes as I read that scene and onwards. I was shipping those two from the beginning, and it truly hurt me. When he returned, that only made more sense, and it was a delightful surprise.

I appreciate Malie's sense of justice, and I love how she was kind to Violet when the girl did not deserve her compassion. It was wonderful, Ms. Nelson. Thank you so much for giving me this wonderful tale for only $6.99. Also, the recipes are amazing. I will be trying them out later!

Choice book number 2 quarter 3
Sundae my prince will come by Susanne Nelson is a realistic fiction book. It takes place in the city. The main setting is in her mom's ice cream shop and at a dance studio. The main character is a girl named Malie. She loves to dance. But when her mom takes dancing away because she thinks it's too much. Malie starts keeping all these lies from her mom. Some other important characters that play a big role in the book is this boy named Alonzo. The reason he is important is that Alonzo loves ice cream so he helps out at the ice cream parlor. Also, there is Malie's boyfriend, Ethen. Ethen is very kind but gets carried away in science. Malie is very caring and is also helpful, but when she cant dance she tells lies making it the main problem.
I think the theme of this book is to not lie. I think this because when Malie lies she feels farther apart from her mom and it's like her mom is not there for her. It also causes many problems like when her mom finally finds out she loses something that really matters. I am not going to tell you what because I don't want to spoil. Lying also causes other people to lie too. Like her best friend lies because she has to keep the secret too. Also, the two of them lie about a project that didn't even happen. Lastly why I think the theme is about not to lie is because Malie put one of her good friends in trouble because of their lies. Another example is Alonzo lied to he mom and had to go back to Italy for a week to refresh because his mom was mad. It also caused both of them to be in an argument. That is why I think the theme is about not lying.
I really liked this book! I enjoyed it because the book was very descriptive about the characters and what was going on. My favorite part was the ending, when Alonzo made ice cream/ gelato for Malie. It was such a good ending and made lots of sense. I also do think the book was complete and I would not have changed anything. I highly recommend this book! Thanks for reading my review.

{My thoughts} – Malie is a sweet girl that aspires to be an incredible ballet dancer. She has goals, and she has so many dreams of how she’d like to see herself in the future. She also has a job helping her mom at the local ice cream shop called Once Upon a Scoop. She has a boyfriend named Ethan that she is more or less just comfortable with, but he doesn’t seem to be anymore then just a friend when it all comes down to it.

Things get a bit shook up in her world when her ballet teacher steps down and the school she attends hires a new instructor. The new instructor causes the school to double the tuition prices as well as a new student at her school to appear.

Malie goes through a series of events in the book that would break and make any child at her age. I enjoyed reading about her determination and her desire to do more, to do better. Her desire to prove just how much dance meant to her as well as her desire to help her mom with the ice cream shop. However, throughout most of the book Malie has to make a number of important choices and some of them end up not being the best. This book helps to show that even though you make bad choices that your parents will still be there to love and support you and that your friends will still be your friends. Sometimes, it’s best just to wait things out and have faith.

I think that any child that is struggling with too much on their plate could benefit from reading this. Also any child that desires to be good at dance or any extracurricular activity could also benefit from reading this book. I think it could make a nice addition to any child’s bookshelf.

I enjoyed reading, "Sundae My Prince Will Come" because I really like the characters in this book, and I also like their personalities. The main character, Malie works at an ice cream parlor with her mom. She has a boyfriend named, Ethan and they are in a foursome friend group with her best friend, Tilly, and Tilly's boyfriend, Andres. Her parents are divorced, and her dad lives in Hawaii as an artist. Malie takes dance class, and is a really good dancer. Her mom, does not support Malie's dancing "career". When her dance studio gets a famous dancer to teach, Malie's mom can't afford to pay for dance, so she tells Malie she will no longer be dancing. Malie runs into a boy at the dance studio, not knowing who he was. When that boy showed up to the parlor one day, she was surprised. She learned his name was, Alonzo and he came from Italy with his mom, a famous dance coach. When Alonzo first started going to school, Malie did not like him at all. But, when Alonzo made a deal with Malie, she was starting to warm up to him. It also seems like Ethan is having feelings for someone else. I totally recommend this book!

Malie Analu works at the Once Upon a Scoop ice cream parlor in Marina Springs, Florida; her mom as manager, but Malie's real love has always been dance, hoping to one day be a professional ballet dancer. So when the opportunity to audition for the conservatory's annual ballet comes around she is infinitely excited in hopes she'll have the chance to get chosen for the lead, even though her mother thinks dancing is just a phase she'll eventually outgrow. When a new boy in town named Alonzo, Lanz for short comes into her life and starts working at the parlor it makes her question her feelings and things start to get complicated as she tries to balance dancing and her job at the parlor.
A wonderful story! Loved the characters immensely, especially Malie who in spite of her mother's feelings, is very determined and refuses to give up her love of dancing or her dreams. Lanz too whom I found to be absolutely sweet and charming!
Another awesome book from Suzanne Nelson!

For the longest time, it's just been Malie and Ethan. As driven individuals, they understand perfectly when one of them needs space to focus on their interests. But recently, Malie feels that Ethan's been giving her too much space... and that there's something missing from their relationship. At the same time, she can't help feeling drawn to Lanz, a new boy with an infectious smile and underlying passion for gelato. Where does Malie's heart lie, and can she trust herself to make the right decision?

This book was a delight from start to finish. With a keen eye, Suzanne Nelson deftly captures the messiness and complexity of teenage relationships. There were many heart-wrenching moments but the tears started flowing when I got to Lanz's letter. Lanz has always treated Malie with sincerity and encouraged her to follow her dreams. With this book, I'm now convinced that ice cream and ballet are the sweetest mix!

Malie loves ballet and dreams of dance all day long, only as she improves does she find her life might be about to change forever as her dance teacher leaves to be replaced by a more experienced and this more expensive tutor.

As her mum struggles for cash, dance must end but then she meets Lanz, wanting to help out at their work in the Disney themed Sundae shop, he offers them a surprise way to solve their problems...

This is the latest in the series so far and by far my favourite as it includes ballet and ice creams! The love story is full of twists to get to true happiness and the dream of playing Cinderella and dancing on pointe is a realistic dancer goal to have. I enjoyed seeing the friendships and relationships change over the course of the book and was hooked on the sweet story.

Sundae my prince will come is a very heartwarming love story. It starts off with Malie who loves ballet but, her mom doesn't support it, then came along Alonzo who's from Italy and love gelato. Malie now has to deal with family drama while keeping her friendship with Alonzo and balancing Ethan, her boyfriend and childhood friend. Will she land the principal spot in Cinderella or will she regret it for her life.

I really liked this book it gives off a very sweet vibe and it has some part that I don't like like when Malie and Lanz a.k.a Alonzo got in a fight but, I know there's going to be a happy ending so I don't have to worry. I loved the part when Lanz got the shoes for Malie and put it on for her it was like the actual Cinderella but modernize.

Okay now I have to take back what I said in Bacon Me Crazy because I think this is the best book (wait, actually no, probably the second) uh the reason why I enjoyed the book was because I just like stories with the main character being passionate about ballet and wants to chase their dreams.

Anyways, I think this is quite a different book from the others (they are all quite different), one of the reasons being that the protagonist already has a boyfriend. I think thee situation can be quite relatable and realistic (I meant the part about not having enough money to keep going to the lessons, the part where bad stuff happened at the ice cream place, the protagonist keeping her dancing a secret.) Overall I think it’s a great book. And also Gelato ice cream isn’t so bad.

Okay so this was a cheese cheese cheeeesy middle grade (as the cover and title *clearly* imply) but…it was kinda cute? It’s full of stereotypes and puns and obnoxious middle grade vocabulary, but I ultimately found it to be a joyful little read. I liked Mallie’s characterization because she had a clear focus on hard work and determination. And I actually thought the handling of the romantic relationships here (a love triangle of sorts) was mature modeling for this age group. Lanz was a very stereotypical Italian and his corniness was over-the-top and unbelievable, but the only character that really bugged me was Tillie. Otherwise, for young kids they made some responsible choices I appreciated.

It is about how mable mom owns an ice cream parlor but malie’s really loves ballet instead. She does not know how to tell her mom she likes ballet better. There is a play at her school she wants to try out for Cinderella but will she tell her mom or not and do it instead you will have to read the book to find out

A real fun and cute middle grade. I loved the additions of ice cream and ballet and the age appropriate conflicts. The foodie in me might have to pick up the other books in this food series as I enjoyed this one a lot.

As a middle schooler, I absolutely loved this book! It’s a super cute beginner romance. Reading back on it now, it’s a bit cheesy. However, it still warms the middle schooler in my heart. I remember crying in my English class over this book.
