Just Another Book Niggas Ain't Gon' Read

There’s an age-old saying and stereotype that if you want to hide something from a black person, put it in a book. It implies that black people don’t read and as a result of this inaction, they are doomed to perish from a lack of knowledge. Conversely, in the age of texting, social media, and inescapable displays of advertisement & propaganda, it can be said that black people—as well as every other literate demographic—are writing and reading more than any other generation in human history. Nevertheless, we all have the power of choice in what genres of literary works we put a conscious effort into consuming. “Just Another Book Niggas Ain’t Gon’ Read” is a comprehensive self-help manual of social & political strategies from an urban perspective. Described as “A self-help guide for trolls, by a troll”, the book is comprised of 25 keys to personal growth & self-awareness of author/blogger & infamous social media troll Marcus A. Brown of www.TheMABExperience.com Unlike many other traditional self-help books, this book was written with an entry-level approach to improving your life and shaping your world-perspective, and has been formatted in such a way to be much like the audio lectures and social media rants by MAB himself. If you read a series of Marcus’ triggering Facebook statuses, then you will certainly enjoy this book and find much to gain from it.

I found about about this book because the title was so controversial it went viral on Facebook. I laughed immediately when I read it because 1. I knew it was satire 2. The Author had both a great sense of humor and a good handle on marketing tactics. I mean......what better way to get "ninjas" that don't read talking about a book they probably won't read? Genius!! Marcus says this book isn't the end all be all to self help but it's a rant too big for a blog but coming from someone too small to be respected in academia. I agree. This book to me is the male version of Luvvie Ajayi's I'm Judging You. The author gives advice to millenials based on his 30 something years of life by tackling several issues millenials face and ranting on each topic. Some of it was laugh out loud funny and some was common sense like most self-help but as they say common sense ain't common. I think this is a great book for college millenials but it was worth a read especially at the pre-order price of 99 cents.

I like this book because it’s blunt but hilarious and it does give advice that can useful in life. Although it can be controversial but this book just tells it how it is and it I enjoyed reading it.
