The Kings #1

Mated To The Werewolf King

Rate this book
As war looms between the two species, the Demon Lord is determined to find Annabelle – little does she know, the truth behind his sinister actions is about to unravel.
When Annabelle discovers that she is not the true daughter of the Alpha in her pack, her world, as she knows it, comes crashing down and she finds herself running to hide from the tyrannical Demon Lord who is hell-bent on finding her.

Despite her objections, she is taken to the court of the Werewolf King. He’s arrogant, stubborn and discerning of her very being, but willing to defend her… for now.

Will the Werewolf King yield to the Demon Lord’s ultimatum and give her to the enemy or will she be the cause of a looming war between the two species?

More importantly, what does the Demon Lord want with Belle? She’s only a werewolf… isn’t she?

Not only wolves, but other supernatural creatures as well. I don't want to give anything away, but this book has a sneaky way of dragging you into the story and following every twist and turn with baited breath. The characters are believable, the story unique. One of my favorite wolf shifter stories now. - L.R.

I absolutely love this book and I cannot wait for the next one! What a wild and twisty ride the book was!!! I swear once I had everything figured out, it changed all over again, twisting and turning the entire way through. I love the writing it has a nice smooth and easy way of taking you to another world were vampires, witches, demons, and of course werewolves are all living along with humans and other supernatural beings. - Celeste

And now some guilty pleasure

Up until 60% I was struggling with this book. At 60% I wrote this,

"I really don't want to DNF this because I want to know how this ends but I am losing my patience with these characters -

But the rest 40% went smooth like old wine...

So coming back to the story - this world is of supernaturals - witches, wizards, werewolves, demons, vampires so on and so forth and also the world of superlatives. The author cannot write a simple sentence, everything has to be fantastic, and majestic and breath needs to be taken out every once in a while...
Random flips and sentences found

I wanted to be part of the dust particles and just float away. The helicopter took to the grey sky leaving Derek and all the shadow spirits behind. My world closed in around me; I was having difficulty breathing.

Yes, he was sexy as hell, and he could turn my brain and body to mush with a single touch, but none of that changed the fact that he was still an arrogant, overbearing, self-absorbed brute! I stomped my foot in exasperation. He wasn't going to intimidate me, and he wasn't going to make me feel guilty, I decided.

Generally, I don't like such superlatives but after 60%, I simply ignored it and the rest went fine.

So we have a very ordinary girl who is just a regular werewolf and very low in the hierarchy. All of a sudden, she finds herself with new powers and half-witch/half-demon offspring and hence she is the first hybrid and therefore fated mate for the werewolf king, vampire king, demon king and I forgot the 4th one but you get my drift. All of sudden from no one to everyone's desired object our poor Belle finds herself trapped in the Underworld and her adventure never stops.

As the title goes, Belle finds her true mate in Werewolf King - Keith and finds her happily ever after.

Minor whining - It has been happening lately that Netgalley is starting to give books without cover art. Though I requested this for a quick and easy read, (and was completely unaware the full series is already available in KU), I don't think it is OK to send files to reviewers without cover art. Just saying...

I don't like writing bad reviews especially when it's the first one but I didn't like this book. It just wasn't for me. The title is misleading so please read the synopsis. Mated to the Werewolf King isn't really a shifter novel. It's an underworld fantasy story with a mixture of mythological creatures. It's action packed with fantasy, mystery, drama and a bit of horror. If you like journey books this one is for you.

Belle discovers everything she thought was true wasn't. She thought she was the daughter of the alpha but something wasn't right. Now she is turning 18 male suitors are coming for her and not just the shifter kind. She has to leave everything she has ever known behind and try to work out who she is.

2 stars out of 5. *ARC received in exchange for a fair review. Sorry, this one just wasn't for me*

I received a free copy for an honest review

It's the kind of romance story that reminded you of a fanfiction on Wattpad.

It is so bad it's good.

The romance is atrocious.

And I bloody loved it.

Okay, just give me a moment to collect my thoughts.

*intake of coffee*

I was almost tempted to give this book 5 stars, because it is so rare that I laugh so hard in my life. So few books are capable of doing that to me.

So in a way, I really enjoyed this book.

Because of how horrible it is.

This book is the definition of things that are so bad, they're good.

The romance is a fricking joke. It is actually funny to read. It's such a big mess, and just a whole giant pile of what-the-actual-hell-is-going-on.

The hero in this story, the Wolf King, Keith, actually reminded me of my father. He does not command respect, he does not seem like a leader, he just seems like a tyrant who screams at people to earn respect (which of course never works).

I think there was an attempt on the love triangle with Xavier, but the whole story is so all over the place it's just...

I legitimately laughed out loud when they first kissed. It was so weird. Like ten seconds ago Keith was totally making out with the classic bitch character in all paranormal books Zena, and threw her into the dungeon.

And when he visited her to tell her how she deserved it, it's like one moment he's throwing her against the wall, and the next they are, and I quote, 'kissing passionately', and he's like, 'damn you for making me want you again".

The romance (if you can call that) in the book is also just basically a horrible attempt at a hate-love relationship that turned into a severe insta-love you only see in self-published indie books.

It's romances like this, books like this that made me also tell my readers why I know Twilight is actually not that bad.

And when they go on to their journey, literally a few hours after he screamed at her for being late...he then calls her baby...

I'm not even know how to talk about the story because it's completely inconsequential.

The story, right off the bat, I knew it's faced paced. And faced paced is good, I love those books. But this book reveals everything so fast. Like fact after fact, just like that. BAM you're adopted. BAM Wolf King is here. BAM Keith loves you.

And then of course there are all the technical difficulties in this book:

The 'Voice of the protagonist'
The book actually writes like a diary of a winy, cheesy teenage girl. There are lines in here that should be rearranged, changed (or deleted) to portray Belle better, or just make her...less cheesy in general.

"Oww, he was so very sweet!"
"That was my parents for you!"
"Opps!"
"Whew! thank the moon goddess"
"Aargh! How I want to rip his heart out."

I feel like this sentence can be restructured so it's not so...bland.
"He was making me so mad; my blood was boiling."

Completely overusing the exclamation points
The most basic rule in fiction writing: Do not use so much exclamation points. It is basic knowledge that exclamation points, especially in fiction writings are usually unnecessary, and often just jug the readers.

The dialogues
Half the things said in the dialogues can be transferred as our protagonists' thoughts, and not only would've improved the writing structure, but the fluency of the dialogues.

It's such a shame that the story is that bad, because it's got potential. I love paranormal supernatural books, so when I saw that this book has a possible hate-love relationship, I immediately jumped on it.

I would give this book five stars from how much it made me laugh and how much I enjoyed it, but on actual serious technical terms, this book is worth at most one and a half star.

'Mated to the Werewolf King' by Alena Des is the First Book in "The Kings" series. This is the story of Annabelle 'Belle" and King Keith Blake.
Belle is turning 18 years old and just learned that her parents are really not her blood parents. That the Demon Lord wants her and there will be war if she is not turned over. Keith is the King of the Werewolf and overseas his Pack. Since Belle is apart of that Pack he is meeting with her. What Keith isn't really for is his instant feelings for her but doesn't want to accept them. This does make Keith seem meaner and moody. Belle thought she loved her brother's best friend but that is in doubt after her feelings for Keith grow.
Enjoyable shiftier story.

By 50% I was over this. There are several things wrong with this, unfortunately. It's too long it could have been split into two and may be expanded upon. It needs to be edited, I don't think this is YA but it should be, the writing is choppy and very juvenile at times. Belle experienced no emotional growth in fact she seemed to devolve the more her powers grew. She's supposed to be a possible mate for every king but you only meet 3 before her mating and she picked him first so it was kind of obvious he never had any competition. This just frustrated me because it had promise and started out well.

I received an ARC for my honest opinion.

This was a fun and action packed paranormal read. Belle is given over to the Werewolf King for protection as war breaks out amongst werewolves and demons. There is more to Belle than just being a werewolf and the demon king is after her. This was a very nice beginning to the series and found it to be a quick read one I got started. I'd recommend this book.

This was a fun read. The author has created an imaginative world populated by a wide range of creatures including Vampires, Werewolves and Witches. I particularly liked the heroine Belle. Having seven daughters, I like strong young female characters and the author does a great job of letting us get inside the head of Belle so we understand her thoughts and actions.
The pace is quite fast and there are several twists and turns to keep the book exciting. There is also a love story, although the path to true love certainly doesn't run smooth for Belle! She has more than one suitor and rebuffing their interest is not easy.
All in all, this book was well written and a great bit of escapist fun. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

This is a fun read. It has a lot of twists and turns, it has nearly every paranormal creature you can think of, and a lot of heat with the romance. Just when you think the story is wrapping up, a new twist is introduced and the story goes in a totally opposite direction than what you are thinking. YOu are thinking happily ever after, but not today, Satan, those pesky demons are back or there is a new betrayal.

Keith was kind of a jerk at first, but he grew on me once the chapters switched to his perspective and you hear his motivations behind his actions. I liked that Belle didn't take guff from him and put him in his place. I liked it when you think about the fact that Belle is only eighteen and Keith is a 700 some odd year old king used to getting his way

If you're looking for a total shifter book you find it here. Yes, there are some shifters within this book but Mated To The Werewolf King is mostly a fantasy book with freaking huge amount of mythological creatures. Like holy moly were there a lot. Vampires. Demons. Witches. Werewolves. I could continue the list... but you could also just read the book for yourself.

I really liked the relationship between Keith and Belle. I liked the idea of the book but it still somewhat seemed all over the place. It was a quick and easy read. I'd read the next book in this series.

This story had a lot of things going for it! There were things I loved. The premise was intriguing, and the world was unique. It had a wide variety of supernatural beings, and a big world to play in. It was the lack of details and execution that brought the rating down for me.

I wasn’t a fan of our lead characters. Annabelle had a very whiny, immature, and everyone wants me vibe going and it was just too much for me to get over. I would’ve liked to see more growth and maturation during the story arc. It would’ve changed the way I felt. Keith felt over the top and one note. He was often angry, and nearly paranoid with the way he frequently jumped to conclusions.

Two immature characters felt like too much. Still, the plot itself kept me turning the pages. There were fantastic plot twists as well. With a little tightening, taming, and development this could be one killer read.

Belle is furious when her pack wants to send her away as she nears her 18th birthday. What she doesn’t understand is that they only want her to be safe. Action-packed and full of twists and turns, Mated to the Werewolf King is only the beginning of a wonderful paranormal series. Once Belle is under the protection of the Werewolf King, he must make a choice as to whether or not he will hand avoid a war or give in to the Demon King’s demands. Throughout the story, we begin to see why Belle is so special…and how she is more than just an ordinary werewolf.

The story has wonderful worldbuilding and gets you so involved into the story before the cliffhanger ending that it will hook you into continuing on with the series. Definitely recommended for anyone who’s a fan of paranormal romance.

This book has everything you can think of is in it Adventure, Survival, Fear, Jealousy, Betrayal, Suspense, Mystery, Action Packed, Loyalty, Hate, Lust, Love, Hero's and Strong Heroine's. Definitely a MUST READ.

The Alpha kept her raising her as his own. On her 18th birthday things started changing for Bella things that she never knew existed. Lord what an adventure did she go on. Everyone wants Bella but Why? She's just a scared girl with a temper to match her red hair.
King Keith Blake is the Werewolf King he is a Big, Mean, Nasty, Rude Beast. He comes to the Pack in Chicago to protect a girl, one of his own. When he is immediately affected by her, which of course pisses him off never having these kind of emotions, consequently the King was nastier than ever to her.

Have you ever read a book where you feel like you have read the story before ,but the book only published recently so you start thinking may be the story was copied or maybe you have read a very similar story somewhere. And eventually, you can start predicting correctly what happens next? Well that is what happened to me while reading this book and I literally stopped midway and racked my brain of any possible thing which could help me remember if I have read this before and turns out i actually have!

I read this book like 4 years ago when it wasn't published and had weekly chapters being posted on "wattpad" which many of you will be familiar with. Crazy I know! So about this book, If you are into supernatural theme and like werewolf books over vampire than you will love this book. This book is super fast paced but in a good way. It establishes the characters and their relations in a real way, well as real as it can be in a supernatural universe. The story is about a girl who though she was a werewolf all her life, until she comes to know she is not but she is witch. She is mated to the alpha king but also someone, or say few more other kings of their own clans/realms. Without spoiling much, let's just say this is one of those quick reads which will definitely make you want to read more but not be miserable while waiting for the another book to come out.
But this book is also a standalone so when you are in need of a quick dose of chick-lit, this book can be a perfect read.

WOULD I READ THIS BOOK AGAIN SOMEDAY: NOPE, TWICE WAS ENOUGH.
WOULD I READ ANOTHER BOOK BY THE SAME AUTHOR: NOT REALLY.

Happy reading :D

Alena Des is a new author to me.  I picked up her book after seeing the cover and being immediately impressed.  Like all the books I read I went into this one blind knowing only that it had to do with shifters based off the books title.  I was pleasantly surprised by this book.  The storyline was on point.  There was never a lull in excitement.  There were so many twists and turns that I quite trying to figure out where the story might lead because I never got it right!  The inner dialogue was there but, done in a way that I was eager for more rather than skimming to find real conversation.

As much as I loved the storyline I was put off a bit by the character development and the writing overall.  I felt like the characters could have been developed more.  Some of the things they were saying and doing didn't really fit with who I felt the characters were.  Especially with Belle, her emotions were all over the place and it was hard to keep tract of what she was really feeling most of the book.  Some of the things out of Keith's mouth just didn't match up to the image the author was portraying of him.

I think this was a good book that has the potential of being a great book if some of the dialogue and storyline got refreshed.

"3.5 out of 5 stars!! Close to Belle’s (Annabelle) eighteenth birthday, her life forever changes when she learns that everything she knew about herself is a lie. Raised within a werewolf pack, she is taken to the Werewolf King’s castle in hopes to protect her from an unknown source. However, that is just the beginning of the “crazy” that is about to enter her life. Will she be able to “roll with the punches” and make the best of the situations that are thrown her way or will she be “gobbled up and spit out” instead?

This novel was an epic adventure-ride from the start that follows both Belle and the Werewolf King (Keith) as they try to make sense about what is happening to Belle and save their world in the process. Though it is not quite..."

Witches, Werewolves, and Demons Galore!

Seventeen year old Belle thought she was a member of the pack, but being hunted by The Demon King sets her on a journey she never imagined. In what appears to be a unique adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, we follow Belle, a young hybrid, and Keith, the fierce King of the Werewolves.

Although their relationship starts as one of sheer dislike, we see Keith begin to grow on Belle, as she in turn grows on him. I must admit, although I initially hated Keith’s character with his frustrating level of arrogance and stand-offish nature, I began to warm with him as Belle did. It’s like I was experiencing her changing emotional state for myself, her feelings influencing my impression of him.

The story is told through the eyes of three separate characters: Belle, Keith, and Tannon, a one-thousand year old warlock. We are shown the remarkable depth of each character’s thoughts, with each bringing a unique perspective to the story’s events. Belle and Keith proved to be the most stubborn characters I’ve ever met, but in an almost endearing way.

The action hooked me from the start, with a plot that continued to draw me in. This was in addition to the many surprise twists I noticed dotted throughout as I followed Belle on a journey of self-discovery and love.

I love Alena Des’ style of writing and would recommend the sequel, The Warlock’s Nemesis.

Rated 5 stars.

If you like your stories packed full of supernatural creatures, then this book will deliver. Belle a young werewolf discovers that shifting might not be the full extent of her powers. Belle is taken from her home on the eve of her eighteen birthday by Keith the werewolf king. In true paranormal romance style despite their mutual dislike they feel powerfully drawn to each other. Forced to battle all sorts of paranormal creatures, this book takes you on an action packed journey full of unexpected twists and turns.

Kings Series – A Must Read!!!!!
Mated to the Werewolf King is a unique tale crafted in a brand new world and told in a refreshing new way. This is the first of three books focusing on Belle and her Werewolf King, but don’t expect the typical love at first sight story, nope. Their story is rather complicated and it takes awhile for our mates to fully embrace their bound, or do they???? You see, Belle is also mated to the leaders of all the other supernatural realms, so our beastly King has to really work for it if he wants the very special Belle. Read this one, you won’t be disappointed.

The Warlock’s Nemesis
The Warlock’s Nemesis is the second book in this series and tells the tale of Talon the very powerful and very ancient Warlock uncle of Belle, and the spunky healing witch Alice. The two are forced together to save humanity and Supernaturals alike when a plague is unleashed. Secrets are revealed, old friends make an appearance and a new, shady character named Riley seems to be everywhere. Another must read!!!

Heartless
Heartless is the third book of this series and totally changes all the rules. Riley has run from the Underworld, but in order to survive needs constant attention, that is until he meets Oriana, sister to Samuel the Vampire King. He is instantly attracted to her and of course she wants nothing to do with him. Somehow though she ruins him for other women! He makes it his mission to have her. Now you know it’s not going to be that easy right? Let’s just say it takes a lot of time and many tries for this couple to find any peace. Talon and Alice also pop in for a cameo!!!! Loved the whole series!!!!!!

This book needed another edit. The language was clumsy and the story was too long. The idea was interesting but it just wasn't carried out well. It seems to be a trend with New Adult. Just because you're writing about 18-year-old kids doesn't mean you don't have to adhere to some standards for writing. Also the cover completely sucks. There is literally no reason for her to be naked. You are writing a book for women, not men, stop it with the male gaze already.

This book was pretty interesting, with a smoldering hot romantic interest. Though it had that "everyone wants me" thingy going on that's getting quite tiring for me. The plot was intricate enough, and that plottwist was more or less unexpected.
PD yeah, I sound pretty cynical, but it is what it is :)

Disclaimer; I was provided with a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

DNF 70%

I try to be positive with book reviews, and that goes double for first in a series and/or indie published books, but I just couldn't find much to like here. The blurb above had potential but there wasn't as much inter-species politics and worldbuilding as I'd hoped. The supposed looming war is barely mentioned and there's no real sense of scale outside Belle and whoever is trying to sleep with her in that partiular chapter. I was hoping for armies and scheming and twisted history, but unfortunately there wasn't much to be found outside the so-called love story. Well, unless your a fan of misogyny, toxic masulinity and hugely unlikable "heroines".

The writing style wasn't my cup of tea. Characters literally announced how they felt and a lot of plot elements were thrown in as the story required them rather than being woven through the story to establish the world. This book was very much a character and relationship-driven story, and unfortunately is where it fell apart in a major way for me.

Protagonist Belle is a brat, an idiot and a misogynist. She stomps her feet, sulks and frequently refers to other (pretty and blonde - of course!) female characters as bitches for no other reason than the fact they've slept with the guy she has the hots for. That's pretty much the extent of their characteristation, but what more reason do we need to hate each other, amiright ladies? She had zero autonomy in what was supposedly her own story, however her internal monologue had her seemingly believing she was a genuine, no-nonsense badass. If this was intentional, it could have been downright brilliant, but I suspect it wasn't. Belle is certainly written like whiny teenager, but I don't know if that was intentional or not, because werewolf king Keith is written in much the same way.

Keith (yes, that's right. The big sexy of this novel is called Keith) is a possessive, aggressive asshole who treats Belle like property and/or baggage. He stomps around declaring Belle "mine, mine, mine" like a petulant toddler who's had his favourite toy taken away, shags around behind her back (but it's okay though, because he was thinking of her the whole time!) and abuses and assaults her on the regular. At one point, he forcibly kisses her against her will, then throws her against a wall and blames her for his inability to control himself. And it's passed of as being romantic.

Seriously, HOW CAN THAT BE PRESENTED AS ROMANTIC IN 2017!? Perhaps it's just bad timing, but given the current climate and discussions around consent and women's rights, this book is downright nauseating. Add in the fact that several Big Bads all want Belle as their mate because she's so super-special, and you've got a recipe for pure rage fuel. The idea that Keith has to "mark" Belle as his before anyone can claim her, at which point all the other guys will lose interest in her, is so disgusting that it makes reading the book about as erotic as being rubbed down with a raw chicken. Their relationship, such as it is, is a mess of toxic masculinity and horrendously outdated romance tropes. The hate-love relationship switched in literally one scene which robbed the story of any anticipation and blew any attempts at making it anything more than story-ordained instalove. Some of my personal highlights of their relationships came in the following quotes;

"You do not touch anybody but me, and nobody touches you." Keith to Belle.
"Why didn't he want me?" Belle, in the middle of a life-threatening trial to discover who or what she really is, when Keith says he wants to get rid of their mate-pull
"Mine," he growled. "You are mine." Keith, channelling hs inner Christian Grey
"I will kill them all. She is mine. Only mine." Keith, on any guy who tries to get close to his property. I mean, his mate.

I personally found all this revolting and outside it there's not a lot else going on in the book. I should have known what I was letting myself in for with that title. If you're looking for a straight up romance book with a bit of a paranormal twist, you may love it, but my expectations were the other way around, which meant I was often reading bored or angry. Your mileage may vary.

Upon First Glance:

Upon first glance, I always judge a book by its cover. This rings more true for ebooks than it does physical copies. With a physical copy, I still may have picked this book up and read the back. With ebooks, I just don’t often click the cover to read the description. This book has taught me that I need to start clicking those covers. It was not what I expected, but in the best kind of way. Based on the cover, I expected it to be your typical, raunchy, paranormal romance. I do not like that type of story at all. As soon as I opened this book, I was addicted.

The action starts from the very first page. It literally starts happening in the first chapter and it only excels from there. Normally, this would be a good thing for me, but at the beginning of the book it annoyed me a little and almost had me sitting it down. Only the writing was good, the plot was good, and I was curious for answers. This is still a paranormal romance novel, however it has very few sex scenes and the ones that do occur are not very graphic and are written in a very tasteful way.

Plot Twist Galore!

One of the things I was not expecting was the many plot twist, there were at least three that had me going ‘NO WAY!’ and kept me going despite the fact that I knew I desperately needed to go to bed. I don’t want to give away many spoilers, but honestly – a good bit of the twist I did not see coming. There are two bonus chapters at the end, they are called bonus chapters – this isn’t a name I have given them. They were not what I expected to be included in this book, I figured it would come in book two. Based on how fast paced this novel is from the beginning though, I am not too surprised. There is also an alternative ending provided, which leaves you at a huge cliff hanger and wanting to dive right into book number two. I almost wish I had stopped reading after bonus chapter number two.

In Closing:

The only issue I really had with this book is I felt it was rushed. Not like in a the writing wasn’t as good as it could have been way, but I feel like the character’s could have been developed a little deeper and the plot could have been slowed down (Again, the two bonus chapters felt like they should have been a preview of the next book. Instead it felt like it was a ‘let’s skip a bit of time so I can start the next book off a good bit of a bit into the future’). I still have a lot of questions about the characters that I may never know the answers to. [One such example: Why couldn’t her adoptive pack ‘smell’ she wasn’t one of ‘them’?] The blurb that goes with this book also isn’t really correct, it lays a basic outline, but some of the things mentioned in the blurb happen way different in the real story.

It was still a really good read and I cannot wait to dive into book number two! Alena Des does have some real talent and potential. This book sucked me in, kept my attention, and I will be reading the next books in the series. A well-earned 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Well.... The story is simply awesome!! I've been reading and collecting books since at the age of six and it's not just your ordinary books, those books I've been collecting are thick and most of it are published in series.. (I'm not nerd or anything) I just simply enjoyed reading as my free time hobby...😉😉😉and I can say that I just knew the story if it's worth reading... Welllllllll this book... MATED TO THE WEREWOLF KING... is definitely worth checking out!! 😛😛 WHY???🤔🤔🤔 I started reading it in the morning and I've finished it in the evening.. 😱😱😱 I've read it non-stop... I can't put it down because I'm too carried away with the story... 😍😍(Except of course when I have to eat and do my body business). Other books when it became this long it tend to be boring buttttttttttt then again....this book is not. The story is detailed not to the point that it will became dull but it became more interesting. The characters have been introduced in an interesting manner... 😜😜 (Especially Keith I think I'm in love with him😍 and of course Bella) the story has its twist and turns. Also I do notice that this isn't like the other books that you can predicted the ending when you reach the middle but nooooooooooo.... It surprises me that I can't predicted it what will happen in the next chapter and that what it makes me more thrilled and interested. You see if you already knew what will happen next and then when you read it in the next chapter and then you found out that you're right you tend to lose your interest in reading that book... I also like on how the characters have their own POV in the story..

The title definitely suits the story. Belle although have given the chance of the moon godness to choose from her matesssssss (yes! That's plural) which happens to be the powerful leaders of each species (whoooooo hotness everywhere..😏)but she still chooses to be with Keith( awwwww) the werewolf King (I wish I am Belle 😍 I'll choose them all😉) . And I do like how she became a shy and helpless girl to a sassy feisty brave girl.. 🤗 along with her journey in discovering her past and powers. Also I did like on how she give importantance to her family even if it's means sacrificing herself to a demon.. and of course the high light of the story the scene between the two of them...... I'm definitely jealous the two of them.. I'm not giving some more hint about the story cause I don't want to spoil those who want to read this story.. let's just keep the mystery.. 😉😉😉
The story had a very good ending toooooooo(I crack up laughing 😂😂) and I'm kinda sad that's it is finished buttttttttttt I'm looking forward for the rest of it...
I really enjoyed reading this book...and I'm definitely inloveee with Keith... Hahahahaha 😂😂😂
P.S:
I have read a thousand story about werewolves and I can say this is one of the BEST😘😘 if you can't see it your dumb.😋
Dear author:
I hope to read the rest of it... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And I'm definitely counting in what u have sent me about the other booksss...
Loveeeeee lotsssssss 😘😘😘😘😘😘

This wasn't a hard sell, because I love Sci-Fi and especially Werewolf or Vampire stories. Before I get into what I like about it, let me tell you what I don't especially like. I Hate the name Belle. You can hardly find a Disney girly cartoon that doesn't have a Belle, a Vampire or Werewolf series, practically any fantasy movie even, without a belle. I don't think of a southern belle with long flowing dresses. It reminds me of a dumb bell!! Ding Dong!!! Can't anyone think of another name for a character, besides Belle? Anyway, now that that pet peeve is out of the way:

The is basically for ages 16+. I know some people are saying 18 and up, but lets be honest, a lot of 16 year olds have done more than what's in this. There's plenty of romance here and that's suggested by the title, so we knew that was coming. Unlike some of the other stellar reviews, I'm not impressed by the format this was written in. I found it somewhat convoluted. How is this story being viewed? The author should have taken the time to have had the work proofread. Punctuation aside, I think the author might have recorded herself reading the storyline. Then, played the recording back to herself. In doing so, she would have realized that there were parts that were unnecessary and parts that could be improved upon. This is a technique that would help a great many authors, who look back later and wish they'd done some things differently. Hearing the written word out loud, comes across differently. The book is longer than the storyline called for.

Annabelle is a Werewolf, who is being hunted by the Demon Lord. She comes under the protection, somewhat reluctantly of the Werewolf King. The Demon Lord demands she be turned over to him, but for what nefarious purpose? The book contains several interesting characters. The Demons and Werewolves are on the cusp of war, unless the Werewolf King turns Belle over to the Demon Lord. She's a lot more than just a werewolf and little by little, we discover that.

This is book one in Alena Des Trilogy, "King Series" There are some meat and potatoes to the story, as it's pretty good. Some steamy bedroom scenes and it ends with a cliff hanger, that opens up the juicy expectations for the next two books, in the series. So, I'm on the edge with this one. I'd recommend it for the under 25 crowd. I would like to see the author put more intricate details into her stories, cut out some redundant parts and have better editing, but the story itself is pretty good. I'd give it a 3.5, but since that's not available, I'm going with a 4 star review and forgiving some of the editing. Thank you for reading my review

All her life, Belle has been raised as the daughter of a powerful alpha werewolf and his equally powerful wife. Just as her eighteenth birthday is nearing her world is shattered when her parents finally reveal that they are not her biological parents but that she was found on the edge of the pack boundary as and infant and they have raised her and loved her no matter what, but the Demon Lord is after her. Enter the Werewolf King, who claims he will protect her, but they immediately get off on a bad note, he doesn't believe she is a werewolf and she thinks he is joking. He thinks she is a witch, and she doesn't even think such things exist, oh the sheltered world you lived in Belle. Mated to the Werewolf King is the story of discovering who Belle really is and why the Demon Lord wants her, why he thinks she is his mate, and why his twin brother thinks she is his mate, but why she feels like the Werewolf King is who she wants, after she gets past his over macho attitude. Author Alena Des has created a paranormal fantasy world of werewolfs, vampires, demons, fae, witches and more all living in the same world while a single girl has the power to upset the balance of everything without knowing it.

Mated to the Werewolf King is a complex and mutilayered family saga. We are finally able to learn the turn story of Belle's parentage, but even then there is some difficulties as in her parents were being chased and he took Belle to safety because he was injured and thinking her mother was dead, only she wasn't quite, he died from his injuries. This story is not just your typical girl meets boy, falls for boy but has to prove its real for boy to accept, this is a whole girl meets boy, boy runs from girl, girl runs from boy, boy saves girl, girl saves boy, together they save the world and finally they can be together. Author Alena Des has created a story that is complex yet feels almost natural, you can understand each point of view and why certain characters did what they did, but at the same time, there is some much going on that this is one of those books that you could probably read two or three times and catch things each time that you missed the first time around. There is some violence, its an all out battle for the world, and some sexual scenes, but pretty average for todays standards.

This reader recieved an advanced readers copy of Alana Des' first part of her series, "Mated to the Werewolf King", in exchange for an honest review. Unlike other reviewers, this reader was less than pleased with the story. While trying to overlook all of the editing issues involved with grammar, spelling, punctuation and tense errors - comma's placed willy-nilly with no rhyme or reason, incorrect usage of words in sentences like the word "old" used when clearly "older" was what was meant, skipping from present first tense to third person past tense in the same sentence, added to various continuity errors such as Keith the werewolf king "grinning for the first time in days since he lost Belle" - yet, according to the way it was written, Belle had left earlier that same day. These errors were all found within the first chapter or two.

The plot seemed interesting enough; however, Des told the story more than showed it, which tends to keep a reader away from the action taking place... not an observer to all that is happening, rather sitting and listening to what someone else has to say about whatever incident took place. And that can make a long, boring read. Editing could tighten this story considerably, allowing it to be vastly more interesting... it was wordy - like Des loved to hear her own words, whether the story needed them or not, and repetitive almost to the point of nausea for this reader.

Unfortunately, this reader was never able to develop empathy for or with any character in the tale. There were multiple points of view, written mainly as stream of consciousness inner dialogue - again, often repeating what the narrative had previously told us just seconds ago. Dialogue was stilted and flat and often just - again - repeated what the narrative had stated earlier. This reader is a strong advocate for "show don't tell" and the majority of the book was simply told... rarely, Des would insert lovely descriptors that actually showed what was happening, wanting to draw this reader in, then she'd revert back to telling the lengthy tale. Because the plot did show promise, this reader will offer three stars - but cannot recommend the book, either, due to her simply not caring for it.

Mated to the Werewolf King was an interesting read about a girl who seems to have everyone after her and no clue why. I have to say that this book threw me off a little because where I was expecting the usual werewolf romance with a tough male lead... well let's just say that this book threw me for a loop.

At first everything was exactly how I suspected it. There was a powerful werewolf king that everyone was deathly afraid of, and of course the king was after the girl from a simple pack who didn't know there was anything special about her. And of course there was something different about this girl compared to the wolves around her. There was also the childhood romance with someone she probably couldn't get (and this gets weird later on btw). Then the king comes to collect the girl because he heard others are after her and immediately fights the attraction between them. He even goes so far as to be cruel while he fights the attraction - and this is very similar to every wattpad werewolf romance online.

But then it changes. Then it gets crazy.

I have to say that this author is a master wordsmith to create something so similar to other books and then twist the usual story into a wild and unforgiving tale that had me on the edge of my seat. I kept waiting for the next shoe to drop because it seemed like everything that could go wrong would and yet it would challenge me in ways I never saw coming. So many different creatures and their stories were thrown into this one novel and they each had an interesting history that I wish I could have dipped into further. I actually thought that this book would end up a reverse harem (a new popular genre that has erupted recently) but instead there is only one chosen mate.

The only small issue I had with this book was the initial attraction Annabelle had to that childhood friend... I don't want to give spoilers to those who end up reading the novel later on, but I have to say that it seemed like one of those things that was swept under the rug of the story and I wish there was an explanation or even an admittance of that weirdness.

Otherwise the story was an adventure that I would recommend not missing on. This is not your usual king werewolf tale and I think many will enjoy those differences.

Mated to The Werewolf King by Alena Des Review
Werewolf to Be or not to Be?

When Annabelle discovers that she is not the true daughter of the Alpha in her pack, her world, as she knows it, comes crashing down and she finds herself running to hide from the tyrannical Demon Lord who is hell bent on finding her. Seeking protection, she flees to the court of the Werewolf King. She’s only a werewolf... isn't she?

What did I like? First, I must disagree with several of the reviews that I have read. I totally loved this book and I know that it needs some fine tuning but the storyline is strong and will capture the reader from the first page to the very last page and have them begging for more. This is book one of the series and leads into two more books hopefully continuing from where this left off.

What are you going to like? This does have a very strong storyline that develops more as it goes along with awesome characters. Of course, the main characters are Annabelle and the Werewolf King but the others are just as strong and there is so many of them to fall in love with. It is definitely not predictable and the action just keeps happening with so many twists you will feel that you are meeting yourself on the other end. Holding your breath due to a very precarious situation or crying out for the emotional scene that just ending. Maybe the romance with grab you, I know it did me. I don’t think that I have read a book in a while that had this much action and keep me guessing what in the world could possibly happen next. Not one thing that I could think of, would I have thought would…. Just did!!!! Humor with a touch of sadness but most of all the most unbelievable love story! Hurry up with book two, I just didn’t want this one to end. I received this from the author for an honest review with no other compensation.
