The Nexus Trilogy #2

A Quantum Uncertainty

Rate this book
A Quantum Uncertainty continues the adventures of Lauren and Alex. Alex struggles to roundup all the members of Hebridean conspiracy and isolate its leaders. Lauren prepares to become Bhean chéile agus comh-rialóir Fuar Ćala – Consort and co-ruler. But she is still plagued by nightmares since her healing and feelings of abandoning her friends in her universe continue. Their soulmate bond continues to grow as do the parallels to the Doouglas and Fraser’s relationship. Alex knows that a true partner-relationship requires each to contribute, sacrifice, grow, listen, and try to understand the other. She is willing to allow Lauren to do and go wherever she needs to heal, as long as she is by Lauren’s side.

Hi - my name is Peet and I am one of the Three Whisketeers. My Mom - Choate - ask me to introduce her. You may know us as Peet (aka Peet Den on facebook) or Peetsden (at live journal). We are avid readers of fanfiction - I like J7 but my Mom is really focused on Mirandy. She is a beta-reader for a number of wonderful authors and a member of a multitude of ff communities.
Having read and edited and enjoyed all those amazing stories, she decided to dip her toe into the author pool and write her own original story. She’s writing a science-fiction trilogy and is now a member of the Desert Palm Press family! Starbuck, Aonie and I are really excited about it. There are some really great furkids in her new book.
My Mom is a scientist by vocation and avocation but she hasn’t limited her life to science. Right now she is totally focused on road cycling (much to the amusement of my siblings and I). Why anyone would sit on a stationary trainer and ride hundreds of miles in their living room is beyond us?!
We live in the Rocky Mountains and love watching the wildlife outside our windows, reading about scientific discoveries, photography, trekking and road trips, and cooking. Mom says I’m not that big a help in the kitchen.

All right so that just happened. Sigh. Right. I loved it. Not a fan of the way it ended but I guess we'll see what happens when book 3 comes out. If her pace is the same between books 1 and 2 that means a year to wait. Aaaaaand not sure how I feel about that. Not going to re do the back of the book, anyone can read that. Loved it. Plain and simple.

I am tossed between a 4 and 5 for this one. Going with 4 for a couple reasons. That is what I gave 1 and this one is as good and progresses the story, but it is not over yet.

It took a bit for this one to grab me, compared to the 1st. But once it did I was locked in.

A wonderful continuation of the series! This book took multiple unexpected turns, all of which I greatly enjoyed. I especially loved all the additional sci-fi elements introduced here.

It is such a joy spending time with these characters and this world. Excited to read the trilogy's conclusion!

2017 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: C.A. Farlow A Quantum Uncertainty (Nexus Trilogy #2)
1) I think I would have like to have read book one of this series first #1: A Quantum Convergence to get more of the background story on Lauren and Alex. In saying this I enjoyed the read it was very interesting.
2) SciFi through the fresh eyes of a real science person! The story is well-written and reflects some cutting edge scientific applications of theories suggesed as much as a century ago. The characters are a bit self-conscious but likeable. The science is presented in a clear and compelling manner and the SciFi angles are clever and creative. The writing overall is approachable and entertaining. This is the second book in the series.
3) This book left me a bit perplexed, but this is not a bad thing by itself. I loved the first book and this one still have the unique flavour to it. The story keep being interesting and left me with enough on the table that I want to know how things ends. The only two things that could have been done a bit better for me was the difference in pov in some parts of the story and how one of the protagonists seems a bit off center in this one. Everything else is very very very good.

Watching the bond and love deepen between Alex and Lauren as they weeded up corruption in the months leading to their wedding was wonderful. Experiencing their honey moon and Lauren's reunion with her friends was also pure joy, but the stinger to lead into book 3 tore my heart from my chest as roughly as it could. I hope the finale isn't too far away.

Wow! That was good.
Now, I'm desperate for the third and final instalment of this compelling adventure.
