My thanks to the author - Mr. Prithviraj Govind Naik Desai, for the giveaway copy of this nice little book. I hereby try to share an honest review.

The Search of the Myth is a short little mystery story. Let me first start with the positive aspects – the plot is exciting and attention-grabbing. The story has three main characters – June, Emma, and Shiva, who try to unearth a long-lost treasure. The journey taken by the main characters to solve the mystery; the chain of clues/hints that leads to the treasure are well written. They keep the readers glued to the book.

Though the plot is attention-grabbing, but there are lots of flaws in the book. The most striking was poor grammar. Bad editing plagues throughout the book. I did not like the writing style of the author. Also, I felt the writer has been inspired a lot by Hollywood movies like “National Treasure”, “Indiana Jones”, etc. I felt there a lot of scope for improvement. I would love to see more books from Prithviraj. All the best for the debut writer :)

The search of the myth is the story of a treasure hunt. June is a history student in London, whose grandfather gives her a note on his death bed which could lead to a huge treasure which was hidden centuries ago. Clues to where the treaure is hidden are provided in a series of notes. There are others like the evil and powerful Mr Kvoski who are also interested in getting hold of the treasure at any cost at all, killing people who oppose recklessly. When June finds an email from a person she does not know that he has solved the mystery, she decides to meet him personally, visiting india with her friend Emma and trace the treasure. The story then tells how the different clues are decoded visiting multiple cities in India . The book has an unusual ending.

I've finished reading your book "THE SEARCH OF THE MYTH" a few days ago. I was really busy so couldn't post my review.

First of all this book is not the best book I've read over the years. But it wasn't really bad.

The characters are really good. My favourite character is Mr.Voski oh sorry Mr.Kvoski :p.

Secondly, if someone is reading this book can easily guess what's about to come except a few areas.

Thirdly, a few things were little out of place. June Fox and Shiva's marriage topic came out of nowhere.
You should've carried their love story throughout the story.

Well
lastly, this book is okay. I've mixed feelings about this book.

Suggestion: you have good writing skills. I feel that you should write more books in historical events, non fiction, and so on.

Good luck for your future works....

The book is so well written. I enjoyed the plot very much. The story is very interesting right from the page 1. Not too long nor too short. Writing style is kind of Narrative and dialogues. But that's not an issue. In fact, for me, it is more easy to read. Author has done good. Last words are just unbelievable.

The book ‘The search of the myth’ is the debut book of the Indian writer Prithviraj Desai. The cover of the book is amazing, showing a ship caught in a thunderous storm. Start of the book takes us to the year 1782, where Captain John Coxon is trying to get his ship ‘Grosvenor’ out of the storm. John Coxon who works for the king (Name not given), is assigned the task of safely bringing a big iron casket containing something valuable, from Madras to England. Seeing the storm just getting worse, captain decides to abandon the ship and tries to reach the shore in boats. On the next morning John Coxon, the sole survivor of the storm opens the casket. Casket, which they had risked their lives to save from the storm. After opening the casket he finds nothing but a piece of paper inside, with a puzzle (which is a clue for a treasure) written on it.
After first 2 chapters we are taken to the future, year 2015 in London where there are two girls Emma and June studying in London College of art. June Fox, brilliant student of history aspires to be an archeologist and treasure hunter just like her father and Grandfather. On June’s birthday celebration night, her grandpa is admitted in hospital for having a heart attack. In the hospital he gives her an envelope, taking promise from June to find it.
Till this point writing mistakes took my mind away from the book. The writing scheme of dialogues is like plays, the books lacks the character/surrounding description. English is too formal and I personally dislike the ‘too much formality’.
After the death of her grandpa, a person named Richard Kovaski threatens June and her family, for the Envelope which contains the hint for a possible treasure. Events lead June to India where she meets an archeologist Shiva, a brilliant man who helps her in finding the treasure. Shiva is incredible in the book but I expected him to be little like Robert Langdon from Dan Brown’s books. I expected Shiva to come with the answers of some clues, which were easy directly by thinking over it, instead of googling. There are many interesting events in the book like encounter of June with Mr. Kovaski, Shiva helping June with few people that he knows.
The author knows Indian historical places well. I enjoyed reading how they traveled and found clues of the treasure at different places around the country. The wording of clues is amazing and I loved how Prithviraj has written them. Kovaski’s boss who has been giving him instructions, is hidden till the end, we might get to see him in the next book. I disliked how character June was not given much scope in the book. At the start she was described as an intelligent girl but throughout the book, we don’t get to see her using much of her intelligence. Emma is childish and it is nice to have a character like that in the book. There are few plotholes, few things which don’t make sense, but overall it is ok.
Prithviraj has written a great story, I liked how he has used Indian historical places, has taken readers to different places and amazed me with his knowledge of Indian heritage sites. The story is amazing and if we ignore the writing mistakes, it is a good read.

The story has a very convincing plot and reasonably good clues. It is a trend these days in Indian writing courtesy the success of Dan Brown and Ashwin Sanghi's books to write about a treasure/secret emerging from clues. The writer does a decent job at setting the plot, incorporating riddles and different places. It also has a flavor of romance, deceit and relationships. However the greatest turn off since page one is the writing style. The writer needs to tremendously work on it because the book makes an extremely unpleasant read even for the unseasoned reader. Its a nice and light read. The language used is really simple. The story is framed cleverly around a true incident. It is a complete package. It has suspense, mystery, comedy, romance, friendship and off course treasure hunt. You begin to empathize with the protagonists. The author has done a good job given the fact that this is his first work of fiction and English is not his first language.

Blend of history with right amount of suspense and adventure.

The adventure starts with an idea of deciphering the context by the protagonist and the surrounding characters in the pages of The Search of the Myth written by Prithviraj Desai who take his readers in the historical times of the Wreck of Grosvernor, sailing ship that used to operate under East India Company in 1780s. This wreck left a secret in the hands of a survivor which was supposed to be delivered to the King of England at that time, but is kept chasing throughout the history.

Soon, the lives of two students of history in a college at London are in turmoil as they find that secret in their hands, a hurdle so dirty and bloody that both of them unknowingly agree upon to cross and reveal what was left unexplored and now a mystery for three centuries and almost similar amount of decades ago.

Since East India Company had its dwellings in South East Asia, and much more in the Indian Subcontinent making themselves the accountant for half of the world's trade for commodities including salt, cotton, silk, dye, tea and opium. After finding and deceiving a gang who are after these two girls are protagonists travel to India and with the help of local try to solve this mystery. To find what was revealed in the end, you'll have to read this book.

I think in above, I emphasised much on the storyline as I could, and trying to keep it spoiler free, I can say that I enjoyed the plot thoroughly. It starts at the a very high note that fills a reader like me, with thrill and eager to turn up the pages as fast as I can by leaving nothing behind. That said, it is a real page turner.

The book drives forward with third person narrative voice and the writer also make use of a technique that is mostly in plays and is hard or almost rare to find in contemporary fiction, irrespective of the genre. The author has used dialogue formation between the characters to drive the plot forward which is the core of its page turning or fast paced quality.

The characterisation overall is good as some of the characters are well-formed while others could have been a more in-depth to engage the readers. You never know which character becomes adorable for the reader until and unless you provide some amount of details that concern that character alone. On reading this novel, I think the protagonist is a just way of introducing the plot. This piece of fiction if more of a team work of characters rather than a single or a particular characters is worthy of receiving much of the applause as they soon are bound by the adventure they and us, the readers share. This is again not so common practiced way of writing but is enjoyable at the most and that is the exact case with this book.

The writing style is not compelling enough to match the other qualities this book possess. I do think, however, the pace of the plot and its adventurous nature overshadow that prospect.

This book is a way to go only if you interested in history or adventure or looking for a mixture of both and seeking a page turner along.

A stunning debut novel that I absolutely devoured. The writing is top class, beautiful and easy to read, yet at the same time, it doesn’t feel as if the writing has been dumbed down so that younger audiences can keep up. Let me just start off by saying that whatever I say won't do this book justice. So please just go read it yourself.

The Search of the Myth written by Prithviraj Desai is about treasure hunt. June, a history student in London receives a note from her grandfather on his death bed. This will lead her to a treasure which was hidden ages ago. But Mr Kvoski who comes in between trying to snatch the treasure note from June. Before June realises anything, Kvoski through a shootout kills her mother. June finds an email which leads her to Mumbai, India. June along with her friend Emma begin their treasure hunt along with her grandfather's follower Shiva. whether Shiva will help them to achieve their dream? Rest is the story.

This treasure hunt is all about unusual adventure story stuff: buried treasures of ancient years. It’s actually pretty decent. Good action, characters and plot. There isn’t too much I want to go into because I do feel this is such an amazing find, you really need to go out and read it for yourself.I definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s a fan of treasure hunt, suspense thriller or wants a fun, dark, and easy read. As it is, I can say that I enjoyed this book a great deal. It was easy to read, with a fascinating and mysterious story, peopled by warm and realistic characters. Very much recommended. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fairies, fantasy, for those who truly love to read for escape. I am tired of reading books filled with misery, doleful characters whose lives are a depressing burden. If you haven't forgotten how to dream or want to remember again, read The Search of the Myth.
