Okay, let me preface this review by saying that I only picked this book up for three reasons:
1.) I needed something for a mythology quest for a readalong I’m taking part in, #TheReadingQuest.
2.) This was only 115 pages.
3.) This was only 99 cents on Amazon.

The mythology behind this book is based on The Morrígan from Irish mythology. Morrígan is said to be a phantom-like banshee queen that is associated with anything war. And she is often represented by a black bird, some say crow and others say raven. There are so many different interpretations of this war goddess, and Raven’s Mark is a loose representation that does keep some major elements of the folklore.

“The Queen of the Ravens was the Celtic goddess of war. A terrifying, wrathful woman who reveled in evil. She was known as the Triad. Woman with three parts. The woman named Morgan. The Raven Shifter. The Goddess of War.”

In this story our main protagonist, Morgan, can’t really remember her past, only that her parents died when she was sixteen. She has now graduated college and her main passion is writing a story that she can’t get out of her head about five ravens. In fact, this story is what gets her accepted into New York University’s Graduate Program for the Arts, where she also has won a grant that gives her a full scholarship plus free housing for the two years.

She is ready to start her new life, and to finally finish the story that is haunting her, but once she reaches the house, or mansion I should say, she realizes that she will be also be sharing it with five super-hot guys who are all masters at different things, obviously:

Dylan - The Historian
Sam - The Photographer
Bunny - The Artist
Clinton - The Musician
Damien - The Artificer

“The five of us have known one another for eons. We’re not quite brothers, but close enough; soldiers, warriors, even a criminal or two. Assigned as guards between the worlds. For Morgan.”

I think you guys can obviously make the connection between these five hot guys and the five ravens she writes about. The story switches between Morgan and the guys’ point of view, and thus ensures a reverse harem set up, since Morgan just being inside the house has them all hot and bothered. Oh, and for the worst part of the story: Morgan is a virgin and will have to eventually choose one of these men to give that magical gift to. *throws up forever*

Also, there is no sex in this book. There is a lot of making out, and rubbing, and even a blow job, but no sex. This book is basically setting up the ground work for further installments in the series, which I won’t be reading.

I hate writing negative reviews, especially for independently published authors, but this just felt juvenile and really didn’t work for me. I love reading reverse harem books, but this one felt too forced and Morgan felt too stupid for me to enjoy. If this story sounds interesting to you, for sure give it a try, but it just fell really flat for me.

Good start to a new series. It took me a while to warm up to the heroine but I liked the guys immediately. I also liked how the author used mythology as the base of the story.

It looks like it will be fairly fast moving as the heroine accepted everything way easier than I would and she's comfortable being physical with all the guys already. I look forward to learning more about the characters past lives together and how they plan to prevent the apocalypse this time.

*I received and ARC for an honest review*

I am not a huge Greek mythology geek by any means. I wouldn’t even consider myself a mediocre Greek geek. So any and all correlation between the mythology and this book was absolutely lost on me. But it was just past 1am and I had just finished book 5 of Lawson’s Death Field’s series and I still wasn’t tired. As I went over to Amazon to purchase book 6, I noticed this one. And thought what the heck.

Not one that usually gravitates to books that have a lot of lustfulness to them, this book surprised me. Most of the time I enjoy romance and all that it entails. But lusty books? I think my fear is those books tend to have the sexy scenes drown out the actual plot. With this book, I believe the quick pace helped make this not the case. There is an actual story brewing and I liked that about it.

But the quick pace of the story is also what had me rating this book 4 stars. I felt sometimes the story was rushed and to me, the last sexy scene with a certain character just came out of nowhere. Whereas all the others seemed to build a little more. I would have loved for some of the scenes to have been drawn out more and maybe bit more history on the guys on the guys as well.

In the end, it was great, quick read. I even went to get the second book only to see it doesn’t release until tomorrow. So I am diving back into her zombie series and finally finishing that one off. I have been on such a Lawson binge this past week, and have loved every second of it. And it is easy to understand why. She is such a fantastic author with a knack for writing such amazing, tantalizing, thought provoking reads! 4 Stars!

This was an extremely short book. Took me less than two hours to read. -.-

I'm just happy there are more to read! :)

Anywho, I really liked the book. I find when I read reverse harem books, when the MC is in the dark about whatever her fate or destiny may be, I like it better when she just throws herself into the many men that she is fated to in some way. And that is exactly what happens in this first book. Although there was only a little bit of the smut I was looking for, I still really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

OH! Also, I haven't decided which guy I like best. Here's to hoping I figure that out soon! I'll definitely let everyone know in my future reviews of the next books. :D

I do love getting free books with my Kindle Unlimited and Raven's Mark was just one of them. I do enjoy a good Harem book but it kind of made me sad that it didn't have a lot of pages. I like to read books with like 300+ pages but you can't always get what you want. So I took a chance on this book and I ended up liking it.

Raven's Mark begins with Morgan, who wants to become an author, and she ends up getting a scholarship to NYU that she never applied for. Upon her arrival she meets five guys that she thinks are apart of the scholarship program...until she finally finds out what the hell is actually going on in her life. Morgan is like a banshee phantom queen thing that is associated with war and is frequently represented by a black bird. This totally corresponds with the paper she went it because it mentioned that she could talk to these 5 birds and they could talk to her.

Now upon meeting Morgan, I didn't actually like her. I thought she was pretty boring--especially with Ryan and her friends. When she met the guys I sort of started to like her character--but not as much as the guys. For the first book in the series it was a good start. It's fast paced and pretty easy to read. I don't know if I want to read the second book just yet, but who knows... If it's free on Kindle Unlimited I just might get it.

I'd like to say that the story hooked me from the start, but it didn't. It didn't grip me at the beginning. Or the middle. Or by the end. Honestly, I felt mostly bored and often confused. I did not connect with the story or the characters. Even when I found the 'mystery' behind the story, I wasn't all that impressed. The characters weren't either. For the most part it felt as though the characters did not want to be in this story any more than I wanted to read it. When something happened there was no emotional reaction from any of them, it was like they didn't feel anything at all (expect for lust, maybe. Though that did not feel all that real either).
So, yeah. Not sure I'll read any flow ups for the story.

Not the best writing and felt like there were plot holes. Some things felt made up and it skipped around alot. The heavy petting scenes were glossed over and Morgan accepted everything as it was. I wanted to read the spinoff series but i'm not sure how far I will go in this one.

This was a very quick and easy read. It didn't have very much substance and whilst I will continue with the rest of the series because of how easy it is I'm going to keep this review short.

With a book this short there is really no need for pacing or character development and we get none with this book so that's good. We also get very brief introductions into all of the characters so much so that I'm not even sure who they are or their motivations.

I did enjoy the book but it didn't really add anything to this already crowded genre of books.

2 stars not much to comment on.

Corta y entretenida.

This is a good start to a new serial. This story is based on mythology but not a common story. Most mythology romance books are built on Greek, Roman, and Norse myths. This story put on a great twist to start a compelling adventure. Raven was a difficult person for me to relate to but got better as the story went on. The guys are more relatable but you don't get too many facts on any of them. This book does move fast into accepting herself, her past, and her future. I would definitely recommend this book if you like mythology and RH.

DNF at 77% (chapter 14)
Is a short read, but the story develops too fast and too slow at the same time, like you don't get to conect with the characters and allot is happening in a sort time frame. Also, I usualy like when there is multiple pov but in this case I wish it was just Morgan's pov, atleast in the beginig, to built the suspense, IDK make us exited to lern and try to figure out what is happening.
Maybe in the future I will end this read but right now I don't think it's worth it.

It’s not often you find a book that draws you in from page 1 – well that’s exactly what Angel has accomplished with Raven’s Mark.

At the moment I’m still absorbing what I’ve just read, and re-read, whilst trying to think of a way to make this review give justice to the brilliant writing, but I think I’m coming up short.

Morgan (the Female Main Character) can’t really remember much about her past, except that her parents died when she was about 16 years old.

At present time, she has graduated college and her main passion is writing a story that she can’t get out of her head. The story is about five ravens, and their interactions and adventures with a human girl. This is the very story that gets Morgan accepted into New York University’s Graduate Program for the Arts. By pure happenstance Morgan also wins a grant, that gives her a full scholarship plus free housing for the duration of the program.

Morgan is ready to start her new life, and to finally finish the story that is haunting her. However, once she reaches the house (or mansion rather), she realizes that she will be sharing it with five super-hot guys who are each master at different art related things:

Damien - The Craftsman
Sam - The Photographer
Bunny - The Painter
Dylan - The Historian
Clinton - The Musician

The rules at the mansion are quite simple: every night, without exception, the 6 of them must have dinner together, which is great, because that makes it easier for Morgan to get to know her 5 new house mates.

Morgan continues her writing, but eventually things start seeing less like fiction and more like a distant memory.

This is the second book that has made me cry, ever. Not because it's sad, but because I was there!

description

I was in the house, with the 5-swoon worthy raven's, with Morgan. I felt her frustration, sadness and happiness as the book progresses. I felt her emotions when the veil is lifted, and we see the connection. It's hard not to let such beautiful writing affect you.

This book is a beautiful mixture of mythology and modern day, memories and imagination. I’m not familiar with the Celtic mythology so I’m really loving that I learn as I read! Lately my negative reviews have been due to the personalities of the MC, and I love that Angel is showing us different POV’s – and that she has managed to create a FMC that isn’t spoiled, entitled, rude or just annoying.

OK, I'm going to be honest. I didnt pay the utmost attention to book 1. It's short, like under 200 pages, and in my experience books that short tend to really suffer in the story development. (This one doesnt.) But it was New Years Eve, I was getting ready to party like it was 1999 (twenty years ago...sorry. I know everyone feels old now. My bad), and I wanted something I could alternate between listening to with kindle Text-to-Speech and reading to get in some last minute books to my total read count for the year (the year in review things is a problem. I don't want to talk about it) as I went about getting things done for that night, so I didn't need this to be great. I was kind of looking for something I thought I would only marginally like if I tried to immerse myself in it. That is not what I got. I'm actually a little bummed I didn't take the time to sit down and enjoy this with my full focus. The top goodreads review bashes this, but no offense, their main complaint was how dare they not be humping like Bunnies. Pun intended. You still totally get that once you get introduced to all the characters. It's hilariois. OK maybe not hilarious, it's a pun, what do you want.

Anyways, I didn't pay the closest attention to book one as I was mostly listening to it so there might be some weaknesses to the story that I miss, and they might exist for books two and three and well, but I settled into 2019 by sitting down and reading and immersing myself in books four through six and they were great, so if you are struggling with anything in the first three books likd grammar, continuing, rushed relationships, continuity, those types of things iron themselves out by book four.

Great, but what is this book about? Will I even like this? Do you like harems? You are in the right place. How do you feel about paranormal? OK this is going to sound odd about a serious focused on Raven shifters and prophecys and magic, but the paranormal element of this isn't smothering. Yes there are different realms, enhanced strength, some magic, and an apocalypse, but those isn't like, lets say Twilight for ease, where everything focuses on them being supernatural. The characters aren't shifting into their other form, and Morgan isn't working her way through shift or vampire or wir h or dragon (you get the point) hierarchy trying to adapt from her human world. Morgan is just a girl who has recently moved to NYC to attend NYU's graduate program and just happens to be involved in an apocalypse, you know how that can happen. It's kind of a nice mix between paranormal and contemporary, or at least fans who only take stories that are staunchly one or the other will be equally disappointed. How do you feel about sex? Are you a little hung up on the idea? So is Morgan. She changes her mind quickly by book two. It's little but of a stretch in how quick she moves between guys, but it is totally within plausible for the paranormal. And while you do get sex, eventually, this is not hard core this is basically a porno type of thing. When it happens, and that does eventually become.multiple times per book, it is the so wet, a checking need, throbbed, pebbling, etc that you tend to seen in romance books but it isn't laid on super thick, just some mild cringe points for cheesiness, but there should also be some point that's are ejoyabke for readers who enjoy thd interaction but don't want to feel like Larry Flint was ghost writing. Am I in an infomercial for a paranormal reverse harem book? I mean maybe, it is the wee hours of the morning as I'm writing this which explains the awfulness of this review, but there aren't any TV cameras and I've received zero compensation, so no, I think you have just fallen subject to an overly verbose book readers. You should probably just find an infomercial to watch, it would be less painful.

I did feel like there were some weaknesses that are kind of nitpicky like the scholarship that wasn't applied for that she doesn't bother to ask hey why did I get this, the fact that her admission to grads hook comes like a weekend before she has to move up and start classes. That's not how it works. If you really want to make it work that way at least have her get admitted off the wait list (which is going to put a kink in the scholarship thing) and btw she couldn't be living in her undergrad dorms after graduation. I also felt like we didn't get enough of Morgan's back story right off the bat. She does have a gaping hole in her memory, but I could have done with a chapter where she is lost in thought remembering how she ended up orphaned, finishing high school, and making it through college and surrounding herself with her small group of friends, all fit in at the beginning of books 1. Speaking of her friends, Lawson sort of creates these friends and possible boyfriend and then immediately tries to write them off as not actually friends and a guy Morgan really isn't interested in. I feel like she still could have given Morgan a group of college friends and then written them out of the picture as being busy the way people tend to drift after college rather than having Morgan give a throw away line that she doesn't really get along with people. And Ryan (her crush) would have worked much better if he was written as a guy she always flirted with and crushed hard on but he would sort of run hot and cold on her. Asking her out for drinks and maybe making out but she could never get him to actually take her in a date and hook up. And at her going away party instead of Morgan pursuing him for her v-card have her excited that she is finally getting his attention, and still extending the offer to have him come visit, and still have him non-committal and his comments and what not that true her off to him, but without the weird I know! I'll try and start a relationship with him the day before I move 12 hours away. And finally, once she gets to NYC her writing partner and the dinners seemed odd to me and I don't feel like the next six books every smoothed that out.

With that all said, you have a really interesting story that lightly touches on several different mythokogies, and I do mean lightly, at 200 pages there isn't time to get detailed on that stuff, but the characters and the story evolves nicely over the six books. I like the five guys, even if I would like to see them flushed our a little more as individuals and I would love to have the back stories on their lives and who they have been before they became the Ravens and in their time before Morgan. Morgan herself undergoes a nice transformation through the series. This is a good one to read.

***SPOILERS***
Morgan's parents died when she was 16 from a mystery "super-virus" that basically nobody knew anything about. She gets accepted into grad school and wins a grant for housing based on her essay. Her essay follow Maverick a girl who grows up in the company of 5 ravens that she communicates with. According to her psychologist, these "fairytales" are a result of her trauma over her parents death. She also has memory loss. When she arrives at her grad school house, she meets 5 men who are super respectful and caring about her. It turns out these men are to keep her (the reincarnation of the Morrigan) on the "good side." They do this by helping balance her negative emotions through intimate acts.

The guys all have unique positions within the harem. Dylan is the historian. Sam can see the future with his photography. Bunny is a visual artist, painter. Clinton is a musician. And Damien is a metal worker. Each of their gifts are special in some supernatural way. This was a very short read and I actually really liked that! It didn't drag on and on. Will be reading the next.

So Morgan has a crappy boyfriend and crappy friends, then she goes to NYU. There she has some special scholarship that has her living in some giant house with a bunch of hot guys...oh and they have to have dinner together every night as part of the scholarship. Also all of the guys are super weird with her right off the bat...why too intense and make a lot of comments that are creepy coming from a stranger. She of course sees no red flags at all and just bounces around like there's nothing strange in the whole world.

This wasn't the worst idea but I feel like there wasn't enough to build the story from. It was all show, no tell...things just happened. It just felt awkward and disjointed.
