Rear Admiral Kathryn Barnes is searching for the lost Originators who vanished over two million years in the past. If they hope to be able to defeat the Eternals, they need the scientific knowledge this group possesses.

What a great continuation

Once again Mr Weil has given us the readers a excellent book. Admiral Strong must find if there are more hidden sites where Originators are in status. But he has to fight the Eternals to save them. Looking forward to the next book.

Another great series in the Lost Fleet series,

In order to have a chance to defeat the Eternals who are a mechanical and AI enhanced super race they need the help of the Originators. But the Originators are hidden away somewhere and it's up to humanity to find them.

Super space battles and great story arc.

I’ll start out by saying that I do like these books, but they seem to be written for young adults. That’s not bad, but I’m very far removed from that age category so I need a little bit more adult writing. Oh, I’ll probably continue reading these books, but if I find something better, I’ll not be reading these. It’s been awhile since I have read a book about Fleet Admiral Jeremy Strong and the “Special Five” as they were called. Now I understand why.

This story is about the current and coming conflict with the Externals. This is a very large civilization of former Originators who took it upon themselves to enhance their bodies and minds far beyond their normal evolution. The “normal” Originators found that doing so turned these enhanced Originators into megalomaniacs! These enhanced Originators began to want to control everything and every one. It got so bad that the normal Originators broke off with these enhanced Originators and even went so far as to confine these enhanced Originators in their own star system with some kind of warp drive disruption field. The enhanced Originators started calling themselves the Eternals because they now had close to immortality. They also vowed to break free of this star system one way or another and then conquer everything.

Well, the Eternals have keep their promise. They did manage to break out of their star system and have been increasing their empire over the last two million years. They now have something in the order of a thousand star systems under their control. They have just not began wondering what happened to the original Originators and have decided they need to find and secure one of the Dyson Spheres which were the home of the initial Originators. Except now, the Dyson Spheres were the home of four races, the surviving Originators and their AIs, the Altons, Carethians and the Humans. They were not going to find the capture of a Dyson Sphere an easy task.

So, this is about the fighting between the good guys and the bad guys. It seems that the bad guys have a lot more starships than the good guys, but the good guys always seem to win or come out ahead. Fleet Admiral Strong and his people have developed some very strong weapons that the Externals didn’t know about, but they learn quickly that they cannot just throw thousands of starships against a fortified Human controlled target. They lose a lot of ships that way.

Then there’s the fleet Admiral Barns is leading whose objective is to find the lost Originators. They know from previous encounters with an Originator battleship, that other Originators have hidden until such time as a cure for a sickness they came down with can be found. Well, Jeremy’s people have the cure now they have to find the Originators no matter how few still may be alive. You’re in for a surprise when these lost Originators are actually found.

This book was pretty good. A lot of starship fighting. The only drawback was the editing. There were a lot of strange sentences with stuff repeated over and over. I don’t know how many times Jermey and his wife discussed the building of an exploration vessel, but it must have been repeated twenty times throughout the book. Also, the Externals seem to have to remind themselves that they are the superior race and should dominate all others. I think they also forget who they are because they are always saying, “We are the Etermals”! These books get longer just by repeating conversations that were just held in the last chapters. It’s very annoying!

Before you start this book, please note while this is touted as the second book of the series it is really a new chapter of a continuing thread – you will need to have started at the beginning and read them all the way through or this one won’t make much sense to you: I would start with Moon Wreck: First Contact (Moon Wreck series Book 1) and read each of them in order.

This installment continues where the previous book ended, with more action scenes but more of setting the foundation for this new thread. As is usual with other books in the series, the author has a writing style that makes you have a hard time putting it down and I stayed up really late one night to finish it. I’m ready for the next installment of the series which, according to the author’s end notes will be the conclusion of the series.

I picked this up for $3.99 and I certainly received more than $3.99 worth of entertainment value out of this one. If you enjoyed the other books of the series I imagine you will like this one, also.

Way too predictable, and regardless of the situation the hero/s will always triumph.

This book was mind numbingly boring and far to predictable. It is also the last book in this series that I will ever attempt to read as the story line has ceased to be plausible to me given that the externals has been on a war footing for over two million years and in my mind wars drive research and development of new weapons technologies yet still the ai's of the originators has still better tech. Bullshit. Why can't any of the main characters be killed in combat? Why sacrifice over 63 ships and their crews to save grayseth and his crew of less than twenty lives. We're their livers more valuable than the others lost in saving theirs. This book reads too much like a daytime soap opera. There is very little imagination and creative writing here.

Almost Final Chapter: Does Not End Here

Raymond Weil has outdone himself with this chapter of a story spanning thousands of galaxies. Human forces, joined by their Alton, Bear and Originator allies have found another evil race (Eternals) attempting to conquer the universe and enslave the races they don't destroy.

Meanwhile the "Special Five" are about to have another special group as their own children are about to be born.

I really enjoyed this episode, but the numbers of ships in the fleets are mind-numbing. Millions of enemy ships are calculated to exist in the galaxies already enslaved by the "Eternals".

RECOMMENDED AS: MILITARY, FLEET-BASED SPACE OPERA.

Disppointing Overall, But Good In Places

I've read many books better than this book. The depth of character development is lacking and the prescence of the book is missing. When I read a good book I feel like I'm part of the story. That element is missing from this book. I found it easy to set this book aside. I've rehad thousands of books, but unfortunately this book seemed to just plod along. This author has written numerous other books so I'll read another of his books to determine if this book is just a book I didn't like or if I just don't care for this author's style.

A Rescue mission to an Eternal held galaxy, A fight to defend a Shrieel on the border of an Eternal Galaxy, and a mission to find the lost hiding place of sleeping Originators in statis

Lots of page turning action hard to put down. Admiral Jeremy Strong discovers there are survivors of his first battle with the Eternals and returns to rescue Grayseth in the Median Galaxy triggering the Eternals in turn to their attention to Originator Shrieel on the border of the X-939 Galaxy.

The impossible takes a bit longer don'cha know!

Not every assignment was difficult. This one! It verged on the impossible when the would be conquerors came calling. It's difficult to run off to safe spaces when 12 million sleeping newly found folks are depending on you & yours!

Once again, a fine piece of Space Opera

No disappointment. A nonstop read. Nice continuation of a nice series. It'll be interesting to see how the Writer gets a solid ending to this series in a third book.

A very good pace to this one! A significant foe threatens all. Humanity prepares to defend with help from the originators. But even the originators may not be able to help defend against an old foe from their past.

Raymond L. Weil delivers again.

The Anti-life, supposedly the strongest most intelligent being in all the galaxies get taken to the woodshed by fleet Admiral Strong.

The story continues in this second installment in The Originator Wars series. It is a quite straightforward story. There are no huge (or even moderately large) plot twists or surprises. Well the Eternals are in for a surprise or two but not the readers. Some readers may find this a bad thing. I am not too bothered by it. I actually prefer it in favor of books that overdoes it with twists and surprises in every other paragraph.

The book plays out much as the military campaign it is which means that there are plenty of fleet action which is something that I definitely do like. Raymond L. Weil is quite good at depicting fleet vs fleet and ship to ship combat, strategy and tactics.

In parallell to the action part of the story we have the search for the lost Originators. While perhaps less spectacular than the fleets of ships slugging it out the success of this mission is of no lesser importance.

The usual heroes and villains are around of course and the author allows us to follow both sides in their fortunes and misfortunes. I so do like when the Eternal behinds gets solidly kicked by the “inferior humans”.

This type of book is quite my cup of tea. You could almost call it my staple diet when it comes to science fiction. It is maybe not quite up to the level of works by authors like Doug Dandridge or David Weber (at least when the latter keeps the verbosity down a notch) but it is good and solid military science fiction with plenty of action and good characters.

At the time of writing of this I have actually already read the third installment so stay tuned…a review of that one is in the pipeline.

It's painfully Anglo-centric with little thought to present a diverse human population in the face of such a threat.

it has a weak plot and the writing isn't stellar. The human race being represented by the USA keeps being repeated by certain writers and it is really tired. I can imagine them claiming they can't write Asians, Africans or South Americans. Why not, I say.
