Deep breathes...
Seriously I had to digest the story before I could write this review. It was a very overwhelming book in such a good way. Bethany is a slow hot burn that just sucks you in one whiplash after another.

Parts of me really connected with Bethany as a person. I loved how she had insecurities but ultimately didn’t let them detract from who she was.
Rich is everything that Bethany is (clears throat...minus the Submissive part) and add on one h@ll of a Dominant Alpha Male. He has such a big, caring heart and 99.9% of the time is thinking of everyone else’s well being before his own. My heart swooned at one part in the book where he took care of Bethany in such a sweet and caring way (gotta read the book to find out). I think at that point in the book it solidified my love for the man.
This book contains BDSM and damn if the scenes aren’t beautiful, intense and emotionally draining to read. You can feel the love and devotion and trust that both Rich and Bethany have with each other.
Bethany is raw. It is explicit. It is no holds bar. Lucas Black takes you down a path of really no return. You seriously can’t help but get all hot and bothered scene after scene after scene. Like I said previously a very intense, emotionally draining book. I had to step away from it to digest what just happened and then pick it back up.
Lucas Black, you slowly killed me with Bethany. I can’t express how much I truly loved it. Can’t wait to read more by Lucas. I am hooked.

Lucas X Black has done it again. He's written a book I could rarely put down and will read again and again as time passes. I spent a couple of very late nights reading until my eyes simply refused to remain open. It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me want to throw my kindle into the wall. (I'm so glad I didn't though or I'd never have been able to finish the book.)
The girl: I absolutely adored Bethany from her mischievous ways to her insecurities. She was one of the most "real" characters I've encountered in the books I've read. She wasn't perfect. She wasn't skinny. She wasn't super model sexy. She wasn't what you expected when the story began. At first I thought she was bold, daring and extremely confident in herself but you realize that she's not as confident as you first believe. She's looking for something in life but not truly knowing what it is. She wants to try to be in Rich's life but doesn't see her self as being enough for him, especially after meeting his ex girlfriend for the first time. That's when her insecurities really come into play.
The man: Rich didn't know what he was getting into when he first hired Bethany to deep clean his home while he was away. He thought nothing of it until his alarm went off on his phone informing him that Bethany was in an area of the house that was definitely off limits, his dungeon. He's both furious and aroused at his intrusion and watches it unfold on his phone. His house has cameras throughout and are tripped by sensors. Now he needs to decide how to handle her intrusion when he gets home from his business trip. Call the cops or strap her down and whip her properly?
The ex: I don't think I have ever hated a character in a book as much as I hated Laura. She is a constant threat to this new relationship between Rich and Bethany and she seems to never go away. She's over confident, super sexy, with a body every girl wants and definitely is nothing like Bethany. The sad part is that not only does Laura know this but Bethany knows as well. Laura has come back to town and she wants Rich back in a bad way.
There were times I was in tears because I felt so bad for Bethany and how she sees herself. Other times I just wanted to throat punch Laura and kick her down a hill. (I'm really not a violent person here.) And yet other times I wanted to slap Rich for being way too nice and inadvertently causing Bethany to feel insecure because of Laura. Luckily for him Bethany is truly a very nice person and forgives easily but can they last with the constant threat of Laura popping into their lives causing more problems?
You really need to read this book. It's more than just a BDSM story. Yes the scenes are very hot and steamy and definitely get a girl going but there's such a strong heart and a lot of love behind this story which makes it such an amazing read. All of the characters play their own role so well that it makes you wonder exactly how this will all end and who will come out the winner and who will just get hurt. I'm definitely excited for Mr. Black's next book as he has rapidly become one of my mandatory one click authors.

Deep emotional love and respect
This is the third book I have read by Lucas X . Black and I will say he has a talent for writing a relatable story. He has a way with words. You feel you are in a world you truly can envision around you.
I have read a handful of BDSM books and each one gives me a look at a lifestyle I am unfamiliar with. But to me, although this is considered a lifestyle choice I think it should be thought of as more of just a life choice. We all choose the way we want to love our lives to make us happy. This is what makes them happy and they make choice. So I love how this has opened my eyes to see that people are people. We all chose our paths in life and we surround ourselves with like people.
This book about Bethany was eye opening. you watch a woman who is 26 develop and grow into a more secure woman. Bethany who has a low self-esteem, one I can relate to myself, grows so much throughout this book. Bethany meets Rich and they take a very slow burn path to love. They love each other and if anything I almost feel more deeply in some level. Rich and Bethany have such a deep love and respect for each other. They love and care for others within their circle and they protect and will do anything for the ones they love. I enjoyed all the characters who are in their lives.
Rich, much older than Bethany, brings I feel a whole other look at life to Bethany and teaches her so much and I feel she teaches him some too.

Wow, another hit by Lucas X Black! Bethany was hired to clean Rich's house. When she meets Rich she suspects that He is a Dominant, but has never met one even though she has a strong desire to be owned - to be a slave. She has always self flogged or denied herself orgasms as punishment.
When she is cleaning his office she finds a door that is locked, but she can't help herself. She has to know what is behind this door. To see if what she suspects is true. She removes the door from it's hinges and goes upstairs to find Rich's personal dungeon. She is in awe, but feels guilty for being nosy. She removes her clothes and flogs herself. Denying herself release. She then cleans up replaces the door and finishes her work. Not realizing with his security system that he saw the whole thing.
When he comes home, before he can confront her, she admits everything. Asking to be used, to become his slave for her wrong doing. This leads to Love and many adventures. I highly recommend if you like reading about the BDSM lifestyle.

Another phenomenal tale from Lucas Black. I love this book and how his characters can be so relatable. He gives you a glimpse at these characters and throughout the story you can see them grow and change. I was able to relate to Bethany, like many others can, in that I have similar insecurities that make me question things. I teared up a few times, laughed, and learned a little bit more. Lucas has some witty humor that you can see sprinkled through the story and some of his slangs and terms will leave you laughing but it just adds to his characters, all while leaving his signature mark. There are some scorchingly intense scenes that leave you hot and bothered wanting a fan and an ice bath, but there is so much more depth to the story. You become invested in these characters wanting to know what will happen, will they get what they want, will they be happy. Lucas has definitely become one of my favorite one-click authors.

There is real life, humor and if you are paying attention, tid bits of information all throughout his books. I'm always shaking my head and thinking, how does he know this stuff? This might be my favorite Lucas story, because it is the one I can relate most to in real life. I love how in love Rich is with Bethany. I love how some characters that we have met in Lucas' other novels play important roles in this one. I love how much compassion Rich shows everyone in need and most of all I love how steaming hot this story was to read! Also always read his prologue because they are so wicked funny!

A fantastic book
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, the main characters of Rich and Bethany are so well matched and the love that develops between them leaps of the page and in to your heart. The relationship between Rich and his ex Laura is harder to understand, she came back expecting to just take up again but Rich had moved on. I loved all the characters they collected and became their own little community of like minded kinksters. I've laughed at Lucas's sense of humour threaded through out, I've got angry , I've had tears , needed to fan myself with some scenes ...scorching hot and feel like I have a better understanding of how Master/slave relationships work, so it was educational too

Returning home after doing work, he knew Bethany would arrive soon he had an idea, but Bethany surprised him by confessing what she’d done, offering her complete surrender for him to do what he wants with her and punish her how he sees fit.
Bethany doesn’t think someone like Rich would want someone like her with major self-esteem issues, which only increase when Rich’s ex turns up. They have their ups and downs as you take the journey of the slow burn while they learn about each other and grow and develop their relationship. A definite must read.

Finally love
We can meet the love of our life anywhere and any how. A woman coming to clean your house? You never know and kink can be in anyone. Rich found that in Bethany. She satisfied his every desire and then some. But life throws curves and monkey wrenches but the road continues. Old girlfriends who are exes for a reason and new friends in the world of kink. Old friends joined in for a good time and lend a hand to help.New friends and new pass times. We had a death and we had weddings and of course babies. we had characters from other books that Lucas has written and it was good they joined this story.I know Rich has a heart of gold.

I have to say this book cover does not begin to give credit to the story. Bethany is this strong, fierce, independent and broken woman. She has been hurt so much in the past that she doesn't see her worthiness. Is worthiness a word?? I am meaning to say Bethany's self confidence is very low. I can really relate to her as I have been in her position. So, her story really hit home. By purely being nosey and curious, I would have been wondering too where that door went. That door happens to open her to so much more than you can imagine. There's a few realizations and tests of her belief in herself along this hot steamy ride. Be prepared for a wild and fun ride!

A must read!
I have been not so patiently waiting to read Bethany by the talented Lucas Black for a while, and now that I have, I was not disappointed! Lucas has a talent for creating amazing characters to go along with an amazing storyline. We also got cameos from some of his well loved characters from his other books. Bethany is a must read, you may need a fan to cool you down!

It is rare for me to be so emotionally invested in a book. This one however hit very close to home for me. I know how Bethany felt about herself. I understand her longing and needs. This is a book that will make you cry as often as you laugh. It draws you in, immerses you in a bit of the lifestyle. You see the human in the kink. It is an exceptional book!

Bethany – Lucas X. Black
Bethany is my first Lucas Black book and I don’t think it will be my last. I don’t know exactly what I expected but what I got was a great story. Yes, obviously I knew that there would be BDSM scenes in the book, but they were part and parcel of what was a great story!
Rich and Bethany, two people who may not have ever noticed each other yet ended up together in a strange but maybe not so strange kind of way.
I loved the ease of the story, easy to start, easy to keep up with…just easy. Lucas Black has a heck of a way of telling a story that keeps the reader intrigued and as each event happens, they make the story stronger. I also have to say I much enjoyed the underlying whit and humor that is peppered throughout.
This was a 5 star read for me for sure~

OMG...I have a book hangover...I have just finished reading Bethany. I instantly fell in love with Bethany, and want to know where the hell I can find a Richard of my own. Must admit to taking an instant dislike to Laura, but warmed up to her as the story unfolded. And I am doing a happy dance that some characters I absolutely love and adore made an appearance. This story had me smiling, grimacing a little in sympathy, envious, and at times a little sad, but ultimately happy. I found it hard to put down to get a little shuteye, wanting to turn the pages to see where the story took me, over and over. I highly recommend this book.
