Grant Morrison has been working with DC Comics for twenty five years, after beginning their American comics career with acclaimed runs on ANIMAL MAN and DOOM PATROL. Since then they have written such best-selling series as JLA, BATMAN and New X-Men, as well as such creator-owned works as THE INVISIBLES, SEAGUY, THE FILTH, WE3 and JOE THE BARBARIAN. In addition to expanding the DC Universe through titles ranging from the Eisner Award-winning SEVEN SOLDIERS and ALL-STAR SUPERMAN to the reality-shattering epic of FINAL CRISIS, they have also reinvented the worlds of the Dark Knight Detective in BATMAN AND ROBIN and BATMAN, INCORPORATED and the Man of Steel in The New 52 ACTION COMICS.

In their secret identity, Morrison is a "counterculture" spokesperson, a musician, an award-winning playwright and a chaos magician. They are also the author of the New York Times bestseller Supergods, a groundbreaking psycho-historic mapping of the superhero as a cultural organism. They divide their time between their homes in Los Angeles and Scotland.

Good grief, isn’t this meant to be a kids comic?! Not that I’m complaining. This is an epic tragedy of horrendous world-destroying and noble self-sacrifice. The Mamba tape is heart-wrenching and the whole thing frankly leaves me a blubbering mess. Thank god for Zenith’s snarkiness to lighten the tone. Points to Morrison.

This was great. Now, if only someone can scan and post book 5, or gimme the $75-$400 it'll take to buy book 5, and then if that same or different someone can lend Morrison & Yeowell a hand in fighting the assorted legal hang-ups stopping this book from being finished/affordably reprinted, that would be just that much greater.

The point is, this is my favorite volume so far, and it ends on a cliffhanger, which is a total bummer. I got the first 4 books for about a total of $20, and like I said above, It could've cost me almost 100 times that much. It was my first foray into the 2000AD world of weekly, 2-6 pg episodes, but I thought it worked well. Super-cool. What was going on in the second half of the 1980's that made comics so incredible?

Best volume so far, maximan had this galactus like size and unpredictability and it will be until book 5 to find out if he is a world eater or a world saver. So creepy with the blindness and the bigmind, possibly lliogor hosting presence, and obvious omnipotence brooding below the surface. This is all cast in relation to zenith's own characterisation- is it heroism hidden beneath layers of douchebaggery, or douchebaggery hidden under a layer of douchebaggery. Finally understand a way in which zenith works as a critique in relation to superhumans like maggie t and morrissey
