Life is unexpected in every sense. We did not expect to be born and we do not expect to be able to predict the path our lives will take. That’s what makes it exciting. Why So Twisted is an anthology of 12 contemporary short stories which carry simple and enjoyable themes, but which all have an innate ability to excite and surprise the reader with the unpredictability of their ending. This anthology features the already popular story, “Flirting”, in which you will find a woman who nonchalantly flirts with many men, while “The Pursuit” follows a man who is destined to become a top photographer whereas “Crossing The Line” introduces you to the internal struggle of a married man who is about to hook up. But nothing is as straight as it looks because it's not always about the first impressions! These short stories are quick reads. Sometimes it's the protagonist's clever mind, at times it’s his kind heart, other times it's the heartless destiny or occasionally it's the writing style, which brings the fascinating metamorphosis of the plot and will lead you to ask the question, Why So Twisted?
The title is unique and so is the punch line "It's not always about the first Impressions!" which catches your attention here! The book cover has a striking font and a distinctive design which will make you pick it up to check out for sure!
The book is a collection of 12 short stories where every one is very different from other which is the best part here. I am always impressed by authors who get into short stories because to me it is far more challenging than a novel. The writing of short stories is more philosophical, requiring first a sound idea and a brave concept to execute in limited words which is an art. It is more like describing the big world through a small window which makes me wonder how they do it every time i read one! The demands the shorty story makes are of a different sort which again is clearly visible in this book.
Cheers to the debutant author who has come out with flying color here; we will definitely see more of him in coming days!
Why so twisted is a collection of 12 short stories, the central theme being the uncertainty of events in life. All the stories deal with matters of the heart and try to convey the fact that sometimes life is not easy as it looks. Not every Romance is a fairy tale Romance.
The plots are a mixture of unique and been-there-read-that. Mostly unique and unpredictable. A wide range of events has been captured through these stories. There are stories about naive love and old love. Stories about the twists in the lives of married people or people who were destined to meet someday.
The writing style is fairly simple and the plot continues to be a faced-paced one. Few chapters are easier to follow as compared to others, but the overall twist is clear by the end. Suspense has been maintained quite well in most of the plots, whereas few of them are fairly simple.
My favorite of all the stories would be The Pursuit, A Repechage Love Story, An Old Lover, and A Second Date.
The pursuit is about dreams. The plot is pretty intense and devastating. Certain dreams come with an expiry date. Life has a strange way of mocking at us.
A Repechage Love Story talks about infidelity at its best. ‘The things we do for love’. It surprises you slowly and then all at once.
An Old Lover is the about fierce love and about the belief that there’s only one kind of person one can fall in love with. It also deals with social norms that are followed without any logic.
A Second Date is about two people who don’t want to get married. They play a very interesting game and the outcome is supposed to decide their fate.
These stories touched my heart a little bit more than the rest. The writing is difficult to understand at times but all works out at the end.
Overall, this a happy ride through the different scenarios life puts people through. Witty and decently intense. This book is great for people looking for relaxing yet thrilling read over a cup of coffee.
I loved the title and cover of the book. Why so twisted is a collection of short stories themed as it's not always about the first impressions! there's a lot more than it. It deals with the matter of hearts and tells life is not as good as first impressions are. It's all about twists that happen in everyone's life and how they face them all. The plots are a mixture of some unique, different and amazing stories. The writing style is simple and interest's reader. It keeps the reader engaged. The pace of the book is also good. The book is full of romance, suspense, love, pursuing dreams and much more. I loved A Second Date chapter so much. It's so interesting. The author has written very well. Totally Impressed with it. Use of simple language keeps it more engaging. Amazing plot, Interesting characters, awesome narration and one simple message- It's not always about first impressions. I really enjoyed it, It's a light heart, witty read with full of twists. I recommend everyone to read these amazing stories.

I liked quiet a few stories, Flirting which was author’s first story and was published in 2012 by Penguin India. Another favorite is A Repechage Love story which shows how people can go to extend for loving someone *loving first love* Diwali bonus, takes you in mind of people of a family when a bonus comes.
The Results, gave me goosebumps. The story of every student, who has to go under pressure of performing good in exams. Made me cry.
My most favorite is A Second Date, it kept me wishing a happy ending to this, be a happy end. It’s story about two people who get arranged for a marriage, but instead they play an interesting game and let the fate decide the end.
What I liked about this book was that it was not what I expected it to be. There was more to it Than I could imagine. Ending left you surprised. Overall a very nice Book with great stories and nicely written ( and simple language) but at the same point it was definitely not something I would read again and again and again. So I guess 3 stars is a enough for this book!
Enjoyed it. Stories are light hearted and fast paced. Plots are interesting too. Though I won this book as a part of the contest, I don't mind paying Rs.175 to this book. The author has amazing control over his plots and he uses the simple narration techniques. Anyone can pick it up and enjoy. I deducted one star because some stories have bollywood influence on it but inspite of that the plots are endearing. I will read more from this author.
His promotion techniques are good too where he offers free sample stories in vinayakwrites.in

Vinayak Nadkarni kudos, I enjoyed every single story of your novel "Why So twisted?" They made me happy, sad, laugh my heart out and sometimes left me completely awestruck. They were all twisted beyond imagination and that was impressive. I wish to read more of your work.
My favourite story will always be "Flirting", but I genuinely enjoyed "Help, Always" a lot. Loved all the stories though.
Please make a movie on "Help, Always", would love to see it on screen :)
I won a copy of this book through a contest. I was skeptical about the independently published, first time author. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the book. Book cover is definitely attractive and the writer's style is very competitive. Well, I completed the book in 2 sittings. Every story is carefully crafted with attention to details. I would recommend it.

Was linked to this piece of writing by a friend. Firstly, I would like to say that this is a not-so-long publication. The author seems to have done a lot of effort in presenting his work in a condensed format. Although it appears that each of the stories can probably stand on its own, each of the short stories are enjoyable and did leave a smile on my face. The format fits well with the type of content.
The work is witty, energetic and contemporary. I did enjoy each of the twists that came along and would definitely recommend all the readers i know to spend time with this publication. Will be worth it. I hope the writer takes my suggestion and converts a few of the shorter stories into bigger stories or plays.
Why So Twisted? is a collection of twelve stories revolving around the theme that life is unpredictable and anything can happen at any moment which makes them very much realistic. All the stories are very beautifully penned down in a simple and clear way and some of them are heartbreaking, emotional and some are witty. The book is fast paced and very engaging and each story conveys a beautiful message about life. As the name of the book, the stories are full of suspense and are itself full of twists and turns. The author has conveyed a lot through these short stories. Let's dig into the stories a bit :
1. Flirting was first published by Penguin India in the bestselling anthology Love Stories That Touched My Heart. This story revolves around a woman who flirts with many men but the reason behind it is totally unbelievable. 2. The Pursuit is about a man who is destined to become a top photographer but life takes him somewhere else. 3. The Repechage Love Story deals with the extent to which a person can do just for his love. 4. Diwali Bonus is a very heartwarming story about a family who thinks how to utilize the diwali bonus. 5. The Other Interest is a really engaging story about a newly married couple on honeymoon and how the wife discovers the husband's other interests. 6. An Old Lover revolves around the meeting of childhood friends after a long time. 7. Crossing The Line is about a couple who married but are not in love but something unexpected happens. 8. The Results shows the reality of a student's life who is not so good in academics. 9. Help, Anyway is about what a person gets by helping someone and how the people look at it. 10. The Reality Check shows that people make a lot of rules, laws and put up their opinions but what happens when the situation falls in their own family? 11. A Second Date is a blissful read about two people who don't want to marry but end up playing a game which is very unique. 12. Kind Stranger is about a person who has lost his belongings in an unknown country and a person comes to his rescue.
All the stories makes the reader stick to them and it is a delight to read each one of them. The title of the book is very well justified. The story which I loved is A Second Date. I recommend this book to each and every person. It gives us the taste of life and it made me think about why life is so so unexpected? A marvelous work done by the author. And being a lover of short stories I loved this book a lot and is one of the book which I will read again and again.
Given away a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Right up my favourite genre of short stories with a twist. Allows a lot of room for creativity and witticism which the author has been able to bring about. Like a game of darts, you hit the bulls eye, sometimes you don't but you do notch up points. I love the plot setting, and even though you know a twist is expected, you are not sure which way and in quite a few cases, the author does catch you unawares. Set in an Indian context made it all the more relatable and whilst quite a few stories hit the love genre, doesn't fall in the burst of lovey dovey stories we have been seeing in the local scene. Hence a fresh change there.
Flirting, A Repechage Love Story, An Old Lover and Kind Stranger stood out for me. I feel one challenge we tend to miss out in these short stories is character development. In certain cases, the author does do the same but misses out on many others but a promising start!
The things with stories with a twist is you need the reader to settle into the comfort zone of how the story is headed. My analogy would be - you hear your cook making roti sabzi in the kitchen and when he/she walks in, its pizza. Instead some of the stories, maggi was being prepared and out came pasta. Pleasantly surprisingly but I wasnt completely settled in to be taken out of my comfort zone .
