Marlo Malone finds her own and the other inhabitants of tiny Godfrey, Washington, rocked by a series of terrifying events--a brutal murder, a series of a fatal accidents, and the disappearance of a young boy from the scene of the car crash that killed his parents--and believes that one of the men she knows could somehow be involved. Original.
Spence has recently lost his sister, brother-in-law and nephew in a car accident and his mother, in another accident at home. He blames himself for not being there, not being able to protect them, not preventing their deaths and so, he has left his banker job in Seattle to move back to their little town. He now plays guide, organizes camping trips and search for the remains of his nephew for closure.
Then, there's Marlo Malone who's a psychic, but refuses to acknowledge her gifts. She and Spence have a past, but she's put it behind. She's also gone through a painful marriage and divorce and now, takes refure in her work. All she wants is peace and normalcy... However, lately, everytimes she sees the color red through glass, it makes her think of Cody, Spence's nephew, along with a feeling of anger that frightens her... She also believes that the accidents that took away Spence's sister and mother's lives weren't accidents...
Okay, I thought this book could have been way better, but instead, no. First, I got annoyed at Marlo. She's psychics... perhaps acknowledging her gifts would have helped her feel better. It also makes me mad that she can sense things, know things, but decides to remain passive. I mean, perhaps she could have prevented those events from happening and that would have save her some guilt trips. But no... then, there's this relationship between her and Spence. Oh man, annoying. It completely lost me. Spence and Marlo have a painful past together and I guess that the only person who truly knows Marlo is Spence... he can edge her, get a reaction out of her... he wasn't by her side in the past and so he thinks that he's worthless now and tries to keep away from her, but at the same time, he always, always comes back, edging her more. Like I say, completely annoying. Hey, if you love her, you have two choices: woo her or go away and let her have a better life if you think that's what she'll have. Instead, he comes over and over and just ruins everything. The intrigue wasn't so enjoyable either. Instead, I just kept getting mixed up... the timeline and flow of the story were difficult to follow in my opinion. One minute, this was happening, the other minute, something totally unrelated and it kept going and going. So yeah, didn't enjoy it.

A damsels in distress...steamy love scenes… murder & mayhem… a twist of the paranormal….what more could you ask for? The book also has more than a few unpredictable surprises. I can’t imagine why the book received such low ratings but I guess we can’t all like the same things and our expectations are sometimes vastly different. I will admit that the plot is slow starting, but about halfway through the book it picks up speed and from there on the story line never slows down until the final altercation. The key characters…. especially the lead couple… also take their time fleshing out that nicely provides the reader to gain insight deep into the minds of Spence and Marlo. Well worth 3 stars.

I was not taken with this book at all. The book was half done before I could garner any liking or interest for any of the characters and the ending was just kind of dropped in your lap to wrap things up. Some things were obvious from the beginning of the book, to the point where I had to force myself to finish reading it.
Wow! Another great story by Cait. I really like the way she blends characters with the story. She throws in surprises in the plot. I'm really hooked on her books now.
I finished it because I hate to leave books half-read, but it was pretty much a waste of time. For a beach / balcony read it's "good enought". Annoying characters and their physical traits kept changing: "golden eyes", then "dark eyes", "petite" and then "long legs". Flat characters I didn't really care about.
About half the pages were weird soft-porn "love" scenes that didn't add much to the plot. Even the "terrible secret" at the end was like, eh, whatever. A few twists, but a really sappy ending.
Not quite a waste of paper, but about as well written as Encylopedia Brown.
8. Now that you are this far into the story, what do you look forward to learning next? What conflicts or problems do you think the characters will face? What qualities of your character (honest, loyal, cruel, dishonest, angry, vengeful.) will affect how the character handles the problems and conflicts he or she encounters? Now that I’m this far into the story, I look forward to learning next what will happen with Marlo Malone when she always feels the presence of Cody who three-year-old disappeared in the accident with his parents. I think she will have problem with her special sensation. The relationships between Marlo and Keith Royston, Spence Gerhard can cause a lot of troubles for her. Marlo is a good woman with many nice personalities. She is kind, honest and a good friend with many people. Her unclear relationships with two men make her confuse about herself and maybe these men, they can cause her many troubles. Marlo’s sensation can help her discover the accident happened to Cody. Moreover, she feel that Keith is holding dark secret and she thinks something bad can happen again. I think the relationship between Spence Marlo will help and protect her. 10. As you read today, what surprised you? Explain how this will affect the story or how it changed your thinking about the story. I was surprised by Marlo’s sensation. She has had a special sensation when she was nineteen. Her sensation shows her know when people die. I thinks it will help her find out what was happens to Cody and his parents and who was killed them. She can see Cody in her mind, maybe next time she can see his parents and find out many interesting details in this story.

As usual, London mixes disturbing secrets with strong, fascinating characters to create books with intrigue, anticipation, and apprehension. Searing sexual tension adds to the already combustible stories. Cait London's romantic suspense books will leave you on the edge of your seat and wondering what mysteries are hidden in your community.
