Second Time Around - a review by Rosemary Kenny

In Second Time Around, (T S Sharp's second book in The Circle of Love series), the main protagonists are the same, but many of the characters from book 1 have gone awol and mysteriously, Gabriel has changed careers from being a businessman to suddenly become a doctor, with no explanation. The grammar is less than satisfactory in a number of places, that should have been better edited. Also, despite Gabriel's surname being Robinson, mysteriously his parents' is Walters! Finally the POV/narrator is changing frequently and the novel would benefit from chapter headings to indicate clearly who that was.

Apart from these petty complaints, that could be corrected for a more enjoyable and cohesive whole, the overall effect was generally most pleasant and the plot was plausible, giving the reader a vested interest in completing Monica and Gabriel's story (the ending is sadly not as good as it could be either), ready for a potential sequel.

To summarise, Second Time Around, along with the previous 'episode' that began this series, centres around the chance meeting, six years on, from when the newly pregnant Monica was scared off by family interference and a malicious so-called friend's actions, from revealing his impending fatherhood to Gabriel and the subsequent events. My advice is to either read Book 1 and Book 2 together, or to read Book 2 as a stand-alone novel, to prevent possible disappointment. Hopefully Book 3 (if any) will restore the first book's potential, hence my 3 star rating.

A bit rough, but potential to be great

The premise behind the story is a good one, but there were problems with the execution. The hero changed career paths between book 1 and 2. Him being a doctor came completely out of left field. In the first book he was doing business management, I think. There also are a ton of grammatical mistakes. I think if you submit a book to be published and expect people to pay to read it, you should have it properly proofread. I suggest the author remove this book and make the necessary corrections and resubmit. Book 1 did not suffer from this, which makes me think the author rushed this one.
One final issue with the book was the first person perspective switching back and forth. I normally like this device, but the author could have clued us in at the beginning of each chapter as to who’s perspective we were getting, especially since this was different in the first book.
I think combining books 1 and 2would make for a great novel. That is once the above mentioned corrections were made.
This author does show promise though and I look forward to reading more from her.

Ms. Sharp is a young writer. She definitely has the talent and I believe, over time her story telling skills will grow. There are some grammatical errors which is annoying and can sometimes be distracting. The story itself was fair. For some reason the kid totally got on my last nerves. And I adore kids IRL, but even at five years of age she came off as obnoxious. I wished Monica had more of a backbone when it came to Gabriel. He was to use to having his way. That was off putting for me.

Great short story!

I like the series, only 2 books... great storyline, great characters. However, there is a confusion, Gabriel's last name is Robinson while his parents are Waters!?.. Is it a typo? Happened more than once! .
Worth reading.

Miscommunication

The separation between Monica and him was a high misunderstanding. I really don't want to give too much of the story away, but let's just say it is a betrayal by someone. Overall I really liked the story and couldn't wait to get to the end.

Nice story

This story was right up my alley but the reason I gave it 4 out of 5 because it had grammar issues. Overall this was good story to read.

Read both books, Book 1: was intrigued as to how the relationship between Gabriel and Monica progressed. Absolutely loved this book. Book 2: So glad that Gabriel's mother and Angelica's family got what they deserved. I can understand Monica's doubts, however, once the truth comes out, this is truly a love story between two people who loved and lost and finally found love again

It had the making!!!!!!!!!

The story itself was interesting however, it was rushed the secondary characters were just shadows without depth. The ending sucked no look into the next chapter of their life. All you left for your readers were things from the main characters past
