The Legend of Drak’Noir, Book 3 of Epic Fallacy, is a satirical high-adventure romp through the Fantasy genre in the tradition of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, and Piers Anthony's Xanth novels. From USA Today Bestselling Author Michael James Ploof.
I spent my youth in the land of make believe. School was a bore, and growing up in the "Boonies" without cable television forced me to use my imagination. If I wasn't holed up in my bedroom playing with my vast collection of action figures, I could be found in the forest with a wooden sword or staff in hand, battling the forces of evil. As an 80's kid, I was raised on a healthy diet of movies like Star Wars, The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Goonies, and endless other classic (but strange) movies.
As a reader, I enjoy books that take off right out of the gate, sweep me off my feet, and whisk me away on an epic adventure. As an author, I try to create books that do the same for my readers. I write fantasy, and I suppose that I still live in a land of make believe, except now I get to share the adventure with others.
I hope that you will join me on my next adventure, and together we can escape reality, if only for a time.
Omg. It was awesome. I read the first one and was totally dumbfounded at the genius mind that brought forth the awesome page after page of characters and the adventures they were going through. I read book two and laughed all the way through it once again sharing the adventures of this zany crew. Then three came out while I was reading the Nameless Dwarf. I dropped it right in the middle and grabbed book three to reacquaint myself with all my old friends. As I drew near the end of book three I was wondering how it was going to end only to find book four is on the way. A thousand and more cheers to the absolutely twisted, and politically correct, and ever so politically incorrect mind of Michael James Ploof.
Yes I know this book just came out but I am already hungry for the next book in the series :) I have thoroughly fallen in love with the characters, laughed hysterically at all of the "modern day" jokes, and have just really had a wonderful time exploring this world :) I recommend this book and this series to absolutely everybody regardless of what your favorite genre is :) I liken it a bit to "The Princess Bride"; it doesn't fit into any one genre, and that, my friends, is a good thing :)
Oh wow! Where to start. I am absolutely in love with these books, I enjoyed the humor, the various relationships the fast pace, the adventure, well, the absolute magic of these books. I am a super fan! And BEST of all, another one on its way! Yippeeeee!!!! The story line is awesome, characters are relatable and most of all, lovable. Thank you Michael, for sharing this story, I await the next book with bated breath.
I was a little bit disappointed in this 3rd book. I still love the characters, the puns, the humor and the action of the books, but this one was just a wrap up after the quest was done. Hard to explain without giving everything away... I thought the whole book would have been a good finish to the 2nd book without making it a separate 3rd book. I'm looking forward to the 4th book. I think a movie is possible (ala Princess Bride) Inconceivable!
This is a fun, easy to read and follow, loveable characters, and a storyline that keeps you reading type of series. You will enjoy the fun and the relationships that develope between the charaters through out this series, how they become friends and loving each other in the end. Great Reading Everyone!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for the Next!
Legend of Drak'Noir was a serious improvement over the 2nd book and not nearly as kitsch or cliche as the two previous installments. Although, I was bit concerned about the pending fourth novel -- I was quite pleased that there is some resolution. However, it is nicely set up for follow on stories.
If you can write fuck, you can write penis. I'm so sick of fantasy authors saying shit like sex, member, man/womanhood, lower lips etc. JUST SAY PENIS OR VAGINA. These books aren't even serious fantasy. Good stuff, but if you make this one change it'll be perfect.
Normally I wouldn't like such a cheesy story but for some reason it works, these books have made me giggle in such a dark time in my life and for that I thank you.
Good character development, excellent story line I had a hard time putting it down once I started. I'm liking forward to more stories about the champions
Read 1&2 before you read 3. And if it has been a while, skim 2 again because I forgot all kinds of enemies and deals made. This continues and partially finishes the Champion of the Dragon fantasy satire. It was much longer than the others but packed full of action and adventure. Still I felt it was a bit too convoluted and long. The 5 champions, now knowing that they are meant to be fodder, still endure and want to fight the dragon for real. We get much more emotional insight into the characters and the main humor now comes through Wendell and Kazimir and Baby Zuul. I liked the book, and the ending satisfies, but it did not hold my attention as much as Books 1&2. The twist of how they defeat the dragon was wonderful...and no that’s not a spoiler...all fantasy books defeat the dragon if it’s an evil one. The book leaves us hanging on Murland and Baby Zuul’s supposed showdown. As it turns out, there is a 4th book beyond the trilogy. Stay tuned! Or read my review of that one. By the way, the humorous nods to Star Wars, Harry Potter, and other pop culture are good! Slipped in or strongly played up, these parts I liked and enjoyed the best.
I’m going to be honest, not too happy that there is a forth book. It said trilogy and I stayed up till early morning reading it. So no I’m not going to read the next one. I’m a sucker for underdog stories and this one couldn’t get more underdog. I love the genuine humour, the characters’ journey itself and how each of them grow. I didn’t actually find anything in this book that I didn’t like. Except maybe the bit with Zuul. It was a little confusing but makes sense with the summary of the next book. Favourite character in this was packy :)
I still don't understand why Ling Ling is there, or why Douche'ex Machina was necessary. (For that matter, what was going on with the snail? And Benjamin very much feels like a "oh, uhhhhhhh, we probably need more ambiguous characters for the fourth book.") But I really, really liked Brannon's arc conclusion, and honestly that chapter alone actually bumped this book up by a whole star.
I think this series is too long. This would have been perfectly fine as a single book. But I'm kinda invested in these characters now, and really want to see what happens next.
The Champions travel north looking for Sir Eldrick. Oh my the twists and turns. Princess, Wizard, Dwarf, fae, and Daughter not known, Ice Elves and human knight, fight to bring down a dark lord. A high wizard is using the Dragon Champions. The journey fraught with danger gets more dangerous as Kazimir trifles with the Champions. Terrific story telling.
This book was awesome. I couldn't put it down and couldn't stop laughing. I would have read it in one day, but I'm an adult and have to do adult things and couldn't just sit around reading all day (though I wanted to). I'm loving this. This should be recommended reading for everyone, especially uptight bosses who think they know everything and are better than everyone else.
I'm not saying the trilogy didn't live up to the first book because it was consistently goofy and meant to be silly fun. I think I just got tired of it. Apparently more to come from this series, but this might be my exit point.
