As an RD myself, I wanted to buy a book by an RD and it was definitely the right choice. She not only does an excellent job of explaining the science behind the Mediterranean diet, weight loss and exercise in a simple, understandable way, but provides insights and tips for each. In addition to providing recipes, there are four weeks planned out with shopping lists, daily menus, and logs for exercise and water. I definitely recommend this book for those wanting to try this diet, want to lose weight or even just eat healthier.
I loved that this cookbook read like a book in the information it provided. It provides a holistic approach in improving your diet and nutrition. The importance of sleep, exercise, and meditation/mindfulness is discussed. There is a section for ok setting and suggested (very do-able!) exercises are included. The cookbook has a 4 week meal plan with shopping list and then an additional 2 week plan for the post 28-days. The meals all sounded good and those that might be a little questionable are easy to modify. I like everything about this cookbook and would have given it 5 stars if it had more pictures of the recipes.
The med diet assumes you have all the money in the world to waste food. It wants you to eat 3oz of meat, what are you supposed to do with the rest of the steak that you can't eat for a month? Many of its ideas are silly. It doesn't need to get into the details of exercise, it acts like you have no clue about anything health related prior to reading this book.
I get so tired of meal plans for any diet that seems to insist on having yogurt for breakfast. I can’t stand yogurt. And being “dairy free” is another non starter for me.
Great book, if I don't say so myself, 😊 to get healthy and finally lose those unwanted pounds. Not a fad diet, but a sustainable, easy plan to explain and allow the reader to truly understand the role of mind, body and food as it pertains to health. The recipes are tasty, satisfying and easy. The book is mapped out in a step by step plan for simplicity. Hope you love it as much as I loved writing and sharing my experiences for a field that I feel so passionate about... wellness. Smiles 💋
This was OK. There wasn't as much variety as I would have liked. I don't like to drink my calories nor do I like fish so that knocked out about 1/3 of the breakfast dishes and several lunches/dinners. There were only a handful of snack suggestions for 2-3 x per day for 28 days. I probably won't make anything from these recipes.
Incredibly delicious recipes - so much so that this doesn’t seem to be a diet, just an adventurous exploration into Mediterranean cuisine. My wife and I are both retired and love to cook so this book has been perfect. In six months each of us has lost 25+ pounds. If we could hug and kiss this author we would, haha. ❤️
This is an easy to read book on the Mediterranean Diet. I purchased this book because I wanted to follow the life-style change of eating more healthy in order to lose weight.
