I Do?

Wedding planner Jessica James has pulled off the wedding of her career just a week before her own, but when it comes to her big day, she doesn't even make it to the church on time. . . .

Her sister Sarah, meanwhile, has never been interested in the pomp and circumstance of weddings, but she does believe in marriage. When she divers nearly a year after eloping with her should mate that, legally, she isn't married at all, should it really matter?

Jack Carlisle, society wild child, has finally been tamed by Emma Hunter--or at least that's what the papers say. But was it really the perfect white wedding, or has Emma simply met her checkmate?

Fiona's ready to settle down, but when, on the day her brother is left standing at the altar, she falls for a nice guy--and he falls right back--she panics.

Happy endings? What if marriage is exactly that--the ending, not the beginning?

Technical Hitch is a fun beach read type book! It ties the stories of three couples together: Jessica James, a wedding planner who got cold feet and jilted her groom at her own wedding, Emma, a secretary who has married celebrity Jack Carlisle in a staged attempt to tame down his reputation, and Fiona, who was ready to settle down with the perfect guy until she saw her brother left at the alter by Jessica.

The dialogue is well done, and the book is funny. The plots aren't super unique—will the fake marriage of Emma and Jack turn real? Will Jess realize that she's made a mistake by dumping her fiance? Will Fiona ruin the best relationship of her life, or will she recognize what she has? But it's fun and very readable, and I enjoyed it.

This book was not very well written, but even worse, it was very poorly edited. It was so bad, that I had to check if the book was an ARC or not. (Sadly, it isn't). The conversations were awkward at times, the story lines didn't do much for me, and the errors really took me out of the story. A few examples of errors that made me want to burn this book include:

Page 61: "Absently he absently licked the sweat...."
Page 155: "Maybe he thinks he makes it look him less accessible and therefore more desirable".
Page 178: Emma's name is replaced with Jess's on the same page, even though we're clearly only following Emma at this point in the story.

There were a few other errors, but these were the ones that made me want to throw the book against the wall. If I could give this book an even lower rating, I would. It's books like this that make me question my need to finish nearly every book I start.

I started this book looking for a little bit of light reading to start off my summer. I read, thinking this book was so English...which isn't at all a bad thing. The story itself is light and not unexpected, and not uninteresting. The writing, alas, is another story, as it is quite jumpy and hard to follow. This alone explains why it took me more than a month to read.

A book about love, marriage, and living together. The meaning behind marriage today told through connected stories of three couples. A good, fast read.
