Cassia Winter is a witch. With the help of her cat, Stanley, she investigates crimes in the magical town of Brimstone.
A goblin has been murdered at The Brimstone Hotel. Cassia and Stanley investigate and discover his death could be linked to his unusual job. They soon have a list of suspects who had a grudge against the goblin, including his family.
Things don’t run smoothly and their investigation is sabotaged by someone who wants to get rid of Cassia and Stanley - and will stop at nothing until they achieve that.

April Fernsby lives in the north of England in a county called Yorkshire. Yorkshire has its fair share of hauntings and supernatural events, including a witch called Mary Bateman, aka The Yorkshire Witch, whose skeleton now hangs in a local museum.
April loves all things supernatural and mysterious. Her favourite book as a child was ‘The Faraway Tree’ as it took the reader into a different world where unusual creatures lived. April looked for a similar tree near her house but never found it.
Her Brimstone Witch series involves the main character, Cassia Winter, going through a cellar door and into another world where magical creatures live, and mysteries abound.
The Sleeping Goblin (A Brimstone Witch Mystery Book 4) by April Fernsby is another winner in the series. I love this fantasy mystery series. It has me hooked. It is a different kind of cozy mystery, a different kind of witch story. I love the combo. A goblin is found dead in a motel where he works as a bed warmer, yep, bed warmer! Some of the other creatures work deep in an ice mine and are freezing when they come up and this goblin was paid to sleep in their bed before they got there to warm their bed, he put out lots of heat. lol Who would want a bed warmer dead? These are fun stories but also have excellent mysteries. They have great characters, creatures, and new twists on fantasy. They are short books and a joy to read. I look forward to seeing the next edition after I finish reading the current one!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Things are certainly heating up. The murder of a goblin is only the beginning. Someone is running around impersonating everyone's favorite justice witch. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.
This is an excellent witch cozy with a nice little mystery set in a paranormal town. It's fun and the mystery a little challenging. I do hope the author does something about Astrid soon. She's starting to irritate me.
Now that the black magic has been cleared from Brimstone, Cassia is safe to return. She comes back just in time to have another murder to solve. A goblin named Augustus has been found, dead in bed, at the hotel where he worked. As Cassia begins her investigation, she learns that Augustus had many enemies. Her investigation is impeded when the goblin's body disappears, and she is further hampered when other residents claim that Cassia herself took the body. Now it seems that someone is impersonating her in an effort to stir up trouble, and Cassia knows just who it is.
These stories are fairly light and uncomplicated. The plot progressed from point A to B with very few diversions, but in my eyes that can be a draw back. I like it when the main character in a cozy mystery is not so hyper-focused on the investigation. I am also sick to death of Astrid. We are now four books into this series and the situation with her and her hold on Luca and her jealousy toward Cassia has yet to be resolved. Maddening.
An amusing read, but I would have liked more substance. Average score.

This book was more than a little juvenile, maybe it should have been listed for teens or young adults, but I started it and I don't like leaving anything unfinished. I was not impressed with the ending either. It just leaves you hanging. I don't recommend reading this book if you've anything else to read.
This book was more than just a bit juvenile. It should be listed for teens or young adults. But I started it and I don't like leaving anything unfinished. I was unimpressed with the ending, it just leaves you hanging with unanswered questions. I don't recommend reading this book if you've anything else to read.
First time I was able to guess who did it. It wasn't in the way I expected but I liked how it turned out. Just as I was hoping, they are getting better. There are still a couple of things I don't like since there are a lot of unanswered questions, like what happened with everyone involved. Certain characters seem important just to not be mentioned again (some are, though, but still), there were a lot of things mentioned that needed to be done, questions that needed to be asked, and they were not, and I'm left with the question. I'm giving it 3.5 stars because of this, and because I know the questions won't be answered in a future book, they never are.
Another murder! Cassia and Stanley have another murder to deal with and Astrid's hatred. Though Cassia doesn't know what she did, Astrid had it out for her. Astrid does her best to ruin Cassia and Stanley's reputation, using every advantage she has. Cassia does her best and won't stop until the murderer is caught. She gets help from Luca along the way, but that just makes things worse her with Astrid. All through this story, Cassia gets better and better with her magic, her deduction skills, and her flying. I'm excited for the next murder, on to the next story I go.
I was enthralled by this tale. It was funny, puzzling and well written. I can usually work out who is the guilty party, but not this time. The characters were varied and interesting. This was the fourth in a series, and the first one that I have read. I am going to get the first three so that I can read more about Cassia and Stanley.
I'm loving this series! Formidable duo Cassia and Stanley evolve with each case and the unexpected turns keep me on the edge of my seat! A whimsical and tantalizing tale!
I'm enjoying this series. They are quick read cozies. Every time I open one and get started, I think of The Wizard of Oz. Those are the types of characters found throughout the books. Lots of fun.
Brilliant! Brownies, goblins, witches, talking cats, dragons, shapeshifters all blended together in one cozy mystery. Who killed the goblin? What are the secrets being hidden by all? Who is following our favourite justice witch? Nice twist at the end.
This is a well written series which makes you want to know what's going to happen next. Thoroughly enjoyed all the books so far and looking forward to book 5.
Most Goblins are miners. You won't believe what this Goblins job is! Delightfully entertaining! I feel like I know the characters. Love these novellas!
Cassia gets a butterfly message from Blyth to come alone with Stanley to see her. She has aged terribly from absorbing the black magic in town. Then they get a message of a death at the hotel.
I loved it! Another awesome book! I was sad after finishing it, I hope things will get resolved between Luca and them. This is a must read series series! I look forward to the next book.
A goblin is murdered in a hotel where the proprietor is a zombie. The goblin was employed as a bed warmer as other goblins like their beds nice and toasty.
Witch Cassia and Stanley, her cat familiar investigate the case and discover the miscreant while learning all about goblins and their work.
Again, I enjoyed reading about Cassia and Stanley and I'm sure you will too.
