The apocalypse is coming. A major demon has decided to start a war that will kill off humanity and give control to his demon legions. Kastor Blackwood was chosen at birth to prevent that war. Will he succeed in finding the guardian and prevent world destruction? Will humanity survive? Will they be able to crawl and scratch their way back from the brink of extinction in a fragile new world? With the help of a few unlikely allies, he may be able to succeed in his task.
I really hoped for a stellar review to close off this year. But it just wasn't meant to be.
The sequel from the Revelation saga of Kastor Blackwood wasn't as good as part 1. Honestly, first part wasn't brilliant either, so I expected more out of this one. Much, much more.
There's material provided for 10 seasons of Supernatural here if you know what I mean. The story was all over the place and every topic or theme touched only briefly. The story was specifically told, nothing was shown. And it was all crammed in 4 and a half hours.
Instead of one person having a strong southern accent, there are three this time. Maybe not a southern accent, I have no idea how people from the USA speak, but that's what you see in movies. Or is it a Texan accent? Anyway, the one where people mangle words and take a week to finish the sentence. Think "Yes maaaaaaam" person.
Yep, annoying. Still, the narrator did much, much better this time and wasn't speeding through the book like he lives on borrowed time. 3* for David, though, as I couldn't really enjoy the book when I hated half of the characters. It was an unfortunate choice of accent for half of them in total. But hey, one of them dies! :)
What cracked me up were errors which completely removed the immersion. For example, there was an apocalypse coming. Tornadoes and volcanoes went off, gunmen started killing people... and you hear this line: "News started reporting on the natural disaster, violence and racism". What? xDDD
Gems like this did make me laugh, but the rest of the book was underwhelming. Final score, 2.5*.
As for you all, merry Christmas and happy New Year! <3
At the conclusion of book one Kastor Blackwood (Kas) summarized the mission set before him: 1.) Find the demon responsible for the murders 2.) Send stray demons back to hell 3.) Search for seal bearer or bearers 4.) Prevent the seals from being opened 5.) Talk to my Sire and last but not least 6.) Stop the apocalypse. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy; no problem right? Not to be undaunted Kas sets out to find the bearers. Will he be able to prevent the seals from opening and stop a war which would destroy humanity? Three.point.five for an interesting rendition. I am falling more in love with this series with every book. Not my usual type of read/listen but it has a way of captivating you. Kastor is an amazing character that you can not help but love
Audiobook review: Fast paced and entertaining, this story has family drama, murder, upheaval, witty banter, mystery, and hell hounds (Yes!). I hope that there is a third book! The narrator did a good job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Holy Hell!!!!! This story could easily be read and/or listened to in one day! It's fast paced with amazing characters, old and new. I didn't want to listen to the last half hour because I realized the story was coming to the end and I would have to wait for what feels like forever to get the next one! The writing is superb and David S. Dear is quite possibly the BEST narrator there is! This story is funny, witty, engaging... you care what happens with each character. There was a moment when my heart was just ripped out, and David takes each word on the page and brings them to life; so much so that you have to pause and take a minute. I can't wait for the next installment!
