I enjoyed this book a lot. Writing a sequel is hard, especially when the first book is a good story, but I feel Michelle Ryan did well.

Pandora, the villain from the first book From Dusk, has upped the stakes upon Lexi and Jack. She wants revenge and she’s willing to pay big bucks for it.

This produces a strong start, given the high conflict levels at the end of the first book, so we’re straight into the action.

More shapeshifters come into the story. And their leader, Pandora’s hired help, is a sinister piece of work. A bit of a dweeb, but a psychotic one with a nasty bite.

Given the ending of this story, I’m unsure if we can expect a third instalment. So many loose ends have tied off, but you never know. We just might read more of these characters... I hope!

In To Dawn: The Vampire Hunter Prophecy Book 2, we find a more mature Lexi, comfortable with her destiny as a Vampire Hunter, but having to face the fact that her boyfriend Jack has been leading a double life.
After tracing her in Edinburgh, Jack brings Lexie home, hoping to rebuild trust in their relationship. Little did Jack or Lexi realise what far-reaching consequences an act of mercy would have on their future together. What would be waiting for them when they got back to Dunkeld?
M.G. Ryan's novel effortlessly draws us into the world of the supernatural, with her seamless style of writing keeping the story moving along nicely. Through her steady character development (especially of Corey and Lexie), I felt a growing investment in this novel. The crescendo for me was the final confrontation between Pandora and Lexie.
I thoroughly enjoyed M.G. Ryan's 'To Dawn' and recommend it to lovers of the supernatural.

Where the first book in The Vampire Hunter Prophecy series "From Dusk" ends, M.G. Ryan's "To Dawn" seamlessly begins. Drawn into the supernatural world, Lexi is now more confident with her destiny and becomes the heroine she is destined to be. Beautifully written, the story unfolds at a steady pace, keeping you entertained at every turn. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys engaging characters, a unique storyline and of course, to the lovers of the supernatural.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but I have to say, I liked this one more. Lexi seemed to sit more seamlessly into her role of Vampire Hunter, and I enjoyed her strong character and revelled in her her battle-lust! There was more wild adventure in this book. And, like the first book, the sense of family was strong - you you honestly fall in love with the dynamic of it. Ps. Corey's crush was delightful!

Picking up straight off where the first book ended, this novel is another refreshing take on vampires and werewolves. Not getting bogged down in the traditional drama associated with vamps, the protagonist is a strong, decisive and intelligent heroine. She is the fighter, the protector, the hunter - NOT the damsel in distress. She navigates her relationships intelligently despite her youth and while she makes mistakes, she is honest with herself and her friends, and she deals with the fear of losing a loved one. No simple, cliche ending - this book has depth.

Had to give this book five stars due to the fact I normally run a mile from anything vampire related but I enjoyed this book. Loved it more than Book 1 - think that's because I adore a well-written villain with a vengeful streak and in this book, Pandora delivered that in spades.
Loved the descriptive narrative (yet again) and the flow of the whole story as the mental imagery it provoked was wonderous.

Here is a tale in the Buffy tradition.
Lexi is a vampire hunter who has mightily peeved Pandora who's a vampire with a grudge. Fair enough since Lexibumped off her main-squeeze.
So Pandora sends a pack of wolf-dudes to sort out Lexi's boyfriend Jack so she knows what it's like to lose the one you love. To complicate matters Jack just happens to be a werewolf, but in a good way.
With wolf-men prowling around with murder on their minds and the path of true love hitting a few bumps for Lexi and Jack, you have a good yarn with a touch of chick-lit romance, which makes excellent bed-time reading for those fans of the Gothic genre.

What can I say? Only that, I love this book. The first book I did like Ms Ryan built the lore and characters, but in this one, she did it at a whole new level. From the word go, you delve into the book and are captivated by her perfect flow and brilliant example of 1st person. Corey is still my favourite, and I love his interactions with the other main characters.

A marvellous novel, I highly recommend

Ahh, revenge is sweet! Or, does it have a bitter sting to it? Lexi, the vampire hunter may have bitten off more than she can chew in this fast-paced sequel of, 'From Dusk'.
In her last visit to Edinburgh, Lexi and her (shape-shifter) boyfriend Jack, set a dangerous enemy in motion who is hell-bent on revenge.
Lexi, Jack and Cory find they have become the hunted. And three other, persons-of-interest are contracted (by Pandora) to bring this team down. Nerves are strained and secrets are kept in the dark that are set to blow up in their faces.
Jack puts himself into harms way, with dire consequences that might kill him. Lexi's, left open for attack, with no one to defend her. And Cory finds help in an unusual place... right on the enemies door-step. But can this help be trusted?
I found this book to be an even better read than the first one. Although, I must admit, I was looking for more twists and surprises than I received. There is more scope in this story to spring surprises and to tie the reader up into many tight knots. If these missed opportunities were ceased and expanded upon, then there would be no reason to give this story a 4, it would have been a 'blow you out of the water 5+', for sure.
On reading this story (near the end) there is a thread of therapeutic narrative by Ryan, I think, which needed a little condensing (from the readers perspective) and could have easily been monopolized into another, possible book.
Regardless of that, this is something worth your time.

If you like Joss Whedon's snappy banter style, you will be pleased as punch with the rapid fire nature of this dialogue-heavy novel. The 19 named Chapters are split into 2 Parts, the first starting with a prologue and the second ending with an epilogue. The inclusion of a character named Corey gave it an echo of 80s nostalgia, and the character named Bella seemed a little nod to the vampires of Twilight. It's the punchy - sometimes anachronistic and genre-aware - sarcastic back and forth that puts this title in the same arena as the screenwriting of Avengers and Firefly. These characters have attitude, teeth, and a splash of vengeance.

The second book in this series captivated me even more then the first as Lexi becomes more confident in her role. The second book both shocked me and made me smile as various events illustrate how dangerous a job Lexi has found herself in. Friendship and camaraderie mean more then ever in this second book and outline why Lexi has a team surrounding her. Well written and extends the story further as we delve deeper into the world M.G Ryan has created, and the second book leaves the reader excited for yet another in this series.

This story is as much about the relationships between the characters that matter to Lexi as vampire hunting (something of which there was little). While the action, when it was there, was good, I would have liked to have seen more of it. The scenes at Glencoe and with Pandora are a highlight, as is the development of Corey as a character. Still, it's a nice read and sure to be a hit with M.G. Ryan fans.
