At its very core, the desideratum of science fiction has always been to uncover, study, and explore human beings, and the battle they wage with their own nature. Even when we peer beyond our knowledge, we discover that the infinite reaches of the stars is only challenged by the unfathomable depths of the human heart. What it can offer, and what it can tear away. After the breakout success of “Messages” Rory Donahoe brings us his collected works of dystopian scifi, fantastic realism, alien invaders, and the perseverance of human beings in extraordinary circumstances. All beautifully illustrated. This is the greatest science fiction anthology of all time, and you must trust me, dear reader, for I am truly from the future.
Let's say 3.5. I noticed a number of typing errors, which just always hurts the reading experience. It's a mix of stories in terms of positive/sad etc. which is how I like anthologies. It just needs another run-through, so it can be more readily judged on the merit of the stories without the distraction of errors.
Also, props for the title which is just fantastic.
Getting just a glimpse of the world these stories were set in was chilling and thrilling. Very Black Mirror-esque. Looking forward to future stories (set in the future).
