Wow, I think this third book is the most suspenseful or should I say, stressful, of the three. Eira Rennir has been a vampire for a thousand years. Her life has recently taken on more meaning as she sort of adopted the Mason Pack of Lycans. They have become her family of sorts. Eira is who helped save Diana in book two and they have since become close friends.

We also meet Killian North. Killian is Elvin. Elvins are pretty much as humans are except their long lives and ability to heal. They are born Elvin, not turned. Killian was a member of the Texas Army but has since retired and now lives near Sanctuary where he stops SECR soldiers that have slipped through the Texas border and are trying to attack Sanctuary. So he protects Sanctuary from the outside. He prefers his privacy.

A thousand years ago, Killian and a very human Eira were in love. They were also in the middle of a war. When tragedy causes Killian’s sword to kill Eira, he is broken. But when he returns to the battlefield to bury her body, she is gone. During the thousand years that have passed, neither Killian nor Eira have ever been able to move on, to love another. Both thought the other dead. Eira didn’t know Killian wasn’t human and Killian thought Eira had died of her wounds. Come to find out, they were just a few miles from each other. All this time, Eira still wears the Goddess Sea diamond pendant Killian gave her when he declared his love.



Eira is on a rescue mission with the Mason Pack but the mission goes horribly wrong. As she is fleeing, trying to find her way back to Sanctuary to get help, fate finally brings her back to Killian. Together they go to Sanctuary to get the help they need to rescue the lycans being held hostage and deals are made. A rescue party sets out from Sanctuary with just about every type of supernatural you can imagine. That’s one of the things I love about this series, the mixture of so many different supernaturals all working together. Each is so unique and beautiful.



As Eira, Killian and the rest of their party set out on their mission, they are constantly in danger. But during this time, Eira and Killian are able to re-establish the love that never died during all the time they were apart. Mikjall, Diana, Miles and Eli’s son, is part of the rescue party and I loved getting to know him a little better. There is also a new character introduced.



As I said above, I think this book was the most stressful of the three I’ve read. Eira and Killian were in constant danger. And things often didn’t go as they might have hoped. I want to talk about Eira for a moment. She is so brave. Everything she does is for the safety of those she cares about. She is a strong warrior. She constantly is set as the primary in their missions, carries the brunt of the responsibility on her shoulders, literally. Still, some of the Lycans don’t treat her respectfully. It aggravated me to no end to see the things they would say to her face. Except for a couple of the Lycans that are close friends of hers. None of the Lycans would ever let her feed from their blood, even though it was their friends and families she was helping to rescue. Even at the end of the book, after all she had been through, there is a scene where she is disrespected.



I also love that we get to revisit the couples we fell in love with in the first two books. We get a glimpse of Erick and Bailey and how well they are doing, and get to visit some with Diana, Miles and Eli. We also get a glimpse into book four as we get to know Charlotte “Charlie” Mason better. I look forward to seeing her finally get the opportunity to explore her bond with the Lycan brothers from Sanctuary, Travis and Garrett. I’ve had a crush on Garrett since book one when he had a bit of a thing for Bailey.



This book is filled with danger, suspense and love. We also get more of the evil, black piece of sludge of a being that is Xerxes. I loved the ending of this one, such a sweet surprise. I look forward to what Ms. Shannan has in store for us in the next book, My Warrior Wolves. I am truly loving this series.

This third installment in the series really brings together the worlds of these enchanting characters. We learn more about what led up to the battles surrounding Sanctuary, and what happened beyond the Veil. And most importantly, we learn more about how the war impacted the families of those now on the Earth side, and how their lives were torn apart... and brought back together again.

This book is filled with action, romance, and humor -- all the things we know and love from the author! Plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, and steamy romance -- some of the best scenes, yet! I really enjoyed Eira and Killian's story, both as an individual novel, and as an important addition to the series. Well written, well paced, and thoroughly spellbinding. This is a book you won't be able to put down once you start reading!

Killian and Eira's Story

Wow we get sad, heartbreaking, sexy as hell and Alpha's galore all in one book.

Killian has gone through centuries thinking he has lost his beloved Eira and his brother. And he blames the dragons from Blackmoor.

Eira is now a vampire and has even more strength and skill than she ever had before. Some of her best friends are lycans. She has been asked to join Sanctuary as a protector but prefers to stay with they lycans. Until things start going all kind of wrong.

What I love about this series and the author is she brings everyone from each previous story into the next but what I don't like is we have lost so many and the heartache is never ending. We have tons of heartbreak; we have perhaps new relationships forming and some great action. Fantastic series and another fantastic book in it. Can not wait to see what happens next to the others who reside in Sanctuary. Kudos to the author for writing a book that pulls you in and keeps you there till the book is finished. I suggest you begin with the first book in this fantastic series but each one is also stand alone.

Lots of excitement and anticipation builds as the danger escalates and Eira and Killian risk everything in saving prisoners from Xerxes and his evil scheming and with betrayals and unexpected twists and surprises along the way, there’s never a dull moment which keeps readers and characters wondering what will happen next. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life while the well-orchestrated events guarantee that the reader can’t put the book down.

This fascinating series just keeps getting better with so many intriguing characters and unique elements set in a futuristic world that adds dimension and depth to the very foundation of beliefs and I for one can’t wait to visit Sanctuary again.

Wow! I am a big fan of Krystal Shannan and her amazing writing! You will get so enamored and held within the thrall of her writing, that the end just leaves you stunned. The Sanctuary, Texas is such a wonderful series. The characters are so diverse, some dark and deadly, others a good comic relief, and then there are the ones that pull your heart strings.

Within My Eternal Soldier, we met Killian North. He is dark and deadly, with a deep vendetta against all the is wrong, especially those that took his loves from his life. He is Elven and tied to the royal courts in the Veil, until the Blackmoore's were over thrown and banished. Killian a long time soldier, has retired, but still battles daily to keep the SECR away from the Others of Texas Republic and Sanctuary. Then walks into his life change with the broken lock on his barn.

The Vampire, Eira Rennir, has been a liaison to the Mason Wolf Pack, her dead and strong abilities are to the packs advantage, but certainly not good for the SECR. However, with her love of her adopted family of the pack, she is still eternally lonely. The loss of her mate on the night was turned into a vampire weighs heavily on her, but she still after 1000 years cannot move on.

Many dramatic turn of events brings Eira and Killian back into each other's paths, but they must continue making sacrifices to ensure the life of the Mason Pack and all of Sanctuary, Tx.

And let me just say, the ending is just shocking! I need the next book like now. (Deep Sigh)

Set in the near future, MY ETERNAL SOLDIER is a compelling paranormal story, blending action and romance. Although it is book 3 of Sanctuary, Texas series, it can easily be read as a standalone, as Ms. Shannan provides the necessary details for this latest instalment. Ms. Shannan has created a fabulous world, with shifters of all sorts, vampires, and magick to make things more interesting. MY ETERNAL SOLDIER focuses on Eira, a vampire, and Killían, an immortal Elvin, whose love story began a millennium ago. Both thought the other had died, and when they accidentally meet again, it’s as if no more than a day had gone by, their love has remained as strong as it was when disaster struck all those years ago. But first they must survive and keep their friends from being killed before they can even think of anything else…


What a fabulous, wonderful, romantic and exciting book! The action part is full of surprises, there are plot twists I never expected, and the suspense kept me on my toes until the very end. I’m not usually crazy about dragon shifters, but I must say Ms. Shannan’s are superb, even though they are but a small part of this story. All the characters are very well-drawn, very complex and engaging, but they all have their flaws, which make them even more compelling. Eira, a vampire, is one of the most interesting and multifaceted characters I have ever seen: she is brave, loyal, and generous. But the romance, O the romance! Eira and Killían’s romance is breathtaking, beautiful, passionate, and most important, it feels so real! The love and respect they have for each other makes it, in my opinion, one of the greatest love stories of all time!

And the writing is spectacular: fluid, seamless, elegant, the story is solid and intricate and Ms. Shannan knows to adopt a different tone, according to what is happening: very fast-paced and crisp during action sequences, slower and sultry when Eira and Killían are alone together. Kira and Killían’s points of view alternate throughout the book, and Xerxes makes a few appearances as well, and I found it fascinating how different the voices are: the chapters featuring Eira have some dreamy quality about them: Eira is cool, calm and collected when the situation warrants it; she is a realist. Killían’s chapters truly sound as if they’re coming from a man; he’s rougher, and the passages from Xerxes’ point of view will make your skin crawl!

This is the third book in the series and they just keep getting better and better.
The story continues with Eira Rennir, who has no family or no one special since she lost the love of her life a long time ago. Her only family now are the Lycans of the Madison Pack. She's especially close to the Alpha's daughter, Charlie. They have been informed that some of their pack members were caught by SECR soldiers and are being held by the evil Xerses. They are going on a rescue mission to get them back. They are ambushed by SECR soldiers and a good number of the Lycans were killed and Eira was hurt, and she barely escapes. The rest were captured and taken to Xerxes prison.

Kellian North used to be in the Texas Republic (the only ones that accept the Others) Army and he left after 20 years. He now hunts down SECR soldiers who try to sneak into Sanctuary. Has has his own inner demons. He killed the only woman he ever loved-stabbed her with a sword. Was in a war and he went back to claim her body but it was gone. He has a surprise waiting for him in his barn.

Eira manages to get to Sanctuary to ask for help in getting her friends back and she needs to feed to heal. Rose has some of the Sanctuary residents go with her and Rose reiterates that she would like Eira to become the Protector of Sanctuary and hopes she decides to accept after her rescue mission. The race is on to free her friends before Xerxes executes them.

This story is so well written and intriguing that once you start reading, you won't put it down until you are finished. This book is supernatural heaven!! There are so many supernatural beings, to name a few, Djinns, Vampires, Werewolves and Dragons and so many more. Has so much action, suspense, sexy love scenes, humor and tears. Krystal does such a fantastic job of engaging all of your emotions. I do recommend starting with the first book, otherwise you may get confused with the characters, besides you'll love them all as I do!!

I can't imagine the pain of knowing you killed the one you loved - but having to live with it for a thousand years??? That's gotta do some damage. Killian is going through the motions. They're good motions, but you can tell there's a hollow place inside.

Enter freak chance and accident - and lo and behold but Eira (the long-dead love) turns up alive - sort of. Both are shocked, they're mad at each other for not looking harder, and they are so beyond happy all at the same time. Part of this was great! The emotion was so real - but it was also a little overly dramatic at times. Eira is very upset with Killian for hiding some things from her, and she seems to just suddenly get over it.

While they are trying to sort all this out, some of Eira's friends are fighting for their lives in the hands of the bad guys. The bad guy is super creepy by the way - well done Krystal Shannan. The whole adventure portion of the story was amazing, and it managed to enhance the romance between Eira and Killian instead of taking away from it.

This is the first in the series that I've read - I'll be going back for more soon! While there is some background that I can tell I missed, it still holds its own in the romance department as a standalone.

I'm an so enthralled with this series. Each book just pulls me into this world deeper and I never want to leave.
This book focus's on Eira, the vampire we met in the last book, who I completely adore. She's bad a$$ with a wicked sense of humor, and her mate who she thought died thousands of years ago Killian.
I found Killian very charming and sexy. He can keep up with the vampires and other creatures when he doesn't have super strength. He is an Elvin so he does have some perks. Both him and Eira thought each other was dead so its a big shock when they meet up again. I love how they still love each other so deeply and our still bonded so close after all this time.
This book had a lot of action and was focusing on bringing characters together and meeting some of the other players. I loved actually meeting Jared and Alek. They have been mentioned in previous books but we haven't actually met them until this book. I am super excited to find out more about each of them. Also this sets up for the next novel with Charlie and the super alpha werewolf brothers. There was a lot of heartache and sadness in this but also love and hope. I am completely in love with this series and all the supernatural creatures in it. I can not wait until the next installment.

I absolutely am obsessed with this series! Krystal Shannon has done it again! She exceeds my expectations every time I pick up one of her books! I simply can't get enough of her writing style and world building. Not a lot of authors can keep up such a strong series, after a few books they tend to get a little repetitive and a lot boring, but Shannon really knows how to keep her readers interested from start to finish.

My Eternal Soldier is full of action, romance, and humor. It's a classic story of love and loss, and it captivated from the first page. Eira is absolutely hilarious and I enjoyed her character very much. She has had quite the journey and I don't believe her journey is over quite yet. I loved Killian, as well. He was protective and testy and hot hot hot! Their passion for one another was audible!

I can't wait for the next book in this series! I am seriously addicted to Krystal Shannon's books!

This book got all the elements for me to LIKE it that much. I just kept digging into the heroes's story but also the characters in the Sanctuary and sure the big bad guy.
There was no agenda in this book about the love relationship. the fact the author choose no games was a plus for me.
the hot scenes they didn't make me cringed at all, it just felt unsupernatural and so unextrordinary. perfect for me.
the negative side: more please? why? just more! how... just those questions. hoping of more than 4 or 5 books since there are other characters. so after this I'm taking a pause in the pnr category.

I'm so hooked on this series. It gets a little tough to read how twisted Xerxes is. I can't wait until he gets his due! The saga continues with vampire Eira and Elvin Killían. They once were destined to be together, but fate tore them apart thinking the other is dead. Now fate has brought them back together. Eira faces betrayal from a friend and now must try to save her friends from Xerxes's clutches before it's too late. Will fate be cruel once again and tear these two apart for good this this time? I loved the twist in the epilogue. We see some potential build up for future characters.

i LOVED the first book in the series, but feel like the last two didn't meet my expectations. they were still really good though. krystal shannan always has great plots and characters. This book was no exceptions. I normally don't read a lot of this genre, but I fell in love with book 1 and was hoping that i would with 2 and 3 as well. My eternal soldier was a good read...it took about two days to finish.

Wow! What an remarkable book! I love it! Krystal Shannon has dazzled us once again with her latest release, My Eternal Soldier, the third book in her amazing Sanctuary, Texas Series. I first became a fan of Ms Shannon's work when I read the first book of this series, My Viking Vampire, and I've been fanatically hooked ever since. It is always such a pleasure to read the work of an author like Shannon who is blessed with such a boundless imagination and an abundance of natural, god-given talent. Every time I read one of her books I am reminded of her incredible skill and unique ability to draw her reader into her story and the world she has created for us. This is not your ordinary wham, bam, thank you mam, short quick read. This story has real substance and depth, a book you can really sink your teeth into. It not only satisfies the need for entertainment but will also challenge your mind. If you're looking for a quick easy read, then this is not the book for you, but if you're looking for a compelling paranormal story filled to the brim with action, adventure, suspense, magic, supernatural beings, heartbreak and romance, then this is definitely your book! The story is original, unique, imaginative, well developed, well executed, fast paced, exciting, riveting, action packed, suspenseful and romantic. The dialogue is intelligent, exceptionally well written and flows effortlessly. Ah, the characters....they are the main component, the heart and soul of this story. Each and every character is fascinating, captivating, intriguing, engaging and sexy as sin. Even the bad guys are incredibly well developed and noteworthy. The villains of this story have won my own personal award for being the best evil villains of any story I've ever read. You can't help yourself, you just love to hate them. But I digress, let's talk about this series and this story. The series, Sanctuary, Texas, is based on a town aptly named Sanctuary located somewhere in Texas which is no longer part of the United States of America but rather, part of the Texas Republic. In the year 2046, the world learned of the existence of supernatural beings, called Others, and as a consequence, the United States succumbs to mass hysteria, fear, hatred, darkness and despair. Mass riots and violence ensue causing the fracture of the American government resulting in the creation of five dictatorships disguised as republics ruled by dictators calling themselves Presidents. Others are persecuted, hunted, tortured and murdered on a mass scale. Of the five republics, only the Texas Republic is Pro-Others, the only government to welcome Others and allow them to become citizens. Sanctuary is a safe haven for Others. I'm 3 books in, and I'm completely hooked. It's crazy how fate works, Killian and Eria were a couple about a thousand years ago. Tragedy happened, and he believed she was dead. Now, fast forward to the present, she's wounded and ends up on his property in his barn. It's crazy, they've lived only hours away from each other but didn't know it. They found each other, and now they're trying to save trapped lycans. A few were killed, but most mad it out with the help of the residents of sanctuary. Is the djinn manda Jared's mate?How is it possible that Eria could get pregnant? Did her and killian's oath make her human again? Why was the kinsune's baby so important to xerses? Will they defeat the great evil? What exactly would their baby be? I'm waiting to read about the twins' son Majeli. Is the kitsune his mate? Will he mend things with his parents? So many questions.

Honestly, this book really surprised me and exceeded my expectations. I really thought if the main male hunk was supposed to be this Elvin creature surely this story was not going to hold my interest very long. Shannan really left me speechless with her take on Elvin creatures and Killian was truly worthy of the alpha male Eira deserved. After first being introduced to Eira in the last book I was excited to see she got a book of her own so we could learn more about her. Their story is really wonderful and I feel like there is so many possibilities for upcoming stories with everyone who is in Sanctuary. Packed with enough drama, action, suspense and romance, this addition to the series will not disappoint you.

I want to move to Sanctuary, Txt.

These stories can't get much better but they do! This author just has a way of bringing the most out of her characters...Eira...the vampire that gave so much of herself to the Mason wolf pack...and her friend Charlie. She missed her lost love. The elvin man Killian who lives on the outskirts of town and gets rid of bad spies. He's also missing his lost love. Great storyline..things in Sanctuary are always interesting and amazing. Another great read.

My Eternal Soldier (Sanctuary, Texas #3) by Krystal Shannan – I think these are getting more painful to read as we go! I’ve been basically skipping any of Xerxes’s chapters because they make me want to vomit. Pretty sure I missed things, but I’m in this for the good guys to get their HEAs! Eira should have made Killian do more groveling, but this is a dystopian fantasy that has hooks in you. I keep holding out for the key players to get their HEA even though the body count is horrifyingly high! Happy Reading!

At 1st I couldn't figure out if eira was a girl or boy. Lol but it became clearer after a little bit of x. I don't understand what happened 2 her. How did she turn into a vampire? It said he stabbed her with his sword accidentally then her body disappeared b4 he got 2 go back and bury it. That doesn't say how she turned. It's very good they finally found each other after all these centuries. It's really sad that she lost alot of people that were her friends.

What a wonderful story and know there aren't, suppose to be cliff hangers but the ending I just wanted more but I guess as a reader we always do such an action packed story with a lot going on Jillian and Erica are a great couple who has with stood the many trial and tribulations that life has thrown them fighting Cerberus and the skinny would highly recommend

This is the third book in the 'Sanctuary' series. So far I'm enjoying this series, the characters I felt to be well developed. The action is non stop, suspense to keep you guessing and sexy time with our hero and heroine to be explosive.

Eira and Killian spend a thousand years pining for each other. Both thinking the other dead and gone. This is a heartwarming tale of how the were reunited and bonded. It was a hot, intense and often moving story. The ending was truly unexpected.
