Re-release. Storm and Seduction contains two short, sexy novellas. These are re-released stories originally published as Taken by the South Wind and Tempting the West Wind. They have been updated and have new scenes and/or extended scenes added.
I’m a USA Today bestselling romance author who’s passionate about fast-paced, emotion-filled romantic suspense and science-fiction romance. I love writing about people overcoming unbeatable odds and achieving seemingly impossible goals. I like to believe it’s possible for all of us to do the same.
I love hearing from readers and you can find me on Facebook, Instagram and my website: www.annahackett.com
Containing two short novellas, I liked this second Warriors of the Wind installment more than the first, but this series isn’t really doing much for me. However, if you’re looking for a short, easy paranormal read with hot, powerful men, women willing to stand up to them and lots of sex, then you’ll probably enjoy this.
Personally, I’d like a little more depth to everything going on, especially the characters, plus a little more exploration of the powers involved and a little less predestined romance stuff that sees everyone throwing themselves at each other just because!
I didn’t really enjoy Storm all that much, because Samia’s whole deadly assassin grows a conscience when faced with killing a beautiful man isn’t quite my thing. Seduction was better, because Antonio and Sophia at least had their work in common, but still, everything moves so fast and all falls so neatly into place that it just left me a little bored.
So overall this isn’t really my thing. However, if you want something light and easy, with a hint of heroic powers and plenty of steamy scenes, then you’ll probably enjoy this.
I enjoyed the inclusion of other supernatural entities through the brotherhood. Samia is more than just human and it’s her job to stop beings who are hurting people with their powers. Samia was really tough and strong but also had a vulnerable side that comes out when she expresses her loneliness and her guilt over her last mission.
There’s a lot of insta-love and insta-trust in this one. Some of that can be explained by Dante and Samia being destined for each other but Samia does come to trust Dante really fast.

SEDUCTION 3 stars
Antonio was a pretty great hero; we know he’s usually the charmer of the family but the stress of stopping Corus has worn him down. He’s fighting so hard against the unwanted lust that Corus is infecting Florence with. I liked how strong and noble he was throughout the book. Sophia jumps right in with both feet once she realizes what is going on. She’s certainly a very brave, if not overly trusting, woman. She seems to really understand who Antonio is deep down and that he’s a man worth fighting her fears for.
The cover blurb made it seem like Antonio and Sophia would spend more time locked up by Corus and fighting against their desire for each other. However, this ended right away and the story moved onto other things. I was really hoping for some good tension filled scenes, but oh well.
This is the second book in the Warriors of the Wind collection and contains two exceptional and intriguing stories entitled Storm and Seduction. I really enjoyed reading this book and would certainly have no hesitation in recommending it.
Storm: Dante much prefers the challenge of his job to the bustle of Rome; he is tempted, but he knows it is the pride talking. Africus is Dante’s adversary, the Southwest wind and keeper of its dark vice of pride. Humans were not the only ones susceptible; Dante already felt the pull of pride inside, hearing the ugly whispers on the wind. Africus is getting smarter, leaving false trails for Dante all over the city. Dante needed to find Africus’ true trail and stop him before pride drove him mad. Someone is in the shadows; who would be stalking him other than his enemy. Samia is a killer, born and bred to hunt supernatural beings and the Hashshasin Brotherhood’s best assassin; she also has the ability to feel truth and lies and to be able to camouflage. Killing this man, this evil, is her last chance to prove herself and the Elders had sanctioned his assassination; there is no way they would send her after an innocent. But Samia knew killers and he wasn’t one. Africus was a cunning man to send a Hashshasin after him, especially one so alluring and a tempting complication he didn’t have time for; yet somehow touching this woman held the pride at bay. Samia’s heritage is important to Dante because she calms the vice that torments him every day. Samia, with death running in her veins, gives another being comfort; not once had she ever been needed other than to kill. Samia confirms Dante’s story; the Warrior of the South Wind was no killer, but a man who protected humans. Anger shot through her; the Hashshasin had been duped , her Brotherhood played and their reputation tarnished. Samia is going to help Dante hunt Africus; not just for revenge, but because she knew Dante needed her help; she can track Africus and help Dante control his pride. To be his partner in the hunt, to stand beside him and help; it would be her choice for once. Africus is taunting and luring Dante out; it is a trap but whatever happens Samia would help and protect him. Samia chooses Dante; now they were not warrior and assassin, they were just man and woman. There would be no more death for Samia; with Dante by her side there was only life and love.
Seduction: Corus, the Northwest wind, was cunning and for the last few weeks had eluded Antonio while infecting the people of Florence with the vice of lust; Corus had the power to make people want things they didn’t truly desire. Antonio’s wind carried the promise of new life and that made him more susceptible to Corus, but he cannot succumb, not for an all too brief moment of pleasure. Naked and chained to a wall like an animal, Antonio finds himself locked in a room with his greatest temptation. Sophia is the newest employee at Museo Venti. A woman with a passionate love for art that rivaled Antonio’s, but she has already made it clear she has no interest in men; all she cared about was her art and the dream of finding out the truth about the Warriors of the Wind. Sophia had come to Italy for a new beginning and not to repeat her past mistakes. A year ago she had lost everything; her perfect life had shattered with terrible consequences. With Sophia firmly in Corus’ sights, Antonio tries everything to make Sophia leave Florence. Sophia is a mess of conflicting emotions; anger, sadness, worry, fear and desire and she was done letting any man tell her what to do. Sophia knew Antonio was pushing her away to protect her, but she also wanted to protect him; but how much longer can he hold out against the lust. It is time to trust herself again and to do what is right; now a good man needed her help and she was going to take the biggest risk of her life. Antonio just has to let go and let Sophia take control, then they could beat the lust together. Antonio was a dominant man by nature and one who had held power all his life; giving control to another went against everything he was. But Sophia was Aurae, a woman with the power to control his vice and born to be his mate. Sophia has always wondered why she was drawn to the legends of the Warriors of the Wind; now she knew why. With the lust under control and the whispers gone, it is time to beat Corus and they would do it together.
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
In these KU Library follow-ups to book one, Tempest, two more Venti brothers wage their fights against the Tempest Winds, who escaped from their prison when the activity of a nearby volcano fed their powers. The Tempest Winds are in human form, deadly, and will infect the world with their vices if they aren't stopped.
In book two, Storm, Dante Venti, one of five brother who control the wind, is the Warrior of the South Wind and the owner of Venti Shipping. He is in Rome hunting the Tempest Wind Africus, the keeper of pride, when he discovers someone with the gift of camouflage is hunting him. Samia Hassan is an Hashshasin, an assassin for the brotherhood who kills evil paranormals. Her assignment is Dante Venti, but when she engages him she feels something is off. She decides to learn more about Dante and his target, Africus, the man who hired her. And the more she learns, the more she believes the brotherhood failed in their investigation. But being an assassin, the daughter of the brotherhood's head of training, is all she has ever known.
In Seduction, book three, Antonio Venti is the Warrior of the West Wind and is in Venice hunting Corus, the Tempest Wind with the vice of lust. Antonio is the owner of the Museo Venti and one of Italy's most eligible bachelors. He heads to a club after a museum event and awakens naked, chained to a wall in a strange room. Slowly he remembers being attacked by Corus, who knocked him out and drugged him. Now Corus ups the ante by attempting to seduce Antonio over to the dark side with the museum's latest hire, an unconscious and naked Dr. Sophia Crane, an art restorer and Antonio's secret obsession. But Sophia is more than either Antonio or Corus could have ever expected.
I am inexplicably drawn to stories about elementals, have really enjoyed this series (which has totally captured my attention) and can't wait for the next book
Can the next two Venti brothers prevail and find what is extinct?
In Storm Dante, in charge of the shipping branch, is on his hunt for the Pride Tempest Wind, battling his need to succumb to Prides assaults and soon he is also a target for an assassin. The Winds act more cunning than ever before and make it hard for the brothers to capture and imprison them. Battling on two fronts he is close to loose himself to Pride. The brothers and the Winds thought the Aurae have been extinguished, but it seems some blood is left. Samia is not the cold unthinking assassin, after one kill gone wrong she is wary of the picture that had been painted for Dante and his real self. Something tells her that there is something wrong. She decides to stay close and investigate what is gong on.
In Seduction, Antonio, in charge of the museum, battles lust on several levels. He is attracted to his newest employee and that Lust is free does not help his situation. He fights the Wind, but is thrown together with Sophia. Sophia wants to avoid all complications and only focus on the one steady thing in her life, her job. But she can feel the attraction as well. But her heart is still too broken, is it? From a young age she had been intrigued by the Warriors of the Wind, drawn to history and myth she might uncover more truth than she could wish for. Will they be good for each other and can they stop Lust before it is too late? Both books are scorching hot. The books are short and have a closed story. I honestly prefer the longer books from Anna, where you can totally enjoy her writing skills. But the books in this series are nice little treats for an afternoon.
Two enticing stories that are packed with picturesque powerful vivid scene descriptions that wow you, flirty innuendoes, life-threatening incidents, secrets unfold, a fabulous surprise, fiery sensuous passionate romance that leaves you breathless, the happy ever endings are heavenly and leave you wanting more.
STORM; Dashing Dante Venti Warrior of the South Wind is also extremely powerful. He is in Rome searching for Africus the Southwest Tempest Wind to stop his evil destruction. Samia Hassan is a beauty but a deadly assassin sent to Kill Dante. Meeting Dante catapults Samia into a life she did not think possible.
SEDUCTION; Sexy Antonio Venti Warrior of the West Wind is in Florence on a chase to stop the heinous crimes of Corus the vicious Tempest Wind of lust. Sophia Crane is sassy, gorgeous and works for Antonio at his museum. Both have been attracted to each other since the day they met, but have held back their true feelings.
Roller coaster stories with suspense and danger that keeps the reader turning pages until the end. I love how the female heroines are described; each having lion-hearted personas. The backstories are fabulous as they give insight to the character's personalities. The Venti brothers are protective and I love their humor side too. Each romance is believable and blazing hot. If you treasure romance this is a great book for your library. I found these stories thrilling as they were both gratifying reads. I loved them so much I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.} Without reservations, I recommend this book.
Storm Dante the South Wind Warrior, had a hard time resisting his weakness, Pride. Africus, Tempest Wind, had been cunning this time. An assassin was after Dante. Could he survive? The Ardean blood are playing an important role in the struggle and The Warriors need them to face the battle. This interesting and entertaining story continues the struggle against the Tempest Winds. Seduction With his vice, Lust, each time getting stronger Antonio felt failing. When Sophia Crane, the woman he wanted but could not have, was threatened by Corus, all seemed lost for Antonio. For a long time, Sophia had felt a pull toward learning about the Winds and now knowing her boss secrets had awakened feelings she thought were buried but, could she help Antonio defeat the evil? Both stories were full of action, suspense, evil characters, deceive, violence, strong heroines and passion. Liked how Samia and Sophia’s characters were crafted. I like these fantasy stories full of mystery, magic and legends. Very interesting and entertaining.
Second book in this series and I know I want the next one I could not put this down . The first part of this book deals with brother Dante Venti who is a Shipping magnate and also the Warrior of the South Wind who is attacked by Samia Hassan the brotherhood's best assassin. Samia feels that there is something wrong with the assignment she has been given to kill Dante . Will they be able to put their differences aside so they can bring one of the Tempest Winds back to confinement ? The second part of this book is Antonio Venti, Warrior of the West Wind who gets himself captured but then Sophia Crane an art restorer who believes in the legends of the Warriors of the Wind. When she is captured and taken to Antonio who is trying to fight off the effects of one of the Tempest Winds is having on him. Will they be able to defeat the man and gain their freedom? I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
The Tempest Winds are continuing to rage against the Venti Brothers and their potential mates.
In Storm Dante Venti finds himself in the crosshairs of an assassin, Samia. But when she realises she has been lied to by her organisation, she decides to help Dante rein in the Tempest Winds. after all it can only be a good thing to have a trained killer on your side!
In Seduction Antonio Venti and Sophia, an art restorer have been dancing around each other for a while. But after her last disastrous romance, Sophia is timid at the thought of another passionate affair with this hot gallery owner.
I loves these stories. They fit neatly into my lunch hour and what they lack in length they make up for in well crafted, tight story lines and red hot passion!! Waiting on tenterhooks for Fury & Darkness.
Two stories; SO exciting! "All the Winds carry vices. The Tempest Winds choose to embrace them."
In "Storm," Dante Venti, Warrior of the South Wind, seeks Africus, who is spreading the vice of Pride throughout Rome. Africus tries his own dirty deeds to gain an edge on Dante. These turn into quite a thrilling battle, as Dante gains an unexpected ally in an assassin: Samia Hassan. A great read!
"Seduction" The vice to which Antonio is most vulnerable is 'Lust.' He is the Warrior of the West Wind, hunting Corus, Tempest Wind. The temptations! He must free himself and take control before Corus' evil spreads beyond Florence. Sophia is determined to help him. Can he trust her to do what needs to be done? Two more stories down, two to go. Will the Warriors of the Wind prevail?
This book contains Smokin Hot Italian Hunks. This is book 2 and contains 2 brothers
Dante is first up and has to battle Pride he finds himself the target of an Assassin with the wrong information. Can he convince her that he's the good guy and if so can she help him defeat Pride and send him back to the Keeper of the Winds?
The second story is Antonio and his battle with Lust. Corus the wind that controls Lust has captured Antonio and brings him what he believes to be his greatest temptation one of his workers who he's been falling for but kept his hands off. Will they overcome the power of Lust or will Antonio fail
Read these brilliant stories and prepare to have your panties melting
Warriors of the Wind book 2. Two fabulous novellas. Storm features Dante and Samia. He's trying to capture the evil guy before he corrupts the world and she is a trained assassin trying to kill him. They find out it's the bad guys doing and set out to get him together. Now add in the hot chemistry, crazy drama, high angst and twisty WTF. It makes for fabulous reading. Seduction features Antonio and Soph. So angsty, twisty drama, crazy WTF and oh so tingle worthy. These two got issues but they join together when everything is at stake. Loved these characters.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am in love with pretty much all of Ms Hackett books and characters but as this serie is made of novellas, I did not feel that I got to know the characters as well as I usually do. The romance and actions were lightning fast and even though very hot, did not feel as deep as usual. Still, overall an interesting concept and world building. I am kind of curious about the last two brothers who seem to be the toughest and darkest of the family as well as the females they all be partnered with.
This book has two stories in the Warriors of the Wind series, but they can be read without having read the first book. The stories have humor, action, supernatural elements, suspense, and steamy romance. Each story features a different couple and they get their happy ending, but the major story arc continues into the final two stories of the series. I highly recommend this series to anyone that enjoys a shorter read with lots of steamy, paranormal romance!
Totally blown away! These revamped books are awesome! This is the second & third of 5 brothers battling their inner demons along side their very strong lady loves. Same theme as book one but a totally different vises, a notch hotter (seduction especially) and full of action!
I'm totally in love with these one sitting movie replacements. The last 2 will be following shortly - not having to wait for years is such a bonus.
Two more novellas featuring the Venti Brothers and what great reads they were. Anna has given us short, hot reads that are full of suspense, danger, vice and passion. Each story is a individualistic as the brother its about, the women that love them are just strong and unique. You don't need to read the series but for me I suggest you do, that way your able to follow the overall storyline but its not necessary. Now to wait impatiently for the next instalment. As usual love your work Anna!
Brothers fighting evil finding love in the process
They control the winds, they are warriors battling the evil tempest winds. They believe they are doom to fail as there is no longer any chance the breezes survived. Boy do they get surprised. Awesome reads!
The second and third in The Tempest Winds series (this book) were better than the first, the third the best. They're super quick reads but AH packs in all of the goodness that's found in any of her works. I really enjoyed this book and will reread it many times, of that I'm sure.
Loved the story. Dante and Antonio are sexy hot and all together yummy. Wish the stories were longer though. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!
I liked reading this book. Both stories were good. They were interesting and had many surprises. The female characters are different from each other and have different backgrounds.
This book contains the stories of two of the Venti brothers and their quest to capture the South and West winds. It was ok, somewhat simple but an easy read.
Way, way back in 2009, Anna Hackett began her Windkeepers series. As many of Anna’s books as I have read, I haven’t read those. It was one of those things I meant to go back to. Someday, when I got a round tuit. And some copious free time.
Now I don’t have to. She has revised, revamped and updated that series into Warriors of the Wind, and I was fortunate enough to receive the first two books of the updated series for review, which actually contain the first three tales of the Warriors of the Wind. Because these stories are relatively short, more like novelette length than even novella length, I decided to review those first two books together.
So, on to book 1, Tempest and book 2, Storm & Seduction.
The foundation of this series lies in the Roman, Greek (and other) pantheons, and in their personification of the winds. The Romans called them “Venti”, and that is the name of this family of Wind Keepers that has protected the Earth for ages.
The Brothers Venti are the good guys. Their nemeses, the Tempest Winds, are very definitely the villains of this piece. It is the duty of the Venti, handed down through the ages, to keep the Tempest Winds contained and prevent them from causing too much trouble. While the Venti brothers’ winds represent the cardinal points of the compass, North, South, East and West, they keep the Tempests from the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest in check.
The Venti brothers also represent powers that are kept in check, while the Tempests represent powers that are let loose to run amuck. Anger kept in check can be good, anger let completely loose pits friend against friend and brother against brother, and leads fairly quickly to war. It’s the same with the other powers, those of Pride, Lust and Greed. Controlled is good, let off the leash is bad.
The series begins in Tempest, when those pesky Tempest Winds break loose from the island where they have been imprisoned. Running that prison is the duty of the fifth Venti brother, in this case Lorenzo. He is certain that he doesn’t need any help to do his duty and keep the Tempest Winds contained.
Of course he needs help, and that help comes in the form of horse-trainer Riley Donovan. She is exactly what he needs, both as a man and as the Keeper of the Winds. But in order for him to accept that help, he needs to get his head out of his rather gorgeous ass. And let Riley in.
The pattern for Storm & Seduction is similar to Tempest. Now that the Tempest Winds are on the loose, they are each gunning for the brother who is most susceptible to their evil wiles, of which they have many.
Each of the battles that the brothers face are slightly different, and the women they need to help them are very definitely cut from different cloths. Riley is a horse trainer, Sophia an art restorer, and Samia a trained assassin. But they each have powers of their own, powers that the Venti brothers desperately need for their battles. And for their hearts.
Escape Rating B: These are fun. Also very sexy. There is nothing tame about the winds or about anything in any of these relationships. But they are terrific little stories if you like your romance on the hot and steamy side.
Because these are short (I want to say sweet but really they’re short and naughty) that there is a clear pattern to the stories is just fine. It’s not something that would work as well in a longer novel, but for this length, the story needs to move at a very fast pace, and these do.
There’s also more than a hint of the “fated mate” trope, but again, that works to speed up the action and the story, and makes sense in context. “Fated mate” is always a bit contrived, but in this case the contrivance worked.
I liked the characters, especially the women. The men are rather similar to each other, but then, they are brothers. But the women are all different and they all stand up for themselves against some very powerful enemies. And even more powerful lovers.
A good reading time was definitely had by all. I’m looking forward to the updated versions of the rest of the series in Fury & Darkness.
Storm Dante is the keeper of Pride and his story takes place in Rome when an assassin almost succeeds in killing him. Samia has been told he is a Tempest wind, not a Wind Warrior. Seduction Antonio is the keeper of List, and he is only calm around one of his employees, but he doesn't understand what it means initially.
I love these short stories that explore an alternate universe where malicious spirits cause havoc for unsuspecting public.. and the flawed heroes who battle personal demons as well as Tempest Winds.
