Robert Brown-Wing Eschte, The Great Thunder-Hawk of Anasazi Legend has lost his beloved wife. Memories of his life and adventures as a fledgling Were-Shifter plague him night and day. He hears his deceased wife talk to him, he smells her right beside him. Is he losing his mind? Is he the only one who notices these things? In the realm of the Swamp Witch, things are never as they appear. Your friendly college professor is a Shape Shifting Giant Hawk and his son the Sheriff is a Werewolf and the guy down the road that runs the local restaurant is a Were-Panther. The Swamp Witch is a retired Titan Goddess and her lover is an infamous Pirate who is on occasion, a thirty-foot alligator! In this story, Hawk takes us on a new adventure and sheds light on some mysteries of his past. A beautiful romance and plenty of action and mystery for everyone!
Learning more about Hawk’s history and following along with his struggles with grief, and the long road to acceptance he must traverse, made Hawk’s Spell a truly moving story to read. It had moments that made me laugh out loud at the humor but, most importantly in my opinion, it touched my heart. Much as the other books in the series also managed to include many aspects of fancy, intrigue, myth, and madness, Hawk’s story had just enough of everything to keep me hooked from beginning to end.
If you’re looking for a series to read, especially if you’re open to the various differences that make this particular series special, then I wholeheartedly recommend the books of The Swamp Witch series.
One word best describes this book ! RIVETING !! Hawks Spell is an extremely riveting book , though it is third in a series , " The Inheritance of A Swamp Witch" and " A Witches Welcome" are the first two , you absolutely do not have to read them to understand and be fully immersed in "Hawks Spell" and it's colorful characters and family ! Set in South Louisiana with a bit of magic , it will grip you right at the start and you will be highly entertained to the very end ! I was never bored , never lost , but , was addicted to the storyline and characters and thrilled to the very end . As I said , only one word best describes this book ! RIVETING !!
I was thrilled to find out that Hawk had his own book! He’s a mysterious character and I wanted to know more about him. His story is of loss, love, and never giving up hope.
Trying to find his way after losing so much during the war, his family is under attack. Hawk and his family come together to protect what is theirs. Hawk starts to unlock memories of his past back and they are painful. There is a ton of action and some twists you don’t see coming. The story has many points of views happening at the same time. It can get confusing but I’ve gotten used to this style having read the previous books by the author. I was happy to see other characters make an appearance and that twist!!! I hope the author is writing another book because no she didn’t!!! This is a highly enjoyable read. I give this 5 stars.

This also has a mysterious plot that will have the reader pulled into not only wondering whats gonna happen next, to trying to wrap your mind around all the different paranormal characters there is, to being given such a inside look on their thoughts.
From teenagers to young adults, this book will engross and entertain the readers.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book by its author for my own pleasure. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog
What a great read! Sonia really fleshes out Hawk's character. She goes into detail about why Hawk is the way he is. His children are also fleshed out nicely. The characters really take shape and come to life. The pace is exactly right on, from Hawk's beginnings to where he is now. I strongly recommend this book for a great weekend read or a summer read. Please do yourself a favor and read this one. I recommend reading Inheritance of a Swamp Witch and A Witch's Welcome first, but it's ok if you only read Hawk's Spell. It's understandable without reading the first two of her series and just a plain good read. Absolutely a 5 star read and I look forward to more books from Sonia Taylor Brock!

ARGH!!!! Did you ever want to pull your hair out?? Scream and shout so bad at an author??
I was ENJOYING this one far more than the other two. I WAS enjoying it. I thought, okay, this is just going to be Hawk in the first and everyone else in the third.
And then!! We get Hawk's children having a say, in the first, with no warning who was speaking, we get the vampire having a say, in the first with no warning, and even the dead wife has a say, in the first WITH NO BLOODY WARNING!!
This book was shaping up to be the best of the three, but really, it's going to bear the brunt of my frustration! I fail to see how this issue wasn't picked up by other reviewers.
I've read some reviews, AFTER I finished, and it has some amazing 5 star ratings. But when an author drives me NUTS because they can't type a single name at the head of a chapter to let us know who is speaking?? I can't rate a book so highly. I actually read a couple of chapters, without realizing WHO was speaking, til the very end!
The children, The Balance fulfill their destiny here, going their separate ways and one becoming good, and the other evil. I fail to see how the all seeing Swamp Witch didn't know about Lynne cavern under her house. Because, you know, she is ALL SEEING, ALL KNOWING, it says so in the book!
I'm sorry, I really am, I just could not enjoy this as much as I wanted to. BUT I did finish it, and for THAT reason, and that reason ALONE....
I just love this series! Full of family love and ties and not all by blood, as it should be. Hawk grieving over Lynn and his heart breaking more each time he is reminded of her. Thinking he is loosing his mind, he hears and sees Lynn, but what he doesn’t know, is that his children are too. She promised she would never leave and she kept that promise. True love and loyalty. Then guess who is back for a fight and revenge? Yup! The vampire! He thinks he has made the perfect army. How stupid can you be, you are fighting the werewolves and their comrades. You don’t stand a chance! This book is full of surprises, twists and turns and unforeseen turns of events. I still Love how all paranormal creatures are involved one way or another. Best paranormal fantasy series out there!
