I love him...but he’s forgotten why.

A lot can happen in six years, and Ash and Pete have seen their world flipped upside down more times than most. Being parents to Pete's young nephew wasn't in their plan, but life happens to them and they roll with the punches. Or at least they did, until new heartache rocks their hard-won happily-ever-after.

Ash loves Pete as much as ever—more, in fact—but Pete battles alone with a burden that weighs heavily on his heart. Ash is no stranger to dark clouds, but the secret Pete keeps from him is a storm that could break them.

Despite the fierce love that once buoyed them, they're both drowning until a new friend throws them a lifeline. His wisdom offers insight—for better or worse, real love is rarely a smooth journey. For Ash and Pete to come full circle once more, they’ll have to hit the road and chase it.

Damn, barely finished and I already miss these guys...

For me this was a short journey since I read all books almost back to back and believe me, I'm so glad I didn't have to wait years for the last one.
"You're not happy."
"I know."
"Why?"
"I'm just... not."

No, Pete is not happy and the reason why almost broke my heart because this is a burden I wish upon nobody, especially not him who already had to go through so much.

But there is Ash. His rock. His soulmate. And he will always be there. I just love how far he had come, so he is not only able to take care of himself, but of Pete too. And of their love. Even in the middle of the deepest crisis their love will always be something that defines them.

Although this book was as heartwrenching as the others, it didn't wreck me quite as much. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes there was a... I don't know... mystical (?), spiritual (?) feel to it, when it came to their thoughts, which gave me goosebumps. Umm, the good kind. ;-)

I also loved to see Jed and Max from Only Love again. It was like visiting old friends and to see them still happy, even if their life is far from easy, made my day.

And the ending? Like I said in my last update, it was pure perfection! It couldn't have been any better and I smiled through my tears when Pete and Ash found their well-deserved HEA...
Pete's arms were my home, and there was nothing left to say. We'd climbed another mountain and reached the top together. Life was never a perfect circle, but the one we had was all ours.

---Spoiler Free Review----

She said she would give Ash and Pete a glorious HEA. She said that, despite what these guys have gone through, they'll get the happiness they deserve. She was telling the truth! Garrett Leigh wrote the perfect ending for her most tortured heroes.

Because I don't want to spoil anything, I'm just going to say that stuff...happens. Not good stuff. Pete is unhappy and there's a reason for it. There is distance between him and Ash, and some lack of trust. Bu there are some things, you just can't talk about.

The secondary characters are everything here! Only Love is the only book by GL I haven't read, so I first met Jed and Max here, in Circle. I felt such an instant connection with them, I'm definitely going to read their book too.

Ash has come such a long way! He's so ready to conquer the world. And now he's the one who will become Pete's rock.

The sex scenes are so meaningful and integral to the plot. The way these two love each other almost brought me to tears.

For the fans of Roads, you DO NOT want to miss this last book. The epilogue is EVERYTHING! Swoon worthy, romantic, funny, and so Pete and Ash. I was so happy to be back in their little universe.

Recommended!

It's with great irony that I write in my review, "Do yourself a favor and do not read any reviews on this book". There are a ton of important things that could get spoiled. I'm already seeing spoilers in reviews (even ones tagged as spoiler free). If you're a fan of this series just skip the reviews and grab this book the day it comes out.

I was super hesitant going into this book. I don't like my hea's messed with and I was super worried about where this author was going with this story. I didn't like the part of the blurb that mentioned another guy. I was afraid that a third was going to be introduced to their relationship and if so I was going to ban the author to the island of authors I no longer mess with. Fortunately none of my fears came to pass. The author knocked this story out of the ballpark.

The story starts a few years down the road and the guys are struggling. Pete is going through something and as a result is pulling away from Ash emotionally. The thing that made reading this ok was the fact that their love for each other jumps off every page. You know they're going through something but you never doubt that it will work out for them in the end.

I'm not talking about the plot because it's all a bunch of spoilers. Lot's of events happen but the highlight for me was the emotion between these two. It's a touching relationship that is beautifully written. I love the fact that the author can take something that should not be romantic and can turn it into something that can make you swoon. Every time one of them said "I love you fucker" I got all heart eyes.

This book can not be read as a standalone. If you haven't read the previous books you will need to do that first. If you have read the other books you can go into this without doing a re-read. This takes place a few years down the road and the author does a good job of catching you up.

So......I loved everything about this. It was perfect for me and I'm so happy the author wrote this and we got to see these two again. I cried happy tears through the entire epilogue.

What a great finish to the series! What a sigh-worthy epilogue!
(Dare I say I had an inkling...?)

I think the reason why I like Pete and Ash so much is because they never give up on each other.
Whatever life (or Garret Leigh, *g*) puts into their way- they don't just throw the towel and call it a day, even when it would be so easy.
They work at it, they TRY and in the end the connection between them helps them to tackle even the heaviest burdens (and the one Pete is carrying around has the weight of the Himalaya).

And this is what it all comes down to:

Amato That tattoo on Pete's hand says it all:

It is Pete who needs Ash this time. For reasons you will find out he is lost in deep depression. It changes him ... he isn't himself anymore. Not even with all the good surrounding him.

And this is exactly what Ash does. With the help of Jed and Max - two amazing characters whose story I can't wait to read (Only Love)

Other highlights:
.) The sex in this book is not just that, but plays a significant role in the story and in the development of Pete and Ash`s relationship. - it is meaningful and so much more than just very very hot
.) to see the two men surrounded by the family they have created. So much has happened since two lonely guys met in book 1!
.) Zola - I know she plays a minor role, but she did crack me up because of the way she unravels Pete

It is a lovely end to a great series. There may have been the odd (but unimportant) niggle. As a whole, though, I absolutely loved this.

What a great series from Garrett Leigh : there are some characters so well fleshed out that they feel real and their struggles become tangible. That’s what happened for me with Pete and Ash.

Ash had a very bad start in life, loosing his parents, being in foster care and then on the streets where he found some relief doing street art. Ellie noticed him, helped him to get out of his drug addiction, getting back as much as possible on his feet and finding him a place to stay with a roommate : Pete.

Pete is a paramedic, not very chatty but always taking care of others and his first meeting with this “scrawny kid” stirred something inside him. And thus begins the compelling journey of Pete and Ash, as individuals and as a couple, each struggling with their past, their demons, their defense mechanisms (and aren’t we sometimes even worse to ourselves than the others surrounding us), and all the trials life can bring.

So many feels when I read that series : I was sometimes overwhelmed, despaired, frustrated, but also hopeful, in awe by the love and faith developing between Pete and Ash and relieved by the strength of their bond.
This story and the characters called to me a lot. Why exactly ? Don’t know and don’t care : it simply did and it’s what matters.

Now, tbh, the last part of their journey (ie circle) left me perplexed : I didn’t understand the connection between Pete/Ash and Jed/Max (maybe reading "Only Love" with Jed & Max as MCs would have been wise ?!?). But it helped Pete and Ash to be in a good place both in their head and in their love : no better ending than that !!

**Note : another wonderful gift from you, Vir. You sure know how to spoil me. Muchas gracias, Mwahh, <3<3<3**

This book. It’s so much on so many levels and I am going to attempt to not fangirl the fuck out of this review and stick to the story. If you have read a single review of mine, you know how hard this is going to be for me.
Sometimes perspective is physical, even when the problem isn’t.

So, I have a thing for Ash and Pete. They are one of my most favorite couples ever and the fuckers could do no wrong by me. When I first read Slide I was sat on my ass quickly by the writing of a then new to me author who had me hooked so fast I read the book in a day and then while writing my review for it, went back and read the book a second time. The in-between shorts that give the best scenes you could want from the stories along with the second book Rare, solidified my love for this couple and my adoration for the authors’ ability to write gorgeous romances that fit the addiction I have for heart wrenching angst.

I know people had issues with Pete in Slide and I get why but I never doubted him. Pete slid into my heart fast and he tugged Ash right along with him. I am a reader who usually likes one MC better than the other but with these two, I can’t choose because there is this invisible cord that ties them together and no matter what happens, they are part of one another and I love them equally.
Because, fuck, I’d missed him, even though he’d been right there from the moment I’d met him. Ash was my home, my family, my everything.

On to the review… Pete is going though one hell of a rough time and it was painful to read. Knowing how much Pete and Ash have already gone through since they met and fell in love, I didn’t want them to hurt anymore. But the reason Pete has become apathetic and depressed was unexpected to me as a reader and I got why he was retreating into “asshole Pete” without even knowing it. We know there is something he is hiding and keeping from Ash about this situation and while I had bits of it figured out, when Pete tells what happened I lost my shit and had to stop reading to sob into my pillow to not wake the dude sleeping next to me. I can tell you, it’s not the first time the author has broken me that way and I am honestly going to say I love the hell out of it.
I think Jed and Max are fucking heroes. We learned so much from them, and I’m glad you brought them into our lives.

Now while this is Pete and Ash’s story, we get the lovely addition of another couple from the author’s book, Only Love. I admit I had never read their story but after seeing Jed come on the page, I took a pause for station identification to meet Jed and Max and I cannot say how happy I am that I did. Reading their story, knowing who they are and all they went through, Circle would have felt so empty to read and NOT know them. I get that not everyone reads the way I do, that they don’t need to know everything and everyone in a series but it’s worth the time if you haven’t met them, don’t know about what they went through and even to meet Glenn and the gang before you meet them in this. Trust me when I say, it’s not hardship to watch Jed and Max fall in love and there are dogs so, it’s a total win/win.
If I’d possessed an ounce of romance, I might’ve figured we were made for each other, but I didn’t need romance to know that shit.

But anyway, I love that Pete and Ash still have the attraction to each other, reading them now as an established couple. The way they are still so lost in love and lust for one another after so many years fills my romantic heart with everything but Pete isn’t okay and Ash desperately wants him to be. So when Ash has a chance to go to one of his art exhibitions that he never attends and it just happens to be in Portland, Oregon which is only 20 minutes outside of Ashton where Jed and Max happen to live near a lake… Ash decides to take a leap on the coincidence. He just needs the love of his life to be on board with him, literally.

Life with your soul mate, the person who becomes the world to you is only a half-life if the one you love isn’t okay. Sure, you can get lost in the everyday of work etc. and for Ash and Pete that has happened along with getting custody of Pete’s nephew Liam as well as helping out Danni with Cosmo. But the love Ash and Pete have for one another may be the one thing they have that is real even though this new hurdle pressed upon them makes them work even harder for their HEA.
“Ash, it’s not like I’m sad all the time, because I’m not. Most days I don’t feel anything.”

“Which means when you do, it all hits you at once. I know how it works, fucker, even if our demons wear different hats.”

I have to give props to the author for her handling of depression and mental health. It’s no secret that Garrett Leigh writes honestly with her characters and the issues they face and she does so time and again with Pete and Ash. I truly get Pete being able to recognize depression in others but not so much in himself. As someone who struggles with depression, there are days where I question my diagnosis and others when I question my ability to not be checked in on a 72hr hold so that I can make it, at all. Knowing what Ash has gone through himself, what he went through with Pete’s accident with the L Train and seeing him now, Ash has become so strong for the man he loves and will do whatever it takes to get Pete back to him. But what will it cost Ash who faces his own demons? I swear, these two are so strong when they are together, I had the ultimate faith they can make it through anything.

One of the things I love most about Ash and Pete is how they communicate. Either with words, a simple look or a touch saying they are there, they communicate beautifully and so intimately that it takes my breath away. But the men aren’t communicating as well as they should and they know they need to talk this shit out so that they can move on. Thankfully, when you’re locked in a van with the only smile you need for days, there isn’t much else you can do but talk.
“It does feel like we’ve lived a whole new life on the road.”

So yeah. The first half of this book is wonderfully angsty and the second is a road trip full of hope. Ash and Pete do what they do best and that is love one another unconditionally. That’s not saying they are perfect but they get that they are with a lover who has issues and they accept that even when things like keeping secrets force them to face the harder facts of life. But I love that they sought out what seemed familiar in Jed and then in Max once they meet and the time at the cabin was magical for so many reasons.

I will say this book was gorgeous. If you can’t tell, I loved the hell out of it and Pete and Ash remain one of my most favorite couples ever. That epilogue was everything and that very end was cathartic even for me and I cried to let all of the emotions I kept in for the last 20% of the book. I don’t think I can say anything else but a thank you to the author for giving her readers this gift. I am going to go kiss my signed copy of Slide and eat my feelings.

Sigh.

Pete and Ash, I love you fuckers.

This is the final installment in the Roads series and is honestly one of the most complex (i hope this is the right word) books I've ever read. Ash and Pete have had so much thrown at them and the fact that they're still coming out stronger on the other side?

That's strength. And courage.

My heart was honestly all over the place while I read this. I was crying, sad, heartbroken. But as you read along, Garrett does a wonderful job mending your heart as much as you possibly can.

And that ending? It. Was. Perfect.

*swoon*

I couldn't be happier for the two of them.

Overall book rating: 4.5
Audio Book: N/A
Book Cover: 5 Cause I really like it okay?

So... where to start? I feel on one hand that this book had a different Feel to it than the others? I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe I don’t really want to.

I’ll be honest and say that for a while at the beginning there, it felt as if great parts of “something’s” where left out. Maybe I was greedy because I so love these guys and I don’t mind reading about every single moment they breathe together.

I didn’t like the reason for Pete’s withdrawal. I didn't like it because it HURT! Still, after finishing the story there is an empty space left in my heart. I can’t imagine what Pete and Ash had to deal with if it affects me this way.

So life goes on. I get that. Still doesn’t mean we have to ‘like’ it. I’m not saying more because I don’t want to spoil it.

I really liked Jed and Max getting involved in the story. Again, I would have liked it even more if there was more.

I’m spoiled I know, and maybe because I’ve read the whole series from the start and had a second visit with books 1 and 2, I feel that this one was way too short.

It was too short and have trouble getting over the fact that this is the end.

I love these guys. I’m so happy for the promise of a future filled with greatness awaiting them. I’m thankful for their little “family” that surrounds and cares for them.

It’s bitter sweet I guess. Great writing Garrett Leigh. As always.

I love Pete & Ash -- this is a great ending for them. I loved the emotion in this book, the hot and sexy times, and the banter between the guys. In addition, loved seeing new sides to the guys... I really don't want to say a lot and potentially spoil any aspect of this book. It is the perfect ending -

This was the perfect ending for this series, I absolutely loved this one from start to finish with all it's imperfections and perfections. Full review to follow soonish!

As with most things this re-release has come full circle...

While Ash and Pete have weathered the storms of the past and neither man has lost sight of how much they love each other, with the beginning of ‘Circle’ there’s a distance between them that leaves both men feeling like it’s a distance that they’re not sure they can breach and it’s going to take the wisdom of some new friends and a trip away from home for Ash and Pete to find their way back home and to each other.

Pete’s not happy and Ash knows it as clearly as he knows that the love they share is still alive and strong but what he can’t see is the cause of Pete’s unhappiness. Pete’s keeping secrets…not because he wants to but because he loves Ash and the last thing he wants to do is to add his darkness to what his lover already carries. But that’s not how Ash feels, he wants the man he loves above all else to be happy…
“Because it haunts me, and you don’t need any more fucking ghosts.”
“You carry mine as much as I carry yours. We’re wasting our time, otherwise."...
It’s going to take stepping outside of both their comfort zones for these men to find a way back to each other and recapture that magic that they share.

Pete knows that there’s a wall between him and Ash. After all he’s the one who’s erected it but what he’s not prepared for is the fact that Ash is determined to fight for what they have and when push comes to shove Ash is not only willing to step outside of his comfort zone to set them both back on the same path but he’s going to take Pete right along with him.

If I loved the first two books in this series I’m still looking for a word to explain how much I treasured this last step of their journey. ‘Circle’ not only sees Pete and Ash working to find a way back to each other but to themselves as well…especially Pete. He’s been through so much and now it’s time for him to come to terms not just with what’s happened but with some of the things he’s done as a result and it’s time for him to trust that Ash is every bit as strong as Pete has claimed he believes him to be.

While I’m not prepared to go into the details of things that have happened because I’d like to keep this a spoiler free review. I will say that after all that Ash and Pete have been through (and I’m going back to the very beginning of this series with this statement) ‘Circle’ is the ending that they both deserve and have both worked so hard for but it’s one that they’re also going to have to continue to work hard to get. Pete’s secrets were done and kept out of love for those who mattered in his life so truly I loved that Ash saw this just as Pete saw that Ash’s actions were about finding a way to bring them back together.

I loved, loved, loved this series and being able to read it without any breaks in the stories was for me the best way to enjoy it and one that I recommend. Seeing the growth and change that each of these men went through was to say the least an emotional journey and seeing them get the happily ever after that they both needed and deserved was simply the icing on the cake.

Darum geht’s:

A Joyfully Jay review.

5 stars

This series has always been character driven and this book stays on course. It also has had a harsher, more somber edge to it and that also stays on course, although there are a few more moments of lightness here.

This book shows the guys together for six years now. Ash has come so far and it was amazing to see where he is. He still has his demons to wrestle with, but he’s successful in ways he never imagined. Pete, on the other hand, is struggling and it’s not in his nature to reach out. He was always the strong one and he doesn’t want Ash to see the darkest parts of him.

The book opens with the guys working through custody arrangements for Liam, Pete’s nephew, but that in no way takes over. Family is an important aspect throughout the book, but it’s Pete and Ash that remain the heart of the story. I’m not going to go into any specifics at all about what these guys are dealing with and it’s best to ride along with them as they take a much needed road trip where they meet up with Jeb and Max from Leigh’s other book, Only Love. Do not be concerned if you haven’t read that book as Leigh ties them in effortlessly.

Leigh is not specifically known for explicit scenes, but Pete and Ash have always been special and she captures them with a real rawness that shows their vulnerability as they take each other apart while they build each other back up and their chemistry and need for each other is still insane. The nickname they have for each other still remains and no one else can get away with affectionately calling each other “fucker” quite like these guys can, and it remains an entertaining highlight. I also started thinking about the structure of this book and where Leigh had to go to pull this one together and to get back into their mindset and I will offer a bravo for a finely crafted story.

The epilogue was about as close to perfection as I’ve seen in a book. Pete and Ash don’t just simply find their way, they grab hold of each and every drop of good in their life and you may just get choked up at the happy. The title is also perfect and this was an amazing way to complete their journey. These books need to be read in order and while there are certain part of the series that may be more difficult to move through, the final scenes make it entirely worthwhile.

"I wasn't dancing. The dogs heard you coming, so I followed them"
"Without your shoes?"
Dammit. I lifted my wet feet from the ground and stood on Pete's boots.
"I don't need shoes, I got you"
"Yes, you have"

Pete and Ash are just rooted in me, running in my blood, and they're my first love of Garrett Leigh characters and they're so damn perfect. Consuming me like no other.
Two imperfect soul, perfect for each other.
I don't even know how to show my love for Pete and Ash. I want to shield them, and put them in my pocket to just let them know they're loved.
This is the final book of the series, and the epilogue couldn't be more perfect for them!
I cried like a happy Mom for them! Thank you Garrett!
One of the best MM series I have ever read in this genre. Definitely a must read!
I strongly recommended this book for everyone, to know that 'unconditional love' is still exist.

I was a coward! It took me forever to find the courage to start this book, even though Garrett Leigh told me I had nothing to fear. I should have trusted her, but I guess it's better late than never. I still wasn't ready for the emotional rollercoaster I was sure this book would take me on, but I got tired of procrastinating so I dove in heaven first. I'm so glad I did!

There are many amazing reviews for this book already, so I'll just add my humble opinion. Pete and Ash were fucking fabulous, this book was full of angst and emotion, the writing was flawless, and the ending the so worth every single moment (throughout the whole series) I've felt I could drown in angst and misery.

Ash and Pete will be a couple that will stay with me forever and Garrett Leigh will forever remain one of the few authors whose books I'll read no matter what. Simply amazing!

More emotional glimpses of life with Ash and Pete

Garrett Leigh brings Ash and Pete's tumultuous relationship through to a naturally satisfying conclusion with this final visit.

I love anything Garrett writes but Ash and Pete are special to me among her characters because of their incredible struggles to just live their lives and love.

The angst levels in this series are almost the most high and dramatic of any of her books in my opinion and it works uniquely well for such wonderfully realised characters.

This book also gives us more Jed and Max and that can only ever be a good thing.

Loved getting to revisit two of my favorite couples from this author in one book. I'll be honest and say since it's been while since i read the previous books I was a little slow to remember everyone. A re-read probably would've been helpful. But I wasn't lost. This stands well on it's own. I loved getting to see that love isn't a magical cure all. That relationships still take work. Mental illness still rears it's head. That in life, it all comes down to CHOICE. You choose to stay and work it out. You choose to get help. It's all about how you choose to deal with things. (That's not a judgement of those who it's not that easy for.) I really enjoyed seeing Ash be there for Pete, and seeing how he's grown. He's more vocal (he could've spoken up even more IMO but life's a journey. He'll get there.) I really felt for Pete at the same thing, he's breaking under this huge burden he feels he can't share. I wish Jed & Max (from Only Love) hadn't seemed so perfect & guru-like. But then they were just supporting characters and weren't the focus.

Oh my heart. I have serious book feels going on from my overindulgence of Garrett Angst. This final book completes the series and I’m exceedingly grateful that I read them all back to back. It was an intense and stunning ride. When Leigh has a couple of broken boys on her hands, she’s a force to be reckoned with. I assumed after the traumatic events in the previous book, Pete and Ash were due for some smooth sailing. Not a chance. The waters were choppy and dangerous and I wanted to shake somebody with my frustrations. I found it difficult to read in public because I couldn’t contain my growls, exasperated mumbles, and leaky eyes. On the other hand, I wasn’t capable of putting it down for it was glued to my hand until I finished. Then the book hangover came. I couldn’t stop thinking about them and couldn’t bring myself to open a new story for weeks. It’s a beautiful gift when a story consumes you to this extent. Thank you, Garrett, I’m so very pleased you chose to bring Pete and Ash full circle.

What's to like: Things pick up a few years after the previous book. And sadly, they have experienced sharp pain that hasn’t healed. This suffering won’t ever go away but time should help lessen the pain. However, Pete is holding onto a secret that is like a steel sliver in the wound. It will never close and remains open and raw while he holds onto it. Ash knows that Pete is keeping something from him. Something awful that is creating a hollow space between them. His life has hit highs he never dreamed of. But he never wanted to reach the clouds without Pete. And try as he might, he can’t seem to get through to him. His greatest fear is losing Pete. He never imagined he would still have him but only have an empty shell of the man he used to be.

What's to love: As always, the connection between Garrett’s guys is blinding. Even when she forces a void between them, their love is mesmerizing. My heart swelled watching Ash shine. There was never any doubt that he was meant for great things but I’m thrilled we were able to see it. Then my heart ached for Pete. Such a heavy weight held him down and I longed for him to free himself. They embark on a road trip that will forever change their lives and it was a privilege to ride along. AND…the overlap and intertwining of characters from other series made me soooo happy. I love all of Garrett’s guys and it was a delight having them score some page time. I’m purposefully being vague with the plot here because I wish for you to experience things firsthand. Pete and Ash deserve all of love and happiness in the world *whispers*….and they get it.

Beware of: Relationship strain from keeping secrets. They connect with their bodies and hearts when words fail them (despite me yelling at them to just TALK!). Depression from profound grief. And tension and worry that they might finally…break.

This book is for: If you are a Leigh fan like me but haven’t tackled this emotional rollercoaster yet, I urge you to follow the Roads in proper order and check out the “missing scenes” in between books. If you haven’t discovered her eloquence and electrifying stories, Slide in here…you won’t regret it.

Ash and Pete will always and forever be one of my most favorite couples and this book is everything you wanted and some you didn't know you needed for this beloved couple. It's perfection. Emotional and angsty and so SO happy and joyful that I might have a book hangover that lasts me for weeks. I finished this yesterday morning and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it and thinking about just how far Ash and Pete have come from when we first met them. I loved every single thing about Circle, even the parts that hurt my heart ... but oh man, the love and the hope and the light ... it's EVERYTHING! Thank you SO much Garrett for revisiting these guys and sharing them with us once again. <3

RELEASE DAY full review:

Like so many, Garrett Leigh’s Roads series—with the books Slide and Rare—was one of the first M/M books and series I read. Ash Fagin and Pete Adams were characters I fell completely in love with and Garrett Leigh became an auto-buy author for me. It’s four years later, and nothing has changed. Ash and Pete are STILL wonderful and Garrett Leigh’s books are ALWAYS an auto-buy. But let me tell you, when Garrett announced she was writing Circle and we’d get to see Ash and Pete one more time, my stomach flipped, my heart pounded, and my smile couldn’t have been any bigger. Garrett Leigh has promised her readers an ending worthy of Ash and Pete and I promise you, she delivered. And then some.

Circle finds us a year after the end of Rare. Ash and Pete are in love, life has happened, and some things have changed, others have stayed the same. Ash is still incredibly talented. He’s still beyond close to his sister, Danni, perhaps even closer. Joe is still a powerful, welcome presence. Pete is still steadfast and loyal. From the first page, I was completely pulled back into their world and it was like I never left. Ash and Pete are those indelible, unforgettable characters and even if you haven’t thought about these two since the ending of Rare, I can promise you that once you start reading Circle you’ll remember everything about them. And remember just why Ash and Pete will forever remain one of the best couples ever in M/M romance.

This is a spoiler-free review so there’s not a whole lot I can say that won’t diminish your reading pleasure, so let me just say a few things. First, Circle proves just how and why Garrett Leigh continues to be one of the best authors writing in the M/M genre. She has this certain way about her storytelling that is just unparalleled. There is angst, there is pain, but there’s also this beautiful sense of hope and family and love that is always present. Nothing is forced; every happy moment is hard won and makes each and every hurdle so worth it. In Circle, Ash and Pete have more than a few hurdles to overcome. Oh, at no point was I ever worried (well, not TOO worried) that these two wouldn’t make it. I mean after all, they’re Ash and Pete and there are few other couples out there that deserve that magical happily ever after like these two.

Second, it was fabulous to see Danni and Joe once again. These two are just so integral to Ash and Pete that it wouldn’t have been quite the same without them. And just so you know Garrett, this girl would LOVE a novella, at least, of these two. Seriously. But to me, it was the presence of Jed and Max from Only Love, that really made the book for me. I won’t tell you how these two come into Ash and Pete’s life, because it is quite magical and brilliant how Garrett accomplishes this so seamlessly, but let me just say their presence was everything.

Third, Garrett Leigh delivers what is without a doubt one of my most favorite happily ever after’s of all time. No lie. I don’t care if it’s ten years from now and I’ve read thousands more books, I’m not sure there will be many that can compare to the gorgeous, emotional, and totally perfect ending Garrett has gifted us readers. I don’t say this lightly and it’s not an over-exaggeration. It was utter perfection.

Thank you, Garrett Leigh, for this treasure. Ash and Pete will forever remain in my heart and it’s an incredible thing to know that characters that are so loved and seem so real will be living their happily ever after for all time.

Stunning. Absolute perfection. I just want to savor this one, and keep it with me for a bit. Maybe even immediately read it again. It’s been three and a half years since I spent time with Ash and Pete from Garret Leigh’s Roads series, but Circle quickly reminded me why I love them so damn much. I didn’t have a chance to reread Slide and Rare before reading Circle, but I wish I would have. It’s definitely not necessary…I was able to get right back into the groove with these guys, even though so much time had passed. But, I would say that if you do have a chance to revisit them, it might make reading this one even more special. Also, if you haven’t yet read Only Love, or have time to revisit it before reading Circle, I would highly suggest doing so. I soooo wish I would have reread it first. Again, it’s not strictly necessary—but, Jed and Max from Only Love play a HUGE role in this part of Pete and Ash’s story, so meeting them and knowing their story first will only enhance the reading experience here.

In the six years since Pete and Ash have been together, they’ve gone through some pretty hefty changes: gaining partial custody of Pete’s nephew, continued recovery both from Ash’s past, and Pete’s life-threatening accident, and the devastating loss of Pete’s mother, Maggie, among them. It’s the latter that’s got Ash so worried about Pete in Circle. It’s obvious to Ash that Pete is depressed—when Maggie died, a part of him died—but he’s at a loss as to how to approach Pete about it, or how to help him fix it. Whatever happens, though, he can’t just watch Pete keep going through the motions.

Early in the book, Pete and Ash both meet Jed, a vet buddy of Pete’s friend Glenn, and it turns out to be total serendipity. Pete and Ash both feel an odd sort of connection to Jed, so when Ash finds out he has a gallery show just twenty minutes from where Jed and his partner live in Oregon, he finds himself packing up some paintings in a van, and hitting the road. Thankfully, with Pete in tow, because this road trip to Oregon might be exactly what the two of them need. The way Garrett Leigh weaves this story together is breathtaking. It’s completely fortuitous that Jed and Max come into Pete and Ash’s lives when they do. It was so amazing to see them again, and to watch them enrich Ash and Pete’s relationship so much. Gahhh, it was so good, you guys. I don’t want to give anything away, obviously, but I have no doubt that every reader will find it as magical as I did.

I know the blurb, and some of what I’ve said so far, makes it all seem a bit heavy—and it is—but even though we know that Pete is in trouble, and Ash feels like they’re drowning by extension, I never felt like their relationship was truly in jeopardy or their love was ever in question. In fact, they felt more solid than ever as a couple, and I thought the story was incredibly romantic. Well, as romantic as Pete and Ash ever get, anyway. This was classic Pete…
If I’d possessed an ounce of romance, I might’ve figured we were made for each other, but I didn’t need romance to know that shit.

Once again, I loved everything about this book. The cover is beyond gorgeous. The title is perfect. The supporting cast is fantastic—I love, love Danni and Joe. And, the epilogue was everything. Another brilliant must-read from Leigh, whose work I adore more with each release it seems.

This is book three in the Roads series and follows the story of tattoo artist Ash Fagin, and Chicago paramedic Pete Adams. If you’ve read the first books in the series you’ll know that this relationship has not been an easy one with Ash’s history of drugs, mental illness and life on the streets and the love and safety he’s found with Pete, who’s been his saviour. This book see’s them six years into their relationship. The tables have turned, Pete’s keeping a big - make that huge - secret and Ash has to be the one to be strong for Pete now, to be his rock just as he’s been Ash. I’ll not say more, as you have to read this book. They’ve come a long way since book 1, Slide, and I’ve loved being with them all the way and now reading about this hurdle and how they both handle it and how each of them has grown has concluded such a wonderful love story for me, I’ve so enjoyed the journey, even if it broke my heart along the way. Worth noting are Jed and Max who we met in ‘Only Love’ they are so integral to this tale and I’m completely besotted with them, who could want better friends than those two? This has been such a good series, I’ve been turned inside out and put back together reading it and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Perfect.
